Sorry for the noob question, but If someone can tell me how to do it a "nandroid" backup on the tab 10.1 would be great. (very new to all this)
First install CWM, then reboot into recovery and make your backup! More info on how to flash clockworkmod in dev section!

1) you can't.
2) you don't need to. both the stock ROM and Kernel can be downloaded in the dev section.
Sorry for using this thread, but i noticed something..
my Galaxy S2 nandroid buckups have with CWM-5 7 files, with the tab and same CWM version i have only 6 (ES root file explorer shows also only 6 files -and hidden files are visible)
the ".android_secure.vfat" is missing in the Tab 10.1 backup.
how many should there be?
Think it has something to do with the S2 having an SD card and the tablet not having any. Not sure. As tablet backup won't have external_sd as S2 will

hi!
I plan to root my SGS2 phone (using odin to put a CF-Kernel on it) and then I plan to install e.g. CM7...
But I want to backup as much as possible in advance to be able to return to stock as close as possible. because of this I want to backup my very on ROM (which is at the moment samsung 2.3.4 stock with TouchWiz), so that I don't have to download a stock-ROM or something like that...
1.) Is it possible to backup my current ROM (e.g. via CWM) so that I can return to this when I find out that I don't like CM7 for example? so that I won't need to download a separate stock-rom to get to my current stock-rom, because I backed my current ROM up myself?
2.) if this is possible, can I then use KIES again after I recovered my own current stock-rom after I decided to not use cm7 anymore and I want to eturn to my own stock-backup (that I backed up in advance - if it was possible (see previous question)) to then use KIES to update e.g. to icq cream sandwich when it's released next year on the "nomal" KIES-way...?
3.) according to that I have this post, where I ask, if it's possible to backup my stock-kernel before replacing it with CF-Kernel... I'd appreciate help there, too, very much!
thank you very much!!
Read what is your current rom at about section and take notes about rom and kernel.
Then go to Intratech's thread, find your firmware and original kernel,
Download and keep in a safe place.
Use Odin to flash back to stock wit the firmware you downloaded.
Cheers.

However its untested by me how you put it back.
Also look at Post 9 from oinylicious in this Thread, you can use Zergrush only for temp root instead of Doomlords Tool where you get permanent root.
This works for the whole Phone, not just the Kernel
I did exactly what your planning.
I had a stock phone and firmware.
Used cfroot kernel to root.
Did a nandroid backup or CWM backup.
Did a titanium backup of apps.
Flashed CM7 nightly Rom.
All was good but wanted to go back.
Did a CWM restore.
Was back on stock all good as before.
Did the same with miui.
Actually I can go back and forth as I have CWM backups of each type.
Hope this helps.

thank you! yes, this is what I inteded to to. when this really works, it's great.
sorry for the noob question but "nandroid backup or CWM" is already included in the CF-Kernel, am I right?
the resulting question would be if it's possible to backup the original kernel... before I flash the CF-Kernel... I asked it here...

No but you should find matching kernel in stock roms thread .

hi gänsebraten, thank you very much for your hint. I read your linked post now. it looks very promising. and is exacly what i mentioned. but...
although, if it's still not shure if it is possible to restore the backed up files via your method... it's like playing with fire... I'm referring to your post...
did anyone tryed this way to backup and restore KERNEL and ROM and can confirm it works? I'd appreciate it very much

The problem is not only recovery. Go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=3&o=1#osa, download the firmware for your region and flash with odin. Make a full backup prior to this and also copy the contents of your sdcard to your PC. I think everything gets wiped! Oh, you can flash a 3.2 rom directly also.

I'm not real sure, I found it about a week ago. I've got the wifi 10.1 and it works fine, I can link it to you if you want.
Here's the stock recovery I used on the wifi 10.1, it works on 3.1 and 3.2 http://db.tt/HhOiSnwh you need to flash with Odin in the PDA section.

You're welcome.
Hi everybody,
I'm new at this forum and in the Android world and I have a few questions about the install process of the ICS CM9 on Galaxy tab 10.1 GT-P7500 3G.
1. If I want to backup my current ROM, do I have to be rooted to use ROM Manager to backup the ROM? And do I have to be rooted to restore that backup?
2. Can I UNROOT my device later? (The device belongs to my father's work and I don't want to take any chances with the warranty things.)
3. How to install the ICS CM9? I think I have all the files I need to so, I hust need the guide.
Thx for your help!! I really hope that I will get this thing going already!
Yes, you need to be rooted in order to install cwm through recovery and then make a backup (although you don't need rom manager. In order to flash ics you have to install pershoot's recovery with odin). You can unroot later, but you have to remove the recovery as well if you want your device to be covered by warranty for sure. So flash with odin a stock rom and you're ok BUT you may loose the data.
Listen, ics installation is tested and almost fool-proof. But bear in mind that a lot of things can/may go wrong and then you'll find yourself in a mess. Since that tablet doesn't belong to you, you should better leave it be, unless of course you have your father's consent and you have explained him all the risks involved.
It wouldn't be nice to find his tab messed up!

Try to Google it. It may come up. You can backup your device through cwm but I would also find the stock firmware if you are going to want it in the future.

OP... Why are you so hung up on ROM Manager???
Just root using the Odin method mentioned, once you've rooted and have CWM installed just do all of your backing up, restoring and flashing through it. ROM Manager is nice and all but it has its own set of issues and all. Read and learn about what you are about to do... You'll be surprised how easy it is and you'll run into alot less problems.
Please put the ROM Manager down and step away.

Flash the stock ROM again or restore a Nandroid backup from before you rooted...that is if you took one
If you want info on what CM ROMs are available, look deeper in the Development section - there are two active threads for CM9 nightlies and CM10. Or, go to Droid Basement and see for yourself. Good luck!
Okey mate i think i will flash the stock rom again to unroot when i have time ..
But what about nandroid, i do have only 2 gb free space where will cwm save my backup ?

CWM saves backups in a folder on the /sdcard root called clockworkmod/backup. If you only have 2GB of space left I highly recommend a cleanup or transfer of files off the device before you start modding. If you have a Dropbox or similar cloud storage medium those work well...or just connect your tab to your PC and start clearing out some space. You should try and have at least 4GB IMO of free space before you do anything, plenty of room for both a custom ROM + any supplemental packages (eg. GApps) + Nandroid.
Have fun!
When I flashed ganbarou gt based on cm10.1 the Sd organizationa changed. So I copied all files to the new location and deleted the old folders. Now a would like to know how I get the old location in order try to flash other rom.
I can't remember what was the location. Can somebody help me?
Ooh and by the way ganbarou is awesome.
Thanks.
Reboot the system first. Then reboot to recovery and try to flash a zip. The recovery software will find the folder where the backups are stored. Where it does not see it. Then you have to copy the file to the Clockworkmod folder in Emulated folders.

That is a problem I run into myself after the first trials with my new ROM. What I found is that flashing the latest CWM or TWRP recovery solved the problem without copying around all the files on the internal SDcard.
Try to get the latest CWM or TWRP recovery and flash it.
TWRP V2.4 can be found in A1 kernel thread.
A link to the latest CWM recovery can be found in the CM10.1 nightly thread. Look for CWM:
NEWS: Available since today is the Q&A thread for the Ganbarou GT ROMs.
To keep the development thread clean please post your questions and problems with my ROM in the Q&A thread. Thank you.
