Hello
I updated the rom from 1.73 to 2.73 (i think) - I backed up my apps and settings, i restored them and all is working fine. But the apps i restored are no longer showing in "My downloads" on the android market.
So i don't know when an app update is available. How do i re-add them to this list without reinstall all my apps?
Thanks.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Hi there! I have a rooted phone with original kernel KE8. I wanted to replace my Google Maps app (which is a system app) with a newer version of the same app. The version which came pre-installed on the SGSII was 5.2, but my friend has given me a newer version 5.6. But the problem is that the new version is not getting installed because the older version will not get removed by the uninstaller. Does anyone know how to do this?
Titanium Backup I guess.
Regards.

I have Titanium Backup latest version. So how to uninstall my existing Google Maps using that app? Can you please explain in detail as I don't see any "uninstall" option in Titanium backup.

Go to the "Backup/Restore" tab. Tap the app to bring up various action buttons, one of which is uninstall. Be careful....

Tried. It does not show a list of System Apps. So I cannot remove Google Maps with this app. Thanks for trying to help though

Did exactly what you told. Google Maps is removed but so are 3 other applications along with it.....Navigation, Places & Latitude! And the new file which I had of Google Maps v5.6 version is also NOT installing. So now what to do? How do I get them back? I did not create any backup of them before uninstalling the existing Google Maps.

@prosumerhacks : Thanks, that's exactly what I'm doing right now. But was just wondering why wouldn't the phone install a Google Maps file which is already downloaded and transferred to my phone from my laptop?

It does, under the tab "Constricter" find Maps and uninstall. It works here!
Thanks everyone for helping. I re-installed the latest version of Google Maps from the Market again. Navigation, Places & Latitude are a part of Google Maps only and were also installed.
There is also an app called 'Root Uninstaller' free in Android market which allows to uninstall and even freeze system/sd card apps which TB doesn't allow in the free version.

So I've been in a minimalist mood lately. I'm not running gapps. What do I need from Google to use skype and general voice input like on the keyboard. Is it Google voice? If so, does that have any dependencies?
Edit: I guess what I need is Google Voice Search.
2nd edit: hmm... Harder than expected. Since Google Voice was already installed on my Sense ROM I could not download the standalone app. Backing up the system app and applying it via Titanium does not work. Any ideas?
Edit 3: I was really having a "doh" moment. I ended up making a cm backup and installing gapps then backing up the apps I need then returning to my cm backup and restoring apps from titanium including the system app com.Google.android.voicesearch 4.0.0 - everything works just fine now
I've installed helium on my phone and successfully enabled it using the desktop application, but not all apps appear on helium's selectable apps list. In fact i was hoping i could backup google maps data to save my downloaded offline maps and safely check new google maps versions.
any help or recommendation is greatly appreciated

I just flashed the Barren stock deodexed rom, but there are some apps i cant restore in TiBu. The apps in particular seem to be all of the google apps (chrome, youtube, voice search, et cetera), while others are the LG weather (which i kind of liked), swype, talk back. They appear in Titanum as greyed out with a line through them and when i go to restore them, the restore dialogue box just hangs. What can i do to fix this?

If you need some of the Sprint or LG apps, they won't install. I'd need to add some files for those to work. I think they were in /cust/overlay/apps.

Install them from the play store. They are no longer system apps. Googlesearch/youtube/Gmail and maybe a few others.
So now we should flash a gapps package even on stock Roms?
