who's cancelling? who's waiting for the next big thing? who thinks that the eee pad is still worth the wait?
i basically want you to pat me on the head and tell me everything's going to be ok. Even though its most likely going to be delayed, its still the tablet to get.
People overreacting..lmfao
Everything will be alright unless you feel like waiting till march-april at earliest for another new quad core. Probably more like may-june

Thinking about just sticking with the TF101 that I already have, since there's really nothing wrong with it.
What I really need is a new phone to replace my OG Droid, but the Galaxy Nexus situation on Verizon is equally a mess and I'm kind of considering just getting a Droid RAZR instead. I'm pretty fed up with all these premature product announcements followed by indefinite setbacks.

Some people crack me up. You guys need to chill out. There will not be a competitor to the prime for at least two months.

agree, seems that they just like to preorder and talk about new products. And after some weeks they start finding bad things and cancel there orders and wait for the next new super mega gadget that they can hype and preorder and then cancel.
That sort of people never buy anything, they just like to talk and show the world how smart and cool they are. They are just BIG trolls sitting in there rooms with dreams and fantasy and believe all that written on the Internet.
Asus Prime will be the best tablet for months.
First in the summer other manufacturers will have there products for sale not any sooner.
Phone vs Tablet - Late Binding
Here's my stance.
My OG Droid is on it's last legs (but still quite usable with CM7 on it). I have a few more months even. But I have my eye on the Galaxy Nexus, being released Dec 15 (maybe).
I had an Acer 10 tab, which I really liked, but returned to Costco because of microphone problems and seeming lack of Acer commitment to tablet space. So I decided to wait instead for TP. Currently have one on order from BB, release 12/18.
So my current scenario is to receive replacement tablet week of Dec 19-23, and hold off on phone for a couple of months.
But if the wifi problem with TP are serious, or BB surprises me with a delay, or there is a REALLY good deal on Galaxy Nexus, then I'll cancel TP order and do the phone first, tablet later.
I'll make the decision with more data in about a week. The trick now is not to fall in love with any scenario.
The people who cancel I bet will buy it when its in store.
its a daycare for kids here on this forum. Keeps em outta trouble.

This is probably realistic. I'm guessing from leaks there are at least two quad-core tablets well in to development that will be announced on January 10 at CES. To see them on the market 30 to 45 days later is plausible. Other than the Teg3 and dock there's nothing unusual about the Prime. Other manufacturers, most with more R&D resources, haven't been eating bon bons since Nvidia announced Teg3 and Asus starting making noise about wanting to be first to market with a quad-core tablet.
The dock is what interests me about the Prime, though: I'm interested in it because I think a device which can be closely integrated with a keyboard will be much more useful than a tablet alone. So I'm not changing my allegiance right now. If I didn't buy a Prime, I'd probably buy no tablet unless anyone else comes out with something equivalent.

This works incredibly well and doubles as a protective case. You can also lay the keyboard flat and the case doubles as a stand. The Asus keyboard adds additional battery life but other then that it accomplishes the same function. It's very pricey though.

No track pad, no extra battery, no extra ports... The TF dock is way better, IMO, and worth the $150 extra. I love my TF101 - wouldn't even consider buying anything but the Prime at this point.

Basically it looks like the Transformer Prime is going to be delayed due to Wi-Fi issues, which several different sites pointed out. Still just a rumor though.

That site your referenced is the 5th different site I have seen today that has referenced the Phandroid article as the basis of creating there article. I wish sites would actually try and find out if it is real or not by calling the company before they start spreading more rumors. Apparently 2 people on this site has called Asus and they still claim there is no delay and the Dec 19th date still applies for the US, but that's taking there word that they called and talked to knowledgeable reps on the phone.

By bad news, I'm assuming (after reading the other threads) the OP meant:
The recent revelations that some review units to big review sites had WiFi strength issues (weak wifi connections). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385391
While this is a confirmed issue in some test units, it has also been confirmed that other test units to other big review sites are NOT suffering this issue. The bad news is that there is a possibility the Prime shipment (OR availability) may be delayed until after the much "confirmed" date of the 19th so that Asus can fix this wifi issue. If this wifi issue is NOT in the hardware BUT in the software (is this related? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384034 ), then there is the strong possibility that there may be nothing to worry about and that the 19th is the confirmed date (and thus no bad news).
A major Canadian retailer/seller (NCIX) has emailed buyers telling them that a hardware/related issue is prompting Asus to delay ALL shipments of the Prime until the issue is solved http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384870
A lot of people are viewing this as bad news, while others think this is simply NCIX giving a fake or typical marketing answer to make sure the buyers do not run off to the competition.
It seems majority (or all?) such news of cancellations due to hardware issue OR "confirmed" shipment delays have been based on those NCIX emails. No one knows for sure if what NCIX is saying is true, if it's something related only to NCIX shipments, or if the confusion behind the release dates is indeed because Asus is scrambling to fix the hardware issue WHILE making sure the retailers (at least BestBuy, Newegg, Gamestop, Amazon, etc in the US) do not open their big mouth about any Prime problems like NCIX did.
Check the Gamestop thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1374761 ): people called yesterday and today, and they're getting more firm answers that the Tablet WILL be released on the 19th. I'm going to call Gamestop right now and find out the date I can pick it up (and will post in the Gamestop thread).
Online stores from my country date it mid January since it became available. No changes so far.

Hopefully. If the NCIX email was false then we (Canada) should be back on track. However, the Amazon delay is a stock issue rather than a delay as far as I know.
I'm in no way trying to be a mod, but was this thread needed? Was there not a thread posted earlier in regards to the phandroid and androidcentral articles based on the other thread where someone posted their letter from NCIX? Either way even though the rep used very loose words if you can read in between the lines, it pretty much falls in line with what I said. US is most likely on track still, just not a huge initial alotment. As an aside, these forums seemed to be going crazy today. I guess everyone is really anxious over the Prime, which they ought to be, and every article or piece of information regarding it, is driving everyone to the edge. We all need to just do whatever we usually do to relax and just enjoy talking about the tablet we are all looking forward to while we wait.

Thank you, although I know I got on ur case in another thread..lmao I ran out of thanks. THIS IS THE FIRST ARTICLE THAT ACTUALLY HAS INFORMATION FROM THE HORSES MOUTH. The words that came out of the horses mouth, Asus, said there is no delay and they still on track for Dec. 19th release. Also verge, is thinkn theres no real widespread wifi issue.
I'm not by far an android fanboy. That person wouldn't own an iPad like I do. I'm a fan of technology in general. No matter the maker. It's just that this device is very promising and has already be said, by several big name sites, to be the best Android tablet by far, so far. To many people trying to nit pick negative info and rain on peoples parade and excitement of this new device which will be a first of it's kind in more ways than one. the majority of people who preordered still stickn with it.
Mission failed at trying to scare the real tech heads away from this device.
That's it... to much BS floating around here, and not enough facts... which is fine, but there are threads popping up every few minutes now about the release date... we need a moderator on this forum... Be putting this off for a while, but I'm volunteering.
See you on the flip side, and hopefully I'll be able to clean some of this crap up.

You have new people checking out this forum section and see all these rumor threads/negative ones and it might deter them from a great device.
Not everyone smart enough to read in-between the lines. It's obvious that slot of people here will believe anything, with no official source to back it up. I'm like you though, I'm ready to relax. I feel you, I sold my TF to get the Prime and I'm just waiting myself. I try to keep my mind occupied and not think about it. Although everyday I check my order status on Newegg. lol
I'll believe it when Asus mentions something on an official channel.
Since all this speculation is the only entertainment I have as I study for finals i will play devil's advocate here.
That statement from asus is about as vague as it comes. we still "show" to be on schedule? If they are on schedule why not say they ARE on schedule to be released? Why beat around the bush?
Also the whole I will provide an update when i have more information? What more information are you waiting for if there is no delay? I thought you had the information and knew what you were talking about?
Finally why is there absolutely no actual reference to the delay or wifi issue? A simple, no there is no wifi issue, no there is no delay would allay everyone's concerns, but instead all we have is a very vague statement that does not fully dispel anything.
MUAHAHA let the war begin!
But really I think I may have been the first to post about the possible delay when I received an email from memory express stating there was some sort of production delay. Since then it only seems like NCIX has mentioned this to their customers so something weird is going on. It is odd that both retailers would mention a production delay if they were not told that was the case. But really it seems like the possibilities are there is some small problem with a few units (perhaps like the anandtech reviewers received, as in actually broken units) and asus happens to be reducing the units NCIX and memory express are getting. Or they simply do not have enough to fullfill all orders and are cutting out units from NCIX and memory express to fulfill other orders and then NCIX and memory express are lying to us.
I honestly believe the first is probably the most likely as I cant imagine first off memory express and NCIX both choosing to lie to their customers like that (and in my email they were actually quite explicit saying the Asus Vice President for North America Sales and Distribution contacted them about the delay. That is a pretty blatant lie to be telling customers.
Either way I'm staying hopeful I will get my unit sometime during the holiday season as I will be in alberta where the taxes I would have to pay is quite a bit lower! So come on anytime before Jan 4th! And hell if it turns out they lied to me about the whole vice president delay blah blah blah I'll give them hell and maybe get something out of it!

This was posted on slashgear's web site sorry I am not allowed to post the web link.
Late last night rumors hit the street that the ASUS Transformer Prime had been delayed and I’m sure a few were saddened by such news. After almost every online retails has sold out of the new quad-core slate we were quick to reach out to ASUS for an official response and have good news to report. According to our sources everything is on track and as planned.
Slashgear reported the samething
http://www.slashgear.com/asus-puts-delay-rumor-to-rest-confirms-transformer-prime-is-on-schedule-10201473/
So apparently some ASUS phone rep claimed deliveries are not delayed, what a shock. The loyal minions are will take this as some sort of official guarantee from Mr. Asus.
The level of baseless negativity here astounds me. It's almost as if people want to believe the thing will arrive 6 months late and is a piece of crap.
The Transformer Prime TF700T will likely be the first tablet released to sport a 2.3-million-pixel, 1,920x1,200 screen. For those keeping count, that's more than twice the pixel count of any previous tablets, which top out at 1,280x800 (1.02 millions pixels). No release date but I think its worth the wait.

And they should care about the opinions of someone who will never buy their products again?
It's kinda ironic though that the Transformers are the best software-supported tablets out there. Constant updates and usually among the first to get the latest.
Now that's...Mean.
Wait. I take it you're the early adapters who got stuck with the OLD version and are acting like you're on the rag because I posted this. Damn. Oh well.
Don't take in out on me little girle men. Call Asus and level a grip at them.
What else did I do today, you ask? I didn't by a Transformer Prime! HA, ha hardy har har!
and then you'll be waiting after that when someone brings out an even snazzier toy.
at what point will you actually stop and buy?
TF700 is slated Q2 which if normal release cycles are anything to go by will be the back end of that quarter and that will be provided there are no delays. they have to be able to produce a 600+ nits screen that can do full HD on mass production levels and hope they don't encounter any other problems.
then you have have whether or not ICS will cope with a full HD screen on normal day to day use, will apps? will ICS need tweaking to work properly? will tegra 3 be able to handle full HD res without dragging its ass like a dog.
I'm buying the prime now, with a weather eye on the TF700 down the line. no reason to deny myself in the meantime. play with the prime. sell it six to seven months down the line and get the newer model sounds like a plan to me.

Saw this and thought everybody should be aware that there is a petition out there to get the prime issues resolved.
In three days it already has 1059 Sigs
Just add www to link below
.change.org/petitions/jonney-shih-chairman-jerry-shen-ceo-fix-or-replace-transformer-prime-model-tf201#
Signed it.
Great! At this point we have nothing to loose!
Signed.
I am very surprised people aren't more vocal about this. They were more outraged about the locked bootloader. I am feeling pretty ripped off.
Signed it and spreading it on facebook
You are so late on this. we already have a thread on it. I was one of the I signed when it was only 200 people.
I've done the same.. on Facebook and leaving it on comments regarding the prime and the new prime 700t .. I also saw on a post on amazon someone contacted asus and they were willing to replace the current cover for the new 700t model's case.. Maybe they are starting to listen!
I am reading the complaints and seems like more than half the people signed don't even own the prime. People are mostly mad about the fact that tf700 is released shortly after they bought the prime. Sigh, I really don't understand this, tf700 is a different model, different screen, 3g and higher price. If you buy a laptop and in 4 months a new one is released you won,t expect anyone to whine. They announced it because it was CES, if you don't have new products announced you'll be out shined by the competitor, but that doesn't mean that it will be released right away.
Its ok. At least others that missed that thread were able to add their signatures when they saw this thread like me.
I did a search before posting.. didn't find anything on it.. again just tryin to help spread the word

I am reading the complaints and seems like more than half the people signed don't even own the prime. People are mostly mad about the fact that tf700 is released shortly after they bought the prime. Your wrong, people are mostly mad because Asus released a tablet that is flawed and doesnt want to fix the ones already bought by the consumers. A substandard tablet should have never been released to the public if it wasnt up to Asus standards.

I think this is a case of an unfortunately and badly managed time by Asus. With the problems of the Prime it was a bad time to announce a new model which basically addresses all the issues with the Prime and adds more features. Also though it's not going to be out for 5-7 months after the Prime, that's a lot of lead time but it was CES hype.
I'm sure Asus will see and has seen the petition, but honestly I have never seen something like this make a difference. If the issues are this large, speak with your wallet and return it. $$$ makes the world go round.
Wasnt there a petition for a bootloader unlocker with the asus prime to be released and it worked??
@quietas
Maybe your right.. but we can try
Watch at 1 min 45 sec of this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8WsAlUZ9NE. Does anyone else see the irony of praising Jerry Shen as the inventor of the Transformer Prime? Why didn't anyone in the audience boo this guy? I can think of some questions they didn't ask him.
Probably safe that they didnt have any Q&A portion for the reasons of dodging the bullet.

Maybe because Asus officially said there will be no Prime with 3G? And now it just a few weeks away. Or maybe because the Prime should be a premium tablet and now it's just full of bugs? Or maybe because Asus is not putting out clear statements about the problems and what they are going to do about them? And so on...
People have every reason to be angry...
Regards!
Is the petition page down? Having trouble going to the petition site.
If you don't like it, send it back, buy something you do like and stop whining like a spoilt 3 year old.
Just stopped in at BB to check for cases or anything for TP and noticed a sign on the display model showing $449 on clearance. Maybe too many returns or the Infinity is coming out.

noticed that the prime stuff was from 499.99 to 499.95 a little while ago, usually that means its discontinued...
I can only hope the 700 comes out soon so i can sell my prime and get that instead
---------- Post added at 05:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:57 AM ----------
Also, can we please stop making threads like this, its what, the third today? Lock thread anyone?
Did they delete the other thread?
If Transformer Prime being discontinued (or rather quickly being phased out than i anticipated) holds true .....
Why does it feel like I wasted 3/4 month of my life (probably 6 or 7 with the hype & anticipation before the release)!! Oh well, at least it lasted longer over HP Touchpad (sort of..)
Because of Best Buy's latest reported loss and CEO resigning, I'm sure they are always making smart decisions.

If Transformer Prime being discontinued holds true, I don't think it should be deleted or locked. People have the right to know & discuss the situation. And also, it gives warning to those potential Prime purchasers (few that are left in the wild) & the risk that comes with purchasing discontinued product.
The Prime isn't discontinued... it has been confirmed by Asus....

ok, how about this:
THERE HAS BEEN NO CONFIRMATION OR STATMENT REGUARDING THE STATUS OF THE PRIME. ANY POSTS TO THE CONTERARY WITHOUT PROOF IS PURELY SPECULATION. Can we please stop posting rumors?
I agree it would be good for people to know if the prime is being discontinued, my remark to locking the thread was towards the fact that there have been three of these threads already.
I dont want to be rude but seriously, i never said it was discontinued for sure, or it wasnt for sure, all i said is the signs are definately there (which is why so many people are coming up with these threads...)
Actually know what, scratch this, im gonna make a FAQ thread, too many people posting the same crap over and over.... drive me crazy XD

True, but for some reason.. those threads got deleted. Plus, the OP didn't state anything about being discontinued or the status of Transformer Prime. He simply stated that he found a Prime in clearance section.
Oh, and if you exclude HP with HP Touchpad firesale... can you think of any Tablet OEM making a statement for discontinued product?
Here's a snippet of the bestbuy website result on a search on the asus prime.
a price drop for a device after 4 months or so being out is not unusual. its bby no means a fire sale. a fire sale isn't only $100 cheaper. it would be drastically reduced in price if so. like for $299 if they were trying to get rid of them that badly. maybe this is the first hints of price reduction on prime if tf-700 is to be released towards end of the year(as stated by a Jr. Asus manager in an email that was posted before).
maybe best buy has alot of units and that's their sale price for the moment? Who knows? but there aren't any facts to back up prime discontinuation yet. until the fat lady sings, Prime lives on. I'd say if its on sale for that price, people better run to the stores and get this great tablet for that reduced price

Exactly, nobodys going to advertise they are discontinuing a product, the natural progression is old stuff gets discontinued as new stiff comes in.
Also, definitely agree! If you can get a discounted prime, have at er, its a great tablet despite the issues people complain about, very good for games, movies, etc.
Why are all these people so concerned that the Prime is being discontinued anyways?
I own I Prime, I love my Prime.
I've owned Android devices since they first came out (Yes I have a G1 and yes it still actually works).
So what if the Prime is discontinued. I own one. Asus will still support the product (even if they don't want to, I believe the law says they have to).
So what's the big deal?
Just my 2 cents.
Not to add to the speculation because thats no good for anyone, but I purchased my prime about two weeks ago from Nebraska Furnituremart here in Kansas, I was told there were "about 30 in stock". I got the champange that was the only color they had, they also had dock but they were gray. I thought that was strange. Anyway I went back this past week to see if he got any gold docks, the salesman said no but checked to see if he could order me one we both looked at his screen and under thee prime in both colors and dock it read DSC. He told me that meant it was discontinued. So what every it's worth thats been my experience.
As a side note I just read that Toshiba just refreshed their tablet line as well as Samsung is releasing news tablets. It would seem to me if the prime is being phased out, it might be to compete with all these new tablets hitting the market.

No it isn't. it's $499 and hasn't changed. Trust me, when something changes at Best Buy, I will be one of the first to know.

I may have to go down there and see if I can pick up a dock. I too have a a gold Prime, but I'm thinking I may get a grey dock and mix and match.

Glad to see someone from KC on here! BTW I was at the BestBuy on 119th and saw two gray docks in stack as of this afternoon. I was thinking of doing the mix and match thing myself. Good luck.
Just logged on to BB app and took these screenshots. Looks like they are available for in store purchase near me. Still at 499.99.
Prime showed up right away when I searched for tablets and 2nd screenshot show details and in store purchase.

I love NFM, they have all kinds of stuff there! Nice to see a fellow KC'er as well around here.
I just bought a C3 yesterday at BestBuy. They had two in stock. As I was checking out another fella was inquiring. I've been waiting for BB to get one in stock for about 3 weeks now. Finally found one. Great tablet... coming from an ipad1 its a great pairing with my SGS2. Already rooted and unlocked with Virtuous Prime 9.4.2.21 v1. Wifi/GPS seem fine and no screen problems as others have reported. Cleared battery stats and will see how the battery life is.
