Would it be much trouble to ask anyone who hasn't applied the ota yet to zip up the contents of /reinstall? I lost it by my own stupidity with safe strap and oat won't apply without its contents would be greatly appreciated.

Cool! Glad to help out!
Just wanted to let you know that it worked great. Thanks again
This will take care of any issues with installing the OTA:
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/251-rom-stock-odexed-rooted-rom-744-system/
So I'm getting the preinstall folder fail. I downloaded from the link above, but i can't get the contents into my preinstall folder. When i paste using root explorer, it acts like it's completing the action, but nothing happens. It is mounted r/w and i've tried changing permissions. Sorry if it's something really basic i'm missing.
*nevermind, got it. The folder was at max capacity.

Someone who has done the whole DI01 update, please dump their system for me, or just the framework folder, apparently the one given to me had the stock android lockscreen patch applied to it lol.
Aside from that, the DI01 deodex works perfect, I opt_png'ed and zip_align'ed all the apk's, as well as the framework-res and twframework-res.
I will also need someone who knows how to sign updater-scripts to open the one attached, and just save it again properly and upload it for me. I am trying to get a flashable CW zip but the darn thing always gives me a status 6 error, which means the CW cannot read the updater script.
Sorry for the n00b question, but what benifit does deodexing provide? Also if there is another software update will I have to readd any .apk's to my /system folder?
Why not just flash your own system back to stock, then run the update, then dump /system? If you'd like an update script that doesn't update modem.bin, I already have one.
Assuming you're updating via CWM, why are you signing the zip? You don't need any signature, just zip the file up.
Is there anything involved in a dump besides just copying the files in /system?

Because I am too lazy to go through all that.
I don't need it signed per say. More like opened, edited, and saved properly. It is said it is best to edit the update script in s Linux based environment which I don't have, but that notepad should suffice, yet when I save it with my notepad, I get the error of cw not being able to read it properly.
I have a fresh phone that just got the D101 update. Just need directions on what if anything is involved beyond just getting the /system directory via adb.

That is all I need. The only things I deodex are the contents of system/app and system/framework.

Try a real editor, like bluefish or something.. Those scripts look like sh#! in notepad.
If no one has done it by tonight, just grab me on IRC and I'll do it under Linux for you.
Make sure you've got the file/directory structure right too.. You can't just throw a script in a zip file, but I'm sure you knew that. Myself and and a few others had the wrong directory structure at first, don't remember what error number that gave us though.. I think it just froze.
OK, how can I get it to you? I can't post links or (I think) files yet.

You can just zip it up and upload it to mediafire.com
Just splice up the link like WWW. Website. Com and I will just delete the spaces.

I used the easy root method, everything went fine. When I try to boot into recovery when the phone is off, it doesn't go into clockwork, it goes into hboot, or whatever its called. Then says something about Pg05diag , and then asks if I want to update. Not sure if that's normal. I can boot into recovery with Rom manger.

you need to delete the PG05IMG.ZIP file on your microsd card. It is left over from the root and is not needed.

ok plug your phone into your computer. When the options comes up what to do, select disk drive. After you do this you will more than likely and i think definitely have auto play pop up one option will be open files and folders, click on that. once it loads hit cntrl-f and type in PG05IMG, which is what you are looking for. if its on your sdcard it will be there. if you find it right click and delete.
2 questions, first I forgot about removing PG05IMG, I went to do it after reading this and it is no where on my card, did I miss something? was it removed automatically by the easy root program? second, I want to flash a rom and I know we have to wipe first, I thought I read somewhere that wiping removed our root? Please correct me if I am wrong, I know just enough about code to make me "DANGEROUS"!!!!! Thank you in advance for your help I came from an X and am loving the TB. Just have to get used to doing things differently. (adb, sdk and so on)
Hi all.
I'm trying to copy some files to the system partition after enabling write on read-only partitions and remounting it and everything is success, but when I restart the phone, files get deleted and partition back to original. I tried ES file explore and Total Commander.
Galaxy S2, cMIUI 2.10 JB
Hmm.. seems like a hard question!

Hey,
no not a hard question but a bit confusing
So the copy to system works without probs?
Do u have root-enabled on it?
U can try Solid explorer once, too, to be sure.
CHEERS
I enabled root explorer and I mounted the file system to be writable, yes I have a rooted phone.
I can copy to system root folders anything (media files), the files stay there until I reboot the phone then they disappear, they get deleted maybe? how to disable that?
Thanks

That listen like u have to save changes?!
Pls try the Solid explorer (for me the best explorer ever)
Copy files and have a look for root-acces request (should be asked for Solid, if it's new)
The copy/replace the file.

Thanks Hannibal for reply, I got no luck on doing it, they still get removed after reboot. Is there a way to flash these files that I want to copy to system as an update.zip?

Sure there's a way, but I can't help u with it, sorry.
With new Titanium Backup u can create flashable .zips but for sure only from isntalled apps.
Maybe u have a look at google. I remind for a tool which u just say what u wanna flash an it creates the flashable .zip.
Much success....
CHEERS
Edit: Sorry but couldn't answer u yesterday.
XDA had a prob for a while
Got what I needed... Thank you!
So, if I knew how to do this, I would... time for some google-fu!
If you are rooted its as simple as installing a root level file explorer and find the file.
The can be located in /data/local/tmp/ota and other locations
I generally just do an adb pull /data ./data if I cannot find it.
Sometimes they dont put zip on the end of the file to make it more confusing.
AKA "For the love of all that's good and holy, how do I stop this?"
I've deleted the FOTA folder, and when I get the notification (about 30 times a day), I long press for App Info, but the Show Notifications checkbox is checked and greyed out so I can't uncheck it.
I tried downloading Disable Service from the Play Store, but it reports that SystemUpdateService is disabled, yet I'm still getting this notification.
Clearly, this is quite frustrating. Thanks for any help.
How did you disable it? I have seen people say TI didn't stop it, and the hidden menu didn't do it. Those peeps had to do both.
Freezing system update in titanium worked for me or flash another rom similar to stock

Did you try disabling ota in the hidden Verizon menu? Dial ##3328873 + send + 000000, uncheck ota, then delete fota files in cache again and rename LGDMSClient.apk and the same for the .odex file to .bak. Renaming seems what's working for most people instead of freezing.
Reboot
That should take care of it for you.

Dang! I was looking for that info last week after I received my G3. I finally just took the OTA from 10B to 11C. Yeah, I can flash back but geez that would have been easier.
Thanks! (I did hit the Thanks Button)

Total noob here but know enough to be dangerous. I'm rooted and unlocked and was able to turn off OTAs this way. Question I have is whether there are simple and straightforward instructions on downloading and installing the lastest KDZ updates available. I did download 11C (and decompressed with LG Firmware Extract for Win) but I'm lost as to the proper steps to take from here to make sure I don't brick my precious Any resources would be much appreciated!

The IMG files are not in the update zip. They are somewhere in that ota incoming thread. I can post the links later if you can't find them. I'm hosting the system. IMG and have the modem.img, not sure if I have the boot, probably.

Thanks! So I'm on 10B now, going to 11C. I get that I need to place the Flash2 zips on the phone, which I've done. I also get that I will place modem-11c.img and system.img in the same folder, then in TWRP, flash the zips. Is that it? I presume that I no longer really need teh KDZ I downloaded since that's basically in these files you're providing. Thanks again!
