[Poll] What base do you prefer for phenomenal kernel? - Galaxy S II Android Development

I want open this thread to know if you prefer phenomenal 1.0/1.1 based on speedmod k-16 or phenomenal 2.0 based on speedmod k-18.
Some users wrote that prefer phenomenal 1.0/1.1 in battery.
My goal is find best balancment between performances and battery life
What do yo think?

ps: remember that phenomenal 1.1 is like a phenomenal 1.0 medium

Arghh! sorry

to be honest i couldn't notice a significant difference between 1.0 Extreme and 2.0 Extreme (so maybe you could add a third, neutral answer to the poll). but this poll is going to be very subjective as phones can behave completely different with another ROM/kernel combination, so why don't you do it like you are doing it already and offer both alternatives (k2-16 and k2-18)? of course only if this is not taking too much of you time, then i would suggest to stick with the latest speedmod and people who get bad battery life out of the newest phenomenals can stay on the older ones until there is a better one for them.

[Q] Best overall ROM/Kernel with customization

Hey everybody recently obtained a Samsung Vibrant, looking for the best rom with UV/OC capabilities and some mods, perhaps.
I flashed two I897's (rogers branded) with quite good results untill i had to make the download mode device due to a AT&T / Rogers compatability issue concerning a stock rom and then custom rom with a not-so-working kernel
So I'm asking for some assistence in the rom/kernel department here and what works best... I love big flashy roms but would take something bland if the battery life and speed was enhanced greatly speed over battery though and 3D wouldn't hurt either.
Cheers, Red Hazy
Most GB roms including CM7 and MIUI have terrible battery life but excellent performance. If your looking for superior battery life flash Bionix 1.3.1 with overstock 2.4.1 kernal. Otherwise try as many different roms as possible to see which one is best for your needs.

The GB/CM7 based ROMs can be fast, but the battery life is horrid. I'd recommend any of the 2.2.1 ROMs myself, either my new one (plug), or for something more proven, Bi-Winning V3. Combine that with Bali-X and you can overclock or undervolt to your heart and battery's content. If you (and your phone) can handle more than a 1.2ghz overclock, there are other kernels that can do that as well.

Flashing kernel over VillainRom 3.0

Hi folks, this is my first post so go easy on me if it's in the wrong place
I've been researching custom roms/kernels for hours today & yesterday, but need more advice. I initially had my sights set for cyanogenmod as it seems to remove most of samsung's bloatware, I love the minimal look and I'd like to have a pure android UI, but I've read so many posts on various sites now that it kills battery life.
So now I'm very interested in VillainRom 3.0 as this seems very stable and I think removes many of samsung's less than necessary apps & processes. Villain comes with the Ninphetamine 2.0.5 kernel, but is this the best combination? Could I flash a different kernel after installation to find better results for speed, stability & battery life? The CF-root, speedmod and Tiamat (withSuper Battery Charger) kernels all sound very promising...
I'd still like to use cyanogenmod if anyone can shed light on getting it running well, especially if the latest nightly is stable-ish with good performance.
I'd be interested to hear any other recommendations for battery saving roms, I'm aware it's a very subjective subject, but what I'm mainly looking for is increased battery life, stability and a reduction of unnecessary apps/processes (suppose this goes hand-in-hand with battery saving). And I don't mind quite a plain UI, I think the standard android without extra themes is quite stylish.
Thanks for reading!
Here are my phone details:
Samsung Galaxy S2 - GT-I9100
Android Version 2.3.5
Baseband - I900XXKI4
kernel - 2.6.35.7-I9199XWKJ1-CL647431 [email protected] #2
firmware -PDA:KJ1 / PHONE:KI4 / CSC:KJ1 (O2U)
CSC - I9100O2UKJ1
PS. I just read that SavagedZen kernel works well with CM7+, is this kernel designed for phones with a battery expansion? can it be installed after CM or is it included?
Thanks again for reading
ok i went with the latest CM nightly build, so far so good. Gonna start a new thread as this one is no longer about the villainrom

Custom Kernel which is Battery Friendly

Hi guys,
I've been using many kernels now, Siyah, Franco, Yank.555, NEAK. Etc. But They all used up my battery like crazy! lost 8 % in 20m thats not good, Mind that i wasn't doing anything, it was just on screen lock. Now i've read that media scanner could be in wakelock to use so much battery but how do i see this? And my main question is, what is the best kernel for battery use but balanced with stock performance? I've heard phenomenal would be good, but i rather ask before installing another kernel by now.
I'm running sotmax ultimate stock v14 for gt-19300XXELLA jelly bean 4.1.2
Thanks in advance
It's against the rules to ask that
Why don't you try stock kernel? I have a good battery life. Try to close all battery-sucking apps like Facebook,Istagram and stuff like that.
I don't exactly think it's up to the kernel to save battery life. I'm using siyah, but, to give you an example, its battery saving features are undervolting. Meaning you can either make it have top performance, or set it to the highest battery saving setting.
Best kernel, best rom, and hottest chick in the world threads are not allowed as they are all subjective

What is YOUR best ROM for gaming?

NOTE: This is not the usual "what is the best ROM?" thread. This is a collection of personal opinions of gamers like myself to find out what current ROM works best for you and is not based on just a benchmark number. Please include your reason why and any relevant information that you would like to include.
Viper 3D
I am not absolutely sure, but when I experimented with Viper 3D ROM from Team Venom (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991150 ), when I was reading through the thread, I saw someone said that it is the best ROM in case of gaming performance. Compared with Galaxy S3 than on Evo he had better results in FPS than on S3. So I don't know if this will help you somehow, but you should give it a try.
Can't say for sure either, but I've been trying a couple of Roms. More than the Rom, the Kernel seems to make a difference for Games.
Anyhow, I found to get really good results with the Sensai Rom when I use the Buttered Toast Kernel @1566mhz. You can save your battery and not overclock the GPU as that really didn't ever result in much performance increase.
I believe I had the best experience with the infamous Anthrax Kernel, though it was also draining battery like a hog and wouldn't run quite as stable as the Buttered Toast Kernel does. Either way, I'd say mostly stick to the Rom you like in terms of Featureset and try switching through Kernels, that's what mostly game me the biggest performance gains. (My personal favourite: Buttered Toast)

EliteKernel

I've used both EliteKernel for stock jb(ARHD8/Insertcoin) as well as for Kitkat(Carbon/PA). I feel that it makes the phone much slower than the kernel that comes with the rom. Battery life very marginally increases. But when I read the comments in the EliteKernel page, everyone gives only positive reviews! Am i doing something wrong here??
I had the same experience, if you want to get maximum of it after flashing a kernel, I guess you should tune it up with some scripts.
