Open fastboot.exe from command prompt in windows
Sent via XDA Premium on Dell Streak

fastboot isn't a typical windows program. It's a command line tool. You would open a command prompt and type in the command as such:
fastboot.exe -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
The above example is to flash a file named recovery.img to the recovery partition.
Be very careful with fastboot. It's about the only way to brick this phone.

[Q] Fastbboot

When I go to fastboot mode, I can't use it. I type fastboot devices but I get blank screen.q I install drivers and I can use adb from WinXP and Linux.
What to do?
Thank's in advince
Use the latest fastboot binary from the android sdk (linux). On windows you might need some driver hack that is floating around here somewhere.
€: For windows: If adb is working you should also be fine eith a recent fastboot binary.
I installed drivers and downloaded lastest sdk(you have it in first post).

I was messing about with the same thing. When you type fastboot devices it can give strange answers. Mine came up with: ? fastboot. When i typed fastboot devices. So i kept looking and uninstalling and installing and always the same answer. So i tryed to send some commands to the folio and Viola! it was connected. But if it dont answer you just have to follow this guide on setting up ADB and Fastboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915894 Good luck
If I understood,I must install drivers when I'm in fastboot mode?

It is the same driver/udev rule that adb uses, so if adb works, fastboot should also.

[Q] Help me on fastbooting :(

I've downloaded all the things that im supposed to download. There's recovery image (for froyo 322) and update for froyo 322 and the fastboot file.
Firstly, i made my dell streak onto Fastboot mode.
Then i connected it and it said "Fastboot_Mode"
After that i open Command Prompt and open fastboot.exe which was located in fastboot file
But, when i type "fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery (my recovery image file name)" it says "fastboot is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable programme or batch file"
Im on windows 7 home basic. Someone please help me. My phone's still in fastboot mode till now
You need to make sure you change the directory of the command prompt to the folder your fastboot.exe is in. Then use fastboot.exe instead of just fastboot in the command

[Q] How can two computers both be wrong in different ways? (fastboot issue)

So I go into fastboot mode on the phone, everything is fine. I try to use a windows 7 laptop that has the android sdk and the dell toolkit, change the driver to the bootloader driver, and it just sits there and says waiting for device.
my old windows xp laptop, i fired it up (and remembered why i upgraded), and loaded the dell software, and the android sdk, and it doesn't have the bootloader driver as a choice. I can choose the standard driver, or composite. Both are less than successfull using fastboot, it just sits there and waits for the device.
What am I doing wrong? Aside from using windows.
I have yet to look into osx options for updating things, should I cut my losses and pull my macbook pro out?
Go to dell download latest drivers, cleared up all my problems, on Win 7 64 bit.
Have you tried typing -i 0x413c after fastboot. Download the multi recovery flasher put whatever you want to flash in the folder it creates then navigate to it in cmd. It has all the right drivers. Good luck.

Everything was the latest versions available, 32 bit windows 7.
Solved my problem, found fastboot-mac, simple chmod to the correct permissions and the exact terminal command was 6 characters different than what I was trying in windows.
"./fastboot-mac -i 0x413c dsp1 dsp1.mbn" versus
"fastboot -i 0x413c dsp1 dsp1.mbn"

[Q] Fastboot Loader app not working on a PC?

Is there anyone else out there with some problem? my phone goes into fastboot no problem but the PC is not allowing me to run the fastboot.exe
i tried downloading it from multiple sources and on windows 7 x64, mac os x snow leopard, windows vista x32
tried running it in compability mode under windows xp, etc... nothing..
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
You must run it from a command prompt, like ADB.
You would cd to the directory it's in. Mine looks like cd C:\android
Then you would type in something like fastboot oem unlock

[Q] Twrp flashing help

I have recently been interested in wanting to install a ubuntu onto my tablet, so i am installing twrp first, i have downloaded the android SDK files and have extracted them with adb and fastboot into my c: drive, i have also unlocked my device by using the Asus unlock tool, i then when into the i believe its called bootmenu where you can choose between usb, rck, coldboot, ect and downloaded the fastboot driver into my usb 3.0 after that i flashed twrp using "fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery twrp.blob" in cmd everything went well the blue bar loaded, the cmd said it finished.
Now this is where the problem starts when i enter RCK (recovery mode) it just freezes there like the fastboot, the icon stops flashing and text appears saying "booting recovery image kernel" but nothing happens. To my knowledge and the guide i am following it should boot to twrp if im not mistaken.
I am using windows 7 for my pc and have updated my tablet to 4.1.1, i have also check the Md5 codes. I am also following this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2038464).
If anyone could help out someone trying to get into roms for andriod that would be awesome thank you.
