Every time I input 2 letters in Google search, it force closes. It didn't use to work before so I downloaded it from the market and it still doesn't work. I checked the system apps folder with root explorer and its not there. And when I try to search something else with it, it doesn't search.
Can anyone help me with this search madness?

Which rom are you using?

I have this same problem. It supposedly has something to do with voice search. It will only FC if you are set to search for everything, but if you simply want to search the web, set it that way and it won't FC. I was too lazy to fix it and I realized that I don't use the search for everything anyway, just the web, so I left it broken.
I have the same problem with ICS Final

I've tried the Google Now app for ICS on various X10 ICS roms, however none of them has worked.
The voice search works, but the Google Now feature, the one that tracks you in a creepy way, doesn't work. Whenever I activate it in settings the voice search app Force Closes.
¿Does anynone know how to solve this?
No one? Hasn't anyone tried this?

Hi, can someone please upload me the APKs for Google Talk, Google Voice Search(not Google Voice), and Gmail(tablet, two columns version if available) that works for the latest Jetstream. Must have deleted them unintentionally and I don't have my ROM files anymore. I already tried downloading again the ROMs that haven't been deleted yet but always timed out because my internet is so bad and no resume, still trying right now but maybe someone can be so kind and just get me those files only.
If you want to send me via email: h4rr33[at]gmail[dot]com
Thanks! :victory:

What about using Search?
Or Just use Google and search for "Google Apps xyz"

Here you go.
Apk files attached. Don't know if they would install as it is or you would need to flash them in the form of an update.zip with the files in folder /system/app

...I did. Why don't you enlighten me with some links that has working apks! I've tried transformers apks and while gmail works(one column), GTalk FC and I can't for the life of me find Voice Search. Honeycomb APKs aren't that many in circulation, especially the ones that work for 3.1.
Had an update to Google search this morning. Supposedly it now allows apps to be launched.
So far I can only get Gmail to open. Tried searching for more info but no luck.
Anyone else discovered what else opens? Is it just a few Google apps that work or is it up to the devs to allow their stuff to launch.
Edit: clock and calculator works, settings & browser doesn't

Thanks but these are old commands.
The new ones only became available today after doing the update, cant find these ones listed anywhere. There is an actual link in Google now but it just opens the default help section.

Ping!
So, since people have been having issues with Google search via speech and speech to text in root box for i605 and probably other cm variants or maybe its aosp. Someone tell me which is causing the issue and I'll edit the op. Here's a work around that got it working
So, to get voice search and Voice to text to work:
1. Open titanium backup
2. Search for google search. Uninstall.
3. Search for "voice" some called: com.Google.android.voicesearch.4.0.0 will appear. Uninstall.
4. Open play store and reinstall Google search.
5. Talk!

Hi all
I don't have Google now installed. But when I start to use Google search, now keeps trying to install itself. Can I permanently remove now? And just have search?
This is for CM10.1
Thanks

Have you tried starting Google Search, then Settings, then Google Now > Off ?

Thanks for your response
I have been there, it is already "off".
It is almost like Google Search is advertising Now, but I don't want it ask me to install Now every time, I just want to go straight to search.
Even hitting the microphone opens the Google Now install window, then I must hit the back button to go back to regular search.
This is really annoying for someone who doesn't want google now installed.
