As posted earlier, I was having trouble sending texts to a few select people. The first post here should tell you what's going on: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375480
So I spent around 40 minutes with ATT chat support. Through-out the support, the guy asked me to turn off my phone, after I did so, he told me he was sending something over to it (or something along those lines) and once he was done, he told me to turn it on.
As expected, this did not work at solving my issue. But he tried again. I went along with it, just to be compliant.
However, does anyone really know if he did change some settings or send over something to my phone? I'm leaning towards the placebo affect, but I'm not too sure.

wipe your phone completely out and use a different rom. SOLVED
I used to work for Verizon tech support, when they say that they are probably updating something in their system... Verizon has a couple different systems in which you can change things to try to solve the issue..I don't suspect Att would be too much different ..that's my opinion

It isn't as simple as that.
On the post I linked to, I was using CM7.2. Right now I'm on MIUI and it's still the same issue. And yes, I wiped everything.

What are you using for your email client? I've used Lotus Notes Traveler (i know, yuck - no choice) on Liberty, Eclipse and Molten and haven't had a problem with any of them. The initial sync may take awhile depending on how large your inbox is and such. With Traveler, at least, it does some sort of authentication with the first sync and will report connection errors until it makes it through the first time. I had to wait forever until i decided to do some housekeeping in my inbox (long overdue) and tell it to sync only 1-weeks worth of history...
well i got with my IT guy from a different state and we are able to figure it out, had to get some file out of the way dont remember exactly how it was blocking it but he also roots and roms his phones so knew generally what was going on. i do appreciate the insight for sure, thats why i cam here was to find some insightfulness before actually having to tell the IT guy i was messing around haha, but gladly he was understandable telling me he's almost bricked numerous phone by always trying new stuff. i really wish i knew what we deleted so that way i could post it on here, and see if it would help anyone else or so the dev's could take a peek, maybe was my phone but i know i did full wipe before flashing so kind of hard to say, but again thanks i know noobs will be noobs but i also know forums and how to look before asking! im on overclock.net and such for pc and understand the aspects of what to ask and where! haha
Im rooted running Eclipse 1.3 and I have no problems with my corporate email... we do have our own exchange server here in IT so that may be a difference... I can even wipe my entire phone from my web accessed exchange email.....

As an IT guy myself, i think screwing around with technology is in our blood. You should ask him, see if he remembers, i would also be interested in knowing what your actual issue was. I had problems that seemed to surface at one point with the Blur email, it wouldn't authenticate. It seemed to work for a while but one day... It never seemed to be an issue with eclipse however because I could set additional parameters that allowed for security etc.
My internet won't work. My carrier is Iwireless I've never had issues with it. I put this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531135 rom on my phone and afterwards the internet stopped work. I flashed back to stock and the internet still doesn't work.
So earlier I odin my Samsung vibrant back to stock, Thing is I forgot to take my sim and my SD card out... It still worked and I still get service I can text make phone calls and all that. For about an hour or so afterwards my internet worked just fine. Now it doesn't work at all. I'm not sure if this was because of odin back to stock while leaving my sim in or not.. Any help would be appreciated.

if your sim card was damaged youd have more issues i think, it seems like a software problem what id do is do a full odin back to jfd and try out different modems, you may also have to set your APN's manually which can be a pain in the arse but could be the source of your issues, check your apn settings to be sure.
also seems to be a problem ongoing and being discussed in the thread you linked to, it may be helpful to read through it.

Thank you for replying, I have done a full odin back to JFD and it doesn't seem to help, I've also set my APN manually and I know its 100% correct. Still can't seem to figure out why I'm not getting an internet connected. I'm doing a full ODIN again back to JFD. But its most likely not going to change anything.
just an fyi for the future, expecting answers and giving the attitude you were before is not gonna grant you alot of help on these forums generally speaking if you are having an issue with a specific rom its best to ask in that thread and if you ask politely you are more likely to get someone who is receptive and willing to help you.
There was no attitude? At all.. If you took it that way I'm not sure what to tell you.

Pretty sure he was referring to this. But yes, it is better to ask in the ROM thread and then if many people are having the same problem it can be worked out there.
No worries though.
One thing. When you put in your APNs did you hit save? I have done that a few times and facepalm each time I forget.
There is an app in the market called APN backup/restore that I have used many times. Something is breaking your connection for some reason. I'll work on it later tonight. Let us know is Odin solves it though.
That doesn't seem like I had an attitude, I just figured someone else would of have the issue. I've posted in the rom thread as well, and no odin didn't solve the issue. From reading in the rom thread it sounds like a modem issue but I have no idea how to go about fixing it. Anyway thanks for taking your time to look into this problem for me. I appreciate it. I also made sure to check the apn, its saved and 100% correct
iwireless APN
If u don't mind me asking, what APN settings are u using? I have iwireless w/ a Vibrant as well and can't get my MMS & data fully working. I have the unlimited monthly plan not Megatalk.
Did you pay the data portion of your bill?
Yes I have.. I'm not dumb thanks. I've also posted in the Rom developers thread and he wont even respond to me. No one seems to want to help, everyone says flashing another Kernal fixes the issue but It hasn't fixed it for me. I still have no data and my data worked just fine before flashing his rom.
My Fascinate had an unbrickable mod done a few months ago. I tried flashing CM to it, and now it doesn't boot or go into recovery mode. Download mode is ok so far, but only with a jig. Windows and Odin can't see anything. On Linux (Ubuntu physical box not virtual) the 'unbrickable resurrector' (team hummingmod) doesn't find the device. Heimdall only prints a pit file after it first goes into dl mode, then just detects it but fails the loke handshake everytime until it goes into dl mode again. USB drivers were installed (libusb). Almost everything online says that the phone should be recoverable (like from a soft-brick) but the phone's not even getting detected. The place I mailed it to seemed to know what they're doing, but I'm wondering now if the mod was not done perfectly and if that could be causing this weird issue now. This is my main phone, and none of us are getting any younger so let's get some ideas on this asap.
Mainly, I'm wondering how to turn this from a paperweight back into a phone?
I would contact the people that did it and see what they say.
Unreliable repair site?

I sent the repair place several messages, and they didn't respond. It's Mobile Tech Videos. When I first got the mod done a few months ago, they seemed ok. Now it's like they just don't even want to hear about the possibility of there being an issue with their work. I have friends that fix these locally, and they've also tried getting it to work using different boxes and setups so it doesn't seem like the problem is on my end (not saying it's definitely not, just doesn't seem so). I sent them messages asking whether they've had any similar issues, and if it's possible to rule out the original mod as the issue. Nothing, not a courtesy response. Nothing, like they just decided to ignore the whole issue. I actually left them some good feedback for them (originally), now I'm wondering if someone else will read that and think that this place is a reliable repair shop -- I'd feel guilty for steering them to the wrong place based on feedback that's no longer current. I could understand if they had assisted a customer in using the mod (that I paid them to do) and then that customer just didn't want to do anything, just complain, then yes I could understand that they'd not want to deal with that. But I actually just started by sending a message that there was an issue, and if they've got a workaround. Since I paid them to do this, I thought they'd at least respond. Nothing. So that could make a person wonder if they know that there's an issue with their work and just don't want to say. Personally, I'd say a business owner with integrity should either stand behind their work or issue a refund in good faith. That's the problem is that there's not enough accountability in these issues.
The phone seems pretty well bricked right now, and since A) it's one of the older original androids and B) this no one's responded here with any ideas and C) I don't know any one locally who I can trust to jtag it -- it seems more and more likely that this is a real brick.
Hey guys I have a quick question. I've done some searching and am not sure about this. I bought a evo 3d from a friend of mine. It was a sprint phone that is now on frawg. Last week the internet and everything worked fine. I activated it under my number this week and now the internet no longer works. It just says no connection when you try anything internet related if you are not on WiFi. I called frawg and they said it was the flash coming out. Is this something I can fix myself or do I really have to pay these guys $50 to fix the flash.
Come on guys somebody's gotta know about this.I've been googling but don't really understand what I need

Going to need more info before anyone can attempt to help. What exactly was flashed (ROM, radios, etc)? Where did the content that was flashed come from, along with a link to it. No one can help without being able to see what it is.
That being said, a flash doesn't "come out."
Your friend should be able to help you or have the info. Maybe paying the $50 to have frawg fix it would be best as it seems you aren't familiar with flashing.
It is running the stock rom 4.0.3. As far as I know the ntelos radio and prl were flashed by an employee at the ntelos store. He has tried to take it up there for me but she took a few days off this week. I know a little bit about flashing ROMs but I don't know if this is like a ROM or completely different.
So is this something I can do myself?
It is if you have the radios and prl to flash

Can those be found on line? Apparently the person that flashed it does not work there anymore or they just don't want to fix it. It looks like I'm stuck fixing it my self

If it worked before you activated it on your account and you didn't change the phone (flash new rom or RUU) then it isn't the phone. Like I said before, a flash doesn't "come out" like they told you. Flashing the radios over again won't fix it. To me it sounds like it's service related, and only frawg can do something about it. They need to reprovision your phone from their end. The only other thing to check is the network setting on your phone and make sure that mobile data is enabled.
No I haven't tried to flash a Rom or anything on the phone. I also do not receive voicemail notifications. I have talked to a few people at their customer service and in the store and they all say the same thing. ill try to call after work about what you said. Mobile network was enabled but it does. Not connect.
Hello everyone,
I might have a big problem.
This morning I booted my HTC One M7 as usual, and when it finished booting it opened a browser tap with a fake whatsapp update. I closed the browser immediately, and five minutes after this, the exact same thing happened. I started thinking how this could happend, and honestly I have no clue. All my apps are from the play store, and I only download documents for school. I haven't even downloaded a new app in the last week, however 15+ of my apps aren't up to date.
I scanned my phone with malwarebytes and it couldn't find anything. I rebooted my phone after the scan, and the problem seems to be gone. I was telling this story to a friend of mine this afternoon, and my mother said that she experienced the same thing, just a couple hours before I experienced it. After further investigation, it wasn't exactly the same. When she opened whatsapp, it asked her to do a weekly back-up of her chats. At first, she closed whatsapp, but when it appeared again, she clicked yes. She wasn't very clear about this, so I don't know if it was a fake menu, or the real deal. I have also scanned her Moto g (2013), and it found no malware.
I don't know if this could be harmfull. Especially because my parents use their phones for mobile banking.
This is a screenshot of my HTC
It could easily have been done through whatsapp. Part of the reason most people have stopped using it. Viruses run rampant I'm just about all of Facebook apps. And no anti virus will find them as they are vastly different then normal viruses.

In the Netherlands literally everybody uses it, but it's good to know that this could indeed happen! Should I be worried about this, and what should I do when it returns?

Yeah I heard alot of people in Europe use it alot, here in the states almost no one uses it really except for kids. Most have moved to hangouts.
If I was you I would completely back up the device and then wipe everything and reflash the device.
Things like this will not be picked up by so called virus scanners.
I'am afraid that it is something like ShiftyBug (https://blog.lookout.com/blog/2015/11/04/trojanized-adware/). In the article it says that you have to install apps from third parties, but I have almost never done that. I have downloaded popcorntime in the past, but I have deletet it almost 6 months ago.
I'm afraid that if I reflash my device, that it will come back fairly soon. Is it possible that it has spread over my wifi network? Because of the fact that my mother got something similar on the same day.
But how do I know for sure that it is a virus? After I restarted my phone (12 hours ago), it hasn't shown up yet. Am I worried for nothing, or is there a big chances that I'm infected?
Thank you for all your replies!

The key word there is almost. If you reflash the device and it comes back then it maybe something that someopne else downloaded and was shared through your network. As you said your mother also saw it so I would go through her phone as well.
There are many apps out there that do this that are in the play store. So it is all a matter of being careful.
There is a chance. If it is big or not depends on how you use your device. It could also have come from a website someone visited. Im not saying you did but many porn sites are set to infect devices when they visit them.
If it was me. I would just start from scratch with each device and make sure that all the things installed are legit.
You could also run a logcat and try to reproduce it. That would tell you what is causing it.
Doesn't seem dangerous.

Then you have not been paying attention. Any browser pop that tells you to update an app is 99% an infected apk. It is a common practice for those that take apks and re-package them with malware
After reading more i must admit you are right.... My bad:good:
So I have to flash my phone, aren't there any other options? And if not, how do I reflash The HTC firmware to my phone?
Should I make a back-up before doing this, won't the malware spread again if I instal the back-up on my phone?
Thanks again!
EDIT:
Unfortunately, I still haven't been able to reproduce the problem.
I still haven't been able to reproduce the pop-up.
I do propably know where the problem came from, a friend of mine sent me a older version of soundcloud (the new one can't cache music). I installed that app, decided that it was to old for me and deleted it. The malware must have spread right after the first use. I'm planning on flashing my phone inthe weekend.
EDIT: I can reprodce the pop-up! It's linked to opening the app 'night mode', this app was downloaded in the official play store 2 years ago. Since then it hasn't got a lot of updates though.
Hey,
Time for a little update.
Last weekend, I contacted HTC's customer support due to the fact that I couldn't find my software version. They told me that I should execute a RUU, but they couldn't find the right version, so I had to contact the Dutch customer support (I didn't do this in the first place because the Dutch customer support wasn't open in the weekend).
The next monday (23-11) I contacted the Dutch customer support and asked them for the ROM, and unfortunately due to the regulations they don't publish the ROM's. However, they told me to do a factory reset and that should solve the issue. Unfortunately, it didn't. After the reset, I now get a different Whatsapp pop-up once or twice a day. The pop-up isn't connected to opening an app, like it was before the reset.
A friend of mine experienced the same problem this week on his new Moto X. All the other phones in my home network don't have this problem.
I hope someone will be able to help me!
Thanks in advance!

Yes, we both use the wifi network at our high school. But I did the factory reset friday evening, and since then I haven't connected to that network.
It might have spread through that network though.

Depending on the malware a factory reset will not remove it. In fact most malware cant be removed that way. You have to flash the whole device to get rid of it.

In my opinion after starting all over again as you've already been told, you should do all that you did before and monitor each step with patience and concentration to actually understand what's behind this... This may help out

As he said. Here is what I would do if I was in your place. Anyone got any extra steps to add feel free to chime in. This would kinda suck for a bit.
You will need a custom recovery. And a bit of time to set up
1. Take everything off device.
2. Format full device in recovery. Not factory reset. Format system, data, internal storage and both caches.
3. Flash complete stock firmware.
4. Get root before rebooting
5. Reboot, do not connect to wifi during set up. Do not restore anything.
6. Get Catlog from the play store and run it.
7. Then continue set up. Wifi and ect. Scan backed up files with a pc virus scan but only return what you really need.
8. When restoring from TIBU install apps fresh from the market and restore data only to apps. (sucks I know but only way to be sure) make sure to delete old back and redo.
Then monitor catlog. This will tell you everything going on. You would be able to figure it out.

If you would've read it fully than you'll know that the case is far bigger than what you're thinking it is
