[Q] Can't disable USB debugging - HTC Droid DNA

I have a couple of issues, but I believe they are related.
First I can't get usb debugging to stay off.
If I turn it off and reboot it turns back on when I plug the phone into a computer or after a few minutes. Also disabling it and turning developer options off gives me a message box telling me that usb debugging is for development then I can see the usb debugging checkbox is selected even though the developer options are turned off.
This is a problem because I cannot get the phone to show up as MTP/mass storage on my PC. If I connect it to my PC (with the included usb cable) everything installs fine with the exception of the MTP driver which fails every time. The same phone works fine on my laptop. I have HTC Sync installed and that does not seem to help. Sometimes Sync recognizes the music on the phone, but regardless the device does not show up in My Computer except for the sync and verizon installers which show as CD drives.
Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

That's funny...we posted the same issue almost at the same time. If you figure it out, let me know...lol

Did you notice if you have a yellow exclamation on HTC MTP Device in the device manager?

All I see in device manager is an entry under Portable Devices->MTP
It doesn't mention anything about the manufacturer etc.
Everytime I plug the phone in it attempts to install the MTP driver and fails each time.
In fact it seems to attempt to reinstall all the drivers each time I plug the phone in to the machine.

Are you running Windows? If so...which version?

download it outside? What does that mean? Also I have already updated to .net framework 4.5

Search in Google for MTP drivers for your device.. Install it and try.. Hope this helps.. Or check for MTP driver in device manager.
Thank me if you find my post as useful

Wow now my machine isn't recognizing my Motorola Atrix 4G which is still on Gingerbread and just has an SD card in it. It recognizes the internal storage on the phone, but won't open folder/files, and won't even show the sd card at all.
Starting to think I may have to re-install windows.

You need to reinstall HTC drivers. And remove all other you may installed earlier.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers but nothing worked. So I reinstalled Windows 8, then I installed the HTC Drivers found here on xda before plugging in the phone to PC and it works great now. I think installing HTC Sync messed it up somehow. Not using it anymore! lol

I don't know what to tell you then, sorry. Maybe check in with /build and see if they have any solution ideas for you?
a bit old, but I found this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775870
this resolved for me. I had to kinda force the drivers in there, but got fastboot working.
windows 8 enterprise 64 bit is what I'm running
Anyone still have the driver installer? The link brings you to the home support page now and I need this driver.

Dude, I was having the same damn thing. I was hooking it up to my ACer W500 and it would not recognize it at all. It kept giving me a USB Error (port reset error) or some crap like that. I did a factory refreshm still no go. I went as far as reloading Windows and still no go... So I thought, let me hook it up through a UBS Hub and blam, it worked... Strangest ****! My SGS3 worked fine but the Note 2 wouldnt. I still havent figured it out but it worked through the hub... Give that a try,
I highly doubt you looked up the drivers. Theirs links all over this forum and believe it or not you can get them from SAMSUNGS website wow! If you can't even install drivers please don't root/unlock it.

[Q] Casual wont recognize phone

On vramc3 and have new Casual installed opened with java. Once I plug in the Note it wont recognize it and just stays at Disconnected.
Tried every usb port and still nothing. Havent done anything with the phone since I obtained it except taking the OTA.
Did you turn on Developer Options and select USB Debugging?

Did you download Kies?
I just did mine yesterday - had to try 2 usb ports.
This is what worked for me:
Uninstall all samsung/note 2 drivers.
Uninstall Kies
Downloaded Android SDK ((can't link) just google
Downloaded JRLoper's Driver install URL STARTS HERE - code (DOT) google (DOT) com/p/cadi/
Then go into casual.
Casual failed on me the first time - it gave me the "libusb error: -12" error.
So I unplugged the phone from usb - pulled the battery - put battery back - plugged usb back in - turned on phone - and when casual recognized it I ran it through again - I did the same thing above 3 times in succession - each time it'd get a little further and a little further on casual. Finally launched into TWP(sp?) recovery and was rooted.
((try at own risk, but it worked for me))
I will try this. I did download Kies and even it wouldn't recognize my phone. I'll have to check it in some other ports and see if it will work.
Thanks. Will keep updated

It might be an issue with the computer. Have you tried connecting your phone to another computer using the same cable? You might want to try reloading all the windows drivers on your computer as well, or try using a different usb port on your computer.
Yea works fine on my laptop. Uninstalled and re installed kies and drivera. Different usb port alao. Not sure. Had to restore windows

Check the devise manager...it should show you the problem...you just have to remove the incorrect devise from the list

An alternative option is if you are using system restore or have a recent backup, that may bring the system back to a time when everything worked, as well.

Mine will also act up sometimes and re-installing the drivers works for me. I will get the message that the drivers are already installed. Install anyway.

[Q] Rooted/Flashed new ROM, phone is good, but now cant connect to PC via USB

I am new to Android. Just rooted, got s-off, setup TWRP, and installed Viper Rom. Everything seems to be all good on the phone.
When I attach my phone to my PC, I see the phone in my computer, but it is not letting me browse the files/folders any longer. If I try to open the phone memore or SD card, it locks up my windows explorer adn shows not responding. If I remove the micro USB cable, every think snaps back into action. I have rebooted the phone and PC I am sure its probably something stupid I am missing.
What is the deal?
Try uninstalling drivers then reconnecting. You can find the yellow explanation icon in device management
