Video on my galaxy player 5 using skype comes up upside down for the front facing camera. It seem an issue with a lot of devices, but someone in a forum said their video was ok before updating skype.
Does anyone has good video in skype and can tell me their skype version?
I unfortunately don't have an answer for your question but I need to know, how's upside down? Is it you on their end or them on your end?

Both. My image appears upside down while transmitting it right to the other end. And in this position the received image from the other end is also upside down.
I think it is something to do with the camera software, not Skype because I got Google talk with video and it does the same thing, but only in portrait, not landscape.

Upgrade YP-G70 from Froyo to GB
Upgrade YP-G70 from Froyo to Gingerbread, the problem can be solved (my experience). Or get a previous version of Skype if you can find it.
Same problem on LG G2x. Can't seem to fix it. Seems like it would be such a simple thing for the developer to add a simple "rotate video" option. How stupid. Anyone find a fix yet?
Do a hand stand jk i would say,try an older version of skype.

A video link was posted in one of the threads here, in which the presenter said that the SGSII "supports" Skype.
Was that a dumb person's way of saying it has a fraont facing camera? Or has anyone actually ready anything specific about the SGSII coming preloaded with Skype?
Just wondering...
I hope it has video enabled Skype preloaded... but probably it won't have.
Most probably the woman in the video had no technical skills at all and just said that because it has a front facing camera... we'll see.
In either case, Skype is available via the market place, does it not support front facing camera?
I don't own a Android device as of yet so do not know. Can anyone confirm?

Skype is available in the Android Market, however there isn't a video-call support for Skype as of now, on Android.
There are a few videos/articles floating about that there's a version of Skype designed specifically for the HTC Thunderbolt that supports video calling over 3G/4G.
Perhaps that's what the person would be referring to? That the particular version of Skype for video calling could also come with the S II. Anyway this part's just my speculation.
Thats BS, I use Skype on the iPhone to do a low of video calling with my clients, it would suck if I cannot do that any longer.
What a turn off.
Going to bump this, anyone tried installing skype on the new S2 to see if video works?
someone from my local forum said that Fring has video support for sgs2
I have skype installed. It doesn't appear to have a video call option.

I can confirm that, no video support in Skype it seems.
just audio calls on skype, no video option maybe soon in update?
Skype's days are numbered one way or the other ... or do you really think Microsoft is going to offer a competitive Android client? (Would be a first, that one.)
Has anyone had any success with video chat through yahoo messenger on a gingerbread ROM? I can make a call but it forces me to rear camera even with the new kernels... Anyone else?

Having the same problems here. I got that qik application to work properly, but the person on the other end of the video call says that the video is upside down. Had the same upside down issue on fring too. Hope we get this issue resolved soon. CM7 rc1.3
Nope, I use Google talk and it works fine...

Yahoo Messenger with the video plug in from the market only works from my phone to PC. At least for me. I can't seem to get it to work from phone to phone.
Google Talk works, but the video is sideways/upside down last I tried unless they fixed it.
fring works well but you get echos with the voices. Typically the sound is too low.
I never got Qik or Tango to work phone to phone.
Is there a fix to make the camera not be upside down on the distant end? If the fix is flashing CM7 or better yet CM9 that would be fine by me. Thanks.
I've tried Movicha and for whatever reason the PC only receives the audio from the gTablet, not the video.
I've also tried vTok. I'm able to get A/V on both devices but the picture is rotated on its side (and, no, turning the camera doesn't work).
I just now tried Yahoo Messenger as well and it has the same issues as Movicha (though I realize it's in beta and only officially supports the MyTouch 4G and EVO)
Is there any other way to do video chat with a PC on the gTablet?
I don't know what to use either. Been messin with video chat between gtab and PC all week.
What I've discovered:
Yahoo --> PC works kinda
I could never get the video addon to mesh with the yahoo msngr app quite right, had to reinstall for every use on tnt lite and with vegan 5 won't work at all
when it did work audio was unreliable and video eventually got unusable
vTOK --> best audio but video was atrocious
movicha --> seems like it would be best but I have same problem you do and can't receive audio from pc to droid either (dont have web cam to test right now).
I guess fring worked with skype last year until skype pulled support so verizon could have exclusive access or some BS like that.
In other words bad news all around
Try tango
Edit: Sorry looks like its cross mobile platform but not on pc

Here is a version of yahoo messenger that works.
PS - If at first it doesn't work, change to back cam and then back. Or shake the device. Or do something. If you just give up after 2 seconds of trying, I highly recommend you get the ipad.

Yes.................
I read that Skype finally updated their Android app to allow video calls. We use skype on the netbook, and I look forward to being able to use it on the gtablet soon for video.
Has anyone tried the new release of Skype yet?
At this point in time its only for gingerbread and is available for only four devices.

Couldn't it be tricked to work by some build.prop edits like netflix app ?
Just Skyped last night and noticed something peculiar: my image was sideways no matter how I turned the Flyer. The person I was Skyping repoted the same problem.
The the SKype developers really screw this up and assume that the camera on our tablet is at the top and not on the right side? Is there a setting somewhere in the Skype app to fix this?
Yeah, Skype does not get along with a lot of ROMs. on the one I use (LeeDroid) it works fine in normal landscape mode, but turn the tablet any other way and the picture is upside down
That same thing was happening with Skype on the flyer too. It started happening after the latest update I couldn't find a fix within Skype so I just uninstalled it and then installed a previous version. The camera is now working correctly in landscape and portrait.

On the Honeycomb leaks, the cameras work with skype , but with the same rotation issues, but they don't work with some other apps like camera 360 and paper camera and google talk video.
Is anyone aware of an app that can record video from a ffc on the Vibrant? Something like Qik would be ideal, but Qik has never been able to see my ffc.
im pretty sure the rom has to support it for the video in the ffc to work
some roms only let u take pics with it if thats the case apps like tango or skype wont really work right with the ffc

To be clear, I am using a JPK-based rom. The camera works, front and back. Skype and Tango work, front and back. There is just no option in the video recorder app to switch the camera to the front. This is also the case in Qik.
Hey OP not related to your question, where can i get a version of Skype that will use ffc on Froyo?

I'm actually just using Skype from the Market. If that's not working for you, you might try a different ROM, or as a possible quick fix, just change your build.prop ro.product.model to GT-I9000.
There was a version that was hacked, but I don't know if it's still supported.
