[Q] [HELP] Allshare Samsung TV SRT Subtitles - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
Ive got a problem with playing subtitles on my Samsung LE37B650. The TV is DLNA certified and ive got no problems with playing movies on it.
But it seems he cant find the SRT subtitle files.
When i play the movie with the SRT file on my SGS2 only it finds and plays the subtitle without problems..
What i did:
I named the SRT file exactly the same as the movie file name, but there is no subtitle on my TV.
I tryed different DLNA apps from the market like imediashare.
Ive got an option on my TV to enable/disable subs, so i enabled it ofc.
But nothing seems to work.. did annybody else faced this problem aswell? And maybe got a solution to solve this problem?

[Q] Can't read videos from DLNA devices...

Hi all,
I encounter a strange problem...
On my galaxy S2, I can't read videos from my DLNA device : NAS Buffalo Linkstation. I see the device, I can read MP3 or photos but video doesn't work.
The allshare application generates lots of files XXXXXX.tmp on sdcard partition.
At the same time, on my galaxy S (i9000), i can read the same videos without problems!
I made lots of search on the net regarding this problem but I haven't found any solution...
Can you please help me ?
Thanks you in advance for your help
Regards
Rodrigue

It seems to be all format video file.
Curiously, with my Galaxy S, it works from fine for all files from the Buffalo Linkstation NAS.
I also tried to stream video files via DLNA stored on the Galaxy S on my Galaxy S2 and this work's well !!
IS there any changes from the allshare on GS to allshare on GS2 ?

which is the best video converter for Nook tablet

Hi Guys,
Can somebody point out a video converter for nook tablet ?.
Cheers!!!!!
You don’t need any converter when you can sideload something like MX player!

I use WinX DVD Ripper and it works great, but there is a fee to download it. I've heard of others using HandBrake which is free but I haven't tried it.

As someone else mentioned a third party player like MX Player or Mobo removes the need for converting. Having said that, I use VLC to convert larger videos to MP4 format so they take up less space. It has way more options than I need but is still pretty simple to use.
Handbrake works great

Well, i just tried to play avi file using MX Player,, but could not play it.. infact MX Player did not even recognise it..
So, what i am doing wrong..
You need to download the arm7 codec pack from the market as well for mxplayer
Save hours - use mxplayer
Save hours on conversion times and use mxplayer.
If u have playback problems try using the software decoder option, which u set in the preferences or my tapping top right during playback.

moboplayer
Mx video player works with sd card and for streaming videos from your network. You need to add sdcard2 as one of the sources in settings. Hope it helps

So does Mobo, and is far to more customizable.

You can try ES file explorer and tapping on the LAN tab. Then add the server you're trying to play the files from and you can then tap on a file to play and choose to open with moboplayer.
I am using MOBO player. It's working great. Free and easy to configure.

BS player has hardware acceleration and works great on Tablet S. I think it supports SD-cards, but not sure. The .srt subtitles work great though. It also has a function that searches subs for you online. No more searching!

I use a similar setup as you. For my file manager I use HD file explorer for honeycomb and set up my network through the lan connection. Then I play the videos through MX player and music through Mobo. Some videos play better than others depending on the format but for the most part it works well. What I like about HD file manager is you can access everything from your network drive and it easy to setup. I just wish there was a way to create a play list for music files from my NAS without transferring files to my SD card. Any ideas on this?
Try CineXplayer I have had any issues also locates files for u when opening so no need to manually find files. No ads full screen no stuttering videos. Good quality picks up where you leave off in videos if stopped while viewing when opened back up.
Yes mobo player is pretty sweet, free and clean looking a must download if u wanna watch movies n things.
MX player does both (SD card, SRT titles) flawlessly. So impressed I bought the ful version.
no stop in mxplayer?
How can you stop video from playing in Mxvideo?
I do not see any stop button?

just tap the screen and there should appear reverse, pause and forward. just press pause´. There is no actual stop button.
u can change that in the settings actually I believe (i.e. always show controls). Can't imagine why its necessary, you want full screen video normally don't you?
Strange. So when I start a 3 hour video and notice after 5 mins that I have seen it...I need to look it to the end as I can not stop it. I need to try mobo....

[Q] MKV files aren't playing anymore

Hi All,
I've read a bunch of thread but none of them has resolve my problem.
I was used to play MKV files with my Galaxy S2 without any problems with the default player.
But since I've made a restore of my phone, I'm now unable to play the same MKV file. There's only sound, no image. (I have tried some other player, none of them have worked)
Anyone has an idea of what's going on here? Am I missing a codec or something?
Thanks a lot for your help.
Are you on stock Samsung ROM?
Yes I'm using the original ROM
Model Number: GT-I9100M
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: I9100MUGKG2
When I connect my device to Kies, it shows me that it is up to date.
No idea what could have happened?!
No .
You could try factory reset again .
You could try copy a new file and see how that plays .
jje
Ok thanks, I'll save everything and do a reset and see what will happen.
Still doesn't work, I really don't know why, that pisses me off.....
This is the movie I'm trying to play with my phone.
File Type: MKV
Size: 2213.18MB
Video Size: 1920 x 1080
Length 01:01:08
Video codec: h264
Sound codec: Dolby AC3 / FAST Multimedia AG DVM
Planet Earth from BBC
Try to clear data and cache from your video-app in settings > apps > runing apps > all
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Thanks for the advice, but it still doesn't work.
I'm wondering if there's any kind of limitation inside the new Virgin firmware or ROM that doesn't allow me to play MKV files, cause I've tried with other MKV files in 720p and this is not working either, so it's not a corrupted file or anything.
Update:
I took a look at diffrent Galaxy S2 spec from Canada and United States
Here's what I've found:
Canadian (Virgin):
Video format supported: 3GP, MP4 and WMV (unprotected)
US (AT&T):
Video format supported: 3GP, AAC, AAC+, AMRNB,AVI,eAAC+,H.263, H.264, MP4,MPEG4, QCIF, WMV; Video, Streaming
I think I'll need to unlock my phone, do you guys think it will allow me to view my files?
Thanks again

Have you tried MX Video player? I think it's the best videoplayer available on market and it supports almost all file extensions.

Media Streaming

I am looking for an app that lets you stream media through xbox 360.
Have tried Imediashare, Twonky, and Media Server. Xbox cannot see the phone as a media server.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is the Rezound just not capable of sharing media. I know FoxFi
won't work with HTC phones. Maybe none of the media sharing apps work either.
Would love to find a thread or video with how to stream to the xbox.
Found several showing how to connect to PS3 but not xbox.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks

Well start fresh
Wipe twonky app data
Start app
Select what u want to stream
Music movies photos
Then wait for it to scan directories
Then go to Xbox go to whatever type of media that u r streaming
It should show up where your computer would show
If u don't understand this
I can try and make a tutorial video later

I know double twist does it but I never used it. I just have seen that it has the option to do so.

Ok. Got Twonky to work. I guess wiping the data and restarting was the key.
Works great!
But now I am having another issue. It will only play mp4, and divx videos. Won't play
videos that I recorded on the phone. Nor will it play avi files.

Sent from my cm_tenderloin using Tapatalk 2
I am not sure that I do have the right codecs installed. And I don't know how to install them.
I thought that was the problem too. I have been looking for some sort of tutorial on how to
install codecs and I can't find anything. Tons of videos and things that will show you how to
install on your computer, but none on xbox.

The xbox only plays mp4, divx in avi, WMV, and I think mpeg.
Unless the app on the phone transcodes which I don't think they do becuse of the power it takes, you need to use the formats the xbox supports.
Ok. Got it!
So just to be clear....There is no codec pack or anything that needs to be installed?
I just have to make sure that all the videos that I want to stream are mp4, wmv, or divx.
Thanks everyone for all the help. Great community here.
