Android XBMC remote and WiFi hotspot? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Windows 7 pc with XBMC installed, and I want to use the android XBMC remote app to control it.
Now here is the problem, I do not have a router, instead I connect to the internet using my android phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) as a hotspot.
So now to my question.
Is it possible to somehow use the phone to control XBMC while at the same time using the same phone as a wifi hotspot.
I guess that would be the only solution to my problem, becouse without the phone acting as a hotspot, I have no internet connection to the PC what so ever?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] How to connect to a WIFI DVD player

Hello all,
I have been using my hd2 as a wifi router without issue with my desktop pc or my old macbook. I've even been able to watch netflix on them this way.
But I can't seem to get my Sony WIFI enabled dvd player to connect to the phone. The player sees the phone but will not connect. Any suggestions???
Thanks,
Scott

Does your Sony DVD Player support a ADHOC connection? The HD2 only uses a ADHOC connection when using it for a WiFi Router.
ADHOC is a computer to computer connection so it may not support this type of connection.
If you find out it does not support ADHOC, then there might be a work around. It will be a little bit of a pian in the rear but hey it is a work around. If you have a USB port or a Eithernet port on your Sony DVD player you can use your laptop to connect to the DVD player either via USB cable or Eithernet cable and select allow other computers to access the internet via your laptop and then set the connection up on your DVD player and you will have internet access. Sony PlayStation 3 owners have to do this to use the WiFi of a HD2 as it does not support ADHOC connections. With your DVD player being Sony I bet it is the same.
Thank you
You were right, it did not support the ADHOC. It took me a little while but I got it working.
Thank you so much, I really like using all of my unlimited-as slow as it might be at times.

[Q] Archos -> BT -> Laptop -> Internet

All,
I have the following situation:
I have a laptop that has a wired internet connection and I have a Archos Gen 8 tablet. The laptop and Archos both have bluetooth. The laptop is running Windows 7 Ent. and the Archos is running the latest stock firmware (2.4.19 / Android 2.2)
What I want to do:
I want to connet my Archos to the BT of the laptop and then use the laptop's internet connection to access the internet.
Does anyone know a solution for this? Searching google only results in tethering a tablet to a mobile phone or tether a laptop to a mobile phone.
Regards,
Johan
If your laptop use wire internet why don't you just buy a router and use a wireless to connect you Archos. Don't have to looking for a hard work man...
Another hand, you can access internet anytime without turn on you laptop.

Steven,
Thanks for the reply, but the problem is that I cannot plug in a wireless router in the places I want to use this solution (mainly at work).

Johan

Connect your laptop with a wired connection and use your laptop as a wireless hot spot:

I've done this before and it works, similar to the poster above me!

[Q] PC bluetooth dongle internet sharing with tf201

Hi there,
I've look in the other topic before starting this one as the others didn't treat about the same things.
I'm under windows 7 on my computer, I recently had a bluetooth dongle (bluetooth 4.0 dongle) on my computer.
What I want to do is to use my internet connection (cable) of my computer with my tf201 using a bluetooth connection.
I can pair the computer and the tf201 but I didn't have the possibility to use the internet acces whereas I have PAN service avalaible in my computer on the option with the tf201.
Did someone already do that and can help me doing all the necessary so I can do this sharing ?
I notice that the virtual PAN network is indicated as a cable network (I don't understant why but I suppose it's the way it work under windows)...
I hope someone could help.
See you.
No one can help me ?

use transformer prime as a hotspot for laptop/ps3

to stream videos from windows 7 to my ps3?
not using the internet just using the prime's hotspot feature
Why do you want to use the tfp as hotspot instead of just setting up an ad-hoc connection on your windows 7 machine and connect your ps3 directly to it!
I don't understand why someone would want to use the prime as a hotspot. it as no cellular data and any device you would point to your prime could obviously hook up to what ever wireless ap your prime would have. am i missing something here?

? again, I want to stream media from my laptop on to my ps3. I notice the prime has a hotspot feature so me not being tech swavy I figured I connect the laptop to the prime and the ps3 to the prime to share media
Like I said you don't need the prime your laptop has a hotspot feature as well. Just go to the network center add a connection create an ad-hoc connection give it a name and password done. Now connect your ps3 to the network and start streaming.

[Q] Use USB tethering and connect as LAN from another device possible?

OK so I have two android devices, a phone and a tablet. My tablet is the new NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet. I have a horrible old slow router, so gamestream doesn't work well. I was wondering if there was some way to use my phone as a router of sorts. My pc doesn't have wifi so I have to use USB tethering. Is there any way to use USB tethering on my phone, and connect to a LAN network via wifi on my table typo to my pc for game streaming, just like through a regular wifi modem? My phone is a Galaxy s4 on AT&T. Both android devices are rooted with stock roms.
