Remove Verizon contacts? - HTC Rezound

In my contacts list there are #BAL twice #DATA twice etc how do i remove them completely? I only want the contacts from my google contacts.
Also is there a way to stop the keypad from coming up whenever you click on phone? It will always pop up in the way so i can not see my contacts.

I know you can get rid of half of those by long pressing those that are on your phone (the picture of the face next to the contact, not the sim card), and then push delete contact. As far as getting rid of those that are on your SIM card, I'm not really sure. I just played around with it, but can't seem to get them to go away. I think I froze SIM Toolkit, but that might have something in there that you can use to delete those.
As far as your dialer coming up when you push phone, that's just going to happen because that is a shortcut to your dialer, not your contacts. You just have to push the people icon in your dialer to see all of your contacts. I use Go Launcher, so I have a shortcut to contacts already in my dock. You could always just set up a shortcut for people on your homescreen if you wanted, I guess. Hope this helps a little.

idk how, buuuuuut i somehow hid those SIM contacts of #bal etc....i remember playing around all day with it when i got it, and somehow i got rid of them...but idk how lol

Go to your contacts and in the top bar where it says PEOPLE click it and it let you choose what contacts you want to display.
That's the way I hid all my sim, facebook, phone contacts and only Google's contacts are showing.
If you want to delete your sim card contacts do the same as I explained but enable only the sim card and then delete them all.

My head is spinning...lol. All I have is the phone contacts from my last plain little ol' phone.
I used to only have one set of Verizon contacts after the initial transfer from my old phone. Then after I went to the store to fix g4 connection, after the rep downloaded LTE on/off app I have double set. Noticed one set was on Sim. Wonder why that happened, hope she wasn't poking around my contacts or something.
EDIT:
I took a peek at what Kratz was talking about and see I already deleted my dupe Verizon contacts that were on the sim. Pretty sure all I did was long click and select delete.

Supposed to work that way. As mentioned by others, if you just want contacts, use People, not Phone.
Also, when you use phone, you can click on the button on the bottom left side of the keypad to hide the keypad

Personally, I don't store anything on the SIM card. So not an issue there for me.

[Q] [SOLVED] Incoming SMS notification during call

I have searched the internet a few times over the last few weeks and find only the same old, dead threads with poor solutions or seemingly good solutions which have been pulled from the market (such as app called "missed call"), and nothing new, so here goes:
It is a documented Android phenomenon: we hear nothing when a text message comes in while we're on the phone. There is no LED so glancing at the phone from time to time (I use headset) doesn't cut it. I have to try to remember to wake the screen to check from time to time and sometimes I miss time-sensitive messages.
Are there any solutions that I have missed? I don't really want to go the route of BLN, or 3rd party SMS app; I may have to I know. But I do hope there is a way to make this shiny new top-notch device do a basic thing that has been accomplished by every device I have owned since this one

You did not say what exactly the solutions you tried, so I'm not sure if you already did this: go to Settings > Call > Call alert > Alerts on call and set it to sound, or any of your preferred settings.

Oddly enough, i never saw this before. I must have looked in the Sound settings menu 10 times. I'll try it out, thanks. If that fixes it, i wonder why it was off by default in the first place
Edit: It works, thank you.
You're welcome! I'm still very new to all this (android and the SGS2), so I'm looking around my phone, playing with it, trying to figure out things.
On a related note, do you know how to get custom alerts for text messages? I can't figure it out, and I doubt samsung took out that simple feature that's been around since I can remember.

I can see that, but I cannot use other ringtones besides what's pre-installed in the device. That is, if I want to use an MP3 music file as my SMS alert notification, I cannot add that file to the list of SMS alert notifications. Is it really like that?

Ah ok, so what you have to do is go in your "sd card" the built-in memory, not "external sd" and create a folder called "Audio". Inside here you make 3 more folders: "Alarms" "Notifications" & "Ringtones"
You put whatever you want for sms/email, etc in the Notifications folder, it should show up in the list for choosing your sms sound.
Thanks! It took me a while to get back to this thread (been really busy). It works!

[Q] Messanging icon...

Question about an icon in my text message log... when viewing all of my messages there are two contacts names with an "x" in a circle (icon) on the far right side of the column. Anyone have any idea what this means? I googled it can't find anything...
By the way I'm using unamed 1.3 rom
I'm pretty sure you are looking at their google talk status.. You should also see green and red circles for friends who are signed into gtalk.. It's not an issue and I don't know how you would get rid of it if it bothered you..

Here's the thing... it doesn't do anything. Also... why wouldn't it show up on all the numbers? Neither one is on Google+ and the only other accounts I have are FB & Twitter and everyone in the message list is linked to both.
i'm pretty sure thats their google talk status. If they're signed out of gtalk, it will appear as grey or an 'x' (depending on the rom or theme you are running). I can't think of anything else it would be. As as test, look at their contact in your address book, it will probably have the same icon. If not, i'm at a loss as to what else it could be.

you dont need google+. if you signed into google talk at least once on your phone, then that icon may appear. no google+ needed.
Gtalk and google+ I think are not the same. Gtalk is connected to your gmail account because everyone who uses gmail is on gtalk. So my guess is that you have their emails and they use Android or previously used gtalk/ email you through gmail. ~ my guess.

I dont think they are the same, but I dont know that for sure. However I have never even opend the app, so that eliminates that I think. I looked over the user manual, didnt find anything there... Im using unamed rom, I dont think its rom based.
Nope, not ROM based.. Ask those friends to sign into gtalk, their status (the grey circle) should then change as well.. I'm 100% positive it's gtalk related because I have grey, red, and green circles by many of my contacts.. I'm just not sure how it got picked up with certain contacts of yours if you say you never signed into gtalk on your phone..

[Q] How can I Activate Android (after a restore) w/o Registering the phone?

Hi,
I tried searching, but it's such an odd question that it is hard to find a word combo that results in efficient, but relevant search results lol
What I'm looking to do: use the Galaxy S "Fascinate" as a PMP/DAP and not activate it as a phone at all, basically just a Galaxy S Player. I specifically decided on this since it uses the Wolfson DAC and fit my budget!
The problem: the person I purchased the phone from had (understandably) wiped it clean before sending it. When powered on it goes right to the "Press 'Send' to activate your phone" which only allows me access to "EMERGENCY CALL" / "SEND" options.
The question: How can I boot the phone into Airplane Mode, or bypass the Activation screen (either permanently or temporarily so I can then turn on Airplane), so I can then use it as a PMP?
If you need any info, please ask, I'll provide all I can with what I have! I do have a USB cable for it at least! If that'll help any...
I got a Fascinate 2 weeks ago for the same purpose (works great, I might add). When I got it it booted into safe mode the first time (no clue on that, it was new to me). I put my google credentials in then. The next time (I think) it came up with the emergency call thing. What I can't remember is if it said anything about activating. I just went through, set things up, played for a day, then rooted & rommed it.
Where Verizon doesn't do sim's I think you will be safe to keep going after the activation screen. It will spin it's wheels for 30 seconds then keep going. It won't be on their network since you didn't call Verizon, so oh well. I keep it in airplane mode with wifi toggled on & no shortcuts to the dialer anywere.
I am using Skankwhich's CM9 rom. Using Titanium I have frozen a bunch of stuff with no ill effects, including: setup wizard, talk, voice search, various live wallpapers, apollo, com.android.smspush, email, exchange services, sms/mms pref...(it goes off the screen), pico tts, rom manager, sound recorder, voice dialer, vpn dialogs. There is more that can be frozen. I haven't finished messing with it.
Do not freeze [voicemail] phone, or sms/mms/apn phone/messaging storage, or contacts. You might not need them but bad stuff happens.
Good luck & enjpy!

I'll definitely have to go ahead and give that a go. I figured it was actually calling the network heh
EDIT: Well it had started calling after I got signal, so I canceled it quick lol But then I remembered you had powered off and back on (first I found out holding power brings up an option menu which included Airplane Mode), so I did that. Powered back on and HORRAH! It booted right into the main Android screen ^_^
Thanks again, no telling how long I would've sat on that screen lol
No problem. Have a fascinating time!

how do I make direct dial shortcut save photos?

When I add a direct dial shortcut to home screen, the contact photo appears with it. But soon after, with no apparent cause I can connect, the photo disappears. I can use apps, turn the screen on and off - no change. It almost seems it's related to time. It stays about 10 minutes and then it's gone. I know this sounds crazy.
I am using Go Launcher (new to it, having preferred Launcher Pro), so don't know if that's the problem.
Anyone else have this happen?

Ugggh! Another dark theme.
Juat kidding, my friend.
I re-added contact shortcuts with photos today a couple of hours ago, and they seemed to stay, but when I just checked, one has already disappeared (not the contact, just the photo - the photo is still attached when I go into contacts, just not the direct dial shortcut).
I'm thinking of doing a hard reset and starting fresh, not because of this one problem, but because I think it might be an indicator.
I bought the phone from a guy who only had it 3 months (perfect condition), and who told me he did a hard reset. And he took his SIM. AT&T set it up for my account, as I assumed it was restored to factory because of what he told me. Then when I went to add my photos, I discovered his were still there (seriously, Dude, do all men have their male body parts on their phones?).
So I think I should start totally fresh, and see if that fixes any of these little problems. Also, sound notifications and ringers are not always the same.
I of course have factory ROM, no rooting or flashing, and it is locked to AT&T.

No, not Facebook contacts. I don't even do Facebook. The inconsistency is what drives me crazy. Yesterday one out of 5 disappeared. I put it back on this morning, and all 5 are there for now.
It's a problem with Go Launcher. I uninstalled it fully, synced my Facebook pictures, synced Google so that it would save, and then reinstalled Go Launcher and set up my direct dial shortcuts again. Haven't had a problem since.

Lock screen notification pop up preview

There are certain features that are very important to me like being able to ready message on lock screen .. I'm very dissapointed that this phone does not have that option
I feel like we took a few steps back from previous phone software
I switched from the HTC one m8 and I'm considering switching back

I said the same thing. People argued with me and said the G2 didn't have that ability, but it certainly did. In the message/notification settings.
I really want that, option, as well as call reject, a native flashlight app, LG browser and task app(Verizon sucks), the ability to sync my Facebook calendar with LGs. There a ton of little things I'm missing

To read messages on the lock screen just get Dashclock widget and Dashnotifier extension. (may not even need the dashnotifier, can't remember for sure but I have both) and put the widget on your lockscreen in place of the clock,
See that's the awesome thing about Android is if you don't like something about your phone or want a certain feature.... Then change it! Between Apps and Xposed modules you can make a really nice stock ROM with pretty much anything you could ask for. Once we get the bootloader unlocked and start getting custom ROMs, forget about it, this thing is going to be a BEAST!

Xposed has the xblast module that has lockscreen notifications and lockscreen flash in it but it crashes sometimes so I use floatify and I love it. For flash light I use the g3 tweaksbox by assigning one of the volume buttons in "miscellaneous tweaks" when the screen is off.
