Canadian Owners of Nook Tablets - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

I am a Canadian who bought a NT. I thought I would share my experiences so far.
I bought it from BN themselves, with a Canuck credit card that has a US address associated with it. It was delivered and picked up in the States. I live and work in Canada.
There has been no problems buying books and apks through bn.com. And netflix just worked with my Canadian account, which I already had.
Unfortunately I caanot use the Amazon Appstore, even though I use the same CC with the US address on amazom.com. I also cannot use the Android marketplace because I ddo not own an Android phone, so I don't have one tied to my google account,
So here in Canada, getting apks installed has been an issue. But overall I am very happy withmy NT.
This site is a tremendous resource as well.
Cheers,
Matt

If you root and install the android market, you should be able to associate your gmail account with no issues. You don't have to have an android phone to gain market access.

Im a Canadian with rooted NT and Google market is working fine.
Just root your NT.

Rooted my Tablet and it is working fine from Australia. Can't do any purchases from B&N due to locality restrictions though!

Regions for installing apps.

Hello all.
Thinking about buying an HTC Hero, but after reading a bit in various Norwegian sites, I'm beginning to think that I cannot buy all applications that I want. This because there is some regional locking or something??
I really want to buy CoPilot navigation software for my navigation needs, but really start to wonder if I actually will be able to...
Anyone who knows about this?
Best regards
Tommy
Yeah I have the same question in Hungary! What is the reason of using this region locking or what...
I think it's just to do with the paid apps thing.
When the US got paid apps... we didn't have them in the UK, anything that wasn't free wasn't displayed up until recently I think
When paid apps and/or google checkout comes to hungary you should be able to buy.
If not wait a few weeks for someone to root the Hero and install a US/UK or developer ROM and you should be able to access all items.

Need Amazon.co.uk apk

Can someone post the Amazon.co.uk apk? I recently got the S2 to replace a 3GS, hoping to escape Apple's App Store segmentation (among other things), and am now getting that lovely "This item cannot be installed in your country" message. I live in Scandinavia so Amazon UK is my correct portal.
I had the same issue with the official BBC app, but when on holiday in Germany over the weekend it suddenly installed.
I will try this method to fix the situation in the long run, but for now I'd appreciate the apk.
Thanks!

Amazon App Store in the UK

Following a hint from a friend in Australia, he had found that the Amazon App Store had started to work over there and I have now got it to work on my Desire HD in the UK. Haven't tried on the Vega yet as that is at home and I am at work. Pricing is still in USD, but I could get the free downloads with no problem.
You get the apk by clicking https://www.amazon.com/app-email from your Android device. You need a live Amazon account, but my UK login credentials seem to work fine.
downloads not working in your region :-\
On my Vega in the uk
It was confirmed that there seems to be a gradual roll-out by TechRadar today. Not all accounts seem to be able to do it though. I am wondering if it is something to do with Kindle which appears to register my UK account on the Amazon.com web site.

Same here :-(
OK, that was clearly a momentary aberration on the part of Amazon as after a couple of days, access seems to have been revoked again.
Sorry to have got any hopes up. Hopefully, it was a test run to a full roll-out in the near future.

[Q] Australia - Google Wallet

Tried the usual method of using Market Enabler to download Google Wallet and then trying to launch the application. But it won't play nice and I can't even get into the application. The process worked on my SGN
Anyone else had any luck? If so, how?
Thanks in advance
nope i get the error
unfortunately google wallet has not yet been certified in your country
have you had any luck?
No luck on my Galaxy Nexus, Same error: unfortunately google wallet has not yet been certified in your country
www.modaco.com/topic/354635-region-device-root-patched-google-wallet-apk-11-r67-v12/ works for me in Brisbane.
I used this method and got it installed, but seems to be an old version?
Thought you could now add Visa cards?
I don't have mastercard.
Latest version isn't available on modaco yet.
Note that you can't add a Visa or Mastercard with a non USA billing address and expect it to work. Not sure about American Express.

Did you use the top method to top up?
I've got a US unlocked Visa card set up. Haven't used it yet.
Works for me in Sydney - but I didn't get the free $10.
And where can you use these in Australia?

[Q] Availability in UK from non-Google store?

Hi,
I frequently visit the UK and would very much like to get my hands on a Nexus 10. Unfortunately, since i don't have a UK credit card i don't seem to be able to order from play.google.com ( i get some bogus error, but my guess is that the problem is the credit card ). I have considered getting some of my UK colleagues to order it for me, but i am thinking that will be a hassle if there are problems with it.
Therefore i was wondering if anyone know of any other UK physical or online stores that sell the Nexus 10?
PS: I realize there is another thread on availability, but it covers the whole world and mostly talks about getting it from the Google store.
Nope, only the Google Play Store currently sells it here in the UK.
