Hi,
I got my Optimus one not long ago and I bought kingston 8G for it though it would work fine. The phone read the card well and show the memory correct and I can use it pretty good on my phone. The thing later I found out is the phone itself restart after the idle time exceed 1hr which is crazy. The phone works really good until I upgrade my original sd card (samsung 2G which came in with) to Kingston microsd 8G. I don't know where exactly is wrong, and I couldn't return the sd card either since it work fine on both phone and on computer with card reader. If someone got same problem with me, please let me know or help me out!! Thanks in advance.
I think it is a firmware problem,Mine and others do the same with the standart 2G card...
Firmware keeps updating itself when I go on WIFI connection. I don't know about these stuffs either. But now, the problems are ended..the phone doesn't read any card anymore whether 2G or 8G, it keeps saying that "sd card removed. Insert a new one". I've tried restart again & again but the message doesn't go away and my phone decide not to recognize the card. Both of the cards work fine on computer. I think I need to visit the shop where I bought to check on it. Btw, is that problem considered in the warranty case? I don't know.. It wasn't even a month with me. So sad!

Are you using any app2sd ? If yes, it could be a problem also if ur using an app storing data on your SD card. It makes you're cell restart.
I have the "mount / unmount" problem on my LG, I saw on a french forum that it was better to try with another file system, sometimes it was solving, sometimes not. I don't think it's really a card problem, I gave my LG GW620's sd to my girlfrend and her old samsung is using it without any problem's, but on mine it was crashing every 30mins....

I have the same problem but more problem when my LG O1 didn't recognize the card and I couldn't mount or format the card on my phone.
This happened when I partitioned the card. My PC still sees the card well but my phone doesn't.
I read a lot of posts from a lot of forums and I did try every guides steps by steps but it seemed as the LG O1 doesn't have any button-press-combination as others. For ex: when I pressed Back + Power On, nothing happened as It was said that the phone might come to FastBoot.
As help on this issue will be in much appreciated.
I fixed it. If your PC still recognizes the sd card, it's ok. Go to Manage (right click on My Computer) -> Device Management -> Storage -> you should see your card there. Try to delete volumn or format the EXT2 and Linux Swap.
Put the card back to your phone. It should recognize the card and then, unmount and format card and mount it back. Done.
I have a small question. What is the best class for this phone? The class 10 is fully used by phone or does not reach that read/write speed? Some micro sd class 10 are declared between 20 and 30 MB/S. The p500 has these capabilities? Or a Class 6 card is enough?
Thanks
UP!
The price for 32GB class 6 is very different from class 10.
Lg Optimus One is able to full use write/read speed of class 10?
Thanks
Help! I inserted a sandisk 4gb class 4 and my phone didn't recognized it (i got the 'SD card removed. Insert a new one.' notification). Then, i inserted back the original 2gb sd card from the box, but that notification is still there and it can't be recognized. But both my PC and a another android device (a galaxy tab) can detect it. So, i tried formatting both the 4gb and the original 2gb with the galaxy tab and inserted it to my O1 but nothing has changed. I tried updating to the official V10E firmware but it makes no diffrences. Any help please?

For future, don't remove SD card during phone is running because of app moved to SD card. Especially when you plan insert new one, and if you do that with custom ROM with app2sd its equivalent to suicide.
Is mass storage mode works? Is MS works in curstom recovery? Did you try format memory card in phone? Delete of caches?

Thx for the reply,
I haven't install a custom ROM yet. All i did was enable JIT+HW accel from a thread here.
1. Mass storage didn't work. It just appears as a new drive which i can't access.
2. I updated my O1 to V10E... I lost root, custom recovery,etc. so i can't try that
3. I formated it with another android device (a galaxy tab)
4. How do you delete the caches???? Sorry, new here
You had got me. For now I have not idea how to proceed.
Anyway, remove battery, remove SD card, clean sd card with some soft cloth, check if metal contacts looks fine (try clean that if not), insert SD card, insert battery and try it again.
If this not help, you can try some shaking and so on. It's sounds crazy, but I know one guy whose shaking helped him to flash firmware to phone, which not works at all. Maybe it's some cheats for all these issues.
ad 4) You can delete caches via custom recovery, but related to 2) you can't so, this hint is useless.
I did everything u said. I checked the SD card & the slot and they seem ok.
This might sound dumb, but what do you mean by 'shaking'? Which part are you suppose to shake?? Sorry, im still new to androids
BTW, i went to the LG customer care. The technician checked it and said that they are going to replace the SD card slot. She said that sparepart (the SD card slot) is going to arrive sometime in mid-January due to the holidays.
By the shake I mean grab phone and do quick movements with phone from left to right and back.
But it seems, that you have some trouble with hardware part(s) of phone.
So I got my SGSII today, and rooted it (using CF-Root), and installed VillainRom 1.1. Since doing all this, my SD card won't work. It can be read perfectly by my computer. I formatted it to FAT32 in Windows, yet still the phone doesn't recognise it.
Under "SD Card" in the options, I get "Total Space: Unavailable" "Available Space: Unavailable". Also, the "Mount SD Card" and "Format SD Card" options are greyed out. I tried booting to CWM Recovery, but there wasn't an option to format the external SD.
When the phone starts up, it shows "Media scanner running..." then immediately afterwards "Media scanning completed", as if it's not scanning anything.
I've tried searching, and manually looking through threads as well, but I can't seem to find anything useful at all.
So my question is: How can I fix either my phone or my SD card in order for the phone to accept the SD card? Many thanks in advance.
Hi, try this, turn off take out battery and sd card give it five mins then put them back in a d restart, it might do the trick?
I did have this problem as well but I solved it. here is the trick
i put the sd card to my old phone and reformat it, then plug in to the computer reformat it. (Make sure you don't cant the setting in it except the Name). then plug in to the samsung galaxy s2 and it works. hope this helps

My only old phone is an HTC Hero; would that work do you think? I've tried reformatting from my computer to no avail.
Just to add some more info. I tried re-flashing the CF-Root through ODIN, and also the VillainRom 1.1 through ODIN. Neither has fixed my SD Card Problem.
Okay, I managed to fix the problem. It turned out that it was, as said above, the formatting of the SD card. I had tried multiple programs but eventually found the sdcard.org official formatter, which did the trick.
Thanks everyone

My micro SD card reader doesn't work at all not even recognize my MICRO SD card and none of them i have tried 4 micro sd card, from normal sd card to sdHC.. I have been using Gingerblur and the external SD card was not working properly then I flash back to 4.1.83 to get my Bootloader Unlock so in 4.1.83 the External SD card was not working at all.... I have tried a lot of memories, I tested them in a pc micro sd card reader and all was working properly in the PC but my atrix don't recognize any micro SD card that i put in... So now Im in recovery mode and i Need the E: Disk to flash a zip file for navalynt's mode I dont know what to do!
Exchange it. Had the same issue, only fix.
I've had this happen on my MyTouch 4g and my old G1. I think at some point rooting ends up corrupting the cards. I don't think this is an atrix problem. The only thing that worked for me was wiping and formatting the memory card again. Because it works in the computer you just make a backup. As far as being in recovery you just need to boot out of it that's not a big deal.
There is a known issue with the contacts in the sdcard slot in the Atrix. There is a fix which involves bending a pin slightly, but I would return the phone for exchange/repair rather than risk messing it up yourself. I would think this is your likely problem. You could try moving the sdcard around in the slot and putting a wee bit of pressure on it to see if it suddenly shows on your phone. This could possibly verify that the slot is the problem.

Maybe it is because the problem started strongly since I flash Gingerblur and when I flashed back to 4.1.83 and unlock the bootloader I noticed that it hasn´t been working when I was trying to see CWM 4 to flash Gingerblur again, im going to reformat my SD card but I think that this maybe it is not going to fix my problem.

Could you give intructions or a link to try to fix it, because the seller could refund me a portion of the money paid to fix it or I can return it because i already bought another one new but REFURBISHED, this phones have a lots of issues, wifi, fingerprint, etc... My samsung captivate never gave me such problems...
I took the sd card then put it again with pressure and without pressure, i tried but in anyway I have tried no respond was given from the atrix.. so it is not recognized at all...

before you guys go and return any phone unnecessarily, please swap out for another SD card as it may simply be that the SD card became corrupt with flashing a new ROM (as does happen), there is absolutely no reason to assume it is a hardware issue until you have attempted another SD card first, if another SD card does not work then yes get Motorola to fix it, otherwise, you will need a card reader to format your SD card to fat32 iirc

well since I found this thread through searching for a solution for my problem, I figured I should update with another solution in case others find the same thread through searching
one day my phone decided to stop playing nice, and without reason, started boot screen looping.
flashed it with a 354 recovery.img, and then a 354 update.pkg and then installed streakdroid 1.9.1 over that, everything went swimmingly.
then weeks of stability later, I did a reset (not the first) and weird **** came up (from the bottom of the screen, the one that normally can't be rotated to... saying "send this device back for repair, performing format do not remove battery" or something like that.
nothing was happening, so I tried to turn it off, nothing, so I pulled the battery, reinserted it and again, ran fine.
then, a day or so later, I reset the phone, and now it just loops the dell logo.
I tried flashing a 351 recovery.img, and running a 351 update.pkg and still just the loop.
I tried a nandroid backup and it says it can't mount /data/ because e: does not exist
I seem to be able to flasheverything and anything (except the nandroid data) and I have no idea what to try now...
so if there's nothing more I can do, I will need to know what the current australian ROM version is so I can flash it and maybe get it repaired.
does anybody have any suggestions?

This sounds like the error I have seen people report with ClockWorkMod. Is that what you are using for a recovery? Have you tried StreakMod recovery?
yeah, I've only used streakmod
everything I've used has been made especially for the streak, afaik...
if all else fails simply swap out the internal sd card and put in a new one. flash it with qdl tool.
Had that same errors and phone was replaced because of internal memory problem.
It´s strongly recommended to flash the stock rom/recovery/baseband first - even if its going to loop on the bootscreen - before you let Dell replace your device! You know, flashing other roms than the official ones void your warranty!
sounds like a corrupt internal sd card, if u got warranty, use it, if not then ull need to disassemble to format it

Yes, this was what happened to me as well.
You can confirm this by doing the internal sd card test. This is accessed through fastboot, but I can't remember the number combination to get there. It's around here somewhere, just do a search.
From a FAQ that was on StreadDroid.com:
1. Turn off your Streak
2. Hold down the camera button all the way, as you turn on your Streak
3. At the white screen, dial in the code *#301# – This will open the engineering mode that allows you to run individual tests.
4. Dial in 10 then press Enter to run the ‘SD & SIM’ test
5. The “Internal SD” test should pass, and it should show “permanent write-nonprotect”.
internal SD card failed
internal SD:
SD card error!
CMD/Data test : PASS
Permanent write-protection
I'm assuming the best and thinking that means that the SD card had a boo boo and it had nothing to do with my interference...
so can peeps help me one more time and tell me which recovery/ROM/baseband is the current australian builds? the warranty guys are anal about that sort of stuff...
and a stupid question while I'm on the topic, is the BB amss.mbn file for a build in the update.pkg for that same build? if it's different, I'm going to need a link for the amss.mbn file because I don't know what corner of the internet they're hiding them atm...

this is the latest official australian build its 318BB... u probably just got a dud unit, thats my guess..
i remember wen i got my N95 yrs ago i got a dud sd card.. i told em its just the sd card but theyre stupid and nokia replaced the hole unit just in case
like i said, if u have warranty, just use it
PS. when u get ur new unit, be sure to use the 354 rom, its uses the the australian standard frequencies..
either 11 or 00 regions work best.. check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=File:Dell_Streak.png#ROMs
There's currently no such thing as an 'australian build'
Streaks sold there are either the US or EU model (i cant recall which) and use the 00/retail roms. Of those 351 is the latest 00 rom.
If your innerSD is hosed how are you going to install a rom? the rom lives in the innerSD
I had a big long writeup, but the forum timed me out...
I've looked up some YT video's about how to get to the internal card
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6w4AbtIGp8A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0f9N99gAP3w
the first video shows me where the internal SD card is located, the second shows me a cleaner way to get to it...
I need a smaller star screwdriver than what I have to get to it, even the tech guys at my work don't have a screwdriver THAT small...
but I have a few questions, I've looked some, but I don't think this kind of info is easy to find...
so, questions:
what are the size and speed specs of the internal SD card slot? logic dictates that it'll be the same as the external card slot, (32Gb class ?)
I've read that there are three slots inside, can I use all three?
if so, are they only accessed by apps like ASTRO and the like, or can I get to them via the data cable?
has anybody else done this kind of thing? is there anything I need to know?
is there anything else I can mod/tweak while I'm in there?
and, finally, how sweet would it be to get a triple calss 10 RAID 0 going on in there? I'm sure it's all but impossible, but unless I ask, how would I get to know right?

If your phone is still in warranty you should use it, there was a known problem with some Streaks being shipped with a bad internal SD Card.
If it is out of warranty and you choose to replace the inner card I can state from experience that you can easily get access to the card by cutting the back cover with a razor/exacto knife. There is a pic in the thread at MoDaCo that illustrates this. Of course the phone I altered was already dead and I was not able to resurrect it, so I have no way of knowing if my surgery had any ill effects.
A pic of the one I altered is attached.
Edit: the red text is right on the actual internal SD card. You move it to the left to remove it.
be sure that u kno that when u open it up u completely void all warranty, its not like flashing. YOU WONT GET AWAY WITH IT.
Happy Streaking

solved!
I got two new class 10 SDHC cards, a 4G (and a 16G, for the external )
I pried it open with my fingernails, and using a T5 torx screwdriver I opened the case, swapped out the internal SD straight out of the box and closed it up.
I had streakmod 3.2.8, streakdroid 1.9.1, performed a streakmod factory reset and it just started, no formatting, no warnings, no need for a nandroid, it even used my launcherpro settings (which is strange, because someone on this thread mentioned that the internal SD card is where the ROM information goes...)
after using tools like SD booster and SD tools I found optimal speeds, and it's working good.
I expected a better quadrant score considering I went from a no name generic card to a 20x class 10, but still, it works, and for $8 it was worth it.
Occasionally when I reboot the device it doesn't recognize my SD card and I have to eject it and re-insert it for it to show up. Anybody else had this problem?
I've read somewhere in an obscure post in this forum that the best way to format your SD card to avoid problems is to ONLY format it using SD Formatter 3.1. For some reason, the standard windows formatter tends to be buggy and the formatter on board the Tablet will tend to reject some 3rd party downloads. Sorry I can't provide a link. I used 3.1 and had no problems downloading 3rd party apps or accessing my apps with the tablet. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link. Used it to format my 32 GB Sandisk and the card works like a charm!
Sent from my Rooted Nook Tablet!
Also make sure you test a second SD card. They can go bad for sure and the first signs are intermittent reading of them.
Hi guys, just looking for your opinions here - my nook tablet (rooted) will not recognize any SD cards that I try to install. I have an old 16GB (class 2) card I pulled from an OG droid. I've formatted the card using windows7, a camera and lastly with SDFormatter to no avail. If I install the card while the nook is on, it will do nothing, and the menu screen where you can see 'additional storage' will be greyed out. If I install the card when the nook is off and try to turn it on, the boot will hang before it gets to the white screen with the nook read forever or whatever that says tagline. Windows7 recognizes the card and I'm able to move files to and from it from my desktop but have had no luck in the NT. I also have another 32 gig (class 4) card from another OG droid that I've tried to install with no luck. I didn't format the 32 gig card because I'm currently using it and didn't want to deal with transferring all the data to and from it.
My question is, do you think it's my nook or the card(s)? I would hate to buy another card if there is an issue with the NT. Any help would be appreciated.
I think your 16gig card may be bad and your 32gig card is not formatted using SD Formatter 3.1. If you don't want to lose your data on the 32gig, go out and get a 4 or 8 gig Sandisk card for 5 or 10 bucks, format it using the right format program and I'll bet you're good to go.

Honestly, I didn't have to format my card(s), either old or new or ones transferred from phones, etc that I was using. It read them all right away, various brands, classes, 4gbs, 16gb, 32gb.
With the NT plugged into your pc, does your pc see the SD card installed in your nook? It mounts it as a separate device, so this should give a clue as to whether it's a software/hardware/bad card issue. Multiple cards failing is pointing toward one of the first two options though, imo.
I would back up whatever you have on the NT and do a factory reset (a full re-imaging, not just a soft reset of your settings - this requires a repeated failure of the reset for it to initiate re-imaging, i.e. hold on/off button + n button being held down while it resets to halt and reboot it until it starts actually reformatting and re-imaging). It honestly can't hurt; I had a few wonky things with my NT that factory reset fixed (including battery life, and a flickering pixel). I'm usually the first person to look at you in horror if you suggest wiping a device, but there is something funny about this machine, as a reset has been fixing odd (hardware related) issues for some people.
Thanks guys, I'll give your suggestions a try when I get home tonight.
Also - are you guys rooted? I didn't know if that might be effecting something?
UPDATE:
With the NT plugged into your pc, does your pc see the SD card installed in your nook? - No, it just reads the 1GB partition
- I just tried this and it did not fix the problem. It did not read the 16GB formatted card or the 32GB non-formatted card.
I'm now backing up all of the files from the 32GB card, which I will then format and try to install on the nook. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll head into the store for an exchange.
