[Q] HDMI on Atrix 2.3.4 ROM -- howto get it back? - Motorola Droid X2

I am thoroughly pleased so far with the 2.3.4 atrix rom on my x2. The only thing i am lacking @ this point which i didnt notice till i went to watch a movie last night was no HDMI options in settings....
Is there anyway to go about getting this back?

I have the HDMI option in settings but when I use Netflix on my phone and hook it up to my TV the picture is turned on it's end. I cannot seem to find a setting to change that. Never had that problem pre-2.3.4

Yeah that's my only gripe with this ROM at this point, but it's kind of a big deal to me. Hoping for a fix soon.
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk

You're going to need com.motorola.android.mirrorservice from the X2 version.

I feel stupid but i am not seeing HDMI in the settings menu anywhere... Is it labeled the same?

Under settings you should see HDMI. I'm running 0.3 and it's there. I have not made any mods.

Im on .3 as well... not seeing it.. just out of curiosity where did you start, before you flashed it?

It's there on mine as well, but nothing regarding mirroring like the stock x2. Love the ROM, but this blows. I switched to eclipse for this reason, but switched back because the camera is so much better on atrix and I get virtually no force closes.
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk

Well appearantly if you flash from eclipse to the atrix HDMI is not in the settings menu...
I SBF'd back to the OTA gingerbread/rooted/flashed to atrix and HDMI is now there... new options as far as the ouput resolution but no scaling slider..
com.motorola.andoid.mirrorservice wont restore from tb i pushed it there manually but doesnt seem to make a diff.

Sorry this is slightly off topic, but I've have the same basic problem with P3's Pre-Rooted 2.3.3 all along and I'd love to fix it as well (especially since it's supposed to work in DX2's 2.3.3). It's never worked for me (I always got a black screen (no input recognized) when plugged into HDTV since the Gingerbread update). I later enabled portrait mode only by editing the build.prop line "ro.hdmi.mirror.enable=TRUE" (where it was false). As is well-known though, this DOES NOT allow landscape (the picture is sideways on the HDTV when phone is physically in landscape or playing video). I've read this exact case occurring with several 2.3.3 DX2's (as I've done copious amounts of searching on the topic) but I've never found a resolution. Is there any chance there is a known way to fix this? I'd be extremely grateful. Perhaps the fix for the Atrix ROM is related to this problem. Thanks very much in advance!
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium

Ok so if anyone else is missing HDMI in there settings menu.. it may be because of a theme.. i had applied the cyan Icebream blur theme for atrix... once i applied it again the HDMI settings went away... good thing i made a backup before..

[Q] Image issues - thoughts?

I use the camera on my Eris quite often, and as of late I seem to be getting pretty cruddy pics / images out of my little workhorse.
Currently I am running Nonsensikal v15.2 without issues since Sik released it. There's been no water, cold, dropping, ect involved and thought I'd bounce some ideas off you guys to see what what you think.
Here's what ALL of the pictures that I take with the phone look like:
hxxp://lh5.ggpht.com/_evqBnv4L5AI/TRdUEZ3grJI/AAAAAAAAF2I/7zUNHk0M-WM/s640/ERIS_Image.jpg
( looks like I read more than post, please remove the "xx" out of the HTTP for the image to show. )
They all seem to have this "iced" ( ironic huh ) look to them all. If its taken indoors, outdoors, ect...
I've just run Ti Backup on it and am going to flash 16.1 from Sik but Im not sure if its a program issue as until yesterday she's been purring along just fine.
Thoughts?
Sounds like a hardware issue. If you flash another ROM or version and the problem persists, I'd say that's a confirmation that there's a serious problem with the camera hardware and you need to exchange the Eris if that's an option.
Little Update and a sorta fix -
OK - I flashed 16.1, and it still had the same issue - I flashed xtrSense on there ( what I have my wife's Eris running ) and the issue went away. Hoping that it was something with the ROM, I went back, re-downloaded Nonsensikal and re-flashed.
Come to find out, it has something to do with the settings on the camera - I changed the settings from the 5MB to smaller as to not have such huge files, and this seemed to be the cause of the issue.
Once I re-set the settings to "default" by the programs option, all the camera issues went away. I can change it would seem, any setting in the camera except the size to which it is going to be taken - which in the long run is OK, now that I know not to mess with it.
Being that Nonsensikal no longer supported, I think I might start to look at other ROM's, which is really too bad as I've been very happy with this to date, and TBH, is the ONLY ROM that I've used as a daily driver since rooting the little Eris.
Im glad its not a hardware issue, as Im not w/in the one year replacement period, and while I'd like to have a DInc, I think that like the Eris its soon to be out of the market for VZN support - and I have about 7 months till my new in 2.
Whoops!

Droid X2 Audio Playback Issues

Here's a youtube video I posted that shows the issue. h t t p://youtu.be/F6ojmzPuOJQ (remove spaces from " h t t p"). Note at the 2:03 mark when I launch "Browser" the music stutters and also at 2:42 when I launch "Manage Applications" . Other little sound glitches are present when locking the screen. This seems to be an issue affecting a lot (if not every) Droid X2's. This is a bare bones stock, unrooted, OTA Gingerbread with no apps installed from the market whatsoever. Anyone else have this issue ?
Funny enough, I had zero issues with audio playback until Gingerbread. Now it pops and stutters, moreso when I'm doing things. Pre-rooted Gingerbread, with bloat cleaned off of it.
Official Response from Verizon.
“This happens on my phone too which is running Gingerbread. This is a known issue with Gingerbread. There’s a software update in the works to fix this.”
I explained that my Droid X did not have this problem nor did the Incredible that I had been using for the past few weeks. They said “that’s because the Incredible is running froyo.”
I asked why I was not told that there was an audio playback issue with the phone they sold it to me 2 days ago and they said it’s because “Gingerbread just came out.”
Finally I asked them to replace my phone which was 2 days old and defective and they said “there was nothing they could do for me because there is a software update in the works and any replacement phone will also be running Gingerbread and have the same issues”
They recommended I flash back to froyo which does not have the issue. I know for fact this is not true because I did do a full SBF back to froyo using the official Verizon signed SBF file and still had the issue.
So, this leaves a lot of unanswered questions:
How come if there is a software update in the works has there been no real acknowledgement that there’s an issue from Verizon or Motorola?
If this affects all Gingerbread phones how come there are so many users saying they do not have any issues with audio playback on their devices?
Has anyone else addressed Verizon directly about this issue and gotten a similar response?
You would think a software update to patch a known issue with audio playback on the Droid X2 would be fairly big news.
those of us who've been flashing roms and modding our phones for awhile realize that the devs and hackers do a much better job of creating roms and tweaks that work better than the manufacturer releases. *****ing to vzw or motorola will get you no where.
root the dx2, debloat and run zeps v6 supercharger scritp. all of your issues will go away.
your choice.
Issues don't go away rooted, debloated and supercharged. I've tried it all....even got a replacement x2 from verizon which SHOCKINGLY did the exact same thing. They refuse to acknowledge it's a problem and told me I can't expect perfection from my phone and that all phones have quirks that you have to live with......
fought and fought with them and the only thing I could get out of them was a downgrade to a fascinate (which the x2 replaced when my fascinate was missing calls and samsung had no idea what to do) I didn't have much trouble with music on it so I ended up taking it but the battery life on it with froyo sucks so it's far from a solution that makes me happy....

0vermind, I've installed your Init.d hack and your speedy scripts. Unfortunately, I still have audio skipping issues.
I had zero issues with audio skipping when I first got the phone. I was rooted and running the CorteX2 Rom on Froyo. I SBF'd and went to Gingerbread as soon as the Eclipse ROM was released. I ran it for a couple of days and ended up flashing back to CorteX2 because the audio skipping was terrible. Unfortunately, development has completely stopped (understandably) for Froyo.
I'm now running Eclipse v0.4 and the skipping still remains. I actually PM'd you yesterday about a possible fix, but I haven't heard back from you yet.

And I now add a NEW issue.to audio problem
I just made a call. The ringback tone they had set started skipping when I was calling.
And no it wasn't a bad connection or signal. I have tested this a multiple locations with multiple calls to different numbers with ringback tones. Now this just seems way to ridiculous to me.
Can anyone confirm this also happens to them? I am very curious about this.since it isn't really streaming music.on 3gthe problem it can now be confirmed it os the x2 specific problem. And I think vzw should replace all our phones with a bionic if it works better and we want it lol
Now they either need to fix this wit an update or give us ALL 4gI phones hahahaha
Im nit joking about the skipping but I am sarcastic joking in some of this post....don't kill me
Ive had the same issues you guys have with the old X2 (new really). I went with old reliable and.. ive tried like hell to make it skip... opening browser, phone, xda forums app, etc... I cant get it to skip. no pops, no skips.. just music the way it was intended. No idea how you go about installing it. All i know is, I yanked it from my D1 and included it inmy theme I;ll be posting tomorrow sometime.

The main issue is, is this version of android. This 2.3.3 came out last year. Which means this thing is optimized for 1 core. We have 2. No matter how compatible a product is there are still issues and glitches if said os is not built for it. 2.3.3 was not built for dual cores. Since 2.3.4 and up were released when dual cores where being implemented there would be none of this. We have a junk os fw on a powerful device. Its like running win 95 and down on the latest computers there will be issues to hell. I never heard of these music skips for XOOM which is using tegra2 because honeycomb was built for dualcores. Its not surprising that we only have work a rounds and no real solution. We won't until we get a proper os fw on this thing.
To mitigate the worst of it:
Eclipse 0.2.2 (that's what im using and im not updating)
V6 noop script
V6 supercharger update 8 setting 9
98kickasskerneltweaks.
Out of 85 songs while doing nothing and just listening to music in mp3 format with 128-320 quality setting only 1-3 songs skips the rest play without hick ups. And when I open the web browser for the first time it skips and then runs fine on most websites (the ones I frequent don't skip but I can't say not all will). I don't get skipping with xda's or droidforums apps like I used to get.
I suspect that once we get 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 it will be gone. The bionic is coming out with 2.3.4 for a reason. But hopefully someone will buy it and test out music. I just wish the bionic was tegra2 with 2.3.4 cause then we would have a definite answer that it out is for sure this os fw ver. But either way I beloved it is the os. Im about 90% sure it is. Cause its deffinitly not handling the second core right and I find it hard to believe that 3 months after release and there are still deffective tegra2s out there which is why I don't think its the chipset. But they moved away cause of the badpress because they (motor) was inept at getting us a proper os on the phone that is built for not compatible but actually designed to run dual cores.

Thanks for the tip. Just tried it & it skips for me though. I'm on the stock GB rom, rooted with one-click & running naven's latest build.prop & init.d tweaks. Strangely enough, the stock music player performs the best for me.

I guess I should have stated what I am running... Rooted GB with Eclipse 0.5 ROM. Ive made no edits to build.prop or anything else. Only edits on my phone would have been implemented by Eclipse. Not running any superchargers or anything else. (Unless they were built into Eclipse)

Bell Gingerbread update??

When is it coming out? I saw in some other thread that it's supposed to come out in "Late summer".. but does anyone have the exact date now?
No date, but if u want gb so badly then unlock your bootloader bud.

Do you think that they will unlock the bootloader on this update? Or we should use puddings and forget bell?

First off, doubt it that the BL will be unlocked.
Second, the bigger question is if Bell will do that some BS as AT&T where if you upgrade that you could possibly brick your device by going back to Froyo.
After using both GB and Froyo over the past month, there are days that I wish that I was using the other firmware since IMHO one isn't "truly" better than the other...
The leaked Bell 2.3.4 isn't a really an acceptable option in my opinion.
The deal breaker for me was the freezing / rebooting of the phone when watching some videos or YouTube, and spontaneous reboots when plugging / unplugging USB. Also noticed a few spontaneous reboots at night when not using the phone for some reason. Basically, it was too unstable to use as my main phone. A few other features were broken, such as WebTop.
On the other hand, things I liked: GPS enabled stock camera app, and overall improvement to focusing (I had added a focusing option to a volume button on the old camera because it didn't auto-focus when you first start it). Haptic feedback setting for soft buttons built in. New smoother, more polished transition animations, such as when changing screen orientation. Much improved battery stats screen. Mystery options such as in-pocket detection (did it really actually do anything?). Probably a host of other changes that I've forgotten.

Have you tried the CWM version of the official AT&T 2.3.4 update? That is official update and should be fine!
Went to Bell store here in Toronto and spoke with Mr. MOTOROLA himself. He said "back to school" and after more persistance "very very soon and to keep trying to manually update..".
He had the update on his Atrix already of course for testing.
It's out! I'm downloading it right now as we speak! Download taking more time than expected though.

[Q] HDMI Mirroring resolution screwed up

So after a few months of stock, i jumped into some of the roms available for the Photon. Kudos to the Devs, I enjoyed your work. But I decided to come back to stock because of stability, and the HDMI mirroring which I use a lot for Netflix.
Now that I am back to stock, it seems that the resolution of the HDMI output has been reduced. I am not filling up the screen with a full 1080p, the aspect ratio is wrong and netflix no longer fills up the whole screen. I did flash jokers latest rom that has the new version of webtop.
However I flashed 198-7 with RSDLite and that should have brought me back to stock, no? is there something i need to do to get this working properly?
So, you did an SBF back to stock, and this is what is happening? Also, you are using the same TV, same app, and same everything as before, and you are getting a different result right? I just want to make sure.
It's possible that even though you reverted everything back to stock, there was still a file that was edited to change your resolution. I would try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198230. Hopefully.

That's for webtop. I think he is talking about simple mirroring. If you flashed the sbf, then that would fix it. What resolution is your TV listing as the input? I had the same problem last weekend. Didn't do anything memorable. Was stuck at 480p. reset data, redid the sbf. Finally, after giving up, I thought I would try switching the hdmi cable from port two to port one (in the tv). It worked fine. I then switched back to the way it was, and it worked fine. I apparently had somehow loosened the cord I think.
Just a thought.

CM10 Jellybean, lapdock webtop and epinter's fantastic CM10

Hi all, i havent bit the bullet yet with this rooting game as the atrix as been plenty fast enough for me box standard, but since getting the lapdock and finding it so painfully slow that I wont use it, I started googling my options, so here i am as it seems that rooting is the answer!
Ive been reading about Jellybean and it sounds like its been designed to work with accessories like the lapdock, that lead me to read the thread about the CM10 rom that epinter is building which sounds brilliant.
I cant ask the Q on that thread because im a noob so can someone tell me if epinters cm10 works with the lapdock or would i need to add things.
thanks
Joe

yes and hdmi output doesn t work landspece mod or i didn t find yet
Thanks for the replies guys but just to clarify, your both saying -
The lapdock works?
Well of course it works, however much like CM9 it's only going to mirror the video output from the phone right now. However the auto tablet switch is still broken (from what it sounds like, I'm not on CM10 yet.) and Moto's WebTop is obviously still broken as well.
Personally I'm waiting for a version of Paranoid Android based on CM10. Maybe when that hits I can finally switch modes without having to reboot.

I think i could live with that as the browser on the lapdock is only useable if i use it through the phone rather than its own firefox.
So i would just be losing out on screen resolution.
Does JB still have the bug where on the lapdock you get 10 FPS and on the phone its nice and smooth?
Actually I'm getting decent FPS with Paranoid Android. It's still not great but it's WAY better than it was. The start screen for Need for Speed: Shift and it's pretty good. Galaxy on Fire 2 THD works like I expect it to as well. My guess is that it's been fixed in Joker's latest CM9's and yeah CM10 as well.
I doubt it will be perfect until Moto releases ICS officially though (and hopefully they can use something out of that to help with CM10 too).

I doubt my lapdock would work if they didn't. Also I've tried the cable with a DVI adapter and that works fine, so yeah.
If you meant CM10, I have no clue yet but I'm getting tired of waiting for a CM10 based parandroid (which is what I'm going to call it for short from now on, because I think it's clever).
I've flashed cm10 and will give my lapdock a try when its charged. The is some mention of changes today but I haven't read the change log.

I just flashed it, didn't even bother with the new gapps yet though. Came over from Parandorid 1.6 and all I did was wiped the caches.
So far no issues but I absolutely HATE the app picker. It was much easier with ICS where you picked it and checked always use if you wanted to. Now you have to pick it and select either just once or always (so two taps instead of one).
Loud sound lapdock
On [ROM] CM10 (JellyBean) for Atrix - 20120729 very loud lapdock sound in mirror mode. What I can do on it?
What do you mean loud? It functions normally for me. Maybe turn down the volume? Sorry you're going to need to be more specific as to what the problem is.

Very loud minimum volume (level 1).
I tried with both the phone speaker and the stereo system I plug it into and I could not replicate the issue on my end, sorry.
You did check all the volume levels right?
Posting a logcat might help someone. I'd mention the issue in the main thread.

So just to make it clear. You dont have webtop with the flashed rom?
Is there an ICS ROM with working webtop yet?
I only use the Atrix with the lapdock in GB. Is there an ICS ROM with proper support or do I have to wait for the official ICS?
NO ONE has webtop with JB, let alone ICS. If they do they're *******s for hiding it from the rest of us.
The devs are working on it. Official ICS *SHOULD* bring it when it hits (if it hits, which I'm sure it's going to it's just taking forever).
What I'd really like to see is companies release all the source code for their "dead" devices. But it will probably be a cold day on Mercury when that happens.
I don't even have a webtop like interface either, nor will I until paranoid android comes out with a modified CM10 of their own. My hope is then that I can switch DPI without having to reboot.

So I'll just stick with 2.3.4 stock, my lapdock working and wait patiently for ICS.
