HI,
I've flashed the latest Androidmeda over the previous version (VXD).
I've noticed that after flashing, CWM manager was missing from the app list.
According to the changelog, no changes were made to CWM manager application, and even the kernel is the same, so why can't i find CWM manager?

As this is a ROM related issue, please post your question in Androidmeda thread.
P.S.: You may have to flash a kernel containing the CWM Manager app (e.g. CF-Root) to bring it back again to your phone. Then re-flash the ROM's kernel back.

Thank you for your quick response, It_ler, i'll give it a shot. too bad that the ROM developers didn't mention it in their changelog.
Regarding the posting issue, this is the first time that I've posted a comment here, and according to this:

I cant post this question in Androidmeda thread.
Just go to the Market and install the app AppExtractor. You can extract the APK from your nan-backup (made with CWM) and saved on the sdcard. Then install the APK as usual .

That's the weird thing, UpInTheAir. that if i'm flashing the previous ROM (VXD), i can see that CWM manager is present, and the version is 3.0. and when i open the same ROM (on my PC), i cant find the CWM apk anywhere. I've extracted the 2.8.7 ROM (the one that was released before VXD) and i did found CWM manager apk under the data folder, which was version 2.0.
So i was just wondering, how the version was upgraded from 2.0 to 3.0 after I've flash the VXD ROM, even if there wasn't CWM apk inside, and the kernel is the same kernel?
Sorry if I've confused you guys, but I'm just starting to get to know the Android OS structure more deeply, and i would really like to know what I've been missing.
Thanks
Did the ROM come with a different or updated custom kernel? So maybe updated with the kernel part of the ROM ?
The kernel and recovery partition go hand in hand.
Eg. Flashing Chainfire's CF-Root kernel will give both CWM Manager & CWM Recovery.

Search for "CWM Manager apk" on the forums, there are copies of CWM Manager 2.0 floating around. It installs as an app. Unsure if there are versions of 3.0 available.
Actually, yes. but as far as i understood from the developers, they didn't touch the kernel.
Is there a way to compare between the previous kernel and the current?
I know there is a way to extract the Zimage file, like any other Linux kernel, but would i be able to know the differences?
And one more question: on post #2 by It_ler, he suggested to flash a different kernel (i.e. CF-Root) , and then flash the ROM kernel. if i'll do that, then the latter kernel that i flashed, will wipe also the CWM (recovery and manger) that were flashed earlier, am i right?
Sorry for the noob question, but If someone can tell me how to do it a "nandroid" backup on the tab 10.1 would be great. (very new to all this)
First install CWM, then reboot into recovery and make your backup! More info on how to flash clockworkmod in dev section!

1) you can't.
2) you don't need to. both the stock ROM and Kernel can be downloaded in the dev section.
Sorry for using this thread, but i noticed something..
my Galaxy S2 nandroid buckups have with CWM-5 7 files, with the tab and same CWM version i have only 6 (ES root file explorer shows also only 6 files -and hidden files are visible)
the ".android_secure.vfat" is missing in the Tab 10.1 backup.
how many should there be?
Think it has something to do with the S2 having an SD card and the tablet not having any. Not sure. As tablet backup won't have external_sd as S2 will
Hi,

Thanks, doesn't seem like it was so simple. I had tried that many a times before posting this on to the forum. When I try to install CM10.2 again through CWM, it errors out with (Status 7) error. I did a Wipe/Factory Data Reset, Wipe Dalvik Cache and format system. Tried again but the same error re-appeared (status 7).
So I had to reinstall CM11 and GAPPS for CM11 again to make the phone work with some old bugs again . Camera not working, lag in screen rotation, stock browser not working etc.,
Thanks

Thanks, not sure on what the issue with the Rom could be. I have rooted the device and then installed Blazing Kernel V3 with CWM 6.
Before I decided to upgrade my phone to experimental CM11, I used to apply all CM10.2 Nightlies without any issues.
I have tried to install even CM10.1 stable release through CWM v.6 and the same error comes up.
Further, I have always downloaded ROM's from download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=i9100g or through the CMupdater in the phone.
Can you please let me know, what version of Blazing Kernel should I using on GT-i9100G and how do I flash it safely without fearing of the "Sleep of death" happening.
Thank you.

Thanks for the tip mate:good: I did some reading and found that I need to Flash CWM 6.0.4.5 or so. But somewhere I read about kernels. Can someone tell me the sequnce in which I should flash CWM, Kernel and ROM . Probably going for CWM 6.0.4.5 , Gustavo's kernel ( just because read somewhere its good ) and POUND ROM. Do I need to do all at once ?
Do I need a PC to flash these stuff ? I have a PC without admin priviliges so I can just download the files and copy to my SD card.
I know no one wants to feed spoon , I have done my homework need someone to show me the way to do it without me having to go through entire XDA pages.
Please help.

Yes if its zip then u don't need a pc.
Just flash it without wipe
Dorimax is used for Dualbooting so people prefer that
Gustavo's kernel is one of the best known kernel for kk right now

Thanks for helping me out, Well the main reason for me to flash a Kitkat Rom was because I was not able to login into my skype account using the android app. It says " Incorrect username/Password" . Well I re-installed skype serveral times but same error. The login details are absolutely correct because I can login using PC App and browser. My friend tried his ID and still problem seems to be with my app as I too can login on other phones. Thats when I started thinking maybe this is because of my ROM. Unfortunately after following this thread to flash POUND rom it still seems cant get skype working as same error appears .
Can someone help, Skype is very important app for me.
Do I need to open a new thread related to this for related responses?

You're not supposed to extract the tar file as it is mostly the file already flashable by odin. You can just compress the zImage as a tar and you can use it with odin no problem after.
