[Q] question about flashing for frawg - HTC EVO 3D

Hey guys I have a quick question. I've done some searching and am not sure about this. I bought a evo 3d from a friend of mine. It was a sprint phone that is now on frawg. Last week the internet and everything worked fine. I activated it under my number this week and now the internet no longer works. It just says no connection when you try anything internet related if you are not on WiFi. I called frawg and they said it was the flash coming out. Is this something I can fix myself or do I really have to pay these guys $50 to fix the flash.

Come on guys somebody's gotta know about this.I've been googling but don't really understand what I need

Going to need more info before anyone can attempt to help. What exactly was flashed (ROM, radios, etc)? Where did the content that was flashed come from, along with a link to it. No one can help without being able to see what it is.
That being said, a flash doesn't "come out."
Your friend should be able to help you or have the info. Maybe paying the $50 to have frawg fix it would be best as it seems you aren't familiar with flashing.

It is running the stock rom 4.0.3. As far as I know the ntelos radio and prl were flashed by an employee at the ntelos store. He has tried to take it up there for me but she took a few days off this week. I know a little bit about flashing ROMs but I don't know if this is like a ROM or completely different.

So is this something I can do myself?

It is if you have the radios and prl to flash

Can those be found on line? Apparently the person that flashed it does not work there anymore or they just don't want to fix it. It looks like I'm stuck fixing it my self

If it worked before you activated it on your account and you didn't change the phone (flash new rom or RUU) then it isn't the phone. Like I said before, a flash doesn't "come out" like they told you. Flashing the radios over again won't fix it. To me it sounds like it's service related, and only frawg can do something about it. They need to reprovision your phone from their end. The only other thing to check is the network setting on your phone and make sure that mobile data is enabled.

No I haven't tried to flash a Rom or anything on the phone. I also do not receive voicemail notifications. I have talked to a few people at their customer service and in the store and they all say the same thing. ill try to call after work about what you said. Mobile network was enabled but it does. Not connect.

mogul to metro .. issues

hi, sorry for the noobness but ive never had to deal with cdma...
im trying to get metro to flash my mogul .. we spent 2 hours literally at the store ... an error message popped up on their screen at 99.9 percent .. it failed... i have googled my butt off for an hour and lokked everywhere I could think of but im not findind anything to help me ... trust me i can google lol. so im thinking that its because i flashed an unnoficial metro rom on it and put a new prl ... but not sure if the prl is the correct one? or if either of those are even the problem ... so i was wondering if anyone had this problem and or a solution and if anyone had a download link an official sprint rom because when i try to download from htc site i click download and nothing happens i think something is wrong with this computer soo pls dont blast me cus ive spent too much time and my brain is fried
rom- RM Metro PCS 2.0 (the heavy one with
radio- 3.35.04
PRL- 02001 (it was the last one on the list...damn thing doesnt show dates)
so any help plss would be greatly appreciated
look around for someone to add your ESN to the inventory, you already have the actual flash done, you're only lacking that.
aahh.. i was trying that, but all the local stores say that they cant just add an esn without the device being flashed by metro themselves .. that there is literally no way..
To be honest, I've had 3 phones flashed over to Metro...2 Moguls and an Apache (6700). Before I had any of those flashed, I had set them up with custom ROMs and PRL files ahead of time and still did not have any issues on having them flashed by Metro. The 6700 gave us an issue, but all the guy had to do at the store was install an update for IE and reboot...after that it was smooth sailing. Keep in mind that their Houdini software is a service they have to log in through their browser.
Personally I heard that if you can program all the PST settings yourself and get the proper PRL file, all you need to do is have the ESN registered with Metro and you're done. Only problem is finding a dealer that is willing to add the ESN to their inventory without flashing the phone. Your best bet is to find an authorized Metro store instead of an actual Metro company store, they're a little more willing to be flexible when it comes to things like this.
howard forums has a list of agents willing to add ESNs, I always use them to add an ESN.
thank you both, soo yeah thats def the issue they act like they really cant .. having no way to do it.. your sure they can add an esn without having to flash it themselves ? because the guy that was helping me was really cool stayed waay after the store closed to help me and even said hes done this with the same phone and has even flashd custom roms b4 .. but he was one of the ones who said houdini wont let them add it unless the system flashes it itself.. but maybe if i point out there seems to be no other way cus theres some technical problem here with their system... and maybe the update would help... is it possible to give them an esn over the phone ? then i could try someone who might do it .. if they can..
im about to search howard forums but if someone knows a good link you could throw it at me ok lol it was like the first one in the metro forums lol and thats why people get flamed haha

man at this point i really just want a stock sprint rom and try to metro flash again b/c the only close people are in miami and tampa ... im mid florida... i dont trust sending some guy money over paypal either and hoping my **** gets registered... so does anyone know of a thread with a link to an official sprint rom download that isnt htc america .. because for some reason when i try to dl from there i click download and it just brings me to another screen and nothing happens

*edit*
i found a stock rom digging through the wiki (duuh) hopefuly metro can flash now
actually it worked prefectly for me, you're welcome to give it another try but it's your choice but I will admit I'd love to have someone in the DFW area.
actually i finally found the sprint rom and got it flashed so my titan/mogul is up and running i just have to do all my personalizations now s2u2 s2p and such
Off topic a little but,
Thought Metro was only in Florida. Are they national? If so are they G3?
theyr getting out there... theres quite a few states
but anyway... now im trying to set up wap and mms and the old unlock code does not work do i need a new one for metro or something? i used that one keygen put in my esn it gives me a number i try it it fails .. i am always the one with problem after problem lol
If it a Verizon and(I think) Altell phone it is 000000. If not verizon and/or alltel try baf mslgrabber.
its a sprint mogul.. before metro successfully flashed it getspc was working fine now.. it doesnt .. is there really no cab out there to set all this stuff automatically ? i thought that was the whole idea of a carrier specific rom

I would bet the problem is the limited exposure Metro has.
nope, plenty of people have it on metro with everything working .. just nothing ever works out the way its supposed to for me
I am guessing that metro changed the code for some reason. Not for sure why. You can change the code with QPST. But I dont know if the old code is required to make the change.

could you get metro to reflash then use qpst to check.
if you did you could report and help others
why would i reflash? and that would cost me another 45 lol. i could try qpst .. i dont get it though i was reading some old posts and ryan mogul said his metro carrier roms dont need any editing just to put in usr name and pswrd in pie and ur good to go .. of course this doesnt work for me lol

willl verizon know?

ok about to root and rom. will verizon know if i call them for service questions? what i mean is, i suppose for a tech support call they can do over-the-phone diagnostics. right? if i call for tech support are they able to determine i am rooted and rommed through their diagnostics?
would i need to return to stock prior to making a tech support call to verizon?
thanks
there are honestly very few reps that know anything about the phones they sell
I'm not sure why you'd call Verizon for diagnostics on a device that's not running their software anymore. I'd think talking to the dev would make more sense. I suppose the could tell, but care? Probably not. I told the manager where I got mine that I intended to root it as soon as I got home shd that my old Incredible was already rooted. His only question was how much better the battery life gets.
They will try to help you for sure but they may no be able to since you do not have stock. They can not look up your phone info on their end but they may ask you for info like software or info about the phone from about phone that could give it away. Honestly you're probably better off posting your issue on this forum and having XDA help.
They wouldn't be too helpful not because you rooted but because you have a different piece of software on your phone.
It'd be like calling Microsoft because your copy of Ubuntu is acting up.
>_> big red is all knowing >_> they will find you.. they will GET YOU! >_>
I don't think they can see what software you are using, but I do believe they may be able to see your radio version.
So what about if i pay my bill with the My Verizon app and the thunderbolt ( which they know i have) is not yet supported by them? Not that i care but id think that be a huge red flag lol

Anyone can google "My Verizon.apk Thunderbolt", download it, and put it on their phones. Even non rooted fellas. So no, this should not throw up any red flags other than you are using a modded application.
U r legally allowed to root so dont worry about it

I did this a week ago, my TB lost 3G completely at the house and 4G only works in PHX. It just happens the wife's D1 had no 3G so I called and we went through some settings on the phone and they checked the IMEI number etc. Found out the following day after talking to several Verizon people that the issue was the SIM card on the phone so I took it in and they replaced it and that fixed it.
I was rooted when I called, I went back to stock before taking it in and replacing the SIM card. They knew nothing at all.
It would be wise to just find help elsewhere. I find that online support is better than verizons anyways
I am an AT&T tech rep, so I can only speak for here. Bu universally most of us, despite carrier, that know what they are doing will answer the same from what I've found.
When someone walks into the device support center with an obviously rooted I won't exchange it for them. I will help them, find answers, and tell them how to fix it. I will also explain any known problems, or past problems, I know about with various roms. But I won't exchange the phone. And it's not to be mean. But often times when a person does come in with a rooted phone the issue they are experiencing is with the radio they flashed or the rom they are using. I see this a lot with the Inspire as is.
If I deem it to be an actual hardware issue and I can very the rom is not the issue then I will tell them how to take the phone back to stock so I can exchange it. For the Inspire I keep a handy sd card with the stock image there that I can flash it back right away.
If I know a phone has been rooted and the person brings it back to me with it flashed back to stock, I will exchange it without a problem. The phone is still under warranty and the warranty does explain in most products that not current software alterations exist (Ie: rooting, clockwork mod, unlock boot loader). If it's back to stock then warranty guidelines are meet.
Now with that being said, I have physical access to the device. Over the phone, the only way they would really be able to know is if they asked the software version, baseband version, kernel version, etc... and knew what they were off hand. Things like that. They can't magically peer into your phone over the air to see what's going on with it. That's the reason for their little script techs over the phone have to run through.
Ultimately, the advice mentioned above about asking the dev or the rom thread is the best you'll get. Most times this is your best place to look after a custom rom has been flashed. If a problem is deemed hardware and not software and you have to have it exchanged, flash back to stock and take it in. No tech rep will care if it was flashed back to stock (unless they are having a really miserable day and can prove it's rooted. but that's few and far between and not specific to any company).

Problem

My internet won't work. My carrier is Iwireless I've never had issues with it. I put this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531135 rom on my phone and afterwards the internet stopped work. I flashed back to stock and the internet still doesn't work.
So earlier I odin my Samsung vibrant back to stock, Thing is I forgot to take my sim and my SD card out... It still worked and I still get service I can text make phone calls and all that. For about an hour or so afterwards my internet worked just fine. Now it doesn't work at all. I'm not sure if this was because of odin back to stock while leaving my sim in or not.. Any help would be appreciated.

if your sim card was damaged youd have more issues i think, it seems like a software problem what id do is do a full odin back to jfd and try out different modems, you may also have to set your APN's manually which can be a pain in the arse but could be the source of your issues, check your apn settings to be sure.
also seems to be a problem ongoing and being discussed in the thread you linked to, it may be helpful to read through it.

Thank you for replying, I have done a full odin back to JFD and it doesn't seem to help, I've also set my APN manually and I know its 100% correct. Still can't seem to figure out why I'm not getting an internet connected. I'm doing a full ODIN again back to JFD. But its most likely not going to change anything.
just an fyi for the future, expecting answers and giving the attitude you were before is not gonna grant you alot of help on these forums generally speaking if you are having an issue with a specific rom its best to ask in that thread and if you ask politely you are more likely to get someone who is receptive and willing to help you.
There was no attitude? At all.. If you took it that way I'm not sure what to tell you.

Pretty sure he was referring to this. But yes, it is better to ask in the ROM thread and then if many people are having the same problem it can be worked out there.
No worries though.
One thing. When you put in your APNs did you hit save? I have done that a few times and facepalm each time I forget.
There is an app in the market called APN backup/restore that I have used many times. Something is breaking your connection for some reason. I'll work on it later tonight. Let us know is Odin solves it though.
That doesn't seem like I had an attitude, I just figured someone else would of have the issue. I've posted in the rom thread as well, and no odin didn't solve the issue. From reading in the rom thread it sounds like a modem issue but I have no idea how to go about fixing it. Anyway thanks for taking your time to look into this problem for me. I appreciate it. I also made sure to check the apn, its saved and 100% correct
iwireless APN
If u don't mind me asking, what APN settings are u using? I have iwireless w/ a Vibrant as well and can't get my MMS & data fully working. I have the unlimited monthly plan not Megatalk.
Did you pay the data portion of your bill?
Yes I have.. I'm not dumb thanks. I've also posted in the Rom developers thread and he wont even respond to me. No one seems to want to help, everyone says flashing another Kernal fixes the issue but It hasn't fixed it for me. I still have no data and my data worked just fine before flashing his rom.

[Q] Question to boost mobie carrier flasherst

Ok I have a few questions for the flashers out there. I have a EVO design from boost. I have successfully flashed my EVO 3d to boost butthere is a problem. It seems like if I do not use my phone any calls will go straight to voicemail. I have verified that it doesn't do this with the design. I'm at my wits end on this. I.have tried everything from being stock non rooted to New Roms , switching my cid, and this has been on 2 phones, 2 doferent donor phones. I'm just mot sire how to goto the next step. My donor phones are off with battery out of them. I need to know if anybody else has had this issue and if so how did I fix it..if u did.

Try making a call on the phone. it it gives you an error 16 you gotta call boost so they can fix it. Also, did you change the MIN and MSID?
i dont have a problem there the phone works fine when i use it as it has been activated for a little bit now. its when i let it sit idle for about an hour or so and it will send all my calls to voicemail even though i have good signal.

You would have to call boost mobile so they can do something about it since they allow flashed phones and they would be cool with it.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
Yea they may allow flashed phones but they will not.support them im sure. I dont think that calling them will help on thespecially especally sin e the donor evo design works great
Also i have been testing this flash on a samsung gs2 epic touch and all seems well as of now. Been using it since i bootlooped my 3d last night. Nothing major kust need to re rom it. But this wouldean that the 3d is at fault somehow. If someone has flashed the 3d can u givee some direction if u have had this issue.
I'm testing using an older radio and pri to see if that is the problem. I feel like the pri could be an issue after reading it does the work for the voice and data for the phone connecting to the network. Although my pri still says 1.43.003 I think some other people said if u flash an older one it will be there just not show in the pri. Any ideas or advice
Yes I have some advice. You cannot ask for help on changing your msid or esn number on xda. It is illegal and xda doesn't engage in "illegal" activities. You'll have to google your answers on your own. I am simply repeating what mods have said in the past. If have questions about that you can ask them in the ask a mod thread. Not being a douche. Just telling you what's been said.
Let me ask u a question. Where in the hell do u see anything about asking how to flash or change the esn or meid in my post..nowhere because there is nothing in any of my posts asking how to change my esn or meid. I already know how to do this and what I was asking was about the pri and if anyone else was having a problem like I was.
Now I'm testing the virgin mobile pri since on a prepaid. I figured what do I have to lose. So far it lasted over the hour mark. Let's see how the night goes for it.
Ok so that didn't work. I'm going to ruu back to 2.08.651.1 to get the pri back to 1.24.003 then I will flash meanrom ics. Blah a lot of crap just to test older pri. Just wish I could get this fixed once and for all.
Evo 3d to Boost error 16
after i flashed my evo 3d i got an error 16. So what i should do? Call boost? And what i should say, so they will not suspend my account

[Q] Lost GPS?! Flashed to Ntelos/Rooted Stock

One of my customers has two T-Bolts, both have been flashed to Ntelos.
He had me root both phones, and both are still on the latest stock software, with root added, and both devices lost GPS at the same time. Ive tried every fix I can think of and Im not getting anywhere.
As I dont actually own the device its a little more difficult to troubleshoot than a device Im more familiar with, so maybe someone out there can help me out?
It would be greatly appreciated
::MODS:: Im pretty sure this is Q&A worthy, but if not please move.
Still looking for an answer if anybody can help?
If these phones are flashed to run on ntelos network. That's probably your answer right there. When flashing a phone to other carriers not everything tends to work.

Trust me, I definitely understand that. We flash a ton of phones in my shop, but the thing is that these two in particular were working fine after the flash and one day out of the blue they BOTH lost connection to GPS. at the same time. only one of them is his phone, the other he doesnt have service on and uses it as a MID, but he was able to get gps on wifi up until this point.
just kind of strange. Ive explained to him alreasdy about the flash and things not working all the time, but it is still strange to me that they went out at the same time
Maybe Google changed the address that the phone uses to access GPS? Maybe try the GPS fix which is somewhere in the dev section?
