[SOLVED] [Q] [NEWB] Pics of Desensed Rezound prease - HTC Rezound

Nevermind, I just bought the phone. Please lock this thread lol
===
Hey everyone,
I tried to ask a question in a thread but I don't have enough posts and I'm not going to spam posts so I made my own thread.
I'm about to buy a Rezound. I've been spoiled with Cyanogenmod on my OG Droid since Day 1. So, I'm definitely going to be using Clean-Tool or something similar to De-sense and remove bloat. If I read correctly, I just need to install my own launcher first, and then use that.
So the only thing that remains that looks like Sense is the lock screen, correct?
If yes, can I still have lock screen widgets and jump in to apps or not? That must rely on some Sense stuff, right?
Although, I did purchase ADW EX when it was on sale for .10 but the new dockbar confused me. As I am getting older, that change scared and confused me Really though, I just didn't want to take time to figure out until I have new phone.
So anyway, if Sense's lockscreen enhancements will no longer work, I guess I'll just use ADW EX to do lockscreen stuff if I want.
I just want confirmation of these questions I have. Googling desensed rezound on regular and image search didn't really pull anything up.

Full Rotary Lock Screen Request

This may be posted somewhere already, but if it is I cannot find it. I am looking for the lock screen from the Moto Zoom to put on my Droid 2. All the Rotary Lockscreens I can find are the lines with the 1/4th circle slide bars. What I am looking for is the one where you actually have to take it full circle to unlock.
First of all, that is going to be really hard to find and probably pretty freaking hard to make.
Second of all, this probably should be under the development section and not themes and apps.
You may like some of the lockscreens in the app widgetlock but none of them are completely rotary (just not a full circle).

Oh yeah, I am sure just straight desgining one would be quite complicated. I dont know much about roms and porting, but I figured since it was stock Gingerbread (Or a stock Moto add-on) it would just be a much simpler matter of porting the code over and replacing the existing lock screen.
And sorry, you're probbly right. I didnt even consider the dev forum. And lastly, I took and look at those and didnt really like them.

[Q] Lock Screen

I have a fascinate without any rooting done to it. Now I know there are 2 choices for lock screens and 3 password protected screens but I am a little bit annoyed with having to swype every time I wish to get into my phone so I was wondering if there was any way I can go about using a different lock screen found on the market or such. I tried one or two, can't quite remember the names, but neither seemed to work for me. Any ideas?!?!?!?!?!
Thanks
Lockscreen
Hmmmmm, that is a good question... Unfortunately without un-stocking yourself I can't help you, BUT I do strongly suggest you get your hands dirty. There is so much to be obtained, so many things to be taken advantage of with all the great minds on xda. With just a root and a nice rom you can get any of hundreds of themes. Comm Rom1.3 is nothing short of awesome sauce.
there's an app called No Lock that i think i used to use before i rooted... i thought it was called Unlock, but in the market it's the same icon as "No Lock" and it looks like the app i used to use.
It works as advertised, no more, no less.
You can pay for Widgetlocker, it's a pretty neat app... although if you rooted and put on the new Community Rom, the TSM lock is pretty much the same thing
Widget locker is by far the best and most customizable, TSM IS cool, but nowhere near as customizable, I'd say look into Widget Locker.

exactly what i'm saying. the new community rom is amazing although i am having fc issues w/ launcher pro.... but beside that the lockscreen options are outstanding

I will do just that thank you very much!
I am thinking about re-rooting. I did it once and ended up bricking my phone as I was not as well versed in rooting as I had hoped, I will probably do it when this school year comes to a close so I have all the time to read and absorb the information.
Thanks again,
You guys are great!
well one click roots are very easy just message if you need help

[Q] Stock Android 4.0?

I have a Rezound on Verizon and I want to get rid of Sense/Verizon crapware (blockbuster app that I can't delete? realy!?) and instead install plain-jane stock Android 4.0.
In addition to the stock UI, I want to be able to Tether like I used to on my Nexus One without paying an extra $20 per month or whatever.
I know very little about the unlocking/rooting process (are these asks even possible?) but I have been following these forums for a few weeks and I read they just opened up the boot loader and I am wondering what that means for me.
Could anyone give me a quick yes/no to those question and if yes, post a few links to how I might I do it? (I saw the "how-to" for using the HTCDev tool they put out today if that is what I am supposed to do...)
ps: Of course I tried to find an answer before posting and I noticed on similar questions everyone responded saying to get cyanogen ROMs but I would really prefer just going totally pure on this and with stock Google just like you get on a Nexus; is that even possible or am I misunderstanding how the UI layer works?
Thanks!
This will be possible within the next couple months. When HTC releases the official ICS update for the phone then the accompanying kernel source that will happen.

First off, thank you for being the first newb ever to correctly create a thread on XDA. Not only that, but in the correct place! I will actually take the time to answer your questions without being pissed off, lol.
We don't have ICS yet, but when you unlock your BL and root you might want to consider getting ADW Launcher or ADW EX. Others might recommend another launcher, but ADW has a tone of ICS options. We can remove bloat with the Clean Tool once you are rooted.

Sense or AOSP [Poll]

Hello there!! I wanted to make this poll to see what the fellow users here in the Amaze forums prefer, Sense or AOSP.
On one hand, we have the original, pure, vanilla android interface. Simple, nothing so complicated and still, yet to come the Amaze, "the pure Google experience". There is no rom that is FULLY stock, with the exception of BeastMOD and SenseLess which are almost de-sensed completely.
And on the other, we have the long running Sense, courtesy of HTC. With lots of eye candy, lots of widgets, and an obsession with weather, Sense is very diverse and customizable. One of the latest versions of it, 3.0, is included with the Amaze, and most of the custom roms for it are Sense.
Many people, love sense, others hate it and prefer AOSP over it. So, its simple, choose your preferred interface, and leave a comment of you want xD

You know what I find is funny?
For devices like G1, MyTouch even Vibrant a bunch of people really want Sense.
Now that you have a device that has Sense out of the box nobody seems to want it.
Here's what I have to say about it: If you don't want it, don't buy it. I happen to be a large fan of the Sense UI. I don't care about how "bloated" it feels or anything like that.
I used to make themes for the devices that didn't have Sense to at least give it a "Sense" look and feel. People went out of their way to edit the Sense UI apps just to make them available for devices that don't come with it.
So now that we seem to have the perfect device to run Sense... you all want to get rid of it?
I don't get it. If you don't like Sense then why by a phone with it??? Someone please explain that to me.

Very valid point,
here's my view
I happen to like HTC since i loved my nexus one, and I bought this phone mainly for it's camera, nothing else is like it on T-mobile right now. I neither hate fan nor like it there are parts of it I like and parts I don't. I bought the SGSII first and hated it, I hated the screen resolution and how big it was...this phone just felt good...Sometimes even if you don't like sense, there are no other options, every individual wants something different and not all cellphones deliver everything in one package. I was initially waiting for the galaxy nexus and just got tired of waiting. I hated the pentile screen when I looked at it in the store (even If I ordered over seas) NO dedicated camera button, this is what I really wanted. I also wanted a 720p screen like the rezound, If I could I would get the rezound, but it doesn't have dedicated camera buttons and I want that. it has the same exact camera as the amaze. a 720p screen on a 4.3 inch screen which gives better dpi than the retina display...But I have no choice, I'm not going to pay 180 monthly just to get that phone...right now I pay 60 bucks on a shared plan and get unlimited everything with 5 gigs of unthrotled data. I also like this about android and like things about the iphone, I can't have it all in one package.
I use locker widget, and adw launcher and I'm happy with it...I do not hate the sense launcher, or the lockscreen, I just prefer my own customization. I love what they've done with their camera app. I like their calendar application. I like their parts of their contact and dialer app and hate parts of it.
I talk too much!!!

Peoples always wanted what they don't/can't have. Simple
I myself love to have a Sense Rom mainly due to its lock screen and weather widget and a few more stuff but also running ADW so I can switching back and forth every other week or so
Personally I think Sense based Rom give me more options. If tired of looking at Sense, switch to other launcher and apps or vice versa whereas ASOP based wouldn't let me have Sense stuff if I so desired
Just because a phone comes with Sense doesn't mean it's the main attraction of the device. Did people buy the Samsung Galaxy S2 for TouchWiz? I sure hope not. There are other features of a product that convince people to purchase it. Specs, look and feel, cost-efficiency, and availability all factor in and affect this. The Amaze happens to feel like a really premium product with high end specs to boast. It also happens to come with Sense.
I don't hate Sense, but I just find it to be too non-customizable and would always use a third party launcher like ADW Launcher or Go Launcher anyway, so Sense means little to me.

Then go ahead and have your vote
I sense garbage.
This is my second htc sense phone.
You like sense until you try something else for a while.. Then you can't stand it.
We all have our own opinions.. It's fine, but for me it's a nice eye candy developed system that I can not stand and can't wait for cm7, 9 or something else.
Also a reason why I have adw launcher.
Talking of CM I kinda missed it alot.
Many great features: crt built-in, toggle widgets on top of pull-down notification panel, brightness adjust by sliding the status bar ect ... And separate lock screen wallpaper
Too many customization Sense lack
I switched back to sense for the beats audio

People who vote sense have not experienced a good AOSP rom, if at all.
First, thanks for fixing my thread. And second, I prefer sense, altough I can live with Aosp.

No problem.
I like sense, I like AOSP, just depends on how I feel that day. With all the themes, Roms, tweaks and different launchers, we can pretty much do what we prefer on any given day. I still have a cliq lol running 2.3.4 gingerbread aosp, a HD2 running Sergios core cell rom, and my "NEW" Amaze stock, patiently waiting for new developement.
Sense has great eye-candy and great integrated apps which is my kind of thing. like the built in task manager, built in social media, built in music player. its all better than stock IMO. Stock gets boring to me for some reason
I personally have no problem with sense, it's just the size, I like using my system partition for apps, but I do like the facebook and tight music control integration!

[Q] Just got my new GS3 32gig-some general questions

Hi All,
Just got my GS3 32g on verizon today..Bought mine privately so I could keep my unlimited data!
Have a couple of general questions. I am upgrading from an HTC rezound..While I liked the sense overlay on my rezound (don't hate me for it)
I was wondering if there was a way to live weather screens that I had with HTC (ie: clock..)
I have been looking at "true weather" on the google play store, but was wondering what everyone else has been doing...
Also, my GS3 came with swype but I seem to have had a different (newer) beta version on my rezound that seemed better... Can I switch to that version without too much trouble?
Also, been thinking about rooting, but was gonna wait a bit.
Thanks in advance,
drumrjoe
Not sure about the weather thing, but Swype beta works fine, just go to the website and download the installer
Sense analog clock dark widget?

Hey,
Just wanted to give a sincere thanks for the help
I'm starting to get the hang of the phone, and I am extremely happy I switched to the GS3. I have been using the true weather LWP and some sense style widget for the clock.
I am attaching a screenshot of my main screen.
Also, I remember seeing posts about other phones where people have ripped sounds/wallpapers, etc...
Was wondering if I can possibly use a theme from another phone/ let's say an HTC on the GS3???
Rock on,
