[Q] HDMI Mirroring resolution screwed up - Motorola Photon 4G

So after a few months of stock, i jumped into some of the roms available for the Photon. Kudos to the Devs, I enjoyed your work. But I decided to come back to stock because of stability, and the HDMI mirroring which I use a lot for Netflix.
Now that I am back to stock, it seems that the resolution of the HDMI output has been reduced. I am not filling up the screen with a full 1080p, the aspect ratio is wrong and netflix no longer fills up the whole screen. I did flash jokers latest rom that has the new version of webtop.
However I flashed 198-7 with RSDLite and that should have brought me back to stock, no? is there something i need to do to get this working properly?

So, you did an SBF back to stock, and this is what is happening? Also, you are using the same TV, same app, and same everything as before, and you are getting a different result right? I just want to make sure.
It's possible that even though you reverted everything back to stock, there was still a file that was edited to change your resolution. I would try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198230. Hopefully.

That's for webtop. I think he is talking about simple mirroring. If you flashed the sbf, then that would fix it. What resolution is your TV listing as the input? I had the same problem last weekend. Didn't do anything memorable. Was stuck at 480p. reset data, redid the sbf. Finally, after giving up, I thought I would try switching the hdmi cable from port two to port one (in the tv). It worked fine. I then switched back to the way it was, and it worked fine. I apparently had somehow loosened the cord I think.
Just a thought.

[Q] HDMI on Atrix 2.3.4 ROM -- howto get it back?

I am thoroughly pleased so far with the 2.3.4 atrix rom on my x2. The only thing i am lacking @ this point which i didnt notice till i went to watch a movie last night was no HDMI options in settings....
Is there anyway to go about getting this back?
I have the HDMI option in settings but when I use Netflix on my phone and hook it up to my TV the picture is turned on it's end. I cannot seem to find a setting to change that. Never had that problem pre-2.3.4
Yeah that's my only gripe with this ROM at this point, but it's kind of a big deal to me. Hoping for a fix soon.

You're going to need com.motorola.android.mirrorservice from the X2 version.
I feel stupid but i am not seeing HDMI in the settings menu anywhere... Is it labeled the same?
Under settings you should see HDMI. I'm running 0.3 and it's there. I have not made any mods.
Im on .3 as well... not seeing it.. just out of curiosity where did you start, before you flashed it?
It's there on mine as well, but nothing regarding mirroring like the stock x2. Love the ROM, but this blows. I switched to eclipse for this reason, but switched back because the camera is so much better on atrix and I get virtually no force closes.

Well appearantly if you flash from eclipse to the atrix HDMI is not in the settings menu...
I SBF'd back to the OTA gingerbread/rooted/flashed to atrix and HDMI is now there... new options as far as the ouput resolution but no scaling slider..
com.motorola.andoid.mirrorservice wont restore from tb i pushed it there manually but doesnt seem to make a diff.
Sorry this is slightly off topic, but I've have the same basic problem with P3's Pre-Rooted 2.3.3 all along and I'd love to fix it as well (especially since it's supposed to work in DX2's 2.3.3). It's never worked for me (I always got a black screen (no input recognized) when plugged into HDTV since the Gingerbread update). I later enabled portrait mode only by editing the build.prop line "ro.hdmi.mirror.enable=TRUE" (where it was false). As is well-known though, this DOES NOT allow landscape (the picture is sideways on the HDTV when phone is physically in landscape or playing video). I've read this exact case occurring with several 2.3.3 DX2's (as I've done copious amounts of searching on the topic) but I've never found a resolution. Is there any chance there is a known way to fix this? I'd be extremely grateful. Perhaps the fix for the Atrix ROM is related to this problem. Thanks very much in advance!

Ok so if anyone else is missing HDMI in there settings menu.. it may be because of a theme.. i had applied the cyan Icebream blur theme for atrix... once i applied it again the HDMI settings went away... good thing i made a backup before..

[Q]webtop mirror resolution

Hi!
I'm an avid atrix user for some time now.
I browsed and tried most of the roms and mods available on the dev page.
I'm currently sticking with neut 2.6 CM7 rom and everything is splendid except for one thing;
When my phone is in the lapdock, the phone is mirrored quite well and even allows me to playback simple videos, however what bothers me is that it doesn't make use of the full resolution of the screen.
Is there some fix for it?
I tried the original webtop software and I can barely use it for web browsing, not to mention video playback.
Is there some kind of fix for that, some app or mod which I can use?
I tried all sorts of roms, CM9, CM7, MIUI and all sorts of official and modded official ones.
If there are none, what do we lack in terms of development?
It's one of the only things that still bother me with the Atrix.
Thank you for your patience and every piece of help is appreciated.

this is the closest I found, however it doesn't seem to work with nottachtrix, I might be doing something wrong.

ROM that supports HDMI

I am new X2 flashing but not new to flashing. My X2 is running CM7 and I have a Fascinate that is running AOKP (ICS) build 37. So I'm familiar with flashing. All that said I am looking for a ROM with features like CM7 however that supports HDMI and possibly FM radio. The later is not important. Any suggestions?
Not all ROMs will have everything you want. It has been reported that HDMI works on CM9. But then you're losing a lot of other stuff. Try Eclipse. Its not Cyanogenmod but I think HDMI works with that. If not, you have to stick with stock.

Thanks. I'll check it out!
Note that someone got HDMI working on CM7. Sadly it went largely unnoticed and thus, undocumented. The fix was not at all complicated; all one had to was set the HDMI value located in the build.prop to 1(true) and you had it.
Dont quote me on the latter part - I realized there was one more thing that needed to be done in order to get it working. I do however know that it doesnt work whilst in landscape mode and videos are iffy.
Btw, before you mess with the build.prop, even though Root Explorer (im assuming thats what you're using) will make a backup, make one of your own to be sure.
have a good one!
On cm7 it was portrait only and no sound. And all you had to do was set hdmi=true in the build prop. Although I wouldn't classify that as working

I ended up flashing Eclipse. HDMI works great! I'm running Go Launcher with an ICS theme. I'm getting alot of redraws of the home screen. Not sure if that is an issue with the ROM or Go Launcher. I think I might Supercharge it to see if that helps with the redraws.

Literally every time I hit the home button on Eclipse with ADW, the launcher would reset. I almost threw my phone away!

Supercharger fixed that for me. I've had zero redraws since supercharging.

Just hdmi=true ?
I tried ro.hdmi.enable=true on Cm9 for the sgh.i777 and got a strange result, the 1st image appears then freezes, but if I play videos out music, works flawlessly

CM10 Jellybean, lapdock webtop and epinter's fantastic CM10

Hi all, i havent bit the bullet yet with this rooting game as the atrix as been plenty fast enough for me box standard, but since getting the lapdock and finding it so painfully slow that I wont use it, I started googling my options, so here i am as it seems that rooting is the answer!
Ive been reading about Jellybean and it sounds like its been designed to work with accessories like the lapdock, that lead me to read the thread about the CM10 rom that epinter is building which sounds brilliant.
I cant ask the Q on that thread because im a noob so can someone tell me if epinters cm10 works with the lapdock or would i need to add things.
thanks
Joe
Epinter's CM10 work with lapdock, but just simple HDMI output, the webtop app isn't work.
only portraite mod

yes and hdmi output doesn t work landspece mod or i didn t find yet
Thanks for the replies guys but just to clarify, your both saying -
The lapdock works?
Well of course it works, however much like CM9 it's only going to mirror the video output from the phone right now. However the auto tablet switch is still broken (from what it sounds like, I'm not on CM10 yet.) and Moto's WebTop is obviously still broken as well.
Personally I'm waiting for a version of Paranoid Android based on CM10. Maybe when that hits I can finally switch modes without having to reboot.

I think i could live with that as the browser on the lapdock is only useable if i use it through the phone rather than its own firefox.
So i would just be losing out on screen resolution.
Does JB still have the bug where on the lapdock you get 10 FPS and on the phone its nice and smooth?
Actually I'm getting decent FPS with Paranoid Android. It's still not great but it's WAY better than it was. The start screen for Need for Speed: Shift and it's pretty good. Galaxy on Fire 2 THD works like I expect it to as well. My guess is that it's been fixed in Joker's latest CM9's and yeah CM10 as well.
I doubt it will be perfect until Moto releases ICS officially though (and hopefully they can use something out of that to help with CM10 too).
do the cm 9 ports have hdmi output

I doubt my lapdock would work if they didn't. Also I've tried the cable with a DVI adapter and that works fine, so yeah.
If you meant CM10, I have no clue yet but I'm getting tired of waiting for a CM10 based parandroid (which is what I'm going to call it for short from now on, because I think it's clever).
I've flashed cm10 and will give my lapdock a try when its charged. The is some mention of changes today but I haven't read the change log.

I just flashed it, didn't even bother with the new gapps yet though. Came over from Parandorid 1.6 and all I did was wiped the caches.
So far no issues but I absolutely HATE the app picker. It was much easier with ICS where you picked it and checked always use if you wanted to. Now you have to pick it and select either just once or always (so two taps instead of one).
Loud sound lapdock
On [ROM] CM10 (JellyBean) for Atrix - 20120729 very loud lapdock sound in mirror mode. What I can do on it?
What do you mean loud? It functions normally for me. Maybe turn down the volume? Sorry you're going to need to be more specific as to what the problem is.

Very loud minimum volume (level 1).
I tried with both the phone speaker and the stereo system I plug it into and I could not replicate the issue on my end, sorry.
You did check all the volume levels right?
Posting a logcat might help someone. I'd mention the issue in the main thread.

So just to make it clear. You dont have webtop with the flashed rom?
Is there an ICS ROM with working webtop yet?
I only use the Atrix with the lapdock in GB. Is there an ICS ROM with proper support or do I have to wait for the official ICS?
NO ONE has webtop with JB, let alone ICS. If they do they're *******s for hiding it from the rest of us.
The devs are working on it. Official ICS *SHOULD* bring it when it hits (if it hits, which I'm sure it's going to it's just taking forever).
What I'd really like to see is companies release all the source code for their "dead" devices. But it will probably be a cold day on Mercury when that happens.
I don't even have a webtop like interface either, nor will I until paranoid android comes out with a modified CM10 of their own. My hope is then that I can switch DPI without having to reboot.

So I'll just stick with 2.3.4 stock, my lapdock working and wait patiently for ICS.

Strange Netflix issue.

so. i have used netflix for quite some time now, and today i noticed something strange, at least to me. i have always seen the regular light grey backed screen, the standard netflix experience. well today, i jumped from meanrom v26 ICS to MIUI. i am running the 3vo cmda, hboot 1.58 s off. my question is, i really like the look of the fancier netflix, and i would like to use that experience instead of the normal one. now this is how i am even seeing this weird version (once again to me, i have never seen this before). i went ahead and did a full meanrom nandroid, and i have bounced back and forth a few times. so i know my backup is fine, i went ahead and nandroided back into my myui nand. i used titanium backup in meanrom to back up all my apps, then i nandroided my myui nand back and signed in and what not. downloaded titanium backup, and proceeded to restore all my commonly used apps for now, until i decide if i am going back to meanrom or not. so i open netflix, and see whats in the first picture. heres where it gets interesting. i can use this netflix experience as much as i want *as long as i do not close netflix*. once i close it, it loads the standard version, which even has a different version build number. no updating from the market, i dont know how this app is being changed. i would like to have the darker nicer looking netflix. does anyone know how to accomplish this? i looked around, and it didnt seem like anyone was really interested in it, or if it has even been noticed.
PS: i can make it go back to that version each time if i do a restore data plus app everytime i want to use netflix. but each time i only get the look once, then its back to the crappy ol version im used to.
ADVANCE: i am staying up all night to adjust to my night shifts coming up, and i am extremely tired. please excuse the blatant lack of punctuation and structure, i am exhausted!
