If you are using Windows 8 Dev Preview and download the drivers directly from HTC they are now supporting us! I redownloaded them today for ****s and giggles, lo and behold they work now!

No problem! I am just happy I don't have to load up a Win7 restore partition.
Doesn't work for me...
Windows 8 64bit
HTC Sync 3.0.5606
HTC Driver 3.0.0.017
Tried Fastboot, HTC Sync, Debugging on/off
HTC Drivers Folder is empty only drivers are in the BMP folder (useless)

I don't know what to tell you then, sorry. Maybe check in with /build and see if they have any solution ideas for you?
a bit old, but I found this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775870
this resolved for me. I had to kinda force the drivers in there, but got fastboot working.
windows 8 enterprise 64 bit is what I'm running
Anyone still have the driver installer? The link brings you to the home support page now and I need this driver.

The beta... or probably not even that, probably an alpha, has been leaked.
Anyway to the OP, well you are using a very preliminary version, so bugs are expected...
And I hope you don't do any flashing on that PC, virtual machine or not.
Did you try running KIES in Comparability mode?
"samsung kies is not working on windows 8 build 7989 and keeps crashing, any ideas? im in the process of installing a windows 7 virtual machine right now."
Tell Samsung or maybe Microsoft to fix it.
Is there a readily available download location for windows 8 alpha?
That build is old and you shouldn't expect many programs to work on it.
Better to wait for a public RC release to use that.
the virtual machine program vmware wasnt even working with windows 8 so i just said the hell with it and re installed windows 7 and i will run windows 8 in a virtual machine i will wait for the public beta before i try anything again
I already having enough issues with KIES on a 64 bit OS. Let alone an alpha build of another Windows. Lol. good luck with that!
Well, KIES is not working properly on windows 7 or other OS so what do you expect?

W8 Is not yet released so it won't work good at all. Try the compability mode if still doesn't work then must be something with w8.
tried, all compatibility mode giving same error
"Kies has stopped working"
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
guys. is there any way to connect my SAMSUNG SMARTPHONE to my computer?
i am using internet via tethering. i just barrow my friends 2G internet USB.
don't use win8 because if kies crash or odin when u installing the rom maybe u will have a hard brake because

Why are you using an old build? 8250 is out now the consumer preview why don't you download that & then try kies again?
Or set xp compatibility mode on kies.
The problem is .Net Framework 4.5 that won't work with kies

Freely available for download there, buddy.
And it's a "CONSUMER PREVIEW" which means it hit Beta... Beta meaning it's considered the final UI look unless something terribly wrong is flagged. It's quite possible in "Beta mode" that things might not run. It does seem like a Windows 7 with a more polished UI though, so I'm thinking getting KIES to run is a minor issue.
I wonder if slmgr -rearm still works.
Dude he put up the above question in Aug..any way beta build is what I am using

Ok first update to windows 8 CP build 8250 with all Net. Framework and updates installed.
Second run Kies in windows 7 compatibility mode and as administrator.
Good luck

Dude, I was having the same damn thing. I was hooking it up to my ACer W500 and it would not recognize it at all. It kept giving me a USB Error (port reset error) or some crap like that. I did a factory refreshm still no go. I went as far as reloading Windows and still no go... So I thought, let me hook it up through a UBS Hub and blam, it worked... Strangest ****! My SGS3 worked fine but the Note 2 wouldnt. I still havent figured it out but it worked through the hub... Give that a try,
I highly doubt you looked up the drivers. Theirs links all over this forum and believe it or not you can get them from SAMSUNGS website wow! If you can't even install drivers please don't root/unlock it.

Hi
I am new to android phone and have been reading these forums regarding HTC Desire X. Yasir (Nexus Prime) has helped me a for unlocking bootloader.
I was facing a problem with HTC Sync Manager. I am using windows 8 64 bit version and after spending one complete day, i was not able to sync my contacts / calender between phone and laptop.
I found a free software named ''myphoneexplorer''. Its awesome and has much more capabilities than HTC Sync Manager cant even imagine for next couple of years. You can access your phone, backup and restore contacts, messages, call logs and much more. You can even send sms, chat, make phone call and even control your phone from laptop using USB cable, wifi or bluetooth.
Just wanted to share my discovery.
Your forums are very helpful as i just started with android scene yesterday with no knowledge of it. But with the help of your forums specially Yasir, i am gonna install a ROM on it in a while.
Thanx
Great to have you here! And thanks for the tip

EDIT:
Tried it now, don't use it, my NOD32 went crazy when I went to applications tab. It installs some market app which leads you to the site blocked by antivirus.
But guys i am using it for some days and its awesome

I have a couple of issues, but I believe they are related.
First I can't get usb debugging to stay off.
If I turn it off and reboot it turns back on when I plug the phone into a computer or after a few minutes. Also disabling it and turning developer options off gives me a message box telling me that usb debugging is for development then I can see the usb debugging checkbox is selected even though the developer options are turned off.
This is a problem because I cannot get the phone to show up as MTP/mass storage on my PC. If I connect it to my PC (with the included usb cable) everything installs fine with the exception of the MTP driver which fails every time. The same phone works fine on my laptop. I have HTC Sync installed and that does not seem to help. Sometimes Sync recognizes the music on the phone, but regardless the device does not show up in My Computer except for the sync and verizon installers which show as CD drives.
Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.
That's funny...we posted the same issue almost at the same time. If you figure it out, let me know...lol

All I see in device manager is an entry under Portable Devices->MTP
It doesn't mention anything about the manufacturer etc.
Everytime I plug the phone in it attempts to install the MTP driver and fails each time.
In fact it seems to attempt to reinstall all the drivers each time I plug the phone in to the machine.
Are you running Windows? If so...which version?

Search in Google for MTP drivers for your device.. Install it and try.. Hope this helps.. Or check for MTP driver in device manager.

Wow now my machine isn't recognizing my Motorola Atrix 4G which is still on Gingerbread and just has an SD card in it. It recognizes the internal storage on the phone, but won't open folder/files, and won't even show the sd card at all.
Starting to think I may have to re-install windows.
You need to reinstall HTC drivers. And remove all other you may installed earlier.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers but nothing worked. So I reinstalled Windows 8, then I installed the HTC Drivers found here on xda before plugging in the phone to PC and it works great now. I think installing HTC Sync messed it up somehow. Not using it anymore! lol
Does anyone use windows xp? And if so, are you able to plug your phone in and access files? I can't for the life of me...
New PC got jacked, stuck with a winxp box for now...
Is it possible to run an ubuntu live cd and access phones files?

It should be included with whatever the latest version is, AFAIK you need it for MTP to work as its not native in XP, but is in later windows versions.
