did that, actually before i saw this reply. i saw that on the hpwebos warranty support site lol.
thanks for the reply, i have 2 more touchpads i need to put android on from xmas.

I am having the same issue :\

Mine was the same way. Threw it on the charger for an hour and it booted right up.

Try leaving on the charger for a few hours while off, should give it enough charge to boot up

Had this happen to me. I tried to charge it all night even and still no luck. Went to HP.com and did a live chat, after a quick troubleshoot he said they would fix it. They sent me an empty box to put the TP in, I dropped it off at ups, had it back in about a week. They called me up and asked me where I bought it from, odd because it was from hp.com, and told me it was a European version. Whatever. They sent me another one next day. Seems new.

I would try charging it overnight on the microUSB charger before starting it. It could be possible the battery drained too much. Have you also checked to make sure the charger is working. Perhaps try another USB device on it.

Problem I had was out of the box the charger didn't even show up on the screen. Tried a known working ccharger, same result. That's when I tried the menu power thing and all was working.
I tried looking and didn't find anything til about 2 minutes after posting lol.

Just got my S2, but it won't turn on! :(

So I had bought this phone off ebay and when I got it today I tried to turn it on, but nothing happened.
I then plugged the phone in and tried powering it on and still nothing. I tried charging the battery and left it alone for an hour and afterwards the result is the same. Basically when I plug in the phone to the charger, the phone's screen will flash a battery icon as if its going to charge for a split second and then go blank. And then it will flash the battery icon again and then go blank again and it will go on like this for a couple of minutes until the screen finally stays blank.
So as I said even though I leave the phone to charge for a while, it still won't turn on and the only result seems to be that the phone gets warm near the camera. Also I tried to see if download mode works and pressed both volume buttons and I get a brief flash of some words. After doing it for several times I saw it said 'Low battery, cannot download' all in red.
I searched the forum and tried leaving the battery out for a while and also putting it in the fridge to see if anything would happen but nothing. So can anyone help? Is it just the battery?
Could be the battery - if you are on good terms with a local ATT store, try going there and asking if you can borrow a battery from their demo device to see if yours will power up. That's the best cheap way I can think of to rule that out.
Other possibility is a bad USB port. My first device developed a failure at about 2 months - I'm actually on day 5 with my warranty replacement. There is another member here, Moustro I think, who also may have a bad USB port. He and I were wondering if perhaps there was a bad batch out there. I'm not sure what ATT's warranty policy is for items re-sold on eBay, but might be worth checking out...
yeah that does sound like it could be the battery boot loop, take some photos of the battery to see if it is the oem... if it is the oem try a stand alone chager

I live in Canada don't think I'd get much help from AT&T probably.
Also the battery is the original one and not a replacement. I left it unplugged for a few hours and just now plugged it back in and its the same battery icon flashing for a couple of minutes and then blank screen. No charging whatsoever. I tried different outlets and different USB ports on my notebook and its all the same.
I also have an Infuse and charging for that every by every method is just fine so its my SII that's messed up.
If it's any condolence to you, I just bought a brand new GS2 from the ATT store today. The battery was semi-charged when I got it, and when it ran out, I plugged it in and got the same thing you did. Battery is flashing, cannot power it on, even plugged in. I also got the red "Low battery, cannot download".
I spent the better part of 4 hours reloading my apps and email addys, and everything else to get my phone up and running, and now this.
I am going back to the ATT store tomorrow and requesting a different brand new one.
This is my 2nd GS2, because I destroyed my first one in an accident.
Just as dandrumheller was saying. I had simimiar issues where the phone battery would blink on and off even if the charger was plugged in or not while the phone was powered off. The only way I could get my phone to boot to prepare it for warranty exchange was to flash a rom through Odin. But if you can't get it into download mode this wouldn't work.
My suggestion would be to use a different battery. That would let you know if its a hardware issue or bad battery.
hmm...
I was able to to get it to power on last night with what little battery was left. I then plugged it into the USB of my Mac, rather than the charging wart. When I awoke this AM, I have a fully charged battery, and a working phone. I will let the battery run out again completely today and see what happens.
That's great news! I hope it continues to work for you
I would not let it completely run out. Our batteries don't like that. Don't go below 25 percent. I'm glad you got it working. I know you're relieved.

Apprehensive might be better.
We all know AT&T isn't in the best graces with most.
They must be the ***** of Comcast.
Anybody got anymore suggestions?? Can't get it to work no matter what I try.
Call samsung and see if they will honor the warranty? Don't know their rules, but in another thread someone suggested that sale of the phone does not void the warranty.

Were you able to find a fix for your problem? i bought a SGII from ebay and is presenting the same issue
For what its worth I am able to enter download with NO battery. In fact I ONLY do it without a battery. I just hold both volume buttons and plug in the USB to my computer while not pressing anything else. Without battery.
Thought the OP said he couldn't enter download.... so if that doesn't throw it in download it's more than just battery.

Guys,
I tried this and it worked...
At a last resort, i put the battery on nexus to see if it will charge and DAMN !! it did,, so the battery was not the issue...so i grab a swab with little alcohol then clean the terminals on the battery and the spring connectors on the phone... and voila !!! started charging and keeps working perfectly.
It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you guys.
Glad you were able to isolate the problem.

Same problem
Flashing on for a sec then flashing off, buttons flashed too. Phone got hot around the battery. Couldn't have described the problem better
Took some alcohol, cleaned the contacts for the USB connector, cleaned the battery contacts, and booyah, got the charging symbol again! Problem was, I didn't use the phone for a month, it rode around in the front pocket of my laptop bag, and apparently got the contacts dirty. A little toothpick and q-tip fun later, and my phone started charging again. Thanks -

Really? I've had mostly HTC phones and we could run them down pretty low.. I've been running mine down past 10 and it's been fine.. stock battery.
I had the same problem as op. My last resort was to cut the micro usb end of a spare cable and connected it to the (+) and (-) on the phone itself. since the phone booted up, i knew it was the battery. Next, i did the same thing but (+) and (-) on the battery itself while connected to a computer. i held it in place for about 10 seconds. put the battery back in the phone and it started charging again. im sure it wasnt the safeat thing to do, but it worked. Maybe the dead battery needed some kind of jump.
btw. The wires you would be using are the the black and red. and i got this idea from

I believe these are different types of batteries. Not Lithium, but something else. I bought some spare batteries from eBay and the batteries had the same instructions... That it is not good to let them die completely, and charge then preferably when they still have 1/3 charge left.

View not turnig on. Amber light is blinking

Hi all,
Ive had my View for about 6 weeks now and it has been great. But I put it on the charger the other day after the battery had been drained down. I checked it a few hours later and the amber light is just blinking. It wont turn on or anything? Does this mean I have a new paper weight? Ive tried using different chargers and cable but nothing.
Not sure, but did you try to go into hboot and power down from there? Then stick it on the charger.
If that doesnt work, maybe pull the battery for 30 minutes then put it in and try charging (before starting it up). These are things that worked with my EVO 4G phone when it got locked up. I'm not sure how hard it is to pull the battery in this though.
Can't pull the battery. Try pushing volume down plus power for ten seconds, or until something happens. That is the hard coded method for resetting, since battery pull is not possible.

Drained Touchpad can't turn on (dual boot)

Hi guys.
Before sleeping I left the TP on the touchstone to charge and the clock appeared so I knew that touchstone was charging as it should .
Then I turned off the power button (when it was on ICS ) and when I woke up the TP was completely dead.
I tried every hard reset combination .....not working. I tried every charging method* for some minutes...not working.
I know that my original charger is working because my HP Pre3 is charging perfectly on connect and I suppose that touchstone is working as TP is getting warm on the back .
My TP is running the cm-9-20120623-NIGHTLY-tenderloin version.
I presume that is a drained problem as resets are not working. Not even the plug mark is appeared...(could it be something else apart energy drain ? )
What should I do ? I am completely lost now....
* car charger, original charger with cable, original charger with touchstone, pre3's charger even if it's not the right voltage.
When you connect the charger, do you see the home button LEDs flash/alternate? When it fully drains it takes a while before the plug symbol shows up... then again, I had a friend whose touchpad went bad and wouldn't power at all (bad battery?).

No....Not at all.
The home button never flashed even once.
But I found out today the solution.
This is the way that revived my so dead TP :
I charged for at least 15 hours the TP with a handsfree mini USB charger at 5v, 0.7mA (instead for the original TP charger of 2mA).
Then I holded the power button and pushed rapidly 15-20 times the home button.
I did the opposite holding the home button and pushed rapidly 15-20 times the power button.
I really do not know which one of these two combinations make the TP wake up.
After two-three minutes after my attempts the plug icon appeared on the screen and I rapidly connected with the original TP charger via cable. Home button was glowing for first time after days.
After half an hour moboot menu appeared and I choosed fast to boot on the webos. That's it !!
It now is charging on webos nice and easy. To be sure that I am not going to live this situation again I choosed to boot on Webos by default instead of ICS through Cyboot.
Till these wonderfull guys stabilize the ICS for the TP use cyboot to avoid such problems.
Same exact issue and rom here ... thank u so much for this thread sir....I am attempting ur fix riiiiight now ....cross fingers for me !!!!

Try to not let the touchpad's battery get drained cause I got 2 that died because it was drained too often had to call for rma twice process is quite simple if yours turns on it's a good sign just leave it on the charger
After recovering from this problem once in the past, I am currently fighting it again with less success. I've had a good year run with my Touchpad and I have no intention of sending it back or trying to fight with HP. Can anyone point me to posts where anyone has had any success removing and recharging the battery directly? I intend to keep fighting this to the end, so any suggestions on that will be appreciated.

I have had this problem only once and don't want it again. The only way I could bring it back to life was by placing on my touchstone charger and it booted and continued to charge after a couple of hours , all thanks to REVERAND Kyle.
I have had this happen too frequently. Use the steps suggested by others. Home power button slow charge. Usually the minute I get a little juice to boot I go straight to webos for the rest of charge. I wish there was an app/option to boot to webos instead off powering off or hen attached to charger. If I knew how to dev I would try it.

There is an app it's called Cyboot and can be downloaded from preware in Webos it allows you to decide what you wish to boot into and to change the delay time which I haven't decreased as Android is my start option and if I make it to low I won't be able to get back into Webos when I need to.
Hope this helps.

Touchpad Wont Power On (Bricked?)

Hi guys,
I have two hp touchpads here a while back one of them decided to take a nose dive and will not power on - i followed the steps of charging it via usb for 1 week, touchstone for 1 week and mains also for 1 week but nothing worked and it will not power back up.
I can connect it to the pc and hold down power + volume + home and it is detected as a palm device but then when I run webos doctor it does not pick it up.
Is there anything else to try to get this thing back up and running again it seems like the pc can still see it fine but webdoctor just refuses to pick it up - is there also any specific drivers that need to be installed for it to work with hpwebdoctor I believe from reading the drivers should be incorparated into the recovery program although not 100% sure on this.
Did you try to check if the USB cable itself is bad? I once had a problem with my touchpad getting power, but all data related things did not work. Figuring that it might be the USB cable, and most of my other old USB cables were going bad, I just bought like five USB cables from monoprice, got them, and then all was well.

Same issue as OP but in my case it's definitely not the cable. My TP began to act this way after Doctor failed and TP disconnected from PC.

Apologies nah it didnt drop its just a scottish phrase meaning it broke and wouldnt power on apologies again for that lol..
h8kor I have 2 touchpads and the cable is working fine on one but no the other - Im thinking its possibly time to open it and seeing whats in there or just keep it for spares for my working one
I'm also having the same issue.
One other thing was the night before it powered off I tried to charge it with the mains from about 4% in the morning it got to 15% then i unplugged it from mains charger and back in and the charging symbol appeared but it just drained itself showing the battery warning sign and powered off.
2 or so days later i left it charging on USB and it came back to the battery symbol but still wouldn't charge via mains and it discharged again and i think i missed the window here for getting it on the touchstone for a full charge but who knows.. would be nice to have it working so i could give it to my girlfriend but at least i still have one for myself

Mine wasn't a dead battery. Mine was soft reset during WebOs doctor session and only comes up as palm in Device Mgr...so I guess I'm screwed.
I kept it off the charger for about a week, I then plugged it back in and the home button started flashing. I left it overnight and when i came back it booted into CWM by itself.

Note 3 won't turn on

I had a low battery and had been using my phone at work. I thought I had about 10% left, but looked at my phone and it was off. No, problem I have a usb cord and plug into my work computer to charge it, but no luck. The charging display doesn't come on at all. So, I tried using the same cord with the ad adapter, but same thing. When I first tried it it looked like it was trying to load up, but froze up on the first screen that comes on. So, I pulled the battery, but I am getting absolutely nothing so far. It has been on the charger for about 30 minutes now. What gives? I think I am within my 14 day period at Best buy, maybe it's a battery or phone issue. Of all the days and times it had to be today when I have plans after work, but looks like I have a date with Best Buy instead now. any ideas?
Well that was disappointing. Thankfully it was replaced without a problem. I wonder if it was from the battery dying. I tested the old battery and it powered the new one. Not sure what happened or if that's a first. I hate I lost everything on it.

Point is if the battery is totally dead it has to charge for a bit before you can power on the phone...even with a wall charger.
