Hi All,
I'm sorry if I'm not suppose to post this here, Please delete if that's the case.
Just eager to share with you guys that the x86 intel port ICS is running unbelieveably well on my Asus UX31!
I can't wait to see ICS on our transformer Prime, it's gonna be so awesome.
And to my surprise, almost everything works, wifi, internet, Market, (sound not working)
You get a really good feel of what ICS is like, so for those who can't wait any longer for the official ICS arrives to the prime, here's the link to the file, burn it to a CD or make a bootable linux USB and install it on your laptop. (The description says it's for Asus laptops, but I've read that people got it to work on other laptops or tablet PC)

I think he was doing it just to play with ICS, not as some sort of permanent solution.

That actually sounds interesting. I think I'll give it a try on my Asus UL-30A. Its got a U7300 processor which doesn't necessarily scream on Windows 7, though it does work well when I boot up Linux Mint 11. It will be interesting to see how ICS runs on my machine.
As for running it on your UX31 it would definitely handicap that nice machine but it would be a really cool feature to show off!

ICS on Prime
I just watched video on youtube showing this. Anyone have a link to ICS build? I would love to try it. Thx

If i use the method found here: http://www.debian-archos.com/wiki/doku.php?id=en:install will it wipe my current setup and if so is there a way to back it up?
No. If you've got the SDE installed then it'll be replaced by Debian but stock Android will be safe.
Hey, i went ahead and did this today, wanted to replace my android kernel anyway as i was getting a bit bored of it, can always rollback hehe. It's pretty good, but i wish i had a working keyboard or mouse with it, the on screen keyboard is so hard to navigate with.
Yeah its cool n all but it just doesn't feel right for the tablet format. Your right about the keyboard but the Angstrom one was far worse. Have you checked out Bodhi linux? Thats one im really looking forward to. If you want a kinda feeler you could install e17 over xfc or lxde, thats what i did on mine in its pretty cool, but just be sure to have a usb keyboard handy for logging back in after changing session ( the virtual keyboard wont come up the first time ).
Na, although i found the debian install guide through the bohdi thread. If there could be a way to use the mouse with touch screen without it selecting everything everytime you move it and a decent virtual keyboard i'd be on it so quick, i love linux. I saw a video of a guy using the compiz cube desktop on a monitor touchscreen and instantly wanted a decent linux distro on my tablet haha - tho im no developer so i shall not complain, just wait patiently =]
I think if by next pay day if there isnt any other sign of anything i might try and find a decent keyboard and mouse combo for my archos because i would love to join in the testing/helping of trying to get a nice linux distro working comfortably on these nifty little devices, but it's taken me a month till now to be suggested a flash drive that these thing's will actually power so i hold no hope for that (on my end).
I just checked out the bodhi linux site... O.O
Fingers crossed aye =]
My father-in-law just got his Prime and he`s wondering if there is a way to make his USB internet stick work with the Prime by plugging it directly into the USB on the keyboard dock. The internet stick is made by ZTE and the model is ZTE MF668. I don`t think that it would work but I`m pretty new to Android so I wanted to make sure that I was right. Any ideas?
Thanks
Jeff

I think its more like to work than not. USB host support is pretty ubiquitous
TF201 | XDA Premium
I doubt it due to the lack of driver support. It'd be similar to not being able to connect a printer to the USB port.
I think it might. But if he has both why doesn't he just try it.
He has tried it and didn`t seem to get anything coming in. But I guess he was wondering if there was a setting that could be changed or an app that could be downloaded I guess.
Jeff
The ZTE MF668 requires OS-specific drivers to work, so unless the company that made it (ZTE? Huawei?) has made some Android drivers (don't look, cuz they haven't) it is unlikely that you will be able to get it to work.
Ok thanks for letting me know for sure. It`s pretty much what i thought but being so new to Android I wanted to make sure.
Better word/excel processor, free for now, try it out
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.onlive.desktop
It isn`t available for my prime in market
Not available in my country (Norway)
MarketEnabler solved the availability
So its better than splashtop?

I was just reading about this from last week. I haven't used it yet, but it's a free virtualized Windows desktop from what I understand. Meaning it's essentially just like Splashtop in that you will have a Windows environment, however you don't need to provide the endstation you're connecting to like Splashtop- they create a virtual one on their servers. How much you can install on it or how long the sessions persist, etc, I haven't figured out since I haven't used it, but ideally this would give you free access to the Office Suite from anywhere for creating docs...
Anyway, like I said that's my understanding w/out having used it. Off to try it now
EDIT: Anyone getting it to work? I created an account, and when I try to log into the app, I get stuck at a "Connecting" hourglass...
Working super well on my Prime. Just upgraded to the $4.99/month plus version (Using it to post this - much better experience than splashtop for me.
not working for me :/ telling me my internet isn't high quality enough, even though I am on Fios, with 27000kbps download, so I dont see a problem.
Can you use Firefox or do you have to use Internet Explorer?

how did you install it on a prime?
same with me, says "Network Test Failed: OnLive was unable to complete an iInternet connection test. This might be caused by your router or firewall blocking certain internet traffic."
Tried this at work/home networks and tethered to my phone. No dice with all options
It's working super fast on my Prime, but I was let down when my keyboard dock didn't work. You have to use a built-in keyboard from their VM. I suppose I should have expected it, but I was looking forward to using a fully-fledged word processor with my Prime's keyboard.
Too bad.
Thought Id try this out, works great on my prime with flash and the browsing is amazing.
Definitely worth the extra and has increased what the prime with its dock can do.
Have to say that this kicks ass for a free service. Wonder how they support it considering I haven't seen any advertising yet.

My keyboard dock is working. Restart it and try again.
My keyboard works fine also. Is there a way to download programs? I don't think there is, but that would be awesome
Could someone post the .apk. It's not available yet in the Netherlands.
Thanks in advance

Not working for me
It's not working for me either. I sideloaded the app on my prime.
It tells my my connection isn't good enough, which is strange considering I can run Onlive just fine.
Anyone got a workaround?
Just got my Xperia tablet Z yesterday. Loving it so far.
I was wondering what I can throw my videos to (their DLNA sharing feature).
I have my computer, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360 hooked up to my TV.
I would think that the PS3 would be the most likely device, since it can stream videos from a computer. How do you set that up?
Thanks
*bump*
Just to follow up, this feature works but isn't that great, in my experience.
You can turn on 'media server' in the Xperia settings. The device showed up on my ps3 and computer, but in both cases I got an error when actually trying to play a video. I'm sure I could fiddle with it to get the files to play, but I don't think I'd use it anyway.
What I was hoping for is, I could watch a video on the bus on the way home, and if I don't finish it, I wanted to effortlessly finish off the video on the bigger screen. I don't think it really works that way though.
I throw to my WD TV Live. Works perfectly with music, doesn't at all with video (but I don't mind, I mean, it's a WD TV Live so I don't need a smartphone for that )
I just picked up my XTZ today finally. Was trying to throw from my Xperia Z to the tablet but can't get either to see the other device is available :-\
Sent from my Xperia Tablet Z
The trow feature in my opinion is fantastic, but extremely temperamental.
I throw video to my Xbox 360 constantly, bearing in mind that my videos have to be coded a certain way with handbrake in order for them to show.
That's even before it recognizes the device. Every time, it takes me 10minutes just to get the tablet to see the Xbox is switched on. It requires multiple reboots of both the Xbox and the Tablet, It seems it must be done a 'certain' way in order for the tablet to recognize the Xbox.
Let's the feature down big style.
The most important thing to bear in mind when using DLNA is that the DLNA-server decode the video.
The DLNA-client shows it.
If your device can't play MKV with DTS, then it won't work.
The best thing you can do is to install PS3 Media Server on your computer with MPlayer.
Then use your computer as file-server which can make all your devices play all file-types.
I use it on my KDL-46V5500, PS3 and XTZ.

I'm not sure 100% but I think that I have read that since last june update Throw doesn't work on XZ, must be verified as I don't use this feature for now.
Yeah, this feature isn't really useful unless it's dead simple (for video anyway).
If it takes 5 minutes to get it going, you might as well just copy the video over with a USB stick.

Yeah no worries. Wish throw worked to a PS3. Have to use the media server feature of the tablet/phone instead. Would have thought I could throw media to the tablet too but guess not.

Throw works pretty well for me actually. I can throw to my TV directly. (Samsung 55ES8000), as well as a Sony Google TV device. It's actually kind of convenient, and always begins working within just a moment for video, and audio. So I guess as goes with everything; Your mileage may vary.
I'm new and I don't mean to be a bother.

Hi. The reason I'm replying to your comment it's because I have a question that it's related to what you were expecting from the throw feat, but I don't know if this is the right place to ask or where to start this thread. But anyway... here it goes.
I just got an Xperia z1 and its the first time I heard about the throw feature and it got me thinking... I know this is still a little far fetched but hey, great products have to start somewhere. So, what would be needed to make something like throw but more powerful? almost like the software that Tony stark uses in the Iron man movies where you could actually "throw" an image with a gesture on your smartphone to your TV or xbox without the need of syncing or asking for permissions. Now, I know this just causes a lot of trouble because of the matter of privacy and security (you know, you wouldn't want strangers sending porn to your tv while your kids watch cartoons), not to mention that there's the matter of choosing the actual device that you want to send the file to among all the other devices, and this means that there would be need of a lot of new protocols and a lot of work but you have to start somewhere, right? I'm sorry if I'm being naive, I know developing something like this would take years and a team of experts but I'm willing to work hard and do a lot of research. I just need someone to pint me in the right direction
I apologize in advance if I'm just wasting everybody's time. I'm just a begginer developer that just started an engineering career in computer systems. Also I've been playing a lot of Watch dogs lately and the idea of accesing everything from your smartphone is just so fricking mesmerizing
I'm getting a new HP Stream 7 (great price!) and wondered if anything regarding Android on it has happened? I've Googled it and not much comes up. There are also a few posts on here that haven't gotten much response but as it was over a month ago it was posted and it's a new device, has anyone gotten anywhere with it?

I have gotten as far as getting a boot animation and that's it. I don't know what the problem is. I am trying the 4.4.2 from that Intel project. I have done everything needed, but just can't get the full install. Something is stopping it and I have yet to figure it out. Did get Win 10 preview onto it though, and that takes care of the bitlocker problem. I am about ready to trash the entire drive and see if I can't do it that way. And as always, make a recovery backup before anything else. Also have a OTG and powered 4 port USB hub, wired keyboard and mouse ready, you will need it all.
Android on HP Stream 7
I've been trying to put Android on the HP Stream 7, Windows 8.1. Cheatman's Magic Stick got the furthest, with Android actually coming up, but then it would always shortly freeze at a random time. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that the processor is x64 not x86? I always got two error messages initially during bootup:
ioremap error for 0x3b7d2000-0x3b7d3000, requested 0x2, got 0x0
/home/dds/build/android-x86-new/kernel/drivers/rtc/hctosys.c: unace (rtc0)
Booting would continue but the process would eventually freeze, even after the various Google Apps were updated.
The Intel Project images all seem to be for a different platform; I wasn't able to get the images to be recognized and booted, even the 64-bit ones. The Stream 7 is not an expensive piece of hardware, but it would be fun to have Android running on it.
