Hi EVO 3D users,
I have a simple question:
I'm using my EVO in Germany with a 300mb data flat and till today everything was fine. No speed limits. but now tmobile made it and pushed me down on the hard ground of limited internet speed. I was searching on the web for some solutions and I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888372
You know it is for the EVO 4G but isn't this possible for my EVO 3D GSM? Or is there any other way to get around these stupid limitations?
Thanks in advance

I just followed all the directions and there was 6-7 throttle files that I removed. I did one speed test and had results of 1.5 mbps 3g. I'll see in time but the throttle files are present and can be removed.
@blakeboys
Did you try this mod on your evo 3d, or do you own a 4g as well???

""shooter on Deck""
I was pretty sure this wasn't possible no matter what you do. If it is though this is a big deal.

You have any instructions how to do that for the EVO 3D?
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using XDA App
I own an Evo 3D. I followed the same instructions as the Evo 4G and pulled the services.jar, did the whole baksmali deal and removed the throttle files from the "classes" folder. I then did the smali deal and pushed the services.jar back into the phone and rebooted.
In summary: The instructions for the evo 4g work the same for the Evo 3D. Even if the mod does not improve performance, at least it's something to do.
Also, I'm guessing you could just flashing the Data Service Governor Killer .zip on the post in the OP above. BThomas22x's Data Service Governor Killer.zip

I don't have a gsm device so I have no way of testing. Backup your phone and try the mod out yourself and post your results.

Nope, doesn't work for GSM Did all the stuff and still have throttled speed. So seems to be bad luck for all GSM users.

I've been trying to Google this and got no results. All the youtubers I asked and all the Google searches I did and I got the same result. The cdma e3d is for the USA and gsm is for the rest of the world...ARRRR! I ALREADY KNOW THAT!
So can someone please explain the internal differences between the cdma and gsm 3d and why can't gsm users flash cdma Roms (if the radio remains untouched). I'm sure I'm not the only 1 wondering why the cdma EVO 3s gets so many more roms than gsm users.
Please don't flame at me if this question has been asked elsewhere.

I was also searching for this and already found out that its kernel related because it has some other drivers and stuff running to maintain the cdma network.
Theres kernel and framework differences. Even if you were to extract a gsm kernel, and put it into a cdma.rom, it still wouldn't work properly. I've looked at the frameworks for both phones, and there was a lot more differences in the code than I had previously anticipated.
The reason there are more cdma roms, is simply because there are more devs/chefs/tweakers that use/have cdma phones.
Also many old & new developers for the CDMA EVO 3D came from the EVO 4G, which had a huge following on the same carrier.
It was like a migration of birds.

Ah, that explains it. I was wondering why there is so much more development going on for the CDMA E3D than the GSM, seeing as how Sprint is the only carrier using the CDMA. Stupid, multiple standards!

Wrong.
Verizon and U.S Cellular both use CDMA.

But do Verizon, US Cellular, or MetroPCS offer the EVO 3D? That's what we're talking about here, the EVO 3D.

I stand by my comment about stupid multiple standards. Get with the rest of the world, U.S. carriers! Stop being different just for the sake of being different.
Now, not knowing anything at all about ROM cooking, will it ever be possible that ROMs for the E3D may be able to support both CDMA and GSM, or is there no way to code that kind of logic?

Well kinda. It's not hard to write the ROM for the gsm EVO if you made a ROM for the cdma 1. But It's hard because It's gonna require testing on a device which the cdma dev does not have.

Hi guys. In the settings of my gsm evo 3d there isn't the 4g option!!
Why this? And the wimax settings there arent' too!!! Why why!!?
I think you have the GSM version of Evo 3D. Where do you live?
I live in italy. But the 4g doesn't anyway have to be in settings?
The GSM version of the HTC EVO 3D does not support 4G in any way, shape or form.
And the wimax?
The GSM version also doesn't have Wimax. As far as I'm aware (from reading on here) the SIM slot in the GSM version is the same place as the Wimax would be.
All rights thanks. This thread can be closed.

There are a lot of different tech's and the names are often interchanged, it is not surprising people get confused tbh.
Although this gsm evo 3d does support tmobile usa 4g, Hsdpa . The limit on the phone capability is 14mbps
I get speeds of 5-6mbps and 6-7mbps on average around so cal.

He's actually a great developer over in the wildfire s section. I ran his sense 3.5 Rom and his 2.1 and they're great. He's also helped me out through pm trying to fix some stuff. Thanks jmztaylor! And welcome to 3d world, did you get your 3d yet, or is it even out for VM?
About your poll, I pay sprint for service but my phone says Virgin Mobile because I was one of the few that had to flash that red hot VM firmware leak, but ill be back to all sprint soon.

You're a bad troll and you should feel bad. Look up bloodrain's posts if you want to be a troll.
Also OP, are you talking about Firmware or actually have bought it on VM?
IDK about you but if I'm going prepaid I'm going to go to a GSM network that runs on a good carrier like ATT.

Jmz, I flashed my sprint evolution 4g to my virgin mobile account.
I thought the Evo 3D came out just about a year ago on Sprint, perhaps 13 months. Why would anyone break contact with a year to go to move to VM? I'm sure I'm missing something here.
I recently bought the Sprint branded Evo V 4G but that's not the users you're looking for.

Do you need a donor to flash 3D to vm now that the firmware is out?
EDIT: And does it have to be a smart donor?
How's the service for Virgin Mobile? This divorce is going to cost a lot of money. Trying to cut back on everything just to stay afloat.
I installed the VM firmware the first day we were told that it had to be installed to run freeza's ROM, but I have not had many issues like others. And after flashing the nocturnal release, I cannot find anything on my phone that references VM.
How do you flash to VM? sorry if that's off-topic
On Sprint here. Worst customer service, limited signal, great price. Lol.

You cannot.
Straight talk runs on att network so you need a gsm 3d phone.
There is no way to flash cdma to anything but boost, cricket, maybe metro PCS.
The x515a evo 3d would be specific for att bands, x515m for USA T-Mobile bands.

I would also be interested in this. I just need to know what would need to be changed. Also, there are plenty of "paid" flashing services that use straight talk for the evo 3d. I also happen to own an active CDMA straight talk phone. Im using the crappy flip phone because I am uncertain what settings need to be migrated.
I have the msl # for my phone, so I can access the menus. I am not asking for instructions, just simply 'The PRL needs to be changed, etc. etc." maybe a quicklist ? I love my evo 3d. Help ?
I am also absolutely positive that my current straight talk phone is CDMA. Maybe they have access to a couple of diff. networks ?
If you are not comfortable putting this into a reply, PM me. I am uncertain what they are, but I know there are some boundaries.
I am also a fairly competent engineer, so there would not be any "hand holding" necessarily.
Using qpst it can access all secret programming of phone, there are about a dozen changes done with that program, then finding compatible prl, MSID #, usually ask your provider. It's like your phone number, but not, usually next area code over.
Pull up some YouTube vids, saw it IS possible. Odd cause str8talk in west is using Sims, anyways google always taught me, take guide for OG EVO, same process.

Nevell posted earlier in his thread that he flashed the evo shift to straight talk. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27079247 should be close to the same for the 3d.
Can anyone give me a link to the 25004 prl, also how are you speed on it?
Can't help you with the .prl file, but how you going to install it?
The new evo doesn't support ##prl# like the old one did.
There are already ways to install PRLs via CDMA Workshop.
