well if u root 2.2 and than upgrade using lg update than u lose root.
u need to install custom recovery and use custom root which wont remove ur root as all custom rom has root privilege already
Or update via KDZ Updater or LGMDP and use Gingerbreak
i've read that accepting a lg update after the phone is rooted can bork the phone
Yes kdz updater is risky but i use it to flash the 20c if you down all the step completely then it work fine and yes your root is gone and you need to root your phone.

No not back to 1.6, just the first 2.1. When you have done that root it like usual and then flash the modified update that is pre-rooted.
Hope you have backups? When you get your phone right create a backup with xrecovery, it makes things so much easier.

Hey XperiaX10iUser,
I'm sure you know about the new update for X10a. Seeing that you've worked with Z, do you have any insider info on if/when/where there will be a rooted xRecovery method to update and also for your ROM? If you do one for X10a, would you consider using 1234-4836? It has voice search stock. Seeing that we aren't getting Froyo or Gingerbread, and google voice search is 2.2 in Market/app brain.

Did you try letting xRecovery install them for you first? Once xRecovery apk is installed on your phone go into your app drawer and open xRecovery and click install. Will get 3green check marks and done.
Install manually: You need to get Root Explorer from Market and set to R/W to get write permissions to copy jar files from sdcard and to destination folder.

2.2.1 can't be rooted.... You need to downgrade your firmware. Download a 2.2 ROM from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865479 and flash it via KDZ, once the 2.2 boots, you can root it and install custom recovery. Make sure you back-up your data cuz, it will wipe everythin.
Hi I've rooted my phone and when I try to apply the firmware update it doesn't allow me to do it (goes into CWM boot mode instead). Anyone know what I"m doing wrong? Also once I upgrade the firmware.. can I still root my phone?
Thanks in advance for the help

You cant install ota on a rooted device, only on stock firmware
you need to find the update for cwm and download, then flash it
Latest Chainfire root is supposed to allow OTA updates .
But the OTA update will of course break root and you will need to reroot .
jje
thx works now

Confirmed, latest CF root let you update. but root and all modifications disappeared include custom kernel if you have one. and some apps might need to be reinstall.
Just updated my phone and lost all modifications and root, setting it back now.
So i rooted the device using odin 5.0.7 and saw that i cannot update my O.S
Can anybody give me a step by step instruction on how to unroot my device or if there is any way to upgrade my rotted device??
P.S-I am a newbie and i know very little about such things
If you have superuser by chainfire then you can unroot using the app itself. Otherwise download and flash via odin any stock firmware to unroot. Better still flash the latest stock instead of ota updating.

If you want root you are going to have to flash the new Roms as they are released and not try OTA anyway. If you want stock, that's fine, but you can't do much around here with a stock Rom.

there in no root exploit for 4.4.4 yet, you have to downgrade to 4.4.2, root it, install recovery and then flash one of the various 4.4.4 prerooted firmwares available on the forum by recovery.
there are some tutorials available for this process, search and you'll find them.
Thanks for your reply

Use D6503_17.1.2.A.0.314_Customized CE5 https://mega.co.nz/#F!bwpWVADT!NPkA4EHXT9o2Ar8gjV7nYA to downgrade and root only
Then update to .167 OTA but enable Survival mode in SuperSu.
Root will stay. Then just install latest [NUT] dualrecovery.
