I just tried to install the latest ICS alpha version for my xperia neo. Everything went fine and it said everything flashed okey, but now its just coming up with the "Sony Ericsson" text and then restarts itself over and over. Anyone have any ideas of what to do?
edit 1: Maybe i should try to redo it? i can still access cwm.
edit 2: Just redid the whole installing procedure and got the same results.
edit 3: Gave up for the moment as i need the phone working tonight so i chose to install the NEO SE.TWEAKED 0.8.5 and now i get stuck on the "Sony Ericsson" logo/text. Really have no clue of what to do now.
edit 4: cannot access cwm recovery anymore. This doesn't feel so good anymore. Anyone have an idea of how get anything working?
edit 5: I can get into the fastboot mode, can i do something from this?
edit 6: Restored to my backup via fastboot for now. We'll see if i dare trying out something new later/tomorrow or not.
Probably you don't read install instructions carefully and missed something. Etc...right kernel flashing..
Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk
I met all the requirements, unlocked the bl, installed cwm and got fastboot working.
I then booted both boot.img and after that recovery img. got into the 4.0.0.5 (or something like that) recovery and there i flash first rom then fixes then gapps.
I don't see what i missed. I had stock kernel and it didn't say anything about changing the kernel from what i could see.
But i probably missed something somwehere i guess, do you have any idea of what?

Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot boot recovery.img
That's all no google aps that was for v1 honest don't wast your time it's point less unless you have ark

Thanks for the help guys!
I was at stock kernel, problem was i didn't flash the boot.img, i only booted it. Guess i could do it now then but if you say it's not worth it to get ics yet then i will wait.
Great work btw really impressed with what you people do even if i didn't get it to work yesterday (my fault obviously not yours)
Would you recommend flashing either cm7/se tweaked 0.8.5? or is it not such a big difference? On my old zte blade the difference was huge when flashing cm7 instead of stock rom but as the neo is pretty good to begin with maybe its not that big of a deal.
I tried installing se tweaked 0.85 again but i got stuck on boot logo again. I'm on everything stock as i restored it all yesterday (except unlocked bl and cwm). Do i need another kernel or something for this?

you need doom 9 kernel or inteks kernel tats all mate for little things to work stock is just stock !! hope you get sorted soon an just see what tweaked roms n miui n cm roms have to offer
awesome i'll go ahead and try the intek kernel right now then! big thanks!
edit: no problem with flashing inteks kernel, booted up as it should with stock rom. tried to flash se tweaked 0.85 again, and yet again i got stuck on boot logo (now the intek one of course). I just can't figure out what i'm doing wrong.
here's what i did:
start in cwm mode 5.0.0.27 or something like that.
wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache.
flash se tweaked 0.85, flash kormatoes ics theme.
reboot system, stuck on logo and waited for at least 7-8 mins.
edit 2: right now i'm downloading the rom again, maybe it's a corrupt download or something.
edit 3: Got miui running now so i guess i'll try that for a bit now, would really like to get se tweaked going though!
edit 4: Could have been a corrupt download, did everything just like before and now i got se tweaked 0.8.5 running!

The problem is the theme you're trying to install from kormatoes, it creates bootloops. Install SE.Tweaked 8.5 without the theme but, just so you know, SE.Tweaked theme is ugly. But works correctly, oh yeah and it's not a rooted ROM, which is kinda weird..

And you are thanks for the head up but u know nothing at all or even why it gives boot loops
The fact its for different Rom and you don't lissen or read posts. And if you knew anything about root
And not to use stock kernel for se-tweaked Rom only use doom
And the reason it's themed like that is because of people like you complaining about heavy themeng
Ps ics lockscreen n theme
over 500 dl from just v 1

Hey guys maybe some budy can help, I can go into recovery and wipe data, cache etc.. but for some reason I can't run any rom that runs with sence they all get stuck at boot screen, the phone freezes,.. but I can intall miui through fastboot and everything runs ok, rom boots it doesn't get stuch what's happening, by the way I unrooted the phone the HTC way so I'm on 1.5..
You need to reinstall a different kernel through fastboot usb. If miui works then a sense rom won't until you flash compatible kernel.

Similar problem being stuck in boot screen
I am on twrp shooter 2.0 with hboot 1.5 and I was running syncombelite when I tried to in stall the CM9 Alpha build and I was not having luck with loading the rom through recovery so I tried to use Flash image GUI. It loaded the image but after it was done it would not boot. I was stuck on the HTC boot screen. I tried to do a nandroid recovery and the same thing over and over. I figured maybe try a different rom so I tried a couple.. I used one and it actually made it past the boot screen and loaded the Beats audio logo then was stuck there for maybe 30 minutes before I tried a reboot and the same thing. Then I though I wll do a superwipe so I downloaded the synergy superwipe along with the
fresh-evo-3d-4.2.0 then it made it past the HTC boot and just went black for another 30 minutes. Now I am at a loss. Please help me...
Dale if your reading this I am the guy you helped a while back with the Toshiba thrive..maybe a month ago then I made a generous donation. I am happy to pay someone for their time. Please help..I need my phone. Thanks all.

The recovery you use shouldn't matter. I have used CWM touch and non and TWRP all the same as long as it works for you. The easy way to flash CM9 is to use FlashImageGUI.apk before you wipe your current rom. Do not wipe ROM before using FlashGUI as it needs a OS to run on.
First flash recovery, whichever you want. If you don't already have one.
Put CM9 on sd
Flash boot.img from CM9.zip with Flash...GUI.apk (browse to CW9 on sd card)
Boot recovery, Flash rom from there.
(Flash..GUI should ask if you want to boot recovery after flash)
I used TWRP to flash CM9 tonight so I know it works 100%
I have tried that and I get stuck at HTC boot screen. I'm at a loss. I finally got virus eternity to flash using fastboot on my pc. I then tried ics (yes I know that's not what we were talking about) but I can't flash many different Roms lately. It's just weird. Hello guys im currently running on 4.0 ics passion v7.. i wanted to go back to cyanogenmod stable but the problem is im getting error when flashing the rom on cwm .. i decided to odin back , the problem is in odin under ID COMP it says comp 3 instead of comp 5 , i guess i have wrong driver , my question is can i still continue to odin it even tho its in comp3 n not comp 5?
You mean COM 3, COM 5? It doesn't matter, as long as it's yellow and it reads your phone.
But, you don't have to flash back to stock to go back to CM7 from ICS Passion.
Do this;
1. Download a CM7 Kernel. (EB-Steamline)
2. Flash it via CWM.
3. Reboot your phone.
4. It'll get stuck at the EB-Production screen.
5. Pull battery, and use the three button combo to go to recovery.
6. Flash CM7 ROM.
7. Enjoy.
Thanx bro will try it now !
Alright, let me know how it goes. c:

I dont even need to reboot or pull battery. I just reboot recovery from within recovery and it reboots into the new recovery for me. Or at least it has been anyway.
Im on ics v8 and im very cautious about switching roms because long time ago in my n00b days i hardbricked a phone and completely destroyed the crap outa it
Q. On ics v8 and love it but getting tired of fc's and incoming call glitches. I came to ics from cm7 from bionix. I believe the cwm version for ics and cwm is the same.
Can i simply just reboot into recovery and then wipe/reset and install cm7?
Thanks

I tried this last night, and because of the Clockwork mismatch I got a bootloop. So just flash a CM7 kernel first like EB Streamline, and then flash CM7. Or flash CM7 twice... Makes sense? EDIT: And yes, wipe and what not... I use the kernel cleaning script as well.
Okay thanks.
Im gonna just stick to ics v8 for now...going back to gingerbread is killing me inside....

in order to do that with that version of hboot... you need to go into the zip file and manually extract the boot.img file and put it i n your fastboot and adb folder then boot into hboot and then open a terminal or ms dos screen and go to that directory then type in
fastboot flash boot boot.img...... make sure you atleast have your phone rooted and unlocked

New problem
Ok, so I booted the rom, signed in, then rebooted into recovery to flash HoneySense. I did so, then wiped the cache and dalvik cache and rebooted. Bam. Stuck at the incredibly annoying boot splash again. How to fix?
Restore a nand. Then flash the honeysense theme, but don't wipe cache and davlik cache this time. Also is the theme compatible with the rom your running ??
Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
It should be - I'm running Z3RD 1.6 and he reccomends HoneySense on the thread - even has screen shots of it running
Try what I suggested in the above post and see by chance will it help any. Also what kernel are you running ??
Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
I did...no dice. And I'm running the stock kernel that came with the rom.
Hummm ?? Try this redownload the Rom and theme and flash them like this.
Wipe cache,davlik-cache, & data.
Flash Rom
Flash theme
Reboot.
Try that to see if it might help.
Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
Still no luck...I guess I'll just have to wait until 1.7 :/
Puzzled are you dl the Rom and theme from your phone ??
Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
No, I download them on my laptop then send them to my phone with the SD card mounted as a disk drive
Try with your phone maybe your getting a bad dl. Also have you tried a earlier version of the Rom to rule the Rom out as the issue ??
Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
I think I'm just going to give up on it for now...I'm way too tired lol
Lmao I understand, I'm working a double trying to stay awake Lol if you decide to give it a go later just post.
Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
Will do, I appreciate the help - and good luck lol

What steps did you take exactly to get it all on your phone...
Without that information we're as clueless as you are...
PS: Sorry, i didn't notice your edit of your previous post... You've got the X10 Mini without the keyboard?
Did you wipe the battery stats and dalvik cache from the advanced menu in CWM too? By the way: there is no need to wipe or format your sd-card normally, the data on the sd-card won't affect the working of the rom.

Yeh, reboot into CWM after you've installed everything and do all wipes again... Doing all the wipes ( data/factory reset, cache, dalvik-cache and battery-stats) after you've installed the rom seems to work better than doing it beforehand, especially the dalvik-cache is important, because it holds the pre-compiled data for the apps on the phone to speed up execution, different versions of the same apps will have different contents in the dalvik-cache, which will stop them from executing properly.

Did you find any solution for your problem?
The same is happening to me.
hey guys, id like to preface this by saying im VERY new to sony devices, but not new to custom roms and rooting in general.
im currently running pacrom 4.3, but there is an app i want to use that just wont work with it. so i want to go back to stock. i made a nand before i flashed pac, and figured i could just restore back to my stock rooted .290. but when i do the restore, the phone will not boot. i have tried everything... i do remember having to flash a special boot img in order to get pac to work, and im curious if i have to do something similar to go back? i have searched high and low and followed many guides and instructions but sony development seems incredibly confusing compared to samsung and htc...
any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Does it restore the backup without any errors, or are you getting an error before it completes?

Flash a boot.img in recovery from one of the stock roms (DoggRom etc) or flash the bootbundle & kernel from a .290 ftf. That should sort it.

i appreciate the tip. i downloaded the Dogg rom, as the monx rom didnt have a boot img. i used quikimg to load it just like i did when going to pacrom. no errors, everything worked fine. but when i went to start the device to put it into recovery, it would vibrate once, and nothing else.
then i tried using flashtool to flash the bootbundle and kernel from a .290, same thing. no errors, smooth sailing, until i try to boot. one vibration, then nothing.
i guess im just doomed to stay on pacrom. couldnt have chosen a better rom to be stuck on though XD

You could try a full flash of .290 then flash boot.img from doggrom to get recovery then restore the backup???
When ever flashing .290 start with a full battery
Hello,
For me from GPe ROM and PAC before:
Flash 290 Sony, the one before 5xx and to finish boot.img from PAC, flash PAC, boot PAC.
RESTORE PAC! :good:
Thank you everyone for the help. I was able to do some SERIOUS troubleshooting and got the app working through trial and error. I no longer need to go back to stock, I can stay on my beautiful pac!
