[Q] Transformer Prime won't connect to win7 PC - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I've had this awesome tablet for just a day and loving it so far. Only issue I have right now is when I connect it to my Windows 7 PC, it is not detected at all. I have installed the PC suite (EeePAD_PC_Suite_v1_0_37.rar) which is suppose to install the requisite USB driver, but no luck.
It charges fine when I plug it into the wall so the wire is okay. Any ideas what maybe happening?

Most phones come with the drivers on them to install most functions when plugged in via PnP. I would test and see if uninstalling what you installed and then trying does. I could be wrong though. This is my first tablet and I don't have it in hand yet

i noticed that mine doesn't charge yet it does connect...make sure you restart too

I was told it will charge just at a much slower rate.

Problem solved. I did a bunch of things so I'm not exactly sure which one really fixed it. But rebooting the tablet seems to have done the trick. Also, the front USB ports on my PC have gotten a little strange. If I plug the USB connector all the way it wont work. I have to pull it out ever so slightly to get a successful connection.
Thanks for the quick response guys

No Matter what I install It still shows as an MTP device and that's it. Can not see it in any version of Windows.. any one have this issue. thanks

I got mine to work by using another cable.

[Q] HELP - Why is it saying "USB Device Not Recognized" for WMDC?

So, I just got a HTC HD2 and am trying to connect it to the PC. By the way, did the TMOUSA HD2 ever come with a cd?
I have a vista and tried to download the Activesync 4.5 but it won't allow as I am suppose to download Windows Mobile Device Center. So, I download WMDC and installed it. I plug in the phone and all I get is "USB Device Not Recognized" . PC doesn't detect it.
I have searched everywhere and tried everything but can't seem to get it going. I haven't anything solid to get it to work.
I tried:
-reinstalling the WMDC
-check and uncheck "Enable faster data sync"
Anybody have any idea? TIA
Is the phone charging LED lighting up when connected?
Have you tried another USB cable and/or another computer?
Then you could boot the phone up in Bootloader Mode. It will say 'serial' at the bottom of the screen. Then plug in the USB cable. The 'serial' should change to 'USB'. Then this might indicate that your computer is viewing the device as a unknown device. This device can be removed and your phone, in normal mode, replugged in.
This may not help, but it's worth a try. Vista has a known issue where it just stops recognising USB devices, even basic ones. Plug your phone in via USB and then restart the computer. When it comes back on it may recognise the phone. If this works then it will be okay for a while at least, but you may have to do this again every now and then.
Vista's basically a bug-ridden bag of gash. If you can, upgrade to Windows 7.
Hope this helps mate.

I tried with a laptop with vista (WMDC) and a laptop with xp (activesync 4.5). The led charging light is on, so it is charging but for some reason device not recognized.
I tried the bootloader (not sure what that does) and it says serial and then I plugged in the usb and it still says serial.
Still not working

does any one think a hard reset might help?
It sounds as though the USB controller in the phone is damaged. I had this problem with my HTC Diamond, and searched for ages trying to find a solution. I manged to flash it with a couple of times with different ROMs (from the internal memory via WiFi) - this did not solve the problem.
I am sure that a power surge from a car charger was the cause of the fault.

it couldn't hurt. i would - see what happens.
try checking cabling first or change the cable
Same problem
I am having the exact same problem. My phone can charge on the computer but I cant sync of even access it via the "Disk Drive" setting. I have tried both AcrtiveSync and the Disk Drive option, unchecking fast data synchronization, reseting the phone, and reinstalling WMDC. I have Windows 7 with the latest updates. I have also tried connecting it to two other Win7 machine with identical "device not recognized" results. The phone and cable and practically brand new. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm at my wits end with this phone and it has been beyond frustrating.
Dom
Try another pc... buddy wid wmdc in it... go for win 7

I am having same problems have tried on a vista pc, my mac and mac running parallels, nothing works. Reckon it is as fred_up says, damaged usb controller which means no NAND Android for me.
Been having similar problems, but seems to have been less likely to occur if I click "Safely remove hardware" in Vista or W7, and remove the device - yes even Activesync (doesn't seem to be available in XP)
Mark
did anybody find a soulution?
hi
did anybody get solution for this? i m having the same problem.
phone doesnt sync with wmdc, nor connect as disk, only charges itself.
message appears "usb device not recognised"
i have done everything, changed cables, pcs, re installed wmdc, even flashed new roms using micro sd....nothing happened.
is this a hardware issue? why can it be charged but not synchronised?
pls help anybody.
Try another Cable. In my case, changing the cable works. Now i m using my HD mini cable with HD2 and it is working well.

thanks,
but i have already tried all that.
today i called a phone repair shop and they told me that
this could be due to two reasons.
1. usb port problem.-in which case it is replaceable for about 15 usd.
2. problem with an IC (?) of the circuit (guess the motherboard) - in which case
it is either not repairable or very expensive.
i ll keep posting as i go and visit the shop.
if there's another solution pls share here.
Some possible solutions to non-USB
Having come here via a search, I'll resurrect the thread with a brief comment. I'm having the same problem, haven't tried them yet but found several promising suggestions:

oops...had forgotten all about this thread, until today till i received the notice about new reply.
thanks for resurrecting the thread.
actually i went to that phone repair shop i mentioned earlier and they fixed it by replacing the usb port. still it didnt work with win 7 laptops. but was fine with xp laptops. dont know why...anyway i have said good bye to my hd2 long ago & using android now
guess lots of people are.
good luck to you all.

Stock Charger Issue?

Hey, I was just wondering if it's possible that the stock charging cable is able to charge my phone, but has malfunctioned somehow to not let it be recognized by my computer?
Basically I've been trying to get my computer to recognize my phone for a week now.
I'm no expert with this stuff but I'm certainly not a noob. I've been rooted and have been flashing ROMs for months now and have odin'd many times before. Just one day none of my USB drives would work. I formatted my computer, reinstalled my drivers and i know the USB ports are functioning because they recognize other devices.
But when i plug my phone in i get "unknown device" where it used to recognize it once i had the samsung drivers installed. I've tested on a brand new computer, with samsung mobile drivers installed and same result, "unknown device"
Is Heimdall a viable option at this point? I've never tried that program but I have nothing to lose i guess, but someone can save me some precious time if they know it's not going to work, please let me know
P.S. this isn't an issue of not having debugging on or my computer seeing it as a cd-rom, the computer won't recognize the device with samsung drivers installed.

unfortunately, i don't have any other microUSB - usb cable to test out. I was just going to buy a new charger since the Verizon store is down the street from me, but I figured I'd ask since I won't be able to go until tomorrow morning
From DroidXcon at AC:
"uninstall the drivers, reboot your computer, reinstall drivers, pull out the battery of your phone connect it, put your phone into download mode and let the composite drivers install...then unplug pop your battery back in , turn on the phone, throw it in debugging mode. and connect and see if it configures"
Thanks Kevin, I've actually been tracking that thread since yesterday and the issue for me is that the composite drivers won't install on its own which is really strange to me as i've not had this problem in the past. I also tried doing everything from scratch on a new computer and got the same results... anyway, i didn't get around to it but will try heimdall tonight and see if anything changes

Thanks for the suggestion. I got it figured out. Turned out to be my charging cable. It charges my phone but won't let my pc recognize it as a device. I tested it out with a coworker's captivate charger and it worked
Some micro USB cables are manufactured only to charge. The rocketfish brand cables from Best Buy, for example. It seems to me the manufactures simply leave out a connecter on one or both ends of the cable, or leave out one of the lines all together. Try another cable.
I just saw your using a stock cable... I'll post anyway in case this helps someone else. Good luck!

Can't connect to pc

Hello,
I have a problem with my HTC Legend. My pc doesn't recognize my phone when I plug the USB cable in. I don't get a USB-menu where I can choose between the different modes, the phone only charges...
I have read a lot of threads all over the internet, but I couldn't fix the problem. Here are some things I already tried:
- USB Debug enabled
- Ask which USB mode to use enabled
- Tried different USB ports on different computers
- I did a hard reset on the phone
- Rebooted the PC and phone multiple times
I really don't know what else to do right now. Maybe it's a problem with the drivers on my pc (windows 7 x64)? I don't need HTC sync, I just want the phone to act as a disk drive.
I hope someone can help me and many others too I think, with this problem!
Hey, this probably won't do anything, but mine is realllyyyy touchy, like I wiggle it a tiny bit and it will cut out or start working. Otherwise, try the cable with another phone if possible, it could be the cable, I don't think it'll be the phone if none of that works.
you may have the same problem i had.
see my post.
I have windows 7 X64 and my Legend works fine... the windows no is the problem windows install the legend good
Having the same problem, i've decided like Meocene said, that the usb port is busted. Mine still charges luckily, but connecting to a PC doesn't work in any mode. Windows reports an unknown device for which it can't find drivers, Linux is a bit more helpfull and blurts out messages about not being able to enumerate a USB port. Worst part, mine hasn't been properly rooted yet and still running on a original Sense ROM...
That was precisely the problem I was having - would charge but nothing else. Either send it back 4 repair or do it yourself.
Once I replaced mine everything started working and I'm now running CM7.1 - is nice.
My HTC LEgend like your,
I usualy restart the Phone when i connect the Phone with PC by cable

Hello,
I'm having a problem with the S4.
When I plug it into the computer (Running Windows 7), the device starts charging and I can sync files with the device.
But, it starts reconnecting, the USB connection just keeps disconnecting and connecting over and over again, nonestop.
But the device is still charging, only the connection to the computer stops.
Its going back and forth drom cd installer to mtp? Drivers are installed?
Does someone know what the problem might be?

I had a similar issue, the problem was damage to my USB ports. Try different ports.
When this was happening to me I found the problem to be the cord I was using, with the littlest of bumps it would loose connection. Try swapping to another cord and see if it fixes your problem.

^ This. I've got quite a few cables that I cycle between for different instances, and there are one or two I have that seem to be really finicky.

Don't know why it happens but ROMs like jellybeans4 bypass the installer and go straight to mtp which fixed it for me.

I had a similar issue where it would constantly disconnect and i could never get it to connect long enough to get past the installer, but it only happened on my desktop and on all usb ports, so i rooted using my laptop which didn't have the problem, and installed Hyperdrive, and now i can connect to my desktop just like i was before, but without all the disconnects. so it seems like it was a combination of my phone and my desktop not getting along nicely, but with a custom rom everything is fine.
Ahh now that I think about it the newest Samsung USB Drivers might help him also.

DNA now won't connect to PC

So I was just going to change ROMs, and I realized that my DNA won't connect to a PC over USB anymore. I always plug it in at work via USB to a laptop to charge, and it would normally open the autostart/autorun window, which I would always notice because I'll switch computers often. Last week the autostart dialog stopped opening, but I was distracted with work being busy and it just went to the back of my mind.
Until now.
I've checked all the normal trivial stuff... trying different cables, using different USB ports, and obviously different PCs. It also won't be detected by ADB. Yes, developer options are enabled, yes USB debugging is enabled. It sounds to me like its the port on the phone, so then I'm screwed, but I was just wondering if anyone knows any tricks I can try.
Are you running a custom rom? Go to settings>storage>storage settings>USB computer connection and make sure the connect as Media device (MTP) is checked. Same thing happened to me and some how this setting was unchecked

You going to laugh at me but download PDAnet and it will redownload the correct drivers.

Have you found a solution for this? I am in the exact same situation with no solutions working for me. I tried PDAnet and many other things. The device is unrecognized by my computer completely not even showing up in the device manager. This likely is a hardware issue, but I'm rooted with no way to return to stock because I can't connect to my computer which makes me unable to use my warranty for repair. This is a really unfortunate pickle as I'm not sure if I can even do anything at this point. I have found online that people with a hardware issue with connecting to their computers also had the slow charge notification when charging either through the computer or the power adapter. Mine does not display slow charge which gives me some hope that it is somehow a driver issue. Do you get the slow charge notification at all?
EDIT: It's a hardware issue for me. Noticed my charger is sticking slightly more out than usual, and it just can't get the right connection

Hey guys, just figured I'd follow up. Sorry for the delay, XDA email notifications somehow ended up in my spam folder.
Anyway, for me it just turned out to be that all the cables I tried were bad. Pretty low odds, I'm actually surprised both my cable at home and the one at work were all bad. Sure enough I tried it with a coworker's cable and it worked fine.
