Hello all,
Ive got a problem with playing subtitles on my Samsung LE37B650. The TV is DLNA certified and ive got no problems with playing movies on it.
But it seems he cant find the SRT subtitle files.
When i play the movie with the SRT file on my SGS2 only it finds and plays the subtitle without problems..
What i did:
I named the SRT file exactly the same as the movie file name, but there is no subtitle on my TV.
I tryed different DLNA apps from the market like imediashare.
Ive got an option on my TV to enable/disable subs, so i enabled it ofc.
But nothing seems to work.. did annybody else faced this problem aswell? And maybe got a solution to solve this problem?

Hi All,
I've read a bunch of thread but none of them has resolve my problem.
I was used to play MKV files with my Galaxy S2 without any problems with the default player.
But since I've made a restore of my phone, I'm now unable to play the same MKV file. There's only sound, no image. (I have tried some other player, none of them have worked)
Anyone has an idea of what's going on here? Am I missing a codec or something?
Thanks a lot for your help.
Are you on stock Samsung ROM?
Yes I'm using the original ROM
Model Number: GT-I9100M
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: I9100MUGKG2
When I connect my device to Kies, it shows me that it is up to date.
No idea what could have happened?!
No .
You could try factory reset again .
You could try copy a new file and see how that plays .
jje
Ok thanks, I'll save everything and do a reset and see what will happen.
Still doesn't work, I really don't know why, that pisses me off.....
This is the movie I'm trying to play with my phone.
File Type: MKV
Size: 2213.18MB
Video Size: 1920 x 1080
Length 01:01:08
Video codec: h264
Sound codec: Dolby AC3 / FAST Multimedia AG DVM
Planet Earth from BBC
Try to clear data and cache from your video-app in settings > apps > runing apps > all

Thanks for the advice, but it still doesn't work.
I'm wondering if there's any kind of limitation inside the new Virgin firmware or ROM that doesn't allow me to play MKV files, cause I've tried with other MKV files in 720p and this is not working either, so it's not a corrupted file or anything.
Update:
I took a look at diffrent Galaxy S2 spec from Canada and United States
Here's what I've found:
Canadian (Virgin):
Video format supported: 3GP, MP4 and WMV (unprotected)
US (AT&T):
Video format supported: 3GP, AAC, AAC+, AMRNB,AVI,eAAC+,H.263, H.264, MP4,MPEG4, QCIF, WMV; Video, Streaming
I think I'll need to unlock my phone, do you guys think it will allow me to view my files?
Thanks again

Have you tried MX Video player? I think it's the best videoplayer available on market and it supports almost all file extensions.

Hi guys,
I am having issue streaming MKV files off a Windows share from my S3.
I am using DicePlayer, and even tried other ones (MX, VLC beta and other ones ...).
The application will be buffering and then go back to the file browser.
I was using the exact same technic with my S2 and it worked just fine.
I am using the stock Samsung ROM, rooted.
Have you guys tried that at all?
I haven't tried to store the mkv on the SD/internalSD storage yet but that would defeat the purpose ...
Thanks !
Hi!
I am having stuttering issues while playing 1080p mkv files over wi-fi. The video stutters after every 10 seconds for about 2-3 seconds The wi-fi connection speed is 72Mbps which according to my search is the maximum you get with SIII.
The file I am trying to play is 2.3 GB and around 25 mins long using MX player. The video plays fine on my laptop, also connected with 72Mbps speed.
The only reason I am asking is because sole purpose of my soon to be owned nexus 7 tablet is to watch 1080p, so it would be worthless if I am going to face same problem with Nexus 7. So both Nexus 7 and Galaxy S III users are requested to reply.
I figured the general forum is more appropriate for this as compared to QA forums, I request mods to kindly move to the appropriate section if I am being ignorant.......
Thank you very much.

You expect to stream mkv files on nexus 7 that does not have builtin codec support for that format, with third party, software decoded app? Without a glitch?
Hmm

Yeah I did it, but it would eat up space if I keep 1080p for TV and 720p for mobile devices, plus it would need more time ripping 2 times..... Thanks for the reply though.....

Thanks for your reply, but actually third party player (MX player) is better than the stock video player to stream on S III, isn't it......?
Well if it really isn't possible then I might have to rip 720p as well besides 1080p. 1080p wouldn't make quality any better on a 720 screen anyways, or will it......?

Maybe that's the problem right there, I'm no kind of expert but maybe the fact that it's a 720p screen and your streaming a 1080p video is causing the stuttering

No I was talking about Nexus 7, Nexus 7 doesn't support mkv files......
Actually I was thinking as it can stream 1080p video to a TV using Allshare cast, it shouldn't be a problem to do vice versa.........?

Because you tested internal, the connection itself and the resolution, i guess the problem is the combination of streaming and the unsupported format or the format only.
Maybe try to convert the video to a supported format and test again or check another player (or both).
About allshare i can't tell, haven't used it, always used plain dlna from settings and didn't encounter issues, no matter which direction.

The same video file runs smooth when played from phone memory, and stutters when played over wi-fi, so I am pretty sure the format or player aren't the culprits here...... May be there are some settings in MX player which I remained unable to explore, or any other player able to prefetch the frames and keep'em in local buffer, although I am pretty much sure that's what the grayed out bar in MX player represents.......
Thank you all for your time, I guess ripping movies in 720 is the only viable solution here......
Try Qloud media, I use this to stream 1080p HD content from my laptop flawlessly, you have to install the software explained in the app description but it's easy and brilliant once it's setup.

i have the same problem as the OP.
I just tried Qloud app and it works great.
However what software does is realtime conversion. Not streaming the original file.
So there is some small quality loss since it converts original file and stream it to the phone on the fly.
There is still problem with direct streaming of 1080p file unfortunately.

Hi all, would of put this in android general but can't seem to see it :-\
Anyway, I'm looking for the above, a uonp/dlna compatible app that is capable of streaming mkvs to a ps3.i can play them on my phone via mx player and the like but when it comes to streaming it fails, unsupported or corrupted data shows in the ps3 whenni know for a fact it can stream Mkvs. I have tried airsyncs airplay option, skifta and joses media server and none seem to work, anyone any ideas or other options I can try?
I'm running ParanoidAndroid and Siyah/twrp if that's any help.
Thanks in advance
And mods if there is a general android section and I've missed it feel free to move this

hey had this problem a while back, after a lot of experimenting with different apps, it turns out none of the apps could successfully "beam" a mkv file, even if both the phone and xbox can support the file.
The workaround that i finally got to was to host a media server from the phone, and access the mkv file via the server. APP: Pixel-DMS.
Works great on my xbox !! should work on the ps3 as well
BubbleUPnP might.

Im looking for something that works the opposite actually, Does anyone know of an app that will allow streaming from a pc to my galaxys3?
I used to use allshare when i was running official samsung rom, but now i use Paranoid android and unfortunately cannot use it anymore.
I use a program called ps3 media server, which allows any content even MKV files to be streamed, ps3 media server is veiwable on ps3, xbox 360 and i could see it and use it on allshare.
now all i need is an app to allow me to pick up this media server on my paranoid setup.
any suggestions? thanks. :fingers-crossed:
I use PS3MediaServer in conjunction with Serviio to steam to my Xbox and phone.
1. Download PS3MS and Serviio on PC
2. Stream to gaming console. For streaming to android, download Skifta or ServiGo on Play. You can manage your Serviio console from your droid using ServiiDroid.
MKV works flawlessly.

My home environment is:
Laptop - with Windows Media Player and Foobar2000 as servers
Tablet (galaxy tab) - with ArkMC as controller, server and player.
Samsung TV (as player and renderer)
I had an issue - I was not able to "Play-to" and to share MKV files!
I have tried just siple renaming MKV to AVI, after this trick it was possible to use "Play-to" to send file to my TV. And it played back well.
Maybe this would work for you.

ArkMC can use 3rd party players. I use Mobo Player and MX Player. So it supports MKV formats to. And ArkMC server can share MKV files to.

No, it can´t. It can play avi but not mkv, 3gp or flv.
I am still lookin for solution to stream mkv files via Android to PS3.
I installed Bubble UPnP - PS3 can see it, but everytime I want to go to some videos, pictures or music, PS3 is giving 2101 DLNA Error (can´t even see the list of my multimedia)
PS3 is on the newest offcial ROM and router is D´Link Dir-600 - if that´s matter.
Any ideas?

PS3 is not able to play MKV natively without transcoding. You must use a transcoding server like PS3 Media Server, Serviio, etc.
Odp: Upnp/dlna Android app capable of streaming mkv
Yes i know, i am using media serwer on my laptop and i stream mkv files, however when i stream movies, my laptop is over heating and shut down (is hot as hell) after an hour or so. Laptop is dual core 1.6 and the thermal paste on cpu is probably out. So i wanted to stream those movies via note 2. I thought there was an application with internal transcoding possibility like it's in media share on pc. So is it possible or not?
Sent with GT-N7100 via Tapatalk 2
Did anyone have a fix for this? The Note 2 ought to be able to do this.
Wondering if anyone found a way to transcode mkvs from a phone to be played on a ps3.
I'm yet to find one to be honest, I think plex did work but no longer seems to for whatever reason

I am using ArkMC. too. What I really like is that it supports many formats of video files.
Also the feature that I use the most is YouTube integration. You can use your phone as a controller and watch videos on a big screen:good:
I have bubble full version I downloaded arkmc which ultimately uses bubble what my question is how to view streaming videos on the P's3 because it recognizes bubble as a media server and only allows me to browse to my files rather then stream them
