Sorry for posting here but this is where I was instructed to post. So I just dl ics v8 last night, which is AWESOME by the way!! Thx for all the hard workers that put this rom together. Im coming from bionix by the way and dont know too much about ICS. So I odined a custom gb bl as instructed and that went fine, I got the pass. I then flashed v8 and let it sit over night and so far so good. I do have a few questions/concerns though for anyone who can help.
1. I did have to mute/unmute during a ph call so it didnt sound like I was in a can...
2. Which root apps can I use with this rom...? ie setcpu, rom manager...? I tried creating a recovery with rom manager and I got a message that "theres no official clockworkmod recovery yet and have I installed a clockworkmod based recovery yet...?" Is this supposed to happen..?? Basically just wondering if I did something wrong along the way...
I think thats it so far, otherwise havent tried gps yet so Im crossing my fingers. Thx again.

All root apps work. The rom/kernel already has recovery, no need for Rom Manager. You can get to it via the power menu, or the finger boot by now pressing VOL DOWN+POWER. Also VOL UP+POWER will boot in download mode.

ok ROM Manager has Never had Official support for the Samsung Vibrant. If you install Rom Manager the only thing you should be doing with it is "fixing Permissions" other then that you should be rebooting into the preinstalled recovery by pressing and holding power button ---> Reboot ---> Recovery
again do not do ANYTHING other then fix permissions within Rom Manager.
all ICS/Samsung Vibrant Compatible applications are working with this rom. all root functions are working. and OC/UV utilities should work.
Thx peeps for the info. Just waiting for bug fixes. Otherwise great from!

so i have root, i think. (how do you know?)
and installed the recovery img (also how do you know/confirm?)
i know im supposed to install another rom, but it works now??
it says i have 2.1 and everything?? do i need to run another rom???
and if i do need to install a rom, which one is best/most stable (opinions)
thank you
to check if you have recovery power the phone off and when you restart hold the VOL UP button and then turn it on..... it should boot up into a black screen with green writing with a list of options (i.e. backup/restore, flash zip file)
as for best rom to flash ....a few options out there depends on what you like..... but if you want a basic very stable 2.1 use Ivans 0.7 official (IMO) ..... but there are some good options out there if you don't want the basic 2.1
just look around

Well you could not have flashed the custom recovery image without root, so yes.
ok, thats kinda what i thought, but wasnt sure
so, do i still have to flash to a different rom?
also, ive noticed stuff missing from the marketplace that i had before? sup wit dat?
thanks
You don't have too. However I would. The custom roms are more stabe and have more features that the original root rom. I like this one right now. Did you reboot and test that you have the recovery image?

Programs that weren't developed for 2.1 and only from 1.5 up to 2.0.1 possibly won't show up.
Hello XDA,
Let me start by first saying that I am pretty much a complete noob to all of this. So I apologize in advance for insulting any of you with my stupidity when it comes to the subject.. Anyway, here we go...
I have had my SGS2 for a while but finally worked up enough courage to flash after reading all the positive reviews about it. I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18576627#post18576627 and used methods 2c and 3a.
I was able to preform the root with absolutely no problems. Everything was great. I had a little trouble finding a kernel for 3a, but ended up trying out Siyahs (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367800). After installing the Kernel everything was still working great. The last thing I wanted to try was a new ROM. The ROM i wanted to try was the Cyanogen mod (http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/forum/494-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-att-experimental-mod/)
When I used CWM to install the mod the phone restarted and came back on showing the SGS2 boot screen... only to stay on the SGS2 boot screen. Nothing happens. The phone just stays on showin the boot screen. I've let it stay like this for 20 minutes now and nothing is happening.... did I break the phone? Whats the problem...
I've never flashed or used cyanogem mod. Did you flash CM7 or CM9? With CM7, I've read lots of posts where they say you have to flash twice. So I'd try flashing it again. Tell us exactly what you flashed. Maybe someone who knows that rom can pitch in with help.
You didnt flash the rom or recovery from ROM Manager did you??
Sounds like your in the same boat mine was in up until this afternoon.
Get Odin and try to use the one click installers to return to root and start over with the proper directions.. (You can find all the software you need in creepycrawlers Download Repository link in his sig)

Thanks for the quick responses guys. What I did was turn the phone off, and hold volume up+down to get into CWM. I then restored my backup I had made right before trying to install cyanogen mod and luckily everything works normally. Phone looks good and smooth. I have to say though I am really nervous to try and flash another rom. I want something nice for my i777 but can't find anything. Does anyone have a suggestion for a decent rom?

You might want to try Batista Foxhound http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486199&highlight=foxhound. Like me, I'm very particular about the sound of the media player. If you want the best sound, flash CM7 RC1. Install power amp and play with the CM7 DSP manager and power amp equalizer and there is not a single ROM out there that can match the sound quality of this two combination. Good luck.
hi guys
I recently bought a 2nd hand Vibrant for a really good price.
As far as i see the Vibrant is already rooted with 2.2.1 Lidroid, and CWM installed.
The battery usage is amazing with this rom, but I still fancy to install some custom GB roms.
I have some questions:
1. I would like to check if I am already on GB bootloader, please guide me to check?
2. If I am not on GB bootloader, I know I must first install it.
I wonder if Vibrant has some stock GB firmwares like captivate does? The stock camera is a must for my case ><
Am i correct if I follow this method from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156832
3.Or actually I can simply flash any custom GB roms directly from where I am (Lidorid 2)
THX
Okay you know if you're not gb bootloaders when you turn on ur phone there's weird rainbow lines
If not then you are
And if you are then yea you can flash any rom
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Let me confirm if you suggesting me to flash the GB roms?
If there's rainbows > froyo bootloader
if nothing > GB bootloader
So can i say actually Gb roms doesnt really need GB bootloader
as long as I am fine with the rainbows?
THX

I've run CM7, and CM9 (ICS) on Froyo boot loaders. For me it just makes the kernel screen flash and show again, then goes on to ROM booting. I'm running a Froyo boot loader right now.
Is lidroid a t959 rom or a t959v?
You need to have a t959 to be in the vibrant 3g section, otherwise you'll probably want the galaxy s 4g section.
Sent from my Sensation using Tapatalk 2
there is a Lidroid version for T959 - I have a Odin flash with it. I use it instead of JFD.
Want to know if you have the GB boot loaders? Easy -
Hold the Volume up button and the power button at the same time. If it goes to download mode....you got the GB bootloaders.
T959 Vibrant does not have Samsung 2.3 support. Samsung forgot about us after Froyo. There Froyo OTA upgrade bricked so many phones that they wont chance it again.
For 2.3 Gingerbread you will have to download a I9000 port found in our Development section. That said the ICS packages are very nice for Vibs too.
need help guys
A few hours ago, I was at work and bored.
I started to flash some GB roms without coming back to check this post.
The rom i used was phiremod-fusion-2.1.1.
As usual I nandroid my lidroid before doing anything.
Then I 3 wipes and flash the phiremod rom.
first time the flash was really quick and also rebooted itself.
But only this time I realise I have a newer CWM 5.xx version instead of my 2.xx version (Lidroid)
Ok, i wasn't panic, because i read some where before. It's prefectly fine for a cm7 if the first time it bootloop.
Then I pull battery, and boot into recovery again, to flash the 2nd time.
this time BAAM, prefect. I found myself with a 2.3.x cm7 mod rom.
but as soon as I found the camera apk is actually the MIUI one. I decided to nandroid back to Lidorid.
things turns ugly at this point, when i back to CWM i restored.
But only found some errors CWM said , but I remember CWM did say something like erasing boot.img before restoring.
After the resotre failed, I accidentally reboot my phone.
And now my vibrant only stuck at the typical black boot screen "Vibrant in the middle with samsung at the bottom.
I tried to boot back to recovery, but no luck.
right now I am telling myself i probably need to restore to stock.
Can my fellow xda members guide me the proper way to
1. boot CWM
2. download mode
Given the fact that I am not too sure about which bootloader I am on.
THX people!!
Yup, you'll need to go back to stock. There are plenty of write-ups on how to do it.
Also, NEVER restore a 2.2 backup after you install 2.3 or higher. The file systems and partitions are different. Odin back to stock, install lidroid again, and then try to restore your backup.

Get into download mode by while it's off, holding VOL-UP + Vol-DOWN and plugging in USB.

Hello, at the start i wanted to install some new ICS rom for my Vibrant..i try to root it with one click and i couldn't do that coz i had froyo(2.2update)..so i read some forums and found solution in odin...i used that to turn back to stock eclair where i rooted the phone ...but the problem is that now i can't install any application on the device(i need ROM manager)..i get to android market and ,click on application but nothing is happening, no download at all...than i try to use android injection with apks that i found on the net , but nothing, i always get INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK...so now i am stuck i have: fimware version-2.1 update 1,baseband T959UVJFD, kernel 2.6.29 can you tall me should i do?? thx
Read the guide in my signature on how to install ICS ROMs. It has an update.zip that you can use for CWR.
ROM manager no longer supports 2.1 (Eclair), so that is why you can't see it in the market.
Download the clockwork mod recovery file (update.zip) and save it to the internal storage on the phone. Then reboot into recovery and install packages. Might have to do it twice. Then you'll be in CWM recovery. Install from from there.

FWIW, and this is not a knock on Team Passion (they do excellent work but few updates), but Euphoria is somewhat outdated. There are plenty of ICS ROMs out there that are more up-to-date and when ICS went from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 there were significant code changes that were done. I suggest ICZen, or Slim or CM9.
But if you want to stay on Euphoria (AOKP based), this is from my guide:
If you get the RANDOM OFFSET error.
Don't freak out. This is an ICS security feature (as posted in Passion's FAQ post). All you have to do is pull your battery and boot back into recovery and reflash ICS over itself (just like you did with the initial CM7 bootloop) and it should push through. You may need to do this multiple times. I have read of people having to do it up to 5x. YMMV though.

I suggest you Odin immediately. I fear that the next screen you will see is the Encryption Unsuccessful screen. Make sure you hit repartition in Odin though since you reformatted your system from RFS/Ext4 to MTD when you went to CM7.

If you do get past all of these, but this is unlikely for a normal flash, get either Iczen or chimera.

here is where i got the package

This below is what version i accidently installed.
I897UCKI2 Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread
With Bootloaders - Link to thread - Second Post [With CWM Injected Kernel from Boog]
so after i made this mistake.. (noticed my phone had a at&t bootscreen an wouldn't load) I went forth an flashed stock firmware avail for aiotools for the vibrant an then installed the stock froyo bootloader
I'm hoping everything is right in its place well except once i get cm9 flashed it boots up an shows a EU error so i freak yank the battery an odin this phone back into the stoneage an well... surprisingly.... my internal memory is 100% there O.O
anyways current issue is not being able to get cm7 to install though i'm probably missing something due to being tired anyways..

Well, when you say you are not able to get CM7 to install, what exactly is it doing?
Are you getting thrown into a bootloop (caused by CWR mismatch and pretty common)? If so, pull battery and boot into recovery and re-flash CM7 over itself again. No wipe. Then reboot.
You may have to flash a different kernel, like glitch or something like that. But try the above first. Should work for you. Does it still say ATT when you boot up?
Lucky for you, everything is good, but if you want to flash a GB or higher ROM, i would suggest you flash the bootloaders in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117990
After that just flash CM9, and you *should* be good, if not, try flashing it again with wiping data, cache, and dalvik cache. I guarantee that will work.
I ended up having to format both SD cards an retrying install custom rom via aio tool an with luck was able to get cm7 installed then cm10 an i dno't have the ime error everyone else seams to have . I did before this flash the gb bootloader over this cause it was the only thing that managed to remove the at&t splash screen before the kernal.
Lesson I learned....
remember that the vibrant you use aio tool not a premade pack >.<
an ya i do own both phones so this does complicate things now an then <,<
I also have both devices. Set up two different folders on your pc, one marked i897 and the other t959. I also add i897 or t959 to any files that could possibly get mixed up in Odin.
Its peanut butter jelly(bean) time...
