need help with xrecovery and custom roms - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so, this is the deal:
i dont know how to use flashtool.
My PC's system requirments for flashtool are more than enough.
i just dont understand how to use it.
i keep getting stuck at "not detected" or something.
ANYWAY, LEAVE THAT! i dont care about flashtool.
i updated my firmware 1.6 to 2.1
then i rooted my 2.1
then installed busybox
then installed xrecovery
then wiped everything
then installed many firmware 2.1 custom roms
HOWEVER, i find that i can only install 2.1 custom roms. i cant install 2.3 or higher custom roms. My phone keeps restarting automatically if i did that. so the latest CM mode i can use is 6.1.3 ! which is sad.
how can i get 2.3 or higher custom roms to work
on my phone without endless-automatic-restart-loop ???
pls tell me. thankyou.

thanks but i cant use PCcompanion or SEUS because i will end up with 2.3. i dont know how to root 2.3 without flashtool (REMEMBER I TOLD YOU I CANNOT USE FLASHTOOL). but i can root my current 2.1 with z4root app. then i have xrecovery.
is there a (.zip) archive that i can install via xrecovery to get baseband 2.1.71 ?

No, a far as I can remember all basebands are only flashable through xrecovery.
You better get working on learning how to use flashtool...its the only way to do anything with the x10
Sent from my X10i using xda premium

If u install 2.1.71 bb u would have to be on 2.3 anyway not 2.1. Greg right pal u need flashtool in ur life it the only way to flash baseband currently for our phones. Follow flashtool-noobs guide you'll be fine (no need for z4 root its old, flashtool has one-click root)

hey guys, i think i found a way to root my 2.3 and install xrecovery. then i would not have the baseband problem (i had the baseband problem when i rooted 2.1 directly). It is using this software called superoneclick for the computer (i downloaded and opened it and saw a root button). does it work? if it works then it means that I do not have to learn how to use flashtool after all. I could get baseband 2.1.71 and install CM7 mod using xrecovery. No need of flashtool YAY! does the software superoneclick work for x10 if i use SEUS update to 2.3.3? :

I'm not sure whether that would work or not, but the flashtool nowadays has already evolved to an all-in-one tool, and you can do anything with it.
My recommended steps are:
1. Flash to stock 2.3.3 through flashtool/SEUS
2. Boot up phone and turn on USB debugging and unknown sources.
3. Open flashtool, you should be able to access the Advanced menu--->Root--->zergRush exploit to root your 2.3.3
4. Ask root perms then hit install xRecovery
5. Flash custom rom
These are always steps that I would recommend to people who are not too familiar with flashing.

I couldn't get superoneclick to work on gb think it was on eclair I managed to use it. Believe me USE FLASHTOOL.

help ps
hey everyone,
everyone seem to have no trouble with flashtool. but i have because everytime i try to root my x10 2.3.3, i only get a half-rooted phone with superuser, busybox and everything installed but no root access. i used FlashTool 0.2.9.1 and tried to root my x10 2.3.3 using the aZuZu Root Method (reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1196421)
so, now i am using a rooted 2.1 (i rooted with z4root not with flashtool) and installed xrecovery and custom rom 2.1. i want to use custom rom 2.3 but for that i need to root 2.3 but i cant root 2.3 with flashtool.
but when i see a root button available, i also see a button 'ask root perms' button. what is the difference?
thanks in advance.

What baseband do you have?
If is .49 then contact the maker, but if is someother else baseband, then repair your phone.
Baseband was .54 but with ginger says unknown

Only ,49 baseband is supported mate. Repair your phone via seus and then flash in the required baseband. Also read the first posts containing instructions to install the ROM a bit more carefully in the future. It saves your time by avoiding such errors to happen.
Cheers!

Buddy, did u upgrade the firmware before installing gingerbread? The issue generally happens when you dont have the required baseband.
I have been using it for over 2 weeks and it seems fine, you cannot mount the SD card by default, you need to use the program automount, auto mount did not work for me in v12, but in v13 it worked fine.
Considering you installed gingerbread you ought to have xrecovery, boot into it and go to partition tools and select auto mount and you will be able to use the SD on ur PC.
Click on thanks if i was of any use to you.

stock SE rom to install via xrecovery?

Hello guys! I want to know where to find the stock original SE rom 2.1.1.A.0.6 to install it via xrecovery? (update.zip or custom.zip) not for flashtool.
thanks.

Man, you can always flash it with seus, sony update service.

OP asked for a 2.1 stock rom.. Don't you think if he could have used SEUS or FlashTool he would have used that instead of asking for a xRecovery image?
Here's the deal, which I believe is the same reason the OP asks for a stock rom to flash with xRecovery.
My USB port is busted. Dead. I have better odds at winning the national lottery than making my computer connect to my X10. but I have one last hope. I have a working copy xRecovery installed on my custom X10! trouble is, if I am going to claim warranty for my phone I need a stock rom.
So, while it is possible to flash custom roms so why is there no stock roms available for xRecovery? or is there?
I install JRom and found out that this rom is exactly the same with the original stock rom I had when I bought this phone.
Thx ... never think of that before... °_°

[Q] Rooting my X10i and being able to install Gingerbread,

Hi, guy & girls
i am wanting to root my X10i and then install the gingerbread system on my phone, i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction of which method to use when rooting as i know there are a few tools out there for rooting, (easy as possible really)
Thank You, any help will taken on board..
Just look up flashtool on android development as it's probably the easiest method. If not then try superoneclick.
i have done superoneclick and the superuser app had appeared on my phone, how do i go about installing gingerbread?

Yes, but you must install busybox with flashtool, then install xrecovery from the xrecovery thread. Have you used flashtool before?
Then read about a gingerbread ROMS thread to install the ROM through xrecovery.
If you have trouble, I will post links when I get to a computer tomorrow.

Hey, don't worry... The worse that can happen is that you lose your information... I know it sucks, but I think the only way to get it back to work again is to restore the phone's software...
If you have PC Companion installed in your computer all you have to do is turn off the phone (or remove the battery) and then run the PC companion software and clic on update/repair software... then plug your phone by pressing the back button and release the button until the led light turns green... then just follow the on-screen process... it's not that hard!
Let me know if this works out for you!
what do you do before that? and flashmod run or not because there is a siple solution if it run . flash a generic version or use seus but you loose all in your phone

Try flashing a gingerbread firmware using flashtool:
Enable usb debugging in settings
Download & install flashtool here: http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
Download a generic 2.3 build here (& put it in the firmware folder): http://www.multiupload.com/JEXUAHAZTL
Open flashtool, click on the flash icon , choose flashmode, select firmware & flash
Do you unlocked your bootloader? Do you flashed a new ROM??

[Q]Root Xperia U 6.1.1.B.1.54

Guys, I want some help.
I just upgrade my Xperia U using Pc Companion and I got this Firmware 6.1.1.B.1.54
I tried to Root via Flashtool, via Byn4ry root files and nothing worked.
Can anyone provide me a link where I can root my sweat Phone?
Thanks in advance
To root that firmware you need to first flash B.10 kernel then Root and then again .54 kernel
Flash only Kernel of 6.1.1.B.1.10
Root with Bin4ry V13 (New version doesn't work)
Once rooted, flash only kernel from the .54

You need to flash 6.1.1.B.10 in order to root ur phone
1) flash b1.10 kernel via flashtool (dont wipe anything, exclude everthng except kernel)
2) root via flashtool or bin4ry
3) flash 6.1.1.B.54 kernel back

Whenever you manually flash a stock firmware either 2.3 or 4 u have to root it again. Don't flash the whole rom, just flash the b.10 kernel, root using bin4ry, and again flash just .54 kernel.

Ok......all done!
In case anybody else is having the same problem this is what i did.
I used bin4ry on my up to date unrooted xperia U. Android version 4.0.4 build 6.1.1.B.1.10.
I was getting errors saying "adb server out of date" but i left it to go to the end anyway.
restarted my phone but when it came to enter my password for my sim card the screen was faded. so i re-flashed the up to date android version again making my phone unrooted again!
then tried bin4ry again and this time it worked without any adb errors and restarted the phone to find that i have superuser app and all is good.
Thanks for previous posts offering help..

Good. You should always check the drivers if they are installed correctly or not.
-Connect your device to PC
-Open Flashtool.
-Goto Help, Check drivers.
-List of ADB devices must be present.
when loading the b 10 kernel into the flashtool,do i also have to put loader sin into the firmware on flashtool aswell?
