OK so heres my problem, I didnt drop the phone or anything like that, but one day i just noticed that my home and menu hardware keys werent working but the back key does, then i noticed that whenever i slide the phone to the side, the phone freezes, and tries to redraw the image in landscape while the keyboard is out, but it cant for some reason. but it can draw it in landscape without the keyboard out.
Im on this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201116
obviously stock kernel and all that.
Has anyone experienced this problem, is it a softwarre issue or a hardware issue.
I can also get back into cwm but i cant select anything because the middle hardware button is not working. im guessing because i cant use it in cwm its a software issue but i just had to make sure. i want to know if i should use flashtool and go back to stock so i can give it to my provider to fix or if i should try something else.
Another thing, this is the only phone i have access to so i dont want to do anything that isnt reversable with out the use of the two hardware keys i mentioned.
Please please help me with this.
Cheers,
Evil.
Hi.
I've used that rom for a while.
Never experienced something like that.
Once a time I found phone switched off, but I don't think it depends on rom...
But, more from a shot it takes...
Try to restore original rom (with SEUS).
If the problem persist, use Your warranty!
Cheers,
M.

Thanks but you see the problem is that i dont want to restore with seus just incase it is a hardware issue, coz then i wouldnt have a phone to use, as it is my only device. does anyone else have any suggestions. Please anything will be cool.
Cheers,
Evil.
If it is a hardware issue and you use SEUS, it'll just mean you'll still have the same problems you have now but on the stock ROM. Your phone will be just as usable as it is at the moment.
Plus, it means you'll be able to claim a repair on your warranty.
If it's a software issue and you use SEUS..then it should be fixed. It does mean you have to reinstall everything, which is great fun, but at least your phone will work.
The only other thing I could suggest would perhaps be reflashing your ROM.
Which you can't do with CWM because your home key doesn't work..
Hmm...
I think you are going to have use SEUS, I'm afraid.
use the power key in recovery
it seems like it's a hardware problem as the home button DOESNT work in CWM recovery..
is your phone still in warranty?? (i thought warranties were only like for one year..)
btw... do a backup in CWM.. i know ur home key does not work but u can use the 'power' key on top as a substitute in CWM. Backup ur ****, then flash with SEUS and see.. if it still doesn work, get it repaired under ur warranty.
OR
slide out the hardware keyboard and use the "enter" key on it

Hi guys,
I have a problem with my x10 mini pro. There are some similar posts here but nobody exactly describe what is happening to me. So my problem:
One day i have been in subway, phone working properly everything fine. THan suddenly 3G icon has disappear and wouldnt go back. So i decided to restart the device. But since i turned it off, i cannot turn it back on again...
I have tried to take out the simcard, take out mempory card, multiple time reflash by SEUS but still cannot turn it on.
I cna charge the phone with no problem, i can flash it with no problem, but i cannot use it at all.
When i press power button, phone shortly vibrate as he is turning on, than display get a bit brighter (not white, just lights up its easy to notice from profile). and than after few seconds get black again. And like this it continue until it drains battery, only without vibrating. every cca 5 seconds display light up and than get black again. So i guess its rebooting all the time. I have tried all tricks like pressing power+home button, still nothing.
I think i just need really wipe out the whole phone and flash it again. Is it possible somehow? I feel like reflashing by SEUS is not real hardcore flash, is there anything stronger i can try?
I am willing to try anything if anybody has an idea, since its not working anyway so i dont care what i try.
Thanks for advices !
try binary's flash tool, it helps every out. use it in the same way you would SEUS

I try this already... Still the same
Try to flash 1.6 back.
I had the same problem, didnt ever find a way to fix it so had it replaced under warrenty. may be your only way on this problem im afraid.
I tried 1.6 - didnt work
Problem is that i have no warranty.... I just gave it to my friend who is going to singapore, she knows some official SE shop, so maybe i will get it fixed, but im not sure if it wont be for the same money as new phone...
Well the phone is under a year old so it will be covererd under se warranty unless they think you broke there warranty in any way. I would flash it back to your original FW before having it looked at and wipe your sd card.
I bought it in chinese market (Its not a copy) without any receipt or anything, I dont think so they will took it as a warranty. I have done all of this. Flashed to my original FW, wiped everything, nothing works...
did u try SEUS ?
is your phone getting detected via SEUS in flash mode ? what happens when :
1. Take off the battery for 30 secs
2. connect the phone to usb
3. Power on the phone with back button pressed.
if SEUS detects u should be able to flash it. The flash tool also should be working.

Backup with Titanium and try to reinstall from scratch with SEUS.
phone is not rooted, and i can't do it. so there's no way for me to get titanium backup.. or is it posible to put Titanium backup into non-rooted phone ?
if i dont care about what's inside in phone. should i do the backup with titanium ?
restarts
I had a similar problem before with my X10i. It would restart and couldn't turn it back on again (stuck at start up screen). I returned it for warranty, to keep it short i argued quite a lot with them and in the end got new x10. Aperently it was motherboard problem (they were trying to persuade me it is just a software problem so they just reinstalled the software, and gave it back to me, but it was still restarting).
I know this doesn't really help you with your problem, but i just wanted to post my experience with my x10

thx, i hope i wont get this motherboard stuff.. couse it wouldnt be cheap..
Today, I had the CM7.2 rom on my SK17, and it worked perfectly, I toke the phone to use it, but the touch screen didn't worked! I saw the things in the screen, but touching it gave me the same result as touching a non tactile screen! Of course, I couldn't unlock and use it.
I tried to enter the CWM mode and flash it. In the CWM the soft keys didn't worked, so I had to wait to flash again the boot.img at home with the computer.
But although I flashed again the boot.img, the touch screen didn't worked. I tried to flash other different boot.img, but it continues without work. I don't know what to do!!
Do you flash the right rom??mango??
Sent from my Xperia Mini Pro using XDA
Seen quite a lot of topics about SK17 touchscreen problems, but no solution yet, neither do we know what causes the bug.
Also, soft keys in CWM not working. I hear that first time.
Get back to fully stock ROM, might help you.
Of course I had flashed the correct rom, for mango, sk17, and I returned to the official rom too, but the problem persists.
I think it's a hardware problem, but I don't know if I should open the phone to see if something is broken...
Ok, I finally decided to take the phone to vodafone and make them solve the problem. It's under warranty yet and I think it's a hardware problem, so I won't have to pay, but I'll have to cope without my xperia during 10 days :S
Thanks for the ideas you suggested
yeah, me too having this problem.... once it worked i restored backup...but after 30minutes stopped working again.... i can change kernels...but not working..so i guess not the lib's fault here. Also softkeys doesnt work, i guess they are part of screen.
Howdy! Recently I just rooted, and installed CWM on my xperia mini pro (Sk17i) running the .587 version (yes, ICS). However, after doing it I can't shut down the cellphone just by holding down the power button, so now I'm forced to hold it down for a few secs, then touch the visual "power off" button. I can live with it, but if it could be fixed somehow it'd be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.

I am quite sure that the power menu was there even before you rooted your mini pro. It is there in all of our phones even if we don't root it. And by the way, rooting only installs the superuser binaries and superuser.apk. Nothing can happen to a mobile by just "rooting" it. All the problems arise after messing with a rooted phone. Did you by chance flash a systemui.apk or framework-res.apk or something like that?

Yes, the power menu was there before indeed, the difference is that I could turn off the phone by simply holding the power button for 5~ secs, which I can't now. The only thing I did after rooting was installing cwm, and that's when I noticed the difference : C
If I were to reflash the Rom (It's just stock ics) or factory reset the cellphone, what are the odds of getting it fixed? :C

Doing a factory reset does not edit the /system partition at all. Only the /data partition. Flashing a stock ics ftf will definitely work. Good luck!
Okay I seem to be pretty ****ed. I flashed in a custom Rom just to see if it would fix, but nope. So now I just want to hard reset the cellphone and do the whole process again. However, after connecting the cellphone to repair via pc companion, it doesn't really recognize the phone (Just says sony/sony ericsson phone) and it also says that there's no available software for my phone. So I turn it on, and connect it with the phone turned on to see what happens, and then it shows that companion is recognizing my phone as an Arc S (It might have something to do with the root, I used the 4.0.3 kernel trick since I didn't want to unlock bootloader)... Right now I'm downloading SEUS to see if it's more reliable, but damn I'm running out of ideas now, Help incredibly appreciated : (
Download flashtools and use it to flash back original stock fw

Well PC companion now correctly recognizes it as SK17, but it still can't repair and says there's no software available for my phone.
I was hoping to remove the root and CWM via PC companion, and I can't do that by using flashtool can I? But seems like I have no choice left.
Sorry for so many quick posts, but even after flashing stock ics, then repairing via SEUS, I still can't seem to power off the phone just be holding down the button, I can't be this crazy... Someone else with a sk17 can confirm this? I'm actually scared now.

Well, your "problem" won't go away in the near future because it's not a problem, but the actual behavior of the ICS Android on the Mini Pro. I've got a SK17i with original ICS on it and I've been holding down the power button for 10 seconds: only the menu appears.

Welcome to the learning curve. :silly:
Hi. I have a SGSIII which doesn't work properly. Its previous owner told me that the phone had started work slowly so the owner decided to restore factory settings. After that operation he was not able to use SGS. It keeped restarting. He gave up and now this telephone belongs to me. When I try to run this phone telephone restarted as soon as the system started. I decided to flash SGS with stock firmware. I found the one which contained only one file (PDA). Unfortunately it didn't help me. Then, I installed CWM and CM11. But the problem still wasn't solved. Finally I decided to find four-file stock rom (Bootloader, PDA, PHONE, CSC), of course I still have the same problem. I've been looking for solution in the Internet and I'm afraid that could be hardware problem, what is more, it seems to be common. Do you, guys, have any ideas what can I do to fix this issue? Or can you confirm that is the hardware problem? Thanks in advance.

Well I haven't tried taking it to service, because I am not sure if it is worth to repair this. Replacing the motherboard will be expensive so the better way will be buying another phone.
It could be a stuck power button... that can cause bootlooping type behavior. If the phone turns itself on when you put the battery in, but then reboots before it gets done booting it's likely the power button.

I don't think so the power button is guilty, becaue the telephone doesn't turn itself and it doesn't reboot until Android starts.
