I have tried to flash my phone but have had no success due to the problems with Windows 7. While going through the flashing process, the battery died. Unlike the Samsung Captivate, the phone will not charge (not as a fact, only as I have noticed) unless it is "on". Therefore I am unable to continue the flashing process since I get the message: "Failed to boot 4
Starting RSD mode
Battery is too low to flash"
So my first question is: How do I charge the battery if I can't get the phone to boot?
My second question is: Can anybody help me unbrick the Atrix using Windows 7 IF I can get the battery charged?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I would rather send a donation to an xda helper than have to pay Motorola to get this phone working again.

Is it an actual brick or soft brick? What is the win7 problem your referring to? Please explain and maybe I could help?
I think you may have to get a development USB cable that actually powers the unit while flashing, I may be wrong but you can make the cable. I stand to be corrected.
I don't get it could't they just pull the battery to stop the boot loop then plug it into a wall charger? shouldnt that charge it?!

Just plug the phone to the charger, that's how u charge a battery.Phone does not need to boot up in order to charge.

Did this on my phone once, I just took my battery down to best buy and asked one of the guys to charge it in the demo unit. Went and got lunch and came back.
As stated the only way to charge it at this point is with a Dev cable
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
If you connect directly the red wire of an usb cable where the battery connects to phone, phone will think is fully charged.off course the battery must be in its place correctly inserted.
Worked with milestone and atrix, did it myself
I exchanged batteries at the at&t store. I downloaded the latest version of rsd lite and this time it it ran through the flashing process and PASSED. However, when the Atrix tries to reboot, the same thing happens:
Failed to boot 4
starting RSD mode
If I am having successful flashing, what do I do now? PLEASE HELP!!
Thanks for your replies.
Your problems aren't with Windows 7.
Was your battery charged fully when you flashed?
What sbf are you trying to flash?
Your symptoms sound like those of a flash with the wrong sbf for your phone model.
Yea if you have a buddy or go to the store you could swap them batteries if they go for it.

I flashed this sbf,
OLYFR_U4_1.2.6_SIGNED_OLPSATTSPE_P012_HWolympus_1g_1FF.sbf
and this one.
OLYFR_U4_1.8.3_SIGNED_OLPSATTSPE_P013_HWolympus_1g_Service1FF.sbf
Both had the same results, both flashed successfully, both stated that they passed the flashing process, and both times I still get the "failed to boot 4" error message.
4.1.26 should flash fine. The 4.1.83 you have there is a service sbf. Need to get 4.1.57 on there before flashing that. When you are able to I would flash the 4.1.57 sbf, then OTA to 4.1.83. No need to do 4.1.26.
Beamed in from WinBorg 4G via XDA Premium app
Just flash the 1.5.7 sbf and bring the phone to att for warranty.

I've flashed from 1.26 to 1.83 with no issues several times with the service SBF. The "service" part just means it's not wiping /data.
The 1.26 SBF is a good starting point. The error you're getting is because the signature check is failing on the device. Where did you get the phone from?
I bought the phone from the at&t store. The problem started when my son pulled the usb cable from the computer while it was in the flashing process! (a serious no no). The good news is that I called Motorola about the issue and explained that the phone is rooted. I told them that I read in numerous forums (including Motorola's forums) that rooted phones would not be covered by the warranty. He put me on hold and checked with his supervisor then told me that they would not charge me for the repair! (thank GOD!) So my Atrix is on its way back to Motorola as I type.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help, these forums are great!
Also, I think Caelan T is right, the problem is not with Windows 7. A lot of people complained about the "grayed out" start button. None of this was a problem with the latest version of the RSDlite program from Motorola. It loaded the sbf file from the directory just fine. I did not need to change the file name, move it to the C: drive, or use the drag and drop method to make it start. So anyone with the grayed out start button problem, you need to search for the latest version. The "check for update" did not detect the newest version for me, I had to search elsewhere.

When I get the phone back, I figured I would have the latest version without root. Won't I need to flash 1.26 to start the Gladroot process all over again?

I Googled it but nothing in particular came up...
Same problem here.
If i left the atrix plugged to the charger wont charge the battery?
Thanks
the cable that comes with the atrix supplies power as it is used to charge the phone. i just soft bricked my phone and it eventually gave me the low battery message can't flash i began to panic and jumped on xda to look for help and i read that it doesn't charge while it is in this state, i pulled out the battery to turn it off since the computer was keeping it on. then put the battery back in i and plugged it in to the computer and it started to charge but didn't turn on its acting like its charging the green light is on but the phone isn't turning on I'm guessing its because i am running vmware and i set it to ask what os to use when i plug it in i didn't pick an option just left the window open and it looks like its charging... I'm praying that it really is charging ill keep you guys posted it if works

Is this revivable? Should I risk purchasing a paperweight? He's selling it for a good price, but not so good as to be able to resell it on eBay for parts without losing money.

Oh, sorry didn't read it. It just has low battery is all, I'd buy it! RSD just requires a decent amount of battery life before you use it.
Serious?? You just got me really excited.
Can anyone else kindly chime in? Guys asking 245, might try to get it for 200.
I wouldn't buy it. The phone says that as a precaution when its bricked. It doesn't want you flashing with a battery inside it. It wants a dev cable. Its hard bricked. If you're up to making a dev cable and attempting to revive it, go for it.

What's a dev cable?
I wouldn't waste your time with 200 bucks don't mean to sound rude but if you don't know what a dev cable is your probably nit gonna unbrick it.
A dev cable allows you to flash your phone with out a battery.
2nd like the above guy said if its hard bricked you might wanna just leave it alone before you waste 200 bucks.

I don't know what a dev cable is because I've never used one. I'm sure I could learn. Fixed a "bricked" g2 by replacing the LCD...so I'm sure I can handle this.
But he just messaged me after I got him to confirm it charges that he fixed the phone...and I'm assuming with my genius help that he has to charge the phone to fix it.
He buys broken phones, fixes them, and resells them I think based on his email address.
Dev cables aren't hard to make just need care and time. Read under dev section
there is guide.
Please remember IF 2 wire touch that aren't suppose to you will short your computer out so test wires for continuity.
This is a handy cable I have one that's all i use for flashing. Alot safer than a battery.
This happened to my phone once upon a time. I was able to pull the battery and get into "charge mode" and charge it from the wall and do a re-flash. I've also read posts on here where even replacing the battery with a fresh won't fix it. Probably depends on the application... it would be a gamble.
the phone is softbricked not hardbrick, it happens when you flash a sbf and downgrade, in rsd mode the phone doesent wipe anything, it just flash over the old files and leave them intact inside, you need to flash the same sbf that you flashed or flash a new version more updatede than the one you have, i revived a "hardbriked" atrix 4g i flashed 2.3.4 the one that was leaked whit the unlocked bootloader and by some stupid i whas i revert it back to froyo, and at this point the rsd lite frezzez at some point 98% and no go, i unpluged the usb cable and pulled the battery out put it again and it goes to ablack screen and it says failed to boot 0x1000 and then like no where came up 14 options like rsd, fastboot, and other ones, i use volumen down to select and put it on RSD and i hit volumen up to select it and i pluged again the phone i go and run rsd lite and reflashed whit an original gingerbreaad sbf by motorola ( atrix 4g AT&T) let it to finish and my phone boot up by it self i cross fingers and it takes me right to the motoblur set up accaunt
Yes you can
I am pretty sure that you can unbrick that device because I have bricked mine and used the same method several times.
Buy the phone, and then you will have to find an ATT store with an atrix on display.
Ask the store manager's permission to swap the display battery for your own and let it charge. When it has charged to 100% (MAKE NOTE OF THIS!! VERY IMPORTANT) take the battery home and place it into your own phone.
Now, use one of the following methods to repair your device:
Rsd Lite: Most Difficult, but Safest way
This method of restoration is recommended if you wish to ever root your device in the future because rooting a 2.3.4 device, which is automatically installed by motorola software update, is dangerous and presents the risk of bricking a device PERMANATLY!
To use the RSD Lite (safe method): follow the instructions at the website address below:
briefmobile.com/motorola-atrix-4g-system-boot-file-sbf-leaked
That will install a preliminary OS onto the device, but it will be a pre-release version, and so will not automatically receieve updates. To bring you device up to date, then install the 4.1.5.7 update at the website below:
briefmobile.com/motorola-atrix-4g-1-5-7-ota-update-sbf
IMPORTANT: If you ever intend to root your device, do not update it via any AT&T downloadable (Over the Air) updates.
Easy Method:
If you do not intend to ever root your phone, or you are looking for an easy way to bring it up to date, perhaps to sell it, you use motorola software update to reinstall the OS. PLEASE NOTE: Once a device is updated to 4.1.5.91 (Gingerbread), it must never be downgraded with the RSD Lite Method mentioned above. You WILL BRICK YOU DEVICE and it will NOT be fixable. If you have any intentions of rooting your device, do not use this method. Use the RSD Lite Method.
Hi,
I don't want to spoil the party, but I had an Atrix in that state and despite flashing with rsd-lite to a known working sbf, it was still not letting me boot. Beware.
Cheers!
Hi.
I was flashing my phone back to stock gingerbread and after doing some verification and stuff my phone just went crazy.
The touchscreen clicks on everything by itself, sometimes it's so hard to unlock the pattern.
The screen is clean, nothing on it, nothing went inside the phone.
flashing back to any other ROMs wont work so im assuming that it's the hardware problem.
I was going to go to the verizon retail center and ask for the exchange but I already made an exchange from tbolt to x2, and now I'm wondering if I can get my phone exchanged for the malfunctioning.
Or any way that I can get this thing back to normal.
Thank you.
I'm sure that as long as you can reproduce the issue they won't have a problem replacing it with another X2. Just make sure you SBF before you make the exchange.
Well that's the thing.
It wont show up on rsd lite 5.3.1 with PC mode and USB debugging on.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i factory reseted by using the recovery mode. This is really annoying and driving me nuts.
As long as it's on stock firmware and SU isn't there or anything that requires root you should be okay.
Alright. Thanks for the comment!

if youre trying to sbf you have to put it on rsd mode...power off the phone hold power and volume up till it flashes and it should say ready for rsd protocol or whatever, from there plug it in to the computer and it should recognize it.

Had this happen to me one time. I accidentally flash back a nandroid of a froyo backup. I was running P3's Pre-GB at the time, phone went crazy. SBF fixed everything, I was S***ing bricks when it happened though... lol
It also happened to me too. Bit it went away after I started to mess with flashing stuff to the phone like themes. It sucked, I thought I messed something up bad haha.

I have had this happen several times when flashing. Just SBF back, wipe all data and cache and start over. It will go away! It seems it happened more when I took short cuts or flat out forgot a step, but it always went away after a clean instal. Hope that helps...
same here.... i do the sbf and a wipe (3X) and it always comes back for me
Sounds like you need an exorcism!
My wife's DInc had was also possessed. With her's it was a faulty digitizer and is a problem with many DInc.
More directly related, my DX2 does this about every day at some point. I'm running Eclipse v.6 FWIW. It seems to be a software problem as I can just turn off the screen and it goes away.
This happens to me on my DX2 with some ROMs but only when the phone is plugged in to the charger or the USB cable... Unplug it and it goes away... Really random... I have thought about taking it in but cant remember if it does it on stock unrooted or not... Might give it a try this weekend and if it does I may just get it replaced.....
It works fine after SBFing to stock GB.
lol i thought i f***ed up something bad haha
I might just keep using this GB until the eclipse .6 gets fixed up or something

I have heard that if the wrong voltage is coming through the charger it can make it go nuts like that which can be pretty bad for ur phone.
Are u using the stock x2 charger or a replacement of some kind?

Im using the rocketfish wall charger for the DroidX so I would assume it should be fine... But the voltage is interesting because it happens when the phone is plugged into my pc or my lappy also..... and that is using the stock USB cable... If it were more frequent and on all ROMs including stock I would have had it replaced already... I'll check the voltage on that rocketfish wall charger with the stock moto one and see when I get off work later....
Hey,
I didn't feel like going through the trouble of buying the Motorola factory charger or whatever you need to charge the phone when it said *battery low* *cannot program* when trying to use the RSD program (might have spelled it wrong) to restore to factory settings. My battery must have been low and in the middle of the restore, it stopped and now Im unable to get to either recovery or charge it.
I had insurance luckily so I just got my galaxy nexus back and should be to me tomorrow. Do yall think someone will buy this phone like that? i have 2 nandroid backups on there so it's probably not safe to sale with that stuff accessible.. smh.. that's why i liked the samsung galaxy s and galaxy s 2 devices because you can use Odin which makes the phones virtually unbrickable. The phone's in PERFECT condition. Would be nice if there was a way around that man

Yeah but you know when you're a frequent flasher and are sure it only takes about 10 percent batter at the most, you don't charge it to the max but I just made a boo boo by not reading the part that said *You must be running a the rom already before flashing the update portion*.. that caused the bootloop..
Thanks a lot though. You're right

Phone should reboot in to a sort of recovered state (last firmware that was on phone) and allow you to charge up.
Once 100% retry flashing.
I screwed my phone several times already and thought I wouldnt recover. Through some chat help have always recovered. Same for my Charge after a few times you figure out all the tricks.
You can recover it. I've done it twice
If you check out my post it shows you a alternative and easier way charge your phone again and make it back to stock rom and no root. Then you can sell your phone for a better price or just keep it!
Ill give you $150 for it...
Ill trade you a Samsung Charge for it. Seriously though you should be able to recover.

When I hold the volume buttons down, I get "Cant start RSD Battery too low to flash". also, When I plug it in, The green LED lights up for a second then turns off as it goes to the Motorola screen. I can't turn it on either with just the battery. any Ideas?

I had this problem just last night. I searched around xda and the internet, and came upon this: http://www.atrixforums.com/forum/mo...e-rsd-lite-flash-sbf-file-motorola-atrix.html
Give it a shot. If it doesn't turn on now, what's the worse that'll happen by trying this?
Just charge the battery and flash a SBF with RSDLite.
Make sure that you don't downgrade the ROM. Read sticky for more info about hardbricking risks.

What SBF file do I need? Im not sure what is on the phone and I dont wanna Brick it if I can avoid it.
Go the latest SBF(the latest being 2.3.6/4.5.141 if you have an ATT atrix. Otherwise a full list of SBF files are here http://www.filefactory.com/f/89f588286a560e39/ ). Bricking occured when downgrading, so long as you upgrade or stay the same you should be fine.

Was your battery charged enough? Sometimes if your battery is low it won't complete the flash.
What directory is your sbf file located at? Sometimes it won't work unless you put it directly in the C:\ drive.
Have you got the latest RSDlite?
What SBF did you flash?
Did you use the usb ports at the back of the pc?
If you can't get it in RSD again then I suggest giving it a charge for an hour or so and trying again later. Also check the md5 of the sbf file to check that the file is correct. Sometimes the 'Switch phone to BP Pass through mode' can be fixed just from trying a different usb port or computer.

congratulations your mobile device is sucessfully bricked.
mine did[(do)will] the same, you have to take it to the assistance, i know what must be done, the assistance guys told me, but it can only be done by them.
so, you better hope you dont have the same problem as mine. [but if you got the error talking about didnt booting radio////failed to switch to BP(or some s**t like that) you probably have it, and only motorola can fix it.]
Edit: we know is the wrong section but only modetators can complain/report/warn. if we are not, lets just help the poor dude while the problem is unsolved.

Have you googled the error? If you have, you'd find that it is a common error and I haven't seen any cases where they didn't eventually get fixed. OP just needs to get back in to RSD and have another go. The guys from 'assistance' don't know what they're doing, they'll take any reason to say that 'only motorola can fix it' because they don't know any better.

I wold haVE GOOGLED IT BUT RSD lite closed on me. I would get back into RSD but I can't get the phone back into it. I power on and hold the volume buttons and it doesnt do anything.
And also now while its stuck on the Motorola boot screen, Unlocked is missing from the corner like it use to be there.
Well after just fidiling around with it, it just started working. After about 45 minutes of just sitting there on the motorola screen, it booted up. Now its time to set it up all the way and put CM7 on it im guess.
I wasn't talking to you about googling the error, I was talking to the guy who had said that your phone was bricked when clearly it wasn't. The error would have been a fail at 'Switching Device to BP Pass Through' stage which does not mean you're device is bricked.
Anyway, good to see you fixed it. And the unlocked text goes away when you flash an SBF, that's normal. Get cm10 on it
I went back through and kind of got that after the fact haha. Im glad I got it fixed also too. Not I can get rid of the dreaded Iphone 4 :\ and be back where I belong. Is there a stable CM10 for it? I havent gotten to look around much yet since I was fixing the main problem.
