Happy Holidays everyone!!!
I'm hoping some of the developers and gTablet users may be able to answer this for me. I'm running my gTab using the Flashback 10.3 rom.
I wonder why some games such as Dead Space have compatibility issues with gTab? GTA3 works fine and it renders well on the gTab. How about games with minor graphics requirements such as Plants vs. Zombies... not compatible(?) with a Tegra 2 tablet device??? I know my limited knowledge of programming may make this Q seem inconsequential to most but I beg some indulgence.
If there are work-arounds to get some of the high quality games to work with the gTab running a FB10.3 rom then, I'd like to know about them too.
Thanks in advance!
Hello all n happy holidays, I too have had some issues with games on flashback 10.3 I paid for nova 2 hd thru gameloft and used a tegra device to get download link but run into errors, have problems with other high end games too, any advice could be helpful
I'm not an expert in the field by any means.
From my understanding, it has to do with the underlying kernel running your ROM and whichever ROM you're running.
Viewsonic/tegra has not supported this tablet beyond FROYO 2.2
ex: Vegan 5.1.1 on the froyo kernel, Pop Cap games will run - such as PvZ
moving up to 2.3GB CM7 or 3.0 HC, some games may work, others may not.
I think there was a list posted a while back with roms ran which games.
you may have to experiment with different roms or kernels to see what works for what games
there is also another board/forum that has a lot of users as well...you may have to google it (i think post links to other boards is frown upon)

Simple question,
is there any rom out there powerful enough to run angry birds 1.4 smoothly and flawssly
sorry if im in the wrong thread.
thank you.
no.........
But if you looky at the rovio's updates you would see that its not the ROM's
Its the fact the game isnt actually made well for our none GPU'd phones.
They are working on a version specifically aimed at out phones, so will have to just be patient.
I have no idea what happened, but some months ago I could swear I ran the game nearly lag-free. Then suddenly I had tons of lag because I went with a Froyo ROM, now I cant seem to get that same performance downgrading to any ROM Seems AB has the same performance now regardless of ROMs.
I bet they upgraded the game with heavier graphics since my initial tryout.
They do claim a low-end version of the game is coming though. I think I will use Cronos Gingerbread till then, or any other Ginger ROM that makes some progress.

no they're not. it's been at 1.4.2 for eons now. And they know that many of us use the older version that had missing background graphics which runs less crappilly on our phones (but still pretty poorly at times and missing graphics can make it hard to play on some levels).
if I'm wrong about them actually following through on the "lite" version of the game then I'll apologize publicly, but I can't imagine it's worth their time to develop a completely new game engine that runs without a good gpu just for legacy phones that will mostly be upgraded over the next year. not to mention, I doubt they can even do it - the game is full of many layers of graphics flying independently around the screen, like parallax concepts etc.
Good luck on the hero wtih that without spending months writing a custom low level engine just to handle it.

get the older version 1.3.5
that (or a similar revision) is what you used to use. we all went through that experience.
Thanks, I had thought of it, but I also thought that it was because earlier versions of android couldnt render the images well enough and therefore had a performance boost. But now I know how to get my AB experience alright again. IMO the background images and tumble animations are a neccesary sacrifice. And I do hope you are wrong about they not supporting legacy, but I understand your argument well.
EDIT: Just found Angry Birds LITE Beta on market - I remain hopeful
EDIT2: The ROM i found it on wont run it, and rumors say it's the old beta
I am somewhat of a phone freak. I am usually buying, rooting, selling various phones. But recently came back and started using a Vibrant again. I am noticing that a few of my favorite games run piss poor on this phone. Namely Squibble, Drag Racing, games that as far as I can tell aren't too heavy.
I have tried a few other ROMS thinking this was the problem, Bi-Winning, Simply Galaxy, Performance V, among some others. I just can't get these games to run right. With or without Lag Fixes, I've even tried stock firmware.
Any ideas which roms are best for gaming? or any other ideas.
Haven't played drag racing, but I can confirm Squibble has always lagged really bad for me. Strange that such a simple game will do that, yet some Tegra 2 games will run perfect.
I am curious if you installed those games directly from the Google app market or the Amazon App Store. I have actually been meaning to ask around here if anyone else has had trouble with Amazon App Store games. I don't know if it is just the games I chose or if there is something else that is going on behind the scenes.
I first had problems with Angry Birds Rio. It was terribly laggy for me. After changing roms I didn't put the Amazon App Store back on my phone until recently when I added it for Plants vs. Zombies. Once I run that game the phone gets laggy on me until I reboot. I can't play it, stop playing it, then load it back up later without rebooting. Actually I can, it just is almost impossible to play the second time around.
Anyhow, just curious which app store you used to install the games.
I have been running trigger 3.2 with dragonmodz kernal. dragonmodz is made for gaming. it overclocks the gpu as well as the cpu. drag racing runs really laggy for me for the first few races then runs fine. the only problem is how addicting that game is. I kill the battery. other games run fine. I installed chainfire 3d and the nvidia drivers. dungeon def hd works as well as samurai II. fun game!
squibble runs great for me.
on cm7
I also noticed the horrible lag while playing drag racing. It almost ruins the game. But I can tell you what fixes it completely for me, and I mean no lag, not even the first race. Just install MIUI. I use the "Energy" version. I have a hunch that any gingerbread based rom would likely work tho, although you did mention simply galaxy in your roms that youve tried list. I am torn between having wifi calling, (2.2 based only) and having playable Drag Racing (2.3+ based only). Currently still on Energy in spite of my almost non-existant network in my area. Good Luck

Try this wifi calling, it's for cm7, but not about other gingerbread roms.

Looks like this hasnt been tested on a vibrant yet. Was built for nexus one. I dont mind being the guinea pig tho.
Edit: Tried flashing it, it failed but atleast it didnt brick my phone. Just rebooted after failure and all was well. Hopefully someone can make this work for our vibrants. With Working GPS on ginger, now all we need is wifi calling to be bug free gingerbread. Were so close!
update: I started a new topic about getting this ported over in the development section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15064209#post15064209
I really hope someone can getter going!
Try putting your phone in airplane mode. My buddy with an og droid can't play Angry Birds unless he does.
Why in the world does that game need to see system log files and phone identity. I hate odd permissions.
This might be a noob question but do HD games actually run on the Nook Tablet? coz i tried running some Samsung galaxy s games on it and they crash on start..
What device games will run best on the NT? I presumed the SGS games would be most compatible Because of same GPU (sgx540) though it has a smaller screen.. Still almost none of the HD games of SGS work and about 30% of other powervr games run sucessfully.. I have a rooted Nook tablet btw
Is this happenning to others as well? will there be better compatibility once custom roms are made for NT.. and extremely noob doubt (im new to android)- isn't HD supposed to be 1080p? so are hd games running at 1080p?
Any game that has THD in its name requires tegra 2 which doesn't work on the nook tablet.
The only HD games I have read working are angry birds hd. That's it.. Everything else is standard graphics.. You can try modifying your build.prop so you can get more apps to run...

Hello satan,
I would recommend reading through this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19704560

If by hd you mean like strait 1080p dont know about that. But if you mean like console quality games yes it plays them very well, nova 2, grand theft auto, dungen defenders 2 (that one is in the android market) the others i got from sources i cant name here. And many others, i have a bunch of 3d first person shooters and others that just purr with the graphics on the highest settings this has a very capable chip set. I have an htc hd2 any game that is made for that will run on the nook tablet. I had some games that the phone couldnt handle they would bog it down but they run perfect on this. So look for games that run on the htc hd2 theyll work for sure. Ive had issues when i find games that have different versions for different phones most wount run. But it just happens that i have that phone and any game that will play on that will play on the tab thats the most help i can give you.
I know World of Goo and Osmos both work very well on the NT, and with awesome visuals. I haven't tried many other high-quality games, though.
I made a video here showing various HD games playing on the NT.
By far, the best looking game IMO is Modern Combat 3. (Video here.) It just looks and plays beautifully. It's the game you run to show people what the NT is truly capable of.
As dodgepot posted, definitely look through the games thread, as much of the how to/which/where to get has already been gone over.
i recently found dead space HD works awesome on the NT. very good effects n' such.
Hi guys,
I'm trying to flash android on my touchpad for my kids can play games. I'm just trying to figure out what'll be the best ROM to put onto the touchpad in order for gaming for my kids? I've read through the posts a little bit but theres quite a bit so I was wondering if you guys had any ideas. It'll also be nice if it had minimal bugs and I could use it as a daily driver.
Also: Are there any updated guides for this out? I'm sure I can follow the old one and figure it out from there, but I figured it never hurts to ask.
Thanks

I would just go with stock cyanogen. There is no gaming roms lol. I am running cyano nightly and its very stable. You can over clock it too.
Go check out rev kyle on YouTube and he will give you step by step directions bud. . Don't forget to hit thanks if I was helpful. Good luck and I hope your kids get as much joy out of your touchpad as I do!
touchpad tenderloin
Depending on the games you may need to spoof another device. Most of the kid games work well though. My 2 and 5 year olds like playing on my touchpad. In fact I'm getting another one for them soon.

To those running CM9, do gameloft/glu games work? I used to get FC all the time on CN several months ago.
I got a GNex so I haven't been up to date on TP development for a while now
A lot of gameloft games work, I run Asphalt 6, Modern Combat 3, Dungeon Hunters 3, and other high end games like Mass Effect Infiltrator and such with no problems. Sometimes you'd need specific versions for some other games (so those have to be side-loaded into your device) but most work. Don't know about glu games, myself.
CM9 nightlies are the best. I flash the latest nightly, change the build.prop to spoof a SGH-T989, and I'm set for everything I need.

Hi,
Even though NT is a history, many of us still make use of it thanks to all those great developers and custom ROMs. I thought it'd be cool to share our achievements in running heavy duty apps on NT. It'd be fun to see and talk about apps that previously thought were impossible for NT to run.
I can't say I've tried very hard at this, but I'll start with mine. I'm running a 3D game called "Balance 3D" on my NT 8GB model. I'm using this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2750657
What about you?
On a side note, even though I was able to run the above 3D game, I am unable to run Candy Crush. Not sure if this is a hardware limitation or ROM specific.
