Please help, I just installed the latest build Cyanogenmod 9 on my Galaxy S3 I9300. Everything works fine except that i can't get any kind of mobile data. I can make phone calls, send and receive sms but simply there is no 3g/HSDPA connection. Not even edge. I even tried changing my modem firmware and still nothing. As you can see in the image it recognizes the network and the type but it doesn't manage to connect. Am I missing something?
Are your network settings correct ??

Just wondering I have the above phone, and ever since I bought it, I cant seem to configure my personal hotspot SSID and passcode, without it defaulting back to AndroidAP and default passcode
I enter in my desired SSID and passode, click save, and if I go to conect on laptop it will come up ok, but only that one time. If I literally go straight back into the configuration of wifi hotspot, it has defaulted back to AndroidAP
Very frustrating indeed!
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

wow so no one has seen this issue before?
BUMP
Yes my s2 won't save, either. i tried with root explorer and in try to change etc/wifi and data/misc/wifi folders to read/write but i can't
OK so its not just my phone. Anyone got a known solution to this problem? I just updated to a new firmware and still the same issue.
Galaxy S2 not saving Wifi Hotspot config?
Hi, I just had this issue on my new phone. Most frustrating having to re-enter details, then a mate said have you ever cold loaded the machine after it's first boot up after purchase?
Powered the SII right off & re-started and the config now saves perfectly!
The S2 came with 2.3.5 from factory and i was able to change the wifi hotspot name, but since i rooted i started to have this issue too, i also tried upgrading to 2.3.6 original firmware and no luck, anyone have an idea to solve this?
Regards
*FIXED*
Just rebooted the phone with CWM app in recovery mode and applied "fix permissions" from the advanced menu, rebooted normally and i was able to change my SSID and password without a problem!
Hope this works for other users too
It didn't work for me, I'm on 2.3.5 too
Has anyone at Vodafone got a solution to this? I updated to 2.3.5 and my phone will NOT save the SSID and password either.
Same issue for me, everytime I find a new generated password. I'm starting to think that is not a bug but is meant to work this way...

That worked for me. Thanks.
This morning, I had my SGS2 working as normal, running Oxygen 2.3.2 (GB 2.3.7 AOSP).
I tried later on to flash the new CM9 ICS alpha for SGS2, And while it worked for a bit, after a while the phone stopped detecting my SIM.
Restoring my Oxygen NANDroid backup didn't help, nor did flashing new PDA/Phone/CSC via Odin to an official version.
Baseband and IMEI both appear normally in the settings/about screen.
I'd love any suggestion to make this issue clearer or how to solve it.
Thanks in advance.
Try taking it out, blowing it off and putting it back in

Same above, once I had the same problem and re-inserting the sim card solved it.

I had the same problem. I went to the operator and exchanged the chip. Now it works perfectly.
Yeah, took it out with the battery and tried reinserting, didn't do much.
Funny to think the SIM might have gone corrupt, but who knows.
Update:
Last night, Asked a friend to switch SIM between our devices. His SIM worked on my device straight, Mine wasn't detected on his.
Went today to Orange IL and replaced the SIM, worked like a treat.
So it was the SIM in the end, Not sure how it got messed up.
Thanks for the advice from everyone!
This can be locked/deleted.

hi guys, just about 2 days ago i rooted my phone. problem is after rooting my phone can't seem to get a 3G signal anymore. only GPRS which is so slow! need help tried reflashing with a stock ICS ROM and still no go.
EDIT: here are the things i did before i noticed the disappearance of 3G
1. downloaded recovery and kernel from tegrak's website.
2. booted into download mode and flashed the recovery.tar file
3. booted to recovery mode and flashed the .zip file
4. installed Tegrak Kernel & Superuser from Play Store
*this is when i noticed that i can only get GPRS/1x signal
what i did after was kept flashing a stock ICS ROM. nothing happened to fix the 3G problem.
searched the forums and none of the method works. tried reflashing stock ROM still a no go.

already did sir, still no 3G signal. i'm 200% sure my area has 3G.. it even reaches 3.5G on my other phones.
okay.. just noticed minutes ago that my other phones are getting up to 4G signals too. and my Galaxy Note can't even get to 4G? its really stuck at GRPS speeds. the root must've messed up something because this is my 3rd reflash of a stock ICS ROM and still stuck with a G signal when data network is turned on.
EDIT: been lurking around xda-developers forums now, even tried other websites... is it possible that a kernel flash could change the radio of the device? reflashing for the 5th time did not do anything for me. after 5 tries (i know, that's too many to figure it out that it doesn't work), i've given up. if anyone has a solution to this problem please message me.
ok guys after a few days of testing. i finally figured it out.
for some very odd reason, this particular sim of mine says "network type: GPRS"
i tried different sim cards of the same carrier (i repeat, the same carriers) and it says "network type: UMTS"
even tried different sim cards from other networks and it says "network type: HSDPA"
so that is very odd. did flashing ruin something on this simcard? i can't really pin point?
anyway for me this problem is solved. i'm getting another sim card hehe. hello again 3G/4G!
EDIT: I FOUND A SOLUTION! its not the simcard, its the band setting! i just switched from GSM to WCDMA and it worked for that sim! there is a secret SKT Telecom menu for the Korean android phones that lets you change the band.ü
Hello guys,
I have a severe problem with my SGS2.
I was using it as always when suddenly my signal strenght dropped down to 1 bar and since then it's changing between 1 bar and "no service".
I have been running on CM10 Nightly 20120910, thus I thought I'd try another modem. Flashed XXLQ6, nothing changed.
Then I flashed the 20120908 nightly - no change
flashed CM9.1 with XXLX/XXLW modem - no change
reflashed CWM Kernel - no change
I tried using another Sim-Card which operates in another network - no change, still only 4% signal strenght (looked up using Network Signal Info)
The I tried using my current Sim-Card in another mobile phone, and there it worked flawlessly.
WLAN is still working, but no GSM/UMTS. Even if I have 2 connection bars for some seconds, I still have no internet connection via UMTS during that time.
Anybody got an idea?

I'm facing the same issue. Did you solve it?
If it happened suddenly and the problem persists in other phones, than it's your network operator cell.

The problem doesn't persist in other phone. I've tried the SIM in two other phones and it works perfectly.
Also tried another SIM(which works on some other phone) but don't work on mine.

Hi!
Since you are new here, it may be the best time for you to read the forum rules not that you've done something wrong but just to inform you about it
Here's the list of modem that you can flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950, it comes along with a guide..
Since everything you mentioned failed, i suggest you flash back to stock firmware and do a factory reset it might just do the job..
i hope this helped you, cheers!

Restored by original EFS, no luck. Fixed RW of EFS folder. No luck. Still the same issue.
Please help.

Sorry I didn't read
If you've already full wipe'd your phone and then installed a stock firmware and the issue doesn't solve yet, it may be a hardware-related problem, also because you said that another SIM, working on other phones, doesn't work on your S2.
Try another full wipe and install a different firmware, and if still not, I don't know...

My friend asked me to look at this phone that was softbricked and kept going to CWM recovery everytime it was booted. I updated the CWM to the latest touch version via ODIN then formatted the phone clean. :good: Then I flashed 4.3.1 stable AOKP ROM and the GApps. It was fine, everything else was working. I connected the wi-fi, used bluetooth, signed into google account everything was normal and stable.:highfive: But then I tried calling and it said "no mobile network". Tried sending a text, could not. I went in and searched for network signals then registered to the correct(I AM SURE!) one.:silly: Still no luck. Then I let it choose automatically. Nothing. Then I thought maybe installing another ROM will somehow fix it and flashed CyanogenMod 10.2 stable. Still no luck. I searched around for a flashable radio but could not decide if that would fix it because as far as I am aware if the radio wasn't working no wireless connectivity should've been either.
The phone is Samsung Galaxy S III GTI9300 white 16GB (unlocked) and has been here in Nepal with Nepal Telecom Sim since it was bought. I have no Idea how the soft brick happened but I think this guy tried to manually update the phone with a stock firmware during which some **** must've happened.
Can you guys please let me know if this could be fixed?
Any help would be highly appreciated.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
