Panic! pls help?
Hi
So i tried flashing via cwm a rom and while trying to wipe the dalvik cache i think i pressed a wrong menu item. i said something like "back menu disabled", only had the option to format a partition, i did that, and gave me otions to choose from 0m to 4G... i chose 0m. i dont know what partition got formated to that...
anyway, after that, i only got the option to "reboot to recovery". did that, and it gave me a new menu, which now appears always at the power on, with all the options that normally appear when press vol-down... bunt its not on just onle line, its a long list, where all appear. i can select them all, if i tell it to boot, it boots the rom just fine, BUT the screen is misaligned! the press appears higher than normal. for example, i cant press the last row of icons, the back/menu/etc...
any ideeas please?
is there any way to reformat those back? or to flash a fresh partitioning system, even the stock one?
thank you very much

I'm on my phone so I can't be of Much help but i reccomend doing a search of both the q/a section and the general section for "partition" and see what you can find out.

2.if that work flash the rom again "do the wipes carefully this time"
3.if that work just enter to the setting and in the storage section format your sd card you can format both. "if you have something on them make a back up in your computer first"
and please buddy use the search first

I tried to root my vibrant using Galaxy_One-Click_Root.exe however I didn't get the "reinstall packages" option and was stuck in the recovery mode with only four options that I have and I can't choose any one of them when I press the power button are:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
I can see that my computer recognizes the internal and the external sdcards by seeing an icon for both of them BUT I can't access them although the drivers are updated and I used to install roms using the odin software before without any problems.
PLEASE I'M DESPERATE FOR HELP

First boot up your phone then mount USB open the internal drive and make sure there is a file called "update.zip" then boot your phone into recovery then scroll to "apply sdcard:update.zip" from your phone. Make sure when you ran the one click root.exe you were not mounted and you have it set to usb debugging mode
Bro,
for future ref, PLEASE READ ALL DIRECTIONS before modifying system files on your phone. Failure to do so could result in a brick which is unrecoverable. Also, before you do ANYTHING within rooting or flashing to your phone, Please backup your settings in Clockwork recovery

Why are you asking people to email you?? You've posted in 2 different topics on people who are having issues with soft bricks and simply say 'Email me' in both of them... the point of these forums is to help people IN the forum so others can use someone else's mistake as a lesson.
I'm assuming you are wanting these people to email you so that you can help them... and NOT to have them send you their phone in hopes you fix it for them then never send it back!
Anyway, keep the helping within the forum so others can use it as a learning tool as much as the OP!

Some times I pm the people asking them to hit me up on AIM because Its easyer and faster. And a question like this one has been asked a ton of times and its pointless to make another thread about it.
So here's my story. I decided I wanted to root my Bell Motorola Atrix and put Cyanogenmod on it. So I went to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302423 and followed it step by step perfectly - no issues. I installed the latest nightly of Cyanogenmod for the atrix without any issue it said it was successful and I let it boot. In the guide it said wait up to 10 minutes but my phone never got passed the "unlocked" screen after like 15 minutes. So I did a battery pull and tried again - same issue. So I tried reinstalling it and went through the same process of not getting passed the "unlocked" screen. I then tried recovering into my backup. Now this is where I think my problems are coming from.
After transfering the cyanogenmod nightly build zip to my phone I was pretty low on space, but I thought nothing of it. I did the clockworkmod backup and it seemed to have no problems however I noticed afterwards my phones internal storage was sitting at something like 5kb of free space left. So fast forward to now, and I'm currently thinking even though it said it worked, I think it didn't manage to backup everything so I'm left without a proper backup to restore from. (At least I figure, because it won't work.)
So pretty much I'm able to boot in to the clockworkmod menu but that's about it, and I'm not sure if I can install a new rom with how little internal space I have, is there anything I can do? :S Help would be REALLY APPRECIATED! Sorry if this is in the wrong section!!!
Right section! From within CWM, you can go to Mounts and Storage> Mount USB storage so that you can clean some stuff out from your computer. Then just try another ROM!
When I do that I can only get my external SD to show up under my computer, I can't get access to the internal memory.
Thanks for the reply!!
They should both show. Try another reboot into recovery. Why not just use your external if you have one?
Hm. I thought it installed it onto the internal storage. Or at the very least, your phone boots from the internal storage.
I'll try that and see how it goes, thanks very much!
No problem. Let me know how it goes, and hit the thanks BUTTON
I installed Cyanogenmod from the external sd (internal still won't show up) and I'm still getting stuck at the "unlocked" screen. :S
Did you do a fastboot wipe before you tried installing?

A fastboot wipe? Like going into cwm and clearing cache, dalvik cache, etc?
If that's not it, what is it?
It can be accessed by holding volume down during a boot. It's part of the android SDK. I'll find you a link in a sec, hold on.
EDIT:
I haven't personally tried this tool. Give it a shot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314607
Make sure your phone is in fastboot mode and use the tool for option 10 (erase all).
Then retry flashing CM7 from your external sd.

Still not work. Stuck on unlock screen.
The steps I took just now were:
1. Option 10 through the tool you just showed me.
2. Boot into cwm
3. Install cyanogen through my sd card
It's weird, the first install I did took a few minutes. Ever since, each time I've attempted an install it says it's successful after like 15 seconds.
It's a small package and shouldn't take that long (15 seconds sounds about right). I'd try the latest weekly instead. Do the fastboot wipe again first.

I'm already using that one. I've tried the latest nightly, and the one that's considered "stable" on the cyanogenmod xda thread. Neither has worked.
Well the last thing I can think to try (and this is only because of your space issue): Boot into recovery again, Mounts and Storage>format all of the options there manually. Perhaps the PDS fix from the fastboot tool as well.

I'm not entirely sure if I'm using that one. Would it make much of a difference?
Well it's (potentially) the only inconsistency between what I do every day and what you are doing now. When you boot into recovery it should say up top what build it is. Mine reads "CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.7-atrix5." You should be using this one (grab it from my previous link if you aren't).
Hey guys..sorry to bother you good folk at Vibrant forums but i have a few questions. I just rooted my brothers phone and now im lost. Im not not a complete noob for as u can tell by my name, u can assume i have a rooted epic or not lol. But his phone is rooted and i have no idea where to get him a cwm bc i cant find rom manger the free version. All i want to do is put the redsurrection theme on for him befo i leave as a xmas present. And preferably a rom with great batt life. Thanks in advance.
Questions: Where do i get a cwm? Which rom for battery? Also is this rom compatible with the redsurrection theme?
Download this update.zip file to flash CWR.
Copy the update.zip to the INTERNAL SD (not the external SD Card).
If you prefer, you can power off your phone, then hold in all 3 buttons to boot into recovery, I don't see the point in waiting for the phone to power off.
This will get you to a recovery menu (blue/purple text) after some yellow text.
In this (the stock recovery menu) select 'Reinstall Packages'
Use volume to navigate + power to select.
It will cycle a bit, you will see that yellow text again, then it will return to the stock recovery. Select Reinstall packages again.
You are now in CWR (clockwork recovery).
You can either reboot, flash your new ROM or make a backup now...

I am glad there are now more of us that help, rather than just saying search. With the mass Exodus not too long ago, those have been filtering out.
the last thing i did was open this app called ROM manager, and tried to backup my ROM i believe. It took me to the "android system recovery" menu, and i didnt really know what i was doing, so i selected "reinstall packages", and then "reboot system now", and then it reset my phone and now all it does it show the samsung vibrant screen, then I get a small vibration, followed by a pause, then a triple vibration. I am able to go back to the system recovery menu, and nothing different happens when i go to "reboot system now" I even deleted all user data! im kind of a noob, so i would appreciate if someone would help me out here. Thanks.

This AIO tool have everything in it JFD,Pit and Update
http://crescent-pc.com/androidpub/In...lbox 2.5.msi
On AIO click back to stock and read the instruction. That way u can go back in stock. Once your phone return in stock. Then next step click root your phone. Then next step flash custom rom. I recommend you to follow every step from AIO
Not to sound like a **** or anything; but next time you might wanna do a little research and reading before you actually do things to your phone since you "didn't really know what you were doing".
what do i put in Odin, for BOOTLOADER, PHONE, and CSC?
in the PIT i have the PIT.pit selected and in the PDA i have the PDA.tar selected but dont know what to select in them up there
Nvm! i got it, Thanks for the help! and im guessing i have to root it again? huh? xD

The red message on the HTC screen means you unlocked your device it's not a big deal. Press the power button for 10-15 seconds that is a simulated battery pull. Boot into recovery wipe cache/del cache/factory reset/system and flash whichever rom you have on your sd card and you should be fine.
BTW you should post questions or calls for help in Q&A

ok, so i don't have an sd card... I flashed the kernel thing from my computer using the command dialogue box. When you say boot into recovery wipe cache/del cache/factory reset/system, do you mean when you push the power button and the down volume button and it takes me to the screen that has the bootloader/recovery/factory reset/etc?
I'm sorry i'm dumb, but i really need an explanation of what this stuff is...
