[Q] Evo 3D GSM is Lagging too much - HTC EVO 3D

Hello guys,
I got my Evo 3d last week and at first i thought its amazing.Blazing fast, no lag, perfect connection, incredible 3D, etc.
2 days after, i switched to live wallpaper(Streak) and it starts some hitching like;
-all kind of scrolling lags
-sense 3.0 home screen spinning entry animation hitches(carousel spin)
-application menu hitches
-half of a second frozes, 3D effect hitching
-In Epitome: Not smooth anymore
Even with normal wallpaper it got some lags.
It doesn't make sense i think; evo 3d got dual processor CPU and 1 gb ram how can a live wallpaper make it lag?I hard reset my device but no luck still got lagging. There is only one update in my device, it says its up to date. Should i change my device from where i bought? Maybe i am wanting too much thing from a phone that expensive?
If anyone know how to fix or what is the problem please tell. I appreciate your help and I have endless respect to your work. Thanks from now...

Have you downloaded any task managers or killers?

No i did not downloaded any of them

What ROM and kernel are you using? Do you have a CPU controlling app such as SetCPU?

I dont have any CPU app or any kind of upgrading app. I have only quadrants.
My EVO has its stock Rom for EVO 3D GSM,
software number: 1.20.468.6
Kernel: 2.6.35.13-947321df
[email protected]#1
If you want more information, just tell me where can I take it, which menu etc.

My suggestion would be to either do a data wipe in recovery, or to do that and install a custom ROM. LeeDroid (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1245424) is probably the fastest ROM I have used. I would also recommend a custom kernel, I personally use the Anthrax kernel by chad.goodman http://www.androidfilehost.com/main...lic_Test/HTC-SENSE/AnthraX-SENSE-GSM-1217.zip.
When you install a custom ROM, first do a data wipe and then install it, then boot it, and set it up. Afterwards, when you flash a kernel in recovery, do a cache wipe, install the kernel, and do the cache wipe again.

Thanks so much for your helpful reply first;
I thought about flashing a custom Rom, kernel but I don't want my device be the fastest EVO 3D I just want it to be like the others, factory smooth. Maybe I must do harder reset like you said datawipe recovery

Factory smooth isn't always as smooth as the phone can be. And remember that when you do a data wipe, you'll have to sign into your Google account again and sync back your data, but that should fix your lag problems. Don't forget to hit the thanks button if I helped

you helped me a lot man, thanks, really
can you show me how to do data wipe step by step?
is there anything else like data wipe kind? is there a solution that you reminded (different way to fix) ?
thanks again

No problem
In order to do a data wipe, you have to have S-OFF and a custom recovery. You power on the phone holding the power and volume down button. When you are in the bootloader (white menu), scroll to "Recovery" using the volume buttons, and select it using the power button. When you are in recovery, select data wipe using the buttons the same way to select the choice.

If i do them, my guarantee goes right? Can i make my guarantee valid back? What should I do?

Are you rooted S-OFF? If yes technically yes you can revert back to stock to regain your warrenty but it depends if you rooted via HTC or revolutionary if the HTC method then they will know it's been done.
If you want to flash a custom ROM then you need to be rooted with a custom recovery as already mentioned.

my device is completely stock i didnt do anything to it like rooting it my warranty is so important for me because im in Turkey .thats why i am asking

If its completely stock then boot it into safe mode ( turn it on then hold the volume down when the splash screen appears untill it booted) if it still lags I'd say u have a hardware issue if not then I'd guess at a third party app.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using XDA App

you say it can't be a hardware issue right?
Will boot make my guarantee invalid?
I made hard reset but boot is different i think can you talk about it a little?
What is third party app?
and lots of thanks again

I'm saying it may be a hardware fault my man if it is a replacement will more than likely be needed. A third party app is an app or game that didn't come pre installed on the device sometimes these cause issues such as lock ups and lagging. If u boot into safe mode it will not run these so u can get a rough idea if its something u have installed causing the issue.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using XDA App

what do you say now? Should i replace it? my english is bad sorry for that.
i cannot get into that safe mode or menu my friend i think my device should be rooted or s-off for that thing im reminding my device is completely stock maybe because of that
thanks again.

Don't need to be rooted for safe mode I don't understand why it won't boot into that it should. My best advise would be to back up factory reset and if that don't work replace it.

Thanks for your help anyway my friend

Turn the phone off
Take out the battery
Replace battery
Hold volume down button
Don't let go of volume down
Press power button
Will boot up, continue to hold volume down until boot
Should be there
And get Android assistant from market, clear caches,
And what kind of live wallpaper, where did you get it?

[HOWTO]Tilt calibration[SOLVED]

Ok.
Does anyone know how to calibrate the tilt of our phones?
It seems mine has somehow got screwed up
EDIT : SOLVED !
Here's how i did it
1)The code for the menu is 3845#*500#, Type it in the dialer
2)Select 'Device Settings'
3)Get this app and put your phone in a perfectly horizontal position, don't go stand on a slope or something [this step is very important]
4)Select Calibrate Sensor in the secret menu
It will then search for the available sensors, 6 of them will popup, but select the one which has the word 'accelerometer' in it. They are some pretty confusing names but the accelerometer sensor has the word 'accelerometer' in it. Don't select any other sensor.
4)Wait for 3-4 minutes and your phone will reboot.
5)Voila !!
Notes -
1)Calibrate your sensor only of it is screwed up bad, as in you play some game and the the car/person/doodle just moves around randomly
2)These don't work on custom roms, not even rom based on stock LG ROM's. I tried on v10e stock romania and it worked.
3)If your accelerometer is only 'uncalibrated' by a slight bit, DON'T use this method as it is pretty dangerous. Instead games like PapiJump and MypaperPlane 2 have the option to calibrate the accelerometer. Use them
4)If you are using a ROM with an unsupported kernel [like Phoenix with fserves kernel or Miks 6.5.8 with francos .35 GB kernel] the accelerometer won't work, period. So don't flash unsupported kernels with any random ROM's. If you don't know which kernel supports which ROM, Go right here
I'm not sure if wiping rotation settings in recovery will help but you can try.

Ok, tried bro.
Still no change
Download a level app from the market and make sure it is actually screwed up. If it is, wipe cache and dalvik cache and if it still doesnt work, make a nandroid backup, wipe data and system (And all caches off course) and reinstall your ROM. Then install a level app again and if it still screwed up, send to LG Service.

Ok lets start from the beginning. Please describe your problem and provide some details (what do you mean by tilt? Do you mean the accelerometer? When do you encounter this problem? When did you first notice the problem? Have you been using tweaks?, etc)
What rom and kernel are you using? Sorry if it's already in your signature (you can't see the sig in the app)

Yeah, its the problem in the accelerometer [i think]
I'm on andy's ROM v17 using .35 kernel.
I installed this ROM a few days ago, however i played doodle jump just yesterday.
I noticed that the doodle just kept moving sideways when my phone was perpendicular.
I noticed the same problem while playing nfs shift and asphalt, the cars just keep moving towards the right
Yesterday at night [i got pissed] and i kdzed to 10e then tried playing on the stock rom, but still the same problem.
I'm not using any tweaks AT ALL, just OC.
I've read that there is some command to type in the terminal emulator/adb in order to reset the vectors, but i cannot seem to find them.
Here is another similar problem on a different phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19291776#post19291776
I also had the same problem on miks 6.6.1 when playing asphalt 5.But after i deleted Asphalt 5 and reebooted phone, the problem had gone.
these are the only things ive found (but i really doubt if they work):
1. use apps that have a calibration function built in (however i think this only calibrates for the app, not the entire system in general)
2. rotate the phone around all three axes several times (not sure if this will help, but it doesnt hurt to give it a try)
3. ive also read something about using the hidden service menu, but you need to be using stock (i just took a look at it but all i found were tests and nothing about actual calibration, however i might be wrong)

See my first post.
I used that app to get it in the right position and then long pressed home to go back to the menu, then went forward with the calibration.
My menu had a certain version, don't remember cause i just flashed phoenix but it was 0.6xx ..It kinda looks like the custom recovery but it is in the form of a popup [like the one which shows ur call balance]
Also when it started rebooting, it arrived at the LG logo and then again shutdown on its own and restarted again.
I tried the menu thing in andys rom, but nothing pops up.
I guess its only 'stock exclusive'
AS goes for the menu there were the following options - [some which i can remember] factory reset, factory version, Device settings, auto test, LCD, bluetooth, WAP or WAN something laddat...more which i dun remember.
The calibrate thing is under device. There were a gazillion tests under the same subheading [touchscreen, camera, mdpi[?], fmradio..etc]
It also wiped off my root.
It would be nice if sweetnsour could include this in his sticky

Camera problem? Anyone

So after the ota update I started going through all of my aplications and clearing cache and while on the camera app I accidentally erased data like an idiot. "Doh!" Well after doing that I paniced and went to camera to see if all was well but unfortunately not. Everytime I enter it it shows for about 2seconds then shuts with no sign at all. No force close message or anything. And if I open it real fast, press menu button and keep it like that, the whole screen flickers blue until I press home twice. Now I have to click in camera, exit real fast, then enter again for it to work. And if I kill it in task manager ( in the quick settings tab) I have to repeat it again. So any ideas to make it work normal again, or has anyone had this done yet? Any feedback would be appreciated.

[Q] WidgetLocker Lockscreen f-ed my phone?

Soooo I started using WidgetLocker again yesterday along with ADW EX for an ICS-ish theme. Well today I started having some issues with WidgetLocker not allowing me to answer or even see a phone call when my phone was locked. Well to take things further; just an hour ago, when I woke up, when I unlocked my phone my screen was blank and unresponsive. All I had was the notification bar at the top, but it is unusable, and my wallpaper showing. So I rebooted my phone and then disabled WidgetLocker. Well now I'm stuck with just the wallpaper and notification bar on the screen. Nothing works accept the power button and I can't reboot or anything without pulling the battery. I never froze the Sense Launcher or HTC Lockscreen. So... WTF do I do other than wipe my phone and re-install everything??? :'(
I think you have some other problem and it is not widget locker.

eh? had to edit my post. my screen isn't actually blank, or off, there just isn't a home screen or lock screen, and none of the buttons work accept the power one.
Are you rooted and unlocked? If so make a nand backup and try wiping. This will allow you to troubleshoot. Report back and we can go from there
I'm rooted on inef 1.4 , I did that and it didn't work. WidgetLocker kinda pisses me off that it can mess stuff up that badly now. Do any rezound users have problems with it? I went though the settings trying to find the culprit but couldn't. Then once I disabled the app everything just broke.
I ended up wiping and staring from scratch. Not using that app again.
I wanted aosp ICS looking stuff but I'm too lazy to desense and theme apps now. I miss MIUI lol. soo easy to change everything from system apks to icons. Makes want to buy a nexus and put up with all the missed opportunities on the phone just to have aosp lol.

If you do go back to using it again, set up HomeHelper if you haven't done so. Also, unsure of the package names, but you can uninstall using ADB. Having this happen once before, I had to ADB shell into the phone and remove ADW. It's a rare occurrence but does happen.

LOL, I don't think so.
I used it forever in my DroidX & it worked fine. All I did was install it in my Rezound & I immediately lost the ability to answer the phone, how is that "user error" ??
boot your phone up without the sim, it should take you to the home screen. Dial *#*#4636#*#* and make sure cdma+lte auto is selected. Power down and re insert sim, and boot back up.

completely remove widgetlocker and see if it still happens.
I did completely remove it. That's when my phone was totally unusable. Before I did that I could reboot to get it to unlock at least. Idk what the app did or altered to mess up that bad. I'm glad I was rooted and could fix it.
My fix I mean wipe and reflash the rom

True. What's bad is that there is actually a market for a really good one. Money to be had there...
I have had troubles with this app as well. actually it worked kind of alright when it was installed (but it glitched/didnt work occasionally so i got rid of it) but when i uninstalled it somehow the widgetlocker lockscreen still comes up before my current lockscreen (GOlocker). i dont see how this is possible, any ideas? also it usually does this after booting the phone, after its on it pretty much never shows up. maybe reinstall it and wipe the app data with Ti backup, then uninstall?? not sure what to do here

Recommend Me A Lost Your Phone App

I used to use Lookout but since ICS or JB for the matter it sucks if you end it in multitasking it FCs. So with that scratched of the drawing board what is their? I want something with a nice web interface. Thanks!!!!!
I don't know about web interface as they just added it but theft aware was hands down the best before being bought by avast, after settings and configuration you had the option of integrating the app and settings into the os and it will survive a factory reset. It is free now that avast offers it as part of their software
cerberus. you can do a whole lot of things with it, and you can make it installed into the framework of your phone (from what I've read) Take screenshots with the camera remotely, record audio, track using gps, force lock with pin, all from your computer. I think there's a one month trial.

This App is great!!!
Avast is good, none of them can withstand a wipe from recovery though. So if it's stolen and the thief knows anything about rooted phones they can just fully wipe it. I emailed avast about this and they said there is no way to protect against that.
That is true but if you are a paranoid person like me then you remove custom recovery and only replace it when you flash a rom

[Q] Phone is running laggy after kitkat

I'm totally stock and I updated to kitkat a few days ago. But I've noticed after I start typing for about 5 seconds, my phone locks up and doesn't reply to touch for another 5 seconds. This also happens when attempting to scroll through messages, the internet, or even playing games. It keeps locking up. I did a factory reset and it didn't do a damn thing.
Also, I keep getting told my wifi connection is unstable and I'm a good 10 ft from the router.
Someone please tell me what I can do. My phone is not rooted. And I'm hoping I can solve this without root.
Did you do a full factory reset after installing it? You could also try flashing the full tar.md5 in PC Odin and do a full reset after everything installs and settles down.

Also, I read reported instances of this happening but only on the nexus 4 or 7. I believe it's called ghost touches, or phantom touches or something. Even as I'm typing this it locks up and the screen becomes unresponsive for a little while. I liked 4.3 way better.
