This morning, I had my SGS2 working as normal, running Oxygen 2.3.2 (GB 2.3.7 AOSP).
I tried later on to flash the new CM9 ICS alpha for SGS2, And while it worked for a bit, after a while the phone stopped detecting my SIM.
Restoring my Oxygen NANDroid backup didn't help, nor did flashing new PDA/Phone/CSC via Odin to an official version.
Baseband and IMEI both appear normally in the settings/about screen.
I'd love any suggestion to make this issue clearer or how to solve it.
Thanks in advance.
Try taking it out, blowing it off and putting it back in

Same above, once I had the same problem and re-inserting the sim card solved it.

I had the same problem. I went to the operator and exchanged the chip. Now it works perfectly.
Yeah, took it out with the battery and tried reinserting, didn't do much.
Funny to think the SIM might have gone corrupt, but who knows.
Update:
Last night, Asked a friend to switch SIM between our devices. His SIM worked on my device straight, Mine wasn't detected on his.
Went today to Orange IL and replaced the SIM, worked like a treat.
So it was the SIM in the end, Not sure how it got messed up.
Thanks for the advice from everyone!

I'm not used to make threads with "HELP!" But i waited for this phone sooo long and when i finally got it and flashed it got messed up :/
Well, I live in Mexico, Phone company Telcel.
I had KE4 Buildnumber as stock. then i decided to install KE7 Official rom i downloaded from some website named gadget w/e. When i flashed it with odin (I only used the KE7.tar no Kernel or anything) it rebooted n everything was going ok, but when i turned on my phone i wasn't getting signal anymore .. and i keep getting "Sorry! The process com.android.phone has stopped working unexpectedly. Please try again"
I flashed my phone with KE8 to see if it would work and used CF-Root v4.0 KE8 Kernel and im still having this problem, i have no signal, and if i try to go to Mobile Network settings it says "SIM NOT FOUND" in my app Drawer it says "Telcel GSM" it recognizes im using a Telcel SIM i guess .. and after a while of force closing com.android.phone it doesnt say Telcel GSM anymore.
Sorry for the long thread i just wanted to give as much info as i could. Some help would be GREAT because i just got my phone 3 days ago :/ the battery life was RLY lame i had to upgrade it, Thanks anyway!
Edit: Phone info now
Baseband version i9100DDKE2
Kernel Version [email protected] #2
Buildnumber GINGERBREAD.XWKE8
No1 knows how can i get signal again???
what is your device's country code, when connected to kies (behind pda phone csc in the brackets)?
yesterday, many regions received the kf3 update. maybe that will fix your issue. also, when it comes to sim issues, a factory reset might help and the cross test:
test that sim card in another phone and test another sim card in your sgs2, that way you can determine whether the issue is caused by the card or the phone.
Issue fixed.
How did you fix it?

Could someone share the solution_??? my customer is asking why she is unable to work with telcel again...
hi everyone. for the first time since i joined xda a year ago i feel helpless
it started couple days ago when my girlfriend told me she couldn't get in touch with me cuz my phones turned off. of course, my x10 was turned on and it said i have signal and i'm on my network (rogers). at the time i was on wolfbreak rom 4.0.4 cutom kernel version and it was working fine for a week or so.
then my phone was able to call out but couldn't receive. then it couldn't call out and couldn't receive. but the status bar said i have full bars.
thinking it could be the rom, i flashed tripmiui rom over it. same thing. it said i was on rogers network and 50% chance i could call out but calls wouldn't come through; service busy. then i tried ewjet rom and the new miui 1.9.2 rom as well. so i went back stock
when i did, lockscreen said i emergency call only even though my sim card was in. status bar showing i have bars but still couldn't connect to rogers network. sometimes it would find it sometimes not. so i keep the stock rom and since i don't have money right now to get it fixed or replace, i decided to root, install custom rom and use it as a wifi/portable media device.
while i was trying to root this shows up on flashtool;

got this little problem fixed with advanced root but i was wondering if anyone knows what is happening to my x10?? if theres any fix??
update: now i'm on ewjet's rom and i tried the sim card again. i get data and dialed out success 1 out of 3 calls and still no calls can come through - "the number you are trying to dial is not in service"
Try a different sim card to see if that's the problem.

I have the same problem which rom worked for u let me know please.
It wasn't a particular rom that fixed it. I just flashed and flashed stock generic ROM and eclair stock ROM. Altogether I flashed about 10 times and finally got a signal on eclair then upgraded back to gingerbread. So just keep flashing those two ROM til u get a signal;hope it works for u!
Please help, I just installed the latest build Cyanogenmod 9 on my Galaxy S3 I9300. Everything works fine except that i can't get any kind of mobile data. I can make phone calls, send and receive sms but simply there is no 3g/HSDPA connection. Not even edge. I even tried changing my modem firmware and still nothing. As you can see in the image it recognizes the network and the type but it doesn't manage to connect. Am I missing something?
Are your network settings correct ??

Get your network settings manually from your provider

There seems to be a weird issue with my Galaxy S3.
I had installed the Omega ROM v36 (upgrading all the way from v23 i.e 24,25.. serially) without wiping the data.
The phone was working fine until a few days back. Then suddenly the phone used to hang(like old nokia phones).
I tried calling the sim number and the call was going through but wasnt getting anything. The screen just stood there.
And then i had to reset the phone (Power 8 seconds) every time it happened.
Today I wiped the data and freshly installed the ROM. The same issue still exists.
It is really irritating. and even after reset-ing the phone the phone hangs the same way!
Please help someone.
Should I go back to stock? Something else?
Please!

But the problem is since v34!
I tried installing every update.
Nothing helped!
And which SD do I need to format? internal or external?
Did you experience this screen problem before the custom rom? Lets hope its not a hardware problem.
Try formatting your internal SD. Don't think your ext SD could affect it, though eject it just in case. Return it to stock as much as possible.
My friend asked me to look at this phone that was softbricked and kept going to CWM recovery everytime it was booted. I updated the CWM to the latest touch version via ODIN then formatted the phone clean. :good: Then I flashed 4.3.1 stable AOKP ROM and the GApps. It was fine, everything else was working. I connected the wi-fi, used bluetooth, signed into google account everything was normal and stable.:highfive: But then I tried calling and it said "no mobile network". Tried sending a text, could not. I went in and searched for network signals then registered to the correct(I AM SURE!) one.:silly: Still no luck. Then I let it choose automatically. Nothing. Then I thought maybe installing another ROM will somehow fix it and flashed CyanogenMod 10.2 stable. Still no luck. I searched around for a flashable radio but could not decide if that would fix it because as far as I am aware if the radio wasn't working no wireless connectivity should've been either.
The phone is Samsung Galaxy S III GTI9300 white 16GB (unlocked) and has been here in Nepal with Nepal Telecom Sim since it was bought. I have no Idea how the soft brick happened but I think this guy tried to manually update the phone with a stock firmware during which some **** must've happened.
Can you guys please let me know if this could be fixed?
Any help would be highly appreciated.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
