Is anyone having the orange grainy look in the camera. The white balance isn't working and every picture looks like grainy. Please someone tell me this is software related.

Haven't noticed that on mine. You might try looking through this thread and seeing if anyone has mentioned it there or if any of the tips apply to your issue and resolve it. bast525 wrote up a really nice guide to using the camera on the Rezound:
Camera tips to take better pictures
I agree that write up is very good
Ensure that someone hasn't accidentally turned on one of the "effects".
Thank you everyone and I hope to figure it out I defiantly do not want a refurbished warranty phone LOL.

Orange tints
The "orange" or "yellowish" tint seems to be a white-balance issue when set to "Auto White Balance". I have seen it on my first sets of pictures, and in other posts and forums. I set it to "Incandescent" and pictures are much better with color. In daylight or indoors. I have NEVER seen it with video...must be software-related. Hopefully patchable.
To me though ISO 200 was not high enough as was recommended...I use ISO 400 if I change it at all. Auto seems ok most of the time.
I will read the photo guide posted above... overall I am happy with the camera once it is "tweaked".

yep it is the fault of the Rezound's retarded auto white balance.... it does not handle indoor/artificial lighting very well.
if you have something like photoshop you should be able to fix the white balance after the fact. you can do this right on the phone with an app called Photo Enhance Pro, but its not free.
For starters, you shouldn't just hit the button and call it good. Give the camera a chance to figure out what it's looking at so it can see what the lighting conditions are.
Tap the brightest and darkest spots in your shot and the Rezound should figure out a decent white balance. If the tint isn't quite right (or is way off), go into settings and adjust the white balance manually. Usually, the fluorescent or incandescent settings will correct most issues.
One more thing: Maybe you inadvertently put something out of whack. Try the 'reset to default' setting in your camera app.
My camera has taken decent shots without messing with any settings. Much better than my incredible.
Yep. Same white balance issues here to.... I wonder if this is a patchable fix.... or something fundamentally wrong with the hardware...
Sent from my Rezound
Wow, I hope they don't issue a change. Many of us (myself included) love the camera just the way it is.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
Actually what works great for me is incandescent. And move the saturation bar setting down 1. Makes a big difference
Edit: I meant turn white balance to auto, move saturation setting down one. This will eliminate the "orange" tint.

I still like the camera on my Thunderbolt.

The rezound's camera is probably the best camera on any android phone at the moment. Just change around the settings because most of the auto features are off a bit.

Seems software related. Generally incandescent gives the most accurate white balance but not always.

Yea its software... Usually HTCs camera app is borked a little.. try a different one from the market maybe?
You guys might want to try Vignette, that works well after you get used to using it.

It happened to me too once, I think it depends on the electricity frequency,
that may vary at different countries.
It's because you installed a ffc. Did you read any of the threads pertaining to the hardware mod you did? Wow. it is a very well known issue with the ffc
Sent from my Eugene powered vibrant
I did not install a FFC neither do I own one
If the camera is working correctly, and you suffer from this, one of the reason can be because of old style florescent lighting. It creates a rf that can cause this. Or, the camera mod could be defective. Or, using a ffc ehich uses a different freq format

Ffc banding does not look like that. Its worse
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I believe that banding is caused by inconsistent power the fluorescent fixture.
I work in video and see this stuff frequently when the light isn't getting the correct power from the ballast.
That'd be my guess. Banding especially bad if florescent is on a dimmer.
My "fix" is to change the fixture or use a different light source.
So far it's worked every time.
Just my guess. Willing to admit I may be wrong.
Good luck!
It is because of the electro magnetic waves emitted by some lights and most older CRT TVs you know the big glass heavy ones.
strange because all of my pics are low light leveled because it has no flash but that looks like how the light is emmitting from its source and the camera is just picking it up. have you tried replicating the same issue under different light sources?

You can tweak the "white balance" setting and cure this easily.
Tried out every preset in the white balance setting but none of them seems to solve the problem... anyway it's not my camera's fault, I'm having the same problem with my EOS 500D.
Thread moved to Q&A.
Hey guys,
So if you still think the camera on the atrix sucks check out some shots I just got done taking. I have not edited these photos in anyway.
I used the LG camera pro app messed around with some settings particularly the white balance and Viola!!
These shots look pretty good to me.
Some of them kinda of mimick the iPhones ..saturation.

I think the quality of the pics are not bad at all, but I do notice that when you first open the camera app and the first photo you take never seems to focus very good. any after that focus fine. Even with tap and hold to focus, the first shot seems poor.
Here are a few good shot I got with mine unedited.

Atrix Camera
Not sure why some people are complaining about the camera on the Atrix. If you think it's bad, try using the camera on the Inspire. I had the Inspire before I switched to the Atrix, and lemme tell ya; the camera on the Inspire is disappointing, considering it's 8mp. Photos were grainy, and had a haze on most photos. IMO, I think the camera on the Atrix is pretty good. Photos are clear and sharp, and it's one of the fastest camera's on a cell phone I've used.
Can anyone give me some tips on taking good pictures with the camera on the phone?
Unless I'm in natural daylight, the pictures I take are almost always blurry or glossy looking.
I've enabled the anti-shake option and this seems to have helped some, however, it is still pretty bad. I've seen examples of pictures taken with this camera that look amazing, but I can never reproduce this.
Please help.
Do you manually focus, like tap-to-focus? You should try to and see if it helps. Maybe if the photos are blurry, either clean the camera lens if its dirty (you may want to check!) and go to setting in the camera app (stock or whatever the one you use) and make sure the focus mode is auto focus (or in some other apps Manual focus) and then try again. You really can take unbelievable photos with the phone. Me being a photographer for the past 6 years, it truly is awesome.
Here are some of mine I took all through the stock camera app untouched.

What settings were you using on the camera app to take the one of the fanta?
I've been doing some experimenting and I'm finding out that unless I'm outside, with lots of natural light, I need to use the flash, anti-shake, and often set ISO to 100.
Oops, I should have said reduce the exposure to -2.0 or ISO to 200 or 100.

Ok so one of the cool features I was excited about was the eyetracker feature. But I've haven't noticed it once work for me. They icon will flash on the status bar but it will still keep going black. doesn't matter how close the phone is or what kind of lighting is in the background. Anyone else?

Was the front facing camera directly facing you when the icon appears? It needs to be looking right at your face and not angled slightly in any direction.
Doesn't seem to work at all for me. I dont believe it's because I wear contacts...

You say that, however the advertising in the UK shows a guy reading to his daughter from the phone in the dark, when his eyes close it shuts off the phone and states the phone only sleeps when you do.
I would call that false advertising if it in fact doesn't work in low or no light...

Tested properly today, multiple times, on my way through London whilst my girl drove. Bright sunny day, and it failed everytime. I tried opening my eyes WIDE, moving the phone nearer, farther... nothing.
It works randomly for me, in dark or light conditions.
This needs an update, period.

did you try to put your phone around 20 - 30cm as mentioned in smartstay function? reading with the phone to close to our face also prevents it to capture whole face and follow our eyes movement.
surprised you're all complaining about this. It works almost everytime for me, even if im looking at the screen from a slight skew
I too have been disappointed in this feature. Doesn't seem to work at all.

I know most people already know this, but smart stay has to be turned on in settings-display. May be just double check if it's on?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Did any of you try it in landscape mode? when i'm reading pdfs in landscape, most of the times smart stay fails.
I find this very weird to hear everyone having so much trouble with this, me and my friend have not had one drama and it's been awesome. All i did was juts make sure it was turned on in the motion settings and it works a treat!
It doesn't work on me as well
I've tested and seems to work about 70pc of time. It has definitely failed too..... But the little eye icon has shown too and it has kept the screen on.... I'd say failures have been a mix of bad/odd angle held and lighting...

I'm not talking about perfectly lit scenarios but more or less like the ones I've posted above. Do you guys leave yours at Auto , Intelligent Auto etc. Whatever tips and tricks you can share I'm sure will greatly benefit the community.
[I know there is a thread regarding the slow shutter and focus but that's not the point over here.]
Cheers !
Mine look as good if not better. I use AI most, normal and manual otherwise. Focus isn't slow for me, shutter speed regarding moving items in less than full blast light are and get blurry easy. Software fixes needed. My still shots are incredibly brilliant and accurate for a smartphone camera.

I personally feel on the stock camera app , the auto ISO is a little bit too sensitive, causing unnecessary noise. I usually set the ISO to 800 (the max it allows in manual control) and the shot turns out significantly better.
Using IA pictures are somewhat better ! . BTW can someone modify the camera to save the settings ? because it always starts on Normal mode !
I used Intelligent Auto for the pics of my Spigen Case, seems to have worked well.
These pics are actually lower quality than the ones on my computer because there was probably some compression done during uploading/
Does anyone know of a way to make the IA setting stick? Every time I leave the camera app I have to mess with settings to get it back. I've tried just hitting the home button and leaving the app open but it reverts. Annoying! !
