I have two questions is the led in the power button light up when charging or when the tablet is on. I am not seeing it when either of these things are happening. Also the tablet does not seem to charge when the tablet is on and pluuged into the charger it discharges like it was only runnig on battery power.
The light is on for me when I'm charging but not when I'm using the tablet without being plugged in.
light is on only with all charger. not pc charging
My led is NOT on while charging. It's plugged into the charger which is in a wall outlet, not plugged into a PC. Now that I think about it I don't think I've seen the LED at all. Am I missing a setting?

Wow...not very useful there.
Thanks for the info.
Well I do not see a better place for it. It has a great battery span. it also charges very quickly ive noticed.
mine shows green right now, i completely forgot it had one until i read this thread.
if yours doesn't show up when it's plugged in, it seems as if it's not working right. there's no setting for the led.

So it looks like the led is not working so now the question is should I return it for this issue when every thing else is working and then take my chances that new one does not have issues and the wait time waiting for the store to get stock in for the replacement.
The light shows green when its fully charged. shows amber/orange when its charging up. asus battery widget works well to let you know also its fully charged or charging also. it does charge up pretty fast.

I let my battery die off this morning til I got home. I plugged it into the wall and tried to boot up. I got the green light to flash but then nothing. I pulled the battery out and even left it charging for a few hours. Still, the phone does not power up. The green light turns on for a bit and then off. I haven't done any mods to the phone...
Any idea what is going on? Or perhaps how I can fix this? Any help would be great.
Weird. I had it plugged in my Energizer Ps3 controller stand (it has two usb outputs) which was giving me the issue before. I finally plugged it in to the wall and it boot up fine. I guess the PS3 stand may be faulty...

Use the charger that came with your phone.
If you do a google search, you will see that the droid x and droid 2 also have this same issue.
next time it happens, pull the batter and SD card. wait a minute or two, put in the sdcard and battery, then plug in the WALL charger. It will power on the phone and boot it up.
has happend to me twice - so now i just never turn off my phone rebooting it is also touch n go to be honest... the phone is sooo sensitive!
The phone's not sensitive...it requires an 800mA charger (0.8A). If you connect it to something less it doesn't have enough power to charge the device. If you let it sit long enough it *WILL* charge it...but it'll probably take a day to have enough juice to start up. If you let the battery drain completely it usually won't turn on until there's like 15% or more battery charged. Charging 15% battery on a 400mA charger (which could very well be the level your PS3 charging stand outputs) would probably take like 7 hours.
Thanks for the info, everyone!
I'm sorry for the bump, but this has happened to my mother's Atrix that I gave her just 2 days ago.
She found it turned off, wouldn't power. I figured it wasn't charged so I'm trying to charge it on the wall adapter that it came with but no green light. I've put it on my laptop and the green light appears.
It's not turning on though...can someone reassure me that if the light turns on, it WILL power eventually?
Same problem here

hello man, i have the same problem you have, did you find out something useful???
So I took the prime of its box, plugged it into the wall and tried turning it on. When I did, the Android battery indicator screen showed up. The battery was in the red, about a quarter the way up. I've since called Asus about the issue, and they told me to charge it for about an hour. I've done that, and still it doesn't work. It still boots into the same screen. It won't even go into recovery if I hold volume- and power for 10 seconds, just back to the battery screen. I feel like maybe I'M doing something wrong here. Any ideas, guys?

it's gotta charge. mine did that too and i was freaking out. apparently not all tablets are charged. It took about 10 minutes to finally get it to boot up.
If you charge it and it still doesnt...then it might be time to ..worry
I'm only worried because it's been charging for an hour and still just goes to the battery screen, shutting off immediately after. I'll let it charge for a few hours and if it still doesn't work I'll just have to call Asus.
Whoa sorry to hear this. When i plugged mine in it started booting up & went to the home screen. It had 21% battery left on it.So i shut it down & letting it charge the full 8 hours that's recommended before even using the device.I hope yours works.
Make sure the charging light is on
where's the charging light?
its built into the power on button. a tiny little orange led
It's not coming on. When I plug the tablet in, it recognizes that it's plugged in and vibrates, tries to turn onamd fails.
Make sure it is plugged in all the way in the tablet.. and then wait a bit. you must use the wall charger.
It has been plugged all the way into the tablet with the wall charger :-/
Dang! Sorry to hear this. if it doesn't come on within the hour id say just exchange it. it might bea faculty unit. it should have enough juice to boot up by now considering if you charging it properly. Good luck. wish it was working for you because this is a great device.
I am having the same problem too when I first plugged it in the battery indicator screen came on real fast and turned off the orange charging light came on and turned off.I tried plugging into the computer it does nothing diffrent.I think it might bricked.
okay. i just got my primetoday, same deal. it doesn't start, tried to reset, etc. i finally charged it for a while, after a while, it finally boots. at that point it was at the 15% battery life mark.
seems a bit odd.... i would wait and see.. if its game stop they would of had games installed on it.
I just got mine today...woot!!! But the issue that u have happened to me also what it happened was a faulty charger

I tested the charger on my phone and it worked. I plugged into the tablet and pressed the power button the led came on and blinked and turned off quickly.I think the battery needs a good charge.
I had to charge mine until the battery indicator was green before it would turn on. Said in the manual to fully charge before using for the first time... so maybe it doesn't let you start up until charged?
Well after 3 hours of charging it finaly started up but the battery level was low 3% showing that tells me the battery had no charge in it.Well I am happy that it is working and hopefully no other problems show up.
Good to hear
Same exact thing happened to me, lol. Mine arrived with zero charge and I just let it sit for about an hour plugged in and all was well.

So I've been running CM9 nightlies on my phone for a for a while now and everything has been working great. I believe the last nightly I flashed was 5/12 or around there and I've had no problems with it so far until last night my battery was about to die. So I plugged it in to my computer to charge overnight. This morning when I woke up I noticed the phone was dead and was pretty warm to the touch. Now it won't turn on.
I have tried pulling out the battery and letting them both sit for about 30min but it still won't turn on. When I put the battery in and try turning it on the charging icon pops up for a second or 2 then goes away and sometimes it will flash on and off. I think it could be the battery because if I take the battery out and try going in to download mode it will turn on to the initial warning screen warning about flashing and what not. If i put the battery in at this point it immediately shuts off. I just don't know how it could go from working fine to not working at all overnight.
Anyone have any suggestions? The phone is only about 4 months old.
Use your wall charger to charge it.

Sorry I should have added that to the original post, plugging directly into the wall is what I have been trying today and still no luck.
He means why in the world would u plug your phone into your computer to charge especially if it was almost dead. Next time i would just use the standard wall charger from the get go if you're looking to fully charge it.

Every phone that I have ever owned with a USB port I have charged through the USB port from a computer, and I have never once had an issue. When I plugged it in the battery symbol changed to charging so I didn't think anything of it. When I woke up it was dead.

^ This.. I mean yes you can use USB to charge, but USB isn't as reliable for everyday use...
I pulled the battery and then let it sit for about 30 min and then charged from the wall charger for about 30 minutes and it still will not even turn on.
Order a new battery off Amazon or something.
Will it power on with the battery in and the wall charger connected?

I'm thinking that's what I'm going to do. Might take it to Best Buy and see if they can check it since the phone is only 4 months old. Not holding my breath on that though.
Phone will not turn on with the battery in while plugged in to the wall charger. I can see the battery symbol with the little circle when I first plug it in but it goes away after a second or so. The only way I can get the phone to turn on is if I remove the battery, hold the volume buttons and plug the USB cable in while connected to a PC. This brings up the download mode warning screen asking to continue. If i put the battery in at this screen it shuts off. If I hit continue with the battery out if shuts off. I guess the only thing to do is try another battery.
Does it taste like chicken? If so, then its probably fried.

Replace the battery.
welp apparently it fixed itself. I just left the battery in it and let it sit powered off for the rest of the work day and when I was leaving work ready to head to Best Buy just out of curiousity I plugged it into my car charger and it magically turned on. Now the wall charger and USB charging are working as well. No clue what that was all about but works for me. Thanks for the replies guys.
Bah same thing is happening to me with my sgs2. It just keeps showing the battery charging screen then going off. Any ideas?

Your battery should be dead. My dad had exactly the same experience as you did. Try calling att for a new battery if the phone still in warranty.
USB charging is just unreliable: different motherboards may even supply slightly different voltages. Although it doesn't make a difference in normal use, adding a near empty battery to the equation complicates things.

Has anyone ever see the notification LED on the Amaze go green when charging while shutdown? With power off, mine stays orange forever - even after unplugging, right up until I power it on.

Yes. I was actually conditioning my battery last night so I turned off the phone to let it fully charge.
Woke up this morning to a green "fully charged" indicator.
So I looked into this further and found the problem. In case it may help someone in the future....
It seems as if the 12 pin extmicro usb cable that comes with the Amaze is more reliable and faster in terms of charging than the standard 5 pin micro usb that I had been using. Among other things, micro usb connectors are not long enough for a reliable connection (depending on the case and how the phone was positioned, my battery could actually deplete overnight using the 5 pin). I don't think this in itself was the problem, but it wasn't helping.
I'd also seen reference to the installed version of Recovery having an affect on charging. I had CWM 5026. As soon as I installed 4EXT 1005RC4 the led behaviour was as nguyendqh had described.
That's because the CWM version you had probably or most likely didn't support power off charging.
Two really good finds bro thanks for linking to the threads by the way. Very helpful.
I didn't think to mention which cable I used because I didn't know it made a difference, but indeed I do use the extMicroUSB cable to charge my phone.
Glad to know there's a difference and glad to know I'm using the best option.
Cheers!

I'm not sure that I've seen it fail to charge. But I have seen some oddities with each CM10 ROM I tried.
What I do is plug it in while the tab is asleep (The LED is usually green). Normally the tablet will wake and the LED will turn amber. Then I press the power button to put it back to sleep.
I say "normally" because with one ROM it doesn't wake when I connect the charger.
By "oddities" I mean I think the battery stats are getting wacked, but I haven't been able to isolate it, yet.

While the power is on with mine, the charging light is green no matter how low the battery.
When I turn off the power the light turns orange & the battery charges.
My nook tablet also will not charger after a completely clean install of the 12/10 ROM. It shows that it's charging, and the cable is orange, but it doesn't actually do anything unless I power it down completely after plugging it in. Also, the n button doesn't take me to the screen set as default home screen, but to screen 1 instead, all the way over to the left, but installed app icons are installed to the correct screen.
The no charging thing is a big deal for me. It makes this ROM basically useless since I can't use it while it's charging. That means you can forget about heavy use. Everything else about it is awesome but once it's dead I'm stuck reading books on my phone while I wait hours for it to recharge.
Update:
Not sure what caused it, but last night I accidentally shut my nook tablet down before plugging it in, which made it come back on, then I shut it down again. Since waking it this morning, it is plugging in and charging as intended. No idea why, but it does indeed seem to be working fine now, other than the previously mentioned home screen issue.
Try a new cable.

Between my kids and me totaling two cables already. I ended up duct taping around the 3rd cable so that it would fill the gap between the surface of the table and plug which made it more solid. I cut of square so to see the nook charging led. I would try plugin in from in store cable or someone else that has a nook if it would eliminate that as a possibility.

i am having a similar issue, but my cable's led is always green no matter if the tablet is on or off. already tried a different cable and the same issue. also tried a different ac adapter, still the same thing. i wonder why.... any ideas?
UPDATE: tablet does charge just fine when it is off, however the LED is still green while the tablet is off. Weird... hard to say if its software or hardware issue now...
