Text messages require a cellular connection and a cellular contract. You have neither with your Nook.
So no way to auto-forward from my phone to say a google voice number(or some txt msg service) to an app on my nook and to send a reply back to my phone to resend back out via cell? like have my phone receive the txt as normal, then an app grabs it, transmits it via wifi to a server and pushes it to a sister app on my nook.
Check out syncsms. It should help you out.
I have tried text plus too. Seems to work.

If you use google voice you can get your texts and voice mails right on your nook and pc too.

Is there an app that allows you to send messages via your gps (satellite) to other android users?
gps system does not allow to actually send something...
In using GPS just recive a signal from a satellites, you don't(and can't) send anything.
yeah, I allready thought so
But before i got my phone I thought I saw an app on the internet which allowed you to send messages to someone else
The only thing you needed was a special code...
But I never found that pageagain.
Maby I had read it wrong
I only know sending messages through data.. I am using whatsapp for that.

And can't you use your g3 as a satellite phone? (with calling)
So as much as I love Google voice alot of times it won't send my messages or I receive them really delayed.... I'd like to be able to receive these texts as regulars texts and just use the gvoice app for VM... Any ideas on what to do here? However I like that now gvoice is integrated with my phone that when I do send regular texts they come from my gvoice number
Strangely I can't seem to find a setting for that at all.
I think the reason you're getting delayed texts is because you're in an area where you have aren't getting a data connection, and when that happens I've found that your messages don't send and you won't receive your messages until way later, unless you manually hit refresh after you internet access again.
Unfortunately I haven't tried this myself because I enjoy using GV for texts, but you could try reinstalling the app. I know that during the first time you start it, there's a setup which asks if you want to integrate it and all these other things. Hopefully it will give you that option again when you reinstall it. Other than that, I don't really see any options that would let you disable texts alone.
I haven't found that setting either. Google voice is awesome and all but I had to remove because of the delayed texts.

Go on the GV website. In the top-right corner you will see your phone number, click on it. That takes you to the settings page. There you will see a section that says "Forward Calls To" and you will see your number with Sprint/GV integrated next to it. Click edit under your number there and select "Receive text messages on this phone." You might have to stop the GV app from notifying you.
I did this and now I can walk around with data off (AMAZING battery life) and still send/receive texts through the sense messaging app (Sprint network instead of data connection). They still get archived by Google so Sprint must be forwarding them to Google.
I actually have to use the app. At my college campus I have absolutely no service at all. But the campus has a canpus-wide WiFi signal so I use that to send me texts...I really hope sprint can get some service over here

Does anyone know of any apps that allow you to send texts from your phone through your tab other than SyncSMS. Sync is great and all but the interface is terrible and I'd like to have the ability to only sync sometimes. Additionally if it could also receive phone calls that'd be awesome.

TabletTalk ,(I use this one myself, work great) it will also have a popup telling you who's calling when your phone ring. Just can't make calls using your phone's number. I use GrooveP to call back.

I'm having trouble with my phone's messaging. I can send texts fine, but I can't send any group messages or MMS messages. I've tried unrooting, updating to the newest OTA update, using a third party texting app, and replacing the SIM card. Nothing works. I can't send or receive group messages or attachments. I tried Go SMS Pro, and when I tried to send group messages, it failed, then sent the message individually to each person. When I tried sending a picture, it said the service was not activated on the network.
This got me thinking it might be something with our texting plan, but everyone else in my family can send and receive group messages and attachments without problems. So it's a problem with my phone only. Does anyone have suggestions?

might try going into your setting and unchecking fastboot .. read somewhere that worked for others ... good luck
Nope, that didn't work, either before or after a reboot. Any other suggestions?
Had a similar issue. I don't know if its because I'm still locked and unrooted but I recieved an error code when I would try to send messages. I actually had to get o the phone with Big Red and they had reconnect me to another network connection of some sorts. Weird.

Sorry, what do you mean you had to "get o the phone with Big Red"? You had to carry it back to Verizon?

This has been solved. I switched my number in January, and the service had been disabled then. I was able to get into a live chat with a vzw customer support guy, and he was helpful enough not only to fix MMS, but also group messaging on my phone. It took a couple of hours after trying in vain to put a password in over the phone, but contacting Verizon is the only way to fix this. If you have rooted your phone (as I had previously), and you still have that ugly "tampered" or "relocked" message at the top of the bootloader, Verizon's live chat system is probably your best bet. Even if you haven't rooted your phone, live chat may be faster. You can skip the "reboot, reset, ask other employees for help" routine you'll probably go through if you go to a physical location.
I think I have the same problem too..
When I'm sending a group message .. one of or two of the messages wont send
Is it possible to make and receive calls ?i tried installing google dialer but it does not work?
Maybe with root we can? I dunno if the hardware will allow it.
GSM Voice and Data capabilities are disabled in the radio firmware. Teh device may not even have an amplifier for GSM. Even with root we wont be able to change that unless someone knows a lot about Qualcomm radio stuff and can add/modify the proper settings in QXDM/QPST . This is VERY unlikely.
Fongo works, so does csipsimple with a sip voip account.
I expect Google Hangouts will be fine too.
Same **** as the Nexus 7. What a scummy move.
Surely works but only on wifi (won't work on 4G LTE). Tried using it with my Ooma mobile app to place & receive calls without any technical issues.
I know it's not the answer to the question but, Hangouts works fine on LTE.
What about SMS?
I tried using Pad X to receive SMSs from my bank. I inserted a SIM card into it, installed Google Messenger SMS app and tried to get any SMS. I didn't see any notifications, but when I opened the Google Messenger once, I briefly saw the SMS appear in the program, but it disappeared quickly and again I saw an empty list of messages. Do you know if there is some service in this firmware that deletes any incoming SMS?
SMS works

I have sent SMS back and forth to my phone from this tablet just fine. It simply worked.
