[Q] Disabling autohide keyboard - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been using Go SMS Pro recently mostly since it can display emoji. But i've noticed one really annoying thing is how the keyboard auto hides every time i send a text. Is there any way of preventing this from happening? It can get pretty annoying when you're having a back-and-forth with someone.
I'm running ICS on a galaxy nexus, the keyboard im using is swiftkey X.
Thanks in advance

I'd like to know as well. I have the same issue. Running Samsung Galaxy S2 E4GT with Swiftkey and Go SMS.

Quick Q&A Problem

So I rooted my Atrix the other day and it's now running version 1.57. Everything is running smoothly expect for 2 things. First, the text messaging. When I receive a text, I'll be notified, but I'll go to the default app and it'll just be an orange circle rotating like it's trying to load. I figured it might just be the app so I installed Handcent and GO SMS Pro...same thing...my notifications will pop up, but when I go to my inbox or to a list of my previous texts I received, NOTHING IS THERE. How in the world do I fix this? I tried looking for a "Default Application" setting thinking that maybe I can clear the default one that came with the phone, maybe that's the issue, but I have no idea where or how to change that setting. The customization I once had on the Android OS seems to be gone.
Also, when I installed the ADW Launcher, I noticed it gave me a completely new keyboard, which is fine and all, but the default keyboard that came with the Atrix would actually rotate with the screen and become bigger if you turned the Atrix sideways...I'm trying to figure out how to get it back or change this setting as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Samsung keyboard. Bug?

hi,
i recently got my SGS II, and i really like the samsung keyboard, it is very responsive.
However i think there is a bug, im not sure, but it is very annoying
when prediction is enabled, the prediction bar keeps hiding everytime a word is selected and then re-appears when you start typing again. i didnt have the problem on any other keyboard on my nexus one.
so is this a bug, is there any way to keep the prediction bar always there as the stock android keyboard does?
The Nexus One comes with a stock Android keyboard, whilst Samsung provides SGS2 with a modified one. I've always switched to Gingerbread Keyboard from the Market when taking on a new Android phone. All issues, with prediction and haptic feedback, are non-existent.
yeah i tried smart keyboard, all is working well
i guess its a bug.
such a shame, the samsung keyboard is very nice!

[Q] Keyboard That Doesn't Display Itself Wanted

I'd like to use a USB keyboard for terminal-type stuff or long emails. Unfortunately, the darn on-screen keyboard pops up taking half the screen.
Does anyone know of a keyboard I can install that doesn't show a keyboard on-screen?
If you're using swiftkey x can you swipe down to hide the Keyboards?

Search Null Keyboard in the market. It stops the pop-up.

How to stop Samsung virtual keyboard from popping up when using..

Any suggestions on how to stop Samsung virtual keyboard from popping up when using Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 keyboard dock?
The only idea I have seen so far is to use Titanium to delete the stock Galaxy Tab 10.1 keyboard?
Thanks!
Surely you could freeze it using titanium backup rather then uninstall it completely

Thank you for your reply.
I have never used Titanium and never rooted a device.
I guess it must be time to try both
what rom are you using? It shouldn't pop up at all if you are using the samsung keyboard.
As ezcats said, it shouldn't pop up all the time... The first time I used mine, it did, but just push the key on the physical keyboard to bring down the on-screen keyboard and shouldn't pop up anymore. It doesn't on the Canadian stock 3.2 anyway.

Every time I touch the screen, the virtual keyboard pops up. Is there anyway to stop this from happening when using the keyboard dock?
I'm using the galaxy note 10.1, but this was a thread I found in my google search. I figure the same would apply.

I had the same issue and found a work around from another member. Go to the play store and install the 'Null Keyboard' app.
When you first drop the Tab in to the keyboard, you will get a message about the device will be using the default on screen keyboard. After acknowledging the message, press the keyboard key on the physical keyboard. Then touch the keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen and select 'Null Keyboard'. Done, no more on screen keyboard when touching an input field on the screen.
The only downside is that you will have to go through this process every time putting the Tab in the keyboard dock.
If this helps, click my Thanks button :good:

Samsung keyboard frustration

I love my new s5 but i started to notice that when i typed my phone didnt fix my words. I went into my settings and found out i dont have the auto replace setting. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix? This is annoying. Here's a screen of my missing "Auto-Replace" option.
Just download and switch to the google keyboard.
I prefer the Samsung one.
