Hi all,
I'm a longtime iOS user who just upgraded to an ATT Skyrocket (android LTE phone) and I'm really unhappy with the battery life. However, I really crave a big screen so I don't want to switch to the 4S unless I have to so I'm checking out windows phone.
I was wondering how the battery life on the Titan is while listening to music saved directly on the device through the Zune software.
On my iPhone I could listen to the iPod which drained barely any battery (maybe 2-3% an hour at most) while using the Android stock player (which i found to be the best in terms of battery) it's more like 10%+. I listen to a ton of music while working everyday (10+ hours) so having 10% drain/hour just because the music player is going on in the background is unacceptable to me.
Also, are their lockscreen controls for the music player on the titan? And does it support in-line headphone remote control (double click to skip forward, triple click to go back)?
Any experiences? Thanks!
I've found it really light on the battery while listening to music especially wit wired headphones though it is pretty good on Bluetooth too. From the lock screen you can pause and wind and skip. Also the volume.controls work without unlocking.

I find the battery life amazing compared to my Atrix. And I think my atrix has the largest or one of the largest stock batteries on Android.
I flew from the west coast of the US to London last week, listened to music the whole way (with the radio off on the airplane, obviously), when I arrived in London my battery had drained down to about 70% full. With airport and connection in Chicago time, that was about 16-17 hours of listening. In general I am pretty happy with the battery life on the Titan.

Yes it supports these controls. I was using the headphones from my old Samsung Focus.
About everything true to the iPhone in terms of media playback, is true tithe HTC Titan. Except for purchasing music videos OTA, though that may be my inability to find any MV via the mobile Zune marketplace.
Well, and if you have sensitive cans/IEMs, then you may also notice a slight dc spike when switching tracks.

If you only buy the Titan to listen to music by itself, then you should have a good/fair battery life, but if you buy it to play games, watch out cause it will drainyour battery quickkk

If you buy it to play games, you should buy a PSP or 3DS...

To be fair, the same can be said for any mobile device I've used. Games are just battery hogs. iPhones included.

Hi,
I am considering buying a Hero, but wonder if anybody can let me know how long the battery will last if I am using it only as a mp3 player.
I am think of when I am on a plane and wifi, bluetooth and the phone are all off, and just the media player is playing mp3s.
Any idea of average battery life?
Cheers.
With my Hero the battery-drain is very minimal, when using mp3 player.
Same with me - the MP3 player uses very little battery. Not sure how long it would last, because I have never tested it, but my guess is much longer than a transatlantic flight.
i'll tell you exactly how little battery the music player uses with an example.
I had been using my phone all day at school browsing and texting and games etc. By the time it was time for me to go home the battery level was at 3%, I needed my music to get home its long ride on the subway and the bus. I went into airplane mode and the battery lasted me all the way home approximately 45-50 minutes that was on 3% battery life.
So you can guess how long it would last with a full charge.
about 14~15 hours at least,,
I've been watching my battery life recently as I hate my phone dying during the middle of the day and was wondering if battery life would be affected by playing large music files?
I listen to spotify quite a bit and haven't really noticed my battery severely affected by playing music for a long time but this week I was listening to a podcast which was 160MB (2Hr music podcast if you were wondering) and my battery life plummeted. This would also correlate then to why my battery life plummets when listening to other large podcasts.
Any ideas
Try to wipe battery stats from recovery or calibrate your battery with an app from the play store. Also if that podcast is on the internet or radio i think that's why (those signals like to eat battery) .If not then try switching to 2G only mode when you are listening to them and turn off background data.

wiping batterystats has been shown to do absolutely nothing. Battery calibration apps are also useless. If u were streaming this podcast vs listenjng to music locally, thay would explain the large drain.
I had all internets (wifi and data) off to try and max it out yet it was still plummeting but my CompSci friends have said that it's likely. Thanks for your help guys

Does anyone else find it pretty poor? I think the max I can get is 18 hours, and that's without equalisers, I'm also using 128kbp tracks!
The iPhone 4S can get up to 40 hours music squeezed out!!

If you just want to listen music you can set the airplane mode on, that will add many, many hours.
Last year on holiday i turned on the airplane mode. I was able to get about 25 hours of music on half the battery.
I'am not sure but i think i had at that time the stock rom installed.
I lose 2-3% per hr listening to music & with minimal other usage/screen on time. Someone who works in audio commented in the Siyah discussion thread the other day that the lower the bitrate, the more juice it will use. Obviously the longer you listen to music the more pronounced this increased drain will be.
If you're doing other things with the phone (particularly with screen on/CPU intensive stuff) while you're listening to music, then obviously your drain is going to be a lot higher than listening with screen off mostly.
If you're serious about wanting to squeeze more zzzzs out while listening to music, there are hundreds of threads (thousands ?) about maximising battery life, obviously everyone's phone is setup/used differently, but if you really want to do something about it the info is here for you to do that. You just have to take the time to search/read/learn/experiment with settings.

Well, SGS2 has a 1.2 GHz dual core cpu and 4s has A5 dual core 800 Mhz CPU. By default of course. Then maybe (again : maybe) you need to adjust the governor, and definitely adjust display. AMOLED drying battery very well. And perhaps worth to check other players
So im going on holiday soon and just want a rough idea on how long to expect from the battery with just listening to music in plane mode.
Im currently using xlite v1.3 ROM so my battery use day to day is awesome i get on avg 15 hours use and have 70%+ remaining(bout 40 mins music listening in car, web browsing, calls, texting and maybe 15 mins playing snake), also do headphones make a massive impact on the battery life? Headphones i will be using re either Audio Tecnica ATH M50 or Shure SRH 840 (the Shures are mine and the M50s a friends).
Would really appreciate if someone could roughly tell me as i have a 11.5 hour flight then a 5 hour waiting time and then a second flight of 5.5 hours...
Regards Matt
buy a second battery then you have no worries
I get well over a full day when listening to music (and taking a few photos etc) through headphones. Can't comment on using loudspeaker though.
I use Poweramp and am on Omega v11 so would expect similar battery life to you.

Thanks for the reply guys, are there any decent more powerful batteries available yet?

i bought 3000mah battery from sunglobal, known battery supplier in Asia. but, sadly the performance is worse than original 2100mah..so i make this 3000mah as backup on emergency only..
Bought the Samsung gear St for sprint with the intention to use it for running and listening to music with my beats wireless earphones...I run about 8.5 miles a day and it takes me an hour, some days I like to run about 90 minutes..went for a run today and when I started battery life was at 50 percent. Within the first 30 minutes my watch needed to shut down . Couldn't understand how it could drain so much.
I don't really have to use it as a stand alone phone or texting device. I just want to maximize the Nike plus and music potential.
What is the best way to do that? Do I need to be connected to my Samsung S5 to run the Nike app? I thought the whole purpose of this watch was that it could stand alone. I have sprint service on it.
If I don't want to use the Samsung fit apps that track my steps all day does that drain battery? Any advice is helpful I'm totally new to this.
Thanks
Are you streaming Milk music? If so, then that may be your battery drain.

don't I need the GPS to use it for the NIKE plus app?
Gps & streaming destroys the battery that's more than likely the culprits
