EDIT: I wouldn't trust this with all my heart either. As Asus's response is rather fishy and can be interpreted multiple ways.

Part of me wants to believe it. Part of me still cannot explain the reported wifi issues on that chinese forum.
Do we know if this statement covers Canada as well? My Amazon.ca pre-order still shows Jan 31st as the expected ship date (ordered on Nov 26).

Hopefully. If the NCIX email was false then we (Canada) should be back on track. However, the Amazon delay is a stock issue rather than a delay as far as I know.
I'm in no way trying to be a mod, but was this thread needed? Was there not a thread posted earlier in regards to the phandroid and androidcentral articles based on the other thread where someone posted their letter from NCIX? Either way even though the rep used very loose words if you can read in between the lines, it pretty much falls in line with what I said. US is most likely on track still, just not a huge initial alotment. As an aside, these forums seemed to be going crazy today. I guess everyone is really anxious over the Prime, which they ought to be, and every article or piece of information regarding it, is driving everyone to the edge. We all need to just do whatever we usually do to relax and just enjoy talking about the tablet we are all looking forward to while we wait.

Thank you, although I know I got on ur case in another thread..lmao I ran out of thanks. THIS IS THE FIRST ARTICLE THAT ACTUALLY HAS INFORMATION FROM THE HORSES MOUTH. The words that came out of the horses mouth, Asus, said there is no delay and they still on track for Dec. 19th release. Also verge, is thinkn theres no real widespread wifi issue.
I'm not by far an android fanboy. That person wouldn't own an iPad like I do. I'm a fan of technology in general. No matter the maker. It's just that this device is very promising and has already be said, by several big name sites, to be the best Android tablet by far, so far. To many people trying to nit pick negative info and rain on peoples parade and excitement of this new device which will be a first of it's kind in more ways than one. the majority of people who preordered still stickn with it.
Mission failed at trying to scare the real tech heads away from this device.
That's it... to much BS floating around here, and not enough facts... which is fine, but there are threads popping up every few minutes now about the release date... we need a moderator on this forum... Be putting this off for a while, but I'm volunteering.
See you on the flip side, and hopefully I'll be able to clean some of this crap up.

Actually this thread was needed.. With all the unofficial rumor threads going around. This first article to state official Asus statement saying there is no delay and basically no widespread wifi issues. You have new people checking out this forum section and see all these rumor threads/negative ones and it might deter them from a great device.
Not everyone smart enough to read in-between the lines. It's obvious that slot of people here will believe anything, with no official source to back it up. I'm like you though, I'm ready to relax. Once I get my tablet n everything fine, I'll be sitting back laughing at all these mofos so quick to jump to conclusions. They never gave the prime a fair trial. Innocent until proven guilty. They already giving out guilty verdict without no real evidence that's relevant enough. Lol

I would, but I sold my Galaxy Tab 10.1 to buy the TP... so I'm jonesin' man, I need a fix! Just a minute, just let me play with the tablet for a minute! Or even look at it! Just to get me over the hump... c'mon man, I'm hurtin' here!
...ok, but no, really, I hadn't realized how much a tablet had changed my technology habits until I no longer had one. Crazy how a device I wasn't quite sure how I was going to use became, in such a short time, my go-to device.

I feel you, I sold my TF to get the Prime and I'm just waiting myself. I try to keep my mind occupied and not think about it. Although everyday I check my order status on Newegg. lol
I'll believe it when Asus mentions something on an official channel.
Since all this speculation is the only entertainment I have as I study for finals i will play devil's advocate here.
That statement from asus is about as vague as it comes. we still "show" to be on schedule? If they are on schedule why not say they ARE on schedule to be released? Why beat around the bush?
Also the whole I will provide an update when i have more information? What more information are you waiting for if there is no delay? I thought you had the information and knew what you were talking about?
Finally why is there absolutely no actual reference to the delay or wifi issue? A simple, no there is no wifi issue, no there is no delay would allay everyone's concerns, but instead all we have is a very vague statement that does not fully dispel anything.
MUAHAHA let the war begin!
But really I think I may have been the first to post about the possible delay when I received an email from memory express stating there was some sort of production delay. Since then it only seems like NCIX has mentioned this to their customers so something weird is going on. It is odd that both retailers would mention a production delay if they were not told that was the case. But really it seems like the possibilities are there is some small problem with a few units (perhaps like the anandtech reviewers received, as in actually broken units) and asus happens to be reducing the units NCIX and memory express are getting. Or they simply do not have enough to fullfill all orders and are cutting out units from NCIX and memory express to fulfill other orders and then NCIX and memory express are lying to us.
I honestly believe the first is probably the most likely as I cant imagine first off memory express and NCIX both choosing to lie to their customers like that (and in my email they were actually quite explicit saying the Asus Vice President for North America Sales and Distribution contacted them about the delay. That is a pretty blatant lie to be telling customers.
Either way I'm staying hopeful I will get my unit sometime during the holiday season as I will be in alberta where the taxes I would have to pay is quite a bit lower! So come on anytime before Jan 4th! And hell if it turns out they lied to me about the whole vice president delay blah blah blah I'll give them hell and maybe get something out of it!

This was posted on slashgear's web site sorry I am not allowed to post the web link.
Late last night rumors hit the street that the ASUS Transformer Prime had been delayed and I’m sure a few were saddened by such news. After almost every online retails has sold out of the new quad-core slate we were quick to reach out to ASUS for an official response and have good news to report. According to our sources everything is on track and as planned.
Slashgear reported the samething
http://www.slashgear.com/asus-puts-delay-rumor-to-rest-confirms-transformer-prime-is-on-schedule-10201473/
So apparently some ASUS phone rep claimed deliveries are not delayed, what a shock. The loyal minions are will take this as some sort of official guarantee from Mr. Asus.
The level of baseless negativity here astounds me. It's almost as if people want to believe the thing will arrive 6 months late and is a piece of crap.

Guys, I totally agree with the two main points of discussion:
1) I am so pissed that when I pre-ordered the Prime on Nov 22 and wasnt given a date (officially and unofficially) I was expecting it in my hands immediately. And now to find out that the date is Dec 19 is such a disappointment to me. Why wherent my unfounded expectations met?!?!?! I will take my business elsewhere out of hatred for Asus for letting me down even! HOW DARE THEY!
2) the Battery/speaker sucks! OMG!!!! How come that thing I dont have doesnt have that thing I thought/wanted! Its like come on, give me everything I want IMMEDIATELY! I want it to feed my dog, wipe my ass, and give me a rubbie! UH! THE BATTERY IS 10:02 Hours instead of 10:15!?!?! WTF FUFUFUFUFUF ASUS! The speaker on this thin ass tablet is not fit well? WTF! I plan on using this tablet as my home stereo!
ASUS, HOW DARE YOU NOT MEET MY IDIOTIC EXPECTATIONS WITH A PRODUCT THAT ISNT SHIPPED OR IN MY HAND?!?!?!?!?!
/sarcasm. ill sit here and wait for my shipment. gracias.
EDIT: made to help the humor-less nerds understand
I laughed when I saw the tread title then even more so from reading your post. I was like oh lord, here we go again..lmfao. Your post basically summarizes what most complaints have been about. Glad to see it was a joke, a good one at that.
You have to admit speaker placement blows and wasnt thouht out very well at all.

You know what was a REAL let down?
Your mom.
I'm disappointed with the placement and look of the camera and flash on the back of the Prime. It kinda looks like one of these faces
So now every time I'm going to look at it, I'm going to think my Prime is giving me a goofy look and it'll make me self conscious. I have enough problems already without being judged by my tablet.
I was hoping the Prime would cure Cancer and wipe out all traces of AIDS. I was wrong.

Why send a negative voice? For those who don't know better and sees the title is likely gonna turn away from buying it. I know its suppose to be sarcastic, but.. anyway.
I was hoping that this thread would be filled with whiners and canceling their orders so I can get mine quicker!
Nice Job OP
I love this tablet and my biggest complaint is that I can't get it fast enough.
That said, why do some people get weird when we discuss a product, it's good and bad points? After all nothing is going to be perfect. Nothing is expected to be perfect. Those of us that are criticizing the speaker are just labeled "whiners"? Come on, it's just a discussion. Nothing to get snarky about.
Guess what, the Transformer Prime is NOT perfect. It's incredibly awesome in my opinion, I need it now. But I think it's okay for me to wish the speaker was better and pray the battery is decent as well.
By far the biggest problem is that I don't have the damn thing my hands yet!!
Plain and simple....if you want a product made the way you want it, build it yourself. Invest the money that it would take and build yourself a tablet. Then as you contemplate what to include in your build, you'll notice that you can't put this or that in it, and then you end up right where the manufacturers are: the tablet you tried to build that was already built.

On a semi-serious note, I think the only problem with people complaining about the speaker(s) is that, so far, nobody here has actually HEARD it (them). And the reviews are all over the map: one said the sound is "full and loud" or somesuch, while another said the sound is disappointing (or somesuch), and the others seem to fall somewhere in between. So, we can't go by the reviews, meaning we'll have to wait to get the thing to judge for ourselves.

Exactly, it confirms what people were told by a company that is not ASUS. This is like fourth hand at this point.
It says nothing about whether or not the wifi angle is true, or if it affects all NA suppliers, or what.
I saw that article and immediately got a little annoyed because it'll just fan the flames of speculation without adding anything to the conversation (i.e. - a source).

Well obviously we NEVER get any official word from Asus. So rumours are all we can rely on.

You can speculate all you want, that's all there really is to do on an enthusiast forum before the device is released, but presenting speculation as fact... THAT is stupid, and that's the problem here and with the androidcentral article.
The blogger states he is using a review unit. If you follow the link, he did a full review here:
http://www.androidcentral.com/asus-transformer-prime-review
There is some serious denial and fanboism here. First, some say that reviewers would be commenting on the Wifi issues if there were any Wifi issues. Then when the reviewers do just that, there is more denial.
It is correct that this issue may not show up in retail units, but this review is completely relevant, unless you prefer to bury your head in the sand.
Oh well. Works for me. Since I figured I wouldn't get once after I didn't preorder, I got a Galaxy S2 last nite. I'll get the Prime whenever it releases.
I did add "may" be delayed lol on the OP. Dont get all your panties in a bunch. If this rumor holds to be true i wouldnt mind having to wait after my experience with a borked wiFi ipad2 i received during its own initial launch.

I feel the same way. The so called readers who tipped them were probably the people here that are whining about some rumor. Honestly getting tired of seeimg these pointless threads. A form of trolling in a sense. A lot of members here must work for apple or competing companies cuz lots of newer members/low post counts have been trying to down the device, find something to complain about, or scare people away from device by title of threads which are misleading. FunnY, I mean as far as wifi is concerned also.
Does Asus ever post official stuff on their website.. I never see a name linked to said things Asus said.. Could be the janitor over heard from the other janitor who heard it from a airduct that some guy in a suit said..
Just came across this:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/12/asus-delays-transformer-primes-release-until-wifi-fix-is-found/
I'm hoping the source is unreliable but...it's not looking good. Although it seems strange to me no press release and the only source is some guy named "George". It does seem a bit strange too that they came out just yesterday claiming no delay. It is of note that this article references Asus Canada, so it may be possible that they only have so many to go around after a QC check of their inventory and are cutting out Canada as a quick easy way of dividing up who will get filled orders and who will see delays. So...who knows. Just thought I'd share...
UPDATE: Update:*We heard back from ASUS US and were told the Prime is still scheduled for release the week of 12 / 19.
So...who knows. Just thought I'd share for others like me eagerly waiting and wondering...

No, Asus hasn't confirmed it! They "received confirmation from ASUS Canada via one of our tipsters" that there was a delay. It's probably from one of the jokers who got the email from NCIX, which was also not confirmed by Asus. Don't fall into the hype! They are trying to drive up sales! Now, the smart thing to do would be to sell your Prime that you successfully got on time from pre-order for $1000+ because everyone thinks there is a shortage.
Like an energizer bunny...
Keeps going and going and going...
Engadget has to know that this is old news and has already been proven fake by other sites linked in there comments, I bet they love the drama and attention as they always seem to blindly start trouble.

They are trying to drive up the hype be releasing rumours that their device has Wifi problems?...
I don't know one way or another but this thread should be closed, Engadget used the exact same language as the NCIX email which is a Canadian company. It seems Engadget did not search the internet before posting this, notice how they put in an update about the ASUS denial. I won't fault the OP but a new rumor of an old rumor denied is a waste of precious minutes of our life
Since no one seems to be reading the links, here's what Engadget said...
If you were hoping to get you hands on a Transformer Prime this month, prepare to be disappointed. After hearing rumors of the ASUS slate's delay due to Wifi issues, we've now received confirmation from ASUS Canada via one of our tipsters. The company says that "the WiFi range on the TF201 did not meet our quality standards" and that it will not release the product until the wireless is up to snuff. In order to combat the issue, ASUS "will be implementing a new solution," though it declined to elaborate on what the solution would be. Naturally, no timetable for the Transformer Prime's release was provided either. So, if you jumped on the pre-order, let us know if you've heard the same song and dance from ASUS in the comments below.
[Thanks, George]
Update: We're aware that ASUS US has said that the Transformer Prime release is still on schedule. We've reached out to the company and we're awaiting word on the issue.
As online media rags go, Engadget's one of the more reputable ones. If they're quoting something from the company, even off-the-record via a tipster, it's got to have some validity. After all, the company knows what they've said and haven't said, so it's not like it's going to fly under the radar. It's one thing to say from an anonomyous source and another to say from "the company."
The real question is why does it appear that Asus Canada's not OK with the current Wi-Fi implementation and Asus U.S. is when I'd imagine they both share the same stock?
Oh well, will you look at that, Engadget updated their original story (twice) to say that Asus reached out to them directly and said the device is on track for release the week of 12/19.
Now my only question is, will that be arriving in our hands by then, or shipping from retailers. Because if it ships then I'm going to have to change my ship-to address...
dump.

What display unit are you talking about, as if there is only one? Are you talking about this one?

...The wifi on the demo unit at GameStop definitely was fluctuating wildly both times I played with it, I had assumed the signal just sucked, but I didn't compare to my phone.
Besides, the article said "the WiFi range on the TF201 did not meet our quality standards" which is not the same as just connecting to Wifi.

Wonder why they didn't leave both updates, better yet wonder why they did not just pull the story, this kind of sensationalism and running up hit and comment counts is irritating to me so I will not be going to engadget for say... 6 months
now I have wasted a full ten minutes on this
Here we go again. Engadget may be credible but word from Asus themselves weighs more. Plus sounds like rehashed news engadget now just catching on to. As you saw their updates. I'd be more inclined to think maybe Canada supply n U.S. Supply were built at different times or from different batches. Canada may have been receiving batch with more units not up to par with wifi quality. U.s. Batch seems to be in good standing s still as release date is only 1 week away for GameStop.

This is what I am thinking as well. From memory express to me about the delay
Originally we were supposed to get them on the 6th of December. According to Asus they are shipping on the 15th which means in theory we should have them on or after Christmas day.

So seems like a fairly small delay for at least some retailers in Canada.
Now, BGR reposts Engadget's story, but without the correction. So, now there are TWO major sites having reported on already-debunked information. Pretty soon, it'll become "fact"...
Tech reporting is simply terrible. Just terrible.
Edit: I say this about tech reporting even if in this instance the story turns out to be true. BGR is a big enough site without enough clout that ASUS would respond to them. So, if they were going to do real reporting, they should wait until they can confirm with ASUS rather than just rehashing what Engadget says.
ASUS really should have done a better job communicating the launch plans to it's customers. It seems like we've been relying on rumors and information from retailer customer service reps. It's no wonder we keep hearing all kinds of conflicting information coming from so many different sources except the one source that really matters.
People are following package trucks and if no one answers and they leave it they will steal your package.

Atleast I got your post count up by one. I just heard it on the news just thought Id let people know that are getting it shipped.

What, on Faux News? I usually enjoy the odd thread, but this one truly is useless.
I also hear that if we have a nuclear holocaust it might delay the Prime launch.
O Noes!!

Said Mr. Pot to Mr. Kettle. You should have put the thread title in all caps. That would have made it even more inflamatory and likely to get people to read it. And there's no more risk of packages left without signature being stolen today then before you saw a news story. Unless of course this post and the news story put the idea in people who otherwise wouldn't have thought about's heads.

i waited all day for a few packages and he didn't even come by.. but labeled all the shipments as "first attempt made" cause he wanted to go home and skip me

Or when they delivered $1500 printer in original box, with make, model, picture, etc on the box. They didn't feel like lifting it up 1 flight of stairs and left it by the door or a private house. And this is not in suburbia. It was basically sitting on a Brooklyn street.
Actually this is how my wifes Black Friday transformer was left and it has worried me since then. Since when was signature not required he norm.
Hey all if you don't mind giving me your address and estimated ship date I'll come by your place and "watch" for the package for you!!!!

i don't know why everyone has this idea like every thread should be should be something special.
i for one am glad to know this, i doubt it will happen to mine, but ill be extra careful.
blaziner, no offense but you are definitely the worst offender when it comes to creating pointless threads...lol. I will give you credit though, some of them have been oddly, and I mean very oddly, well received. You created the 'your hype level' thread, no? That was maybe the most pointless thread I think that I have ever seen created in all of my many many years on the Internet and yes I was an adult when the Internet first became popular (barely). That said people seemed to like it and wanted to come by and say how hyped they were on a scale from 1 to 10. How can you argue with that? Carry on my pointless friend.
I should qualify this post with the fact that I have also seen some constructive posts from you as well. Maybe not threads but at least a few posts. And I don't mean this post as an insult in any way either. I know it can sound that way sometimes on these internets.
Pretty sure the world ending would void the warranty, as that is an "Act of God" and specifically excluded from coverage.

You're thread crapping and you have the nerve to talk about pointless threads and invaluable contributions? This coming from a member with 39 posts in a one year span? Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the rules and regs before you decide to post replies like this. XDA no likey thread crappers.

Well I was told to go elsewhere to complain about Asus and the problems I am having with the $680 64Gb prime I bought. So since Diamondback is getting tired of closing threads and deleting posts, I decided on starting a thread were people who need or want to vent can come and vent. And to be fair if you have good things to say about Asus or your Prime please share it here.
As I have tried to say before I like my Prime but am getting tired of the problems that have not been fixed or pop up after an update is released..
I think the gps dongle, while a nice gesture was a misstep for Asus. I would have just taken that on the chin. The hardware/software problems that have not been resolved are far worse. I don't give a s- about gps. Again, nice move on their part, but the dongle does me zero good if the damn thing crashes and freezes. I'll take the wifi issues, it's not that bad. Just give me a functional f'n unit that doesn't run slower than my ibm 286. \rant
There is a class action suit going on. I was actually contacted today by one of the lawyers doing it. You can email [email protected] and tell him you want to be apart of it.
I miss the complaint thread. At least there was the hope that Asus would actually read their own thread, which ended up not being the case.
Better hurry up, this one will probably closed to.
Bout to pack bags from XDA with all of this crap. Its a shame.
All were looking for is answers.

its the same lawsuit but its not going anywhere really. The case against Asus isnt strong. Its likely to get thrown out before it even really begins. Hence the reason no official filing has even been done yet. This is just something someone "Wants" to bring against asus. Nothing thats actually happening or going on yet.

Absolutely true.
Asus took the easy way out by sending us a 4 dollar piece of plastic and wire, instead of working on the actual issues.
Since i see demandarin posting in this thread, so much for your update prediction. This is getting totally ridiculous. , and Asus seems fine with it.I have bought so much Asus stuff over the years, i will be rethinking that, after the prime fiasco,

Class action suits are awesome for all lawyers involved and the original filer. No one added to the class gets anything useful.

That's really your personal opinion on the matter. How it unfolds.. I guess we'll have to just wait and see (we won't find out until few yrs later anyways). Btw, what do you mean by no "official" filing?

What else do you need?? What's more official?
You sir are mistaken.

This is not correct, the papers were filed over two months ago, the case is strong and will move forward in good time. ASuS as already been to two informal hearing at the various law firms involved when they were in CA. And as stated in previous post, you can let the team know that you'd like to be a part if they need anymore actual users of this product to appear in court. I've been watching mr. demandarin for quite some time and I'm sorry to say, but I feel he is either privileged by ASUS or just a tireless fan boy. Nothing wrong with enjoying a product and company that as serviced you to your satisfaction, but most of us that have kept quite for some time have followed long and tedious arguments that involved this individual. I give credit where credit is due but do not idolize any company, person, device or anything else so I can be a little more unbiased when assessing a situation. If you are unhappy with a product, this is the place to seek help, and if you can get a actual rep to listen, good for you! If you can't, then it's time to take legal action and get louder so that others are protected from having the same treatment as you. So by all means, follow the previous posters advice, seek out legal action. It will be funny to see how many fans will have their hand's out for the settlement money when it is awarded. Mark my words.
Thanks
I am glad to see that this tread is getting used. I also want to thank all who posted here as I have learned more about what is going on and what people are looking for. I have learned that I am not the only one who wants a stable working Prime over a GPS dongle.
I also would like to know if anyone has tried to use a Huawei E369 Datacard with their Prime. I have read that the Huawei 17xx was working but would like to buy the newest one out that will work so it will last at least 5 years before it becomes outdated.
I've noticed as of late that asus has stfu about everything. I realize that Gary was sick, but "official posts" are becoming fewer and farther between. They are going into defense mode. They know they are sol to fix the issues without having to put out a full recall which is a huge embarrassment and going to cost them an arm and a leg, plus street cred. It's getting to end game folks. They better be brewing a software miracle, or an overall solution. I think a lawsuit has legs with the horrible performance, Dongle be damned.
I would think a class action lawsuit has a foothold. There is absolutely no way that Asus did not know about the wifi and GPS issues when they launched. They got caught up in the "iPad killer" hype and wanted to get them out by Christmas. The lack of advertising by Asus and the retail establishment is icing on the cake.
Funny thing is that I picked up a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 for my birthday last week and it is snappier than my Prime (especially when browsing and installing from the Play store)
The lack of updates is disconcerting as well. Perhaps there are no further firmware/software fixes for this device.
It is simply a small blip on the Android Tablet radar that will go down in history as a complete and utter failure.

There has been a ton of discussion about this just today, problem is it keeps getting shut down, either by reported posts, or, over zealous mods, either way, the ends the same
The mysterious , unreleased firmware should be telling everybody something, the og transformer has had the update to .24 for quite sometime, the prime testers have had it for at least 2 weeks or more, one in particular gave today as a release date, even though some of those testers are reporting good results, I'm not buying it. If it was ready for prime time it would have dropped. It seems like I have new issues pop up every day, or the same issues manifesting in different ways
I have multiple issues with prime, i am going to ask Asus for a refund, probably more than ask, and go with something else, other tegra 3 tablets available, and the A700 and thrive are getting rave reviews, They certainly can't be worse than the Prime, and i doubt they will go backwards with no explanation like the prime.Asus is going to lose my business for sure
I have 2 different PM's to both Asus_usa and Gary key, for 2 and a half days now, so far no response yet, for dedicated forum support, thats unacceptable.

opps... didnt see someone posted the link to the filing. lol But If anything comes from it remains to be seen..
All I want is the browser sped up and I would be perfectly happy. Gary mentioned that there would be an upgrade to browsing in the new firmware but after this much time it leads you to think that it must be a hardware issue. Although Asus has always been outed by other sources before they give out any real information.
I bought a top of the line Android Tablet and I swear my girlfriends Kindle browses the internet faster.
It is also odd to see that new post the other day about the Asus Nexus Tablet. It is hard to believe that they would be able to meet Demand or Expectations after all of the Prime problems.
Yea I am getting tired closing all your threads....
What's so hard about posting in existing threads?
I understand that you want answers, I want them too, but making new threads each day complaning about the issues won't get you any answers...
Gary doesn't answer in threads, so maybe the situation will change with the new guy - Asus_USA - but until then please use the existing threads.
