[Q] CWM5 won't backup? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

I just realised that CWM5 on my phone WON'T backup. It is stuck it "backing up /system..." Any ideas? Or does backing up system takes VERY long?

4 solutions
1.not enough space on SD card maximum
700mb required free up some space
2.there is limit u can store files on ur sdcard .plzzz put all your files in root to a folder.
3.it sure takes some time.
4.if still stuck then use cwm4

Alright I got it working, thanks anyway, guess I was impatient and my SD card has 5GB of space xD

Cwm5 takes a hell lot of a time when backing up then cwm4.

I have a 4 GO,4Class SD card
I don't think the class really matters in your situation.. because I still have the 2GB stock SD card which means class 2 with 500MB ext4 partition and 64MB swap partition and also I moved the dalvik cache to the SD card and it works for me..
maybe you can try to change your swap and ext allocation

It seems swap partition sometimes causes reboots. It is not adviced to create a swap partition on ace. I've read it in many posts. If u want to free ram, use d allinone script.

I have installed Darktremor's script. It's running Successfully. i have all data , apps , dalvik cache on sd.
I have one question :
When i remove sd card and restart , it starts as normal phone with no apps.... which is obvious coz all my apps were on sd card. But now when i REINSERT my sd card ... it doesnt start normally and all apps Force close ...
any solution ??

i believe removing sd card even with safe removal is not recommended. this is partly why google disabled widget from operating out of sd card altogether (as part of design)
so your solution is to use a usb cable as a workaround.
script from cf root not working on final cm 7.2
was working perfectly on stock rom with cf root karnel
you should try mini tool partition wizard, i use it and i never get any problem

[q] need help with my partition sd card

Hey guys...i've problem with my partition...its change to be EXT2...i make it EXT4 before when i flash DTAPP2SD its changed by itself..tell me the completion..thx
I think you can use CWM for this. You just need to recreate the extension.

Yes its safe and tested.
You just boot on CWM then goto Advance. you can see extension configuration options there including the creation.
Click thanks button if I you think I helped you.

EXT3,if i m not wrong. I m on 1024 swap 32 and i dun have any problems. I m running quite a lot of stuffs n free 160+ all the time
It converts automatically to ext3. U just hv to select d amount of space u require for that partition.

if I'm not mistaken CWM 4.0.0.9 creates ext2 as far as I can remember.. but i'm pretty sure in 5.0.2.6 it creates ext3 partition..

[Q] Ext4

I just created an ext4 via CWM 4.0.0.9 and as I insert my sd card on my computer and use a app called minitool partition, I saw my ext4 as ext3 only. Why? I thought CWM creating partition as ext4. weird..
No I think it creates ext 3 partion
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
If its only creating ext3. Is there any way or application to convert it to ext4?

CWM 4.0.0.9 creates ext3 partition.
If u want, u can use minitool itself to "format" it to ext4 type

U mean wen u install an .apk u get reboots, right? It happens to me a lot of times. D problem is wit d sd ext partition. Reflash d rom & create a backup. When u face the problem again, just restore d backup or go to advanced restore & restore sd ext. U dont have to flash an entire rom.

I had the same issue of ext4 getting changed back to ext3
someone told me its because i have a class 2 sdcard
i heard that ext4 works properly only on class 6 onwards
dunno if its true though

my ace can read the sdcard, but my laptop cant read it

i just flashed my ace with costume ROM mush69ROM . ive found the problem with my sdcard. the sdcard cant be read by my computer, but all of data in sdcard can still work on my device. first, i thought the sdcard was broken, so i tried put the sdcard to other device, and result is my laptop can read it. the second i tried the other sdcard to my ace and i connect the ace to my laptop, and the result is the same, my computer cant read that other sdcard.
does it mean my ace sdcard port was broken ?
thanks
Which is mush69rom there is no such rom for ace plzz give us link to the rom...

It may have happened because your primary partition is ext instead of fat32. If so repartition and reformat the memory card

thanks for the advice, i just formated the sdcard to 2 partitions FAT and ext4, and its still not workin .
before it, the ext are FAT32 and ext4, when i tried the sdcard to other device, its working as usual, so i thought it wanst caused by ext of the sdcard.

[Help]SD partition app needed

Hello guys,
I installed link2sd app from market and it says me to partition your SD card.I have searched a lot and not able to find an app like this. Can
anyone suggest me?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
I would prefer using miniTools Partition Manager on your computer. It's much safer(Hope u have a SD card Reader).
Here, it's a full guide about using Link2SD app. Skip the step of downloading the attachment and copying it to system if u have already installed the app from Market.
