Hey
First, sorry for my bad english : I'm French.
Is that possible to make a native Ubuntu for Atrix ?
I mean : is that possible to make my Atrix boot on Ubuntu instead of Android ? Or is that possible to make a dual boot ?
I found that, related to the Optimus 2x which has the same hardware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213670
Thank you guys
(sorry if there's already a thread speaking of that : I searched and didn't found anything)
As far as I know, there's no way for the Atrix to boot natively into Ubuntu instead of Android. The best you can do is run it in webtop mode which means both Android and Ubuntu are running at the same time.
Check here for further information: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119555
Yeh I think getting Webtop2SD to work is probably the best idea as it utilises the 'phone in a window' feature.
...however I was just reading about this guy who's testing an app to boot into Ubuntu from android, check
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405454
Thanks for the answer !
I've succeed in booting on debian with debondroid, that's (in my opinion) too laggy (I think that's because of VNC...).
I haven't god a lapdock or a webdock :S
EDIT :
The best would be to make the Atrix boot on a ubuntu with all the suitable drivers. Do you think it's possible ?
I found that http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213670 very interessant. Any chance to port that on Atrix ?
And is there a way to launch the webtop on the phone's screen ???
I`d imagine its possible but would require someone who knows what theyre doing (not me!) to put the effort in. Did you try that app that puts ubuntu within android on that link? Havent tried it myself but looks close to what yr after.
Also theres a thread in the Android Development secction that is an HDMI hack that lets you run webtop by just plugging yr HDMI cable into a compatible screen, then you could also take advantage of the great work done opening up the ubuntu thats already on the Atrix.
Anyhow, hope you find what yr after, cheers.
Ubuntu did'nt work for me :S.
And I think I can't put ubutu on my webtop since I'm have a 4.5.91 rom...

hi.. i'm very happy to know that you have rooted the acer stream.. could you link me the version of the tool that you used?
thank you..
rooted
I've already rooted Acer Stream by Universal Androot ver.1.6.2 beta 5.
Official release site is:
blog.23corner.com/tag/universalandroot/
but you couldn't read this site because it is written by chinese.(I can almost read because I'm Japanese)
XDA Site is:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747598
No listed Acer stream but I could do.
I could rooted and use Titanium Backup(need rooted) but cannot work any tethering applications(inc. Liquid tether).
Hi guys.
I rooted Acer Stream S110 with Z4root. its great aplication !!!
But this morning i found in www acer ... Sorry ... I'm new in this forum and not allowed to put link.
ANDROID 2.2 FOR ACER ... but my problem i cant found recovery for this mobile.
Anybody can help me to install 2.2 on my Stream?
Thanks
Hi all,
I am now the proud owner of an Acer Stream, so let me share all the info I got
-> if your Stream is Android 2.1: get the official update from Acer http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers
(select smartphone > Stream > Stream then in OS)
After it's 2.2 follow this procedure:
ROOT:
I used z4root which happened to work without a hitch:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY:
Get it from here:
http://weijr-note.blogspot.com/2011/09/clockworkmod-recovery-for-acer-stream.html
Mr. Squirrel (his name in Chinese ) has been doing a great job with this device
Get the file and copy it to your /sdcard folder
If you're afraid/ don't know how to use fastboot you can use this very good Recovery Manager coded by Sebastian404 (remember though that your phone has to be rooted)
http://blog.podtwo.com/tag/recoverymanager
Now reboot as recovery, you can backup all your data to your external card, and your phone is ready to welcome a custom rom... we just have to wait someone ports CM7 or some other eye candy to it...
"we just have to wait someone ports CM7 or some other eye candy to it..." - I wish that was true, but i am afraid no one is working on that, no one that knows how to do it. I am afraid we are stuck at 2.2. Too bad cause this is a great phone.
Help
Hello friends!
I wanted to see if someone can help me. I have acer stream and try to delete some files in the root explorer. I made a mistake and selected all system files and delete them. Now my acer is a paperweight. I tried restarting and nothing. I can not start the phone is in the language selection screen. Someone has the original rom to load it again?, Or someone has a way to fix this? Thank you. : (
Good news! A first custom rom seems to be released. As I'm a new user, I'm apparently not allowed to post outside links, but you'll find the rom looking for "dark.Firmware Glacier (4.007.21) для Acer Stream".
I haven't tried it out yet, so I can't report on any experiences.
Hi, i'm developer this custom rom. Link: http://acer-club.ru/topic/13542-custom-rom-darkfirmware-glacier-400721-для-acer-stream/
If you have a question - i try to answer.
But, i say: I can't create AOSP, CM7, MIUI or 2.3\4.0 - just optimize device. Soon be a newer version of custom.
Thanks for commenting and all your efforts - I will probably try to install your rom after christmas. One question: Is it possible for you to change the size of the market cache? I can't install big apps (> 25MB) from the Android Market, even though there is enough memory left - I suppose it has to do with cache allocated to market downloads?
Happy holidays!
I don't this so. Just use Link2SD or something what. I don't have this device and development on him very sloooowly ) Happy New Year )
i've flashed my acer stream with the dark rom, it works pretty good! only bad thing is, i can't seem to change the ringtone :s
olso it is still android 2.2, it would be nice to see some roms with 2.3
I haven't installed it yet, as I'm going to travel for a few weeks soon and don't want to mess with my phone beforehand, but afterwards I'll try it for sure. By the way, there is a new release of the dark.Firmware Glacier.
Does anybody know what this is (again, I may not yet post links, but you see the url):
os-shots.com/cm-stream
P.S.: Thanks to everybody who is still investing time and other resources in the phone, I really appreciate your engagement!

Acer Stream backup
Hi guys, I managed to brick my Stream. CWM recovery is installed but i need a flashable backup. Can someone please upload a backup for CWM?
Thanks
I realize this question was asked back in May, and once later on (at least that's what my search found). I have a iMac running Tiger. I rooted my phone last night, but would really love to get DJ_Steve's version. I have a brand new streak running 1.6. and I'm locked into AT&T.
Has anyone found a way to do this with a Mac? My computer, although running great, is too old to get bootcamp, and I don't know anyone with a windows computer that I can use. Their either virus infested, or locked up because they are computers from their work.
Thanks for any help.
there is are so many guides here that will help u . Please search

Do you mean reset WP7 from Mozart? You can go to Settings, About and reset there. All data will be erased.
Shamoon, can you provide any more details of you're problem? Like what sort of restart problem?
Is it restarting on it's own, or you can't restart/reset? Or what?
If you can let us know, we may be able to help, but as someone already said there isn't anyone currently working on this - probably because the Mozart connects mainly with Zune, which would need to be hacked... Which would have all sorts of implications :-/
Sent from my now unlocked 7 Mozart using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Please excuse my ignorance if I'm way off the mark here. But does WP7 read executable files like WM6? Because if it does, and as we can already access the Mozart's bootloader screen, it should be a short while before a haret-like (or haret itself) application is developed.
also could do with android
i have also just aquired a mozart and to be honest win7 isnt all its cracked up to be , android has so much more going for it :-D
not only Android but dual boot....Android and WP7 if possible....im getting bored at my Mozart WP7....its just like the Dumb IPHONE
Thanks guys
yeah m fedup of this phone... by the way i came over the problem i have by hard reseting the device.. manually

yh would be nice to dual boot wp7 n android cuz i like both of them.maybe we will get sumthing like that in the future
No you cannot install any version of Android, as the phone is already discontinued in some countries i don't think we are ever gonna have android running on Mozart.
shame we can not install android for Mozart
Hi guys, I'm new to this forums so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. But since I'm gonna be discussing about an android phone, I guess I'll put it here XD
Anyways, I have an Xperia Neo V and am upgrading my phone soon. I was wondering if anyone had any tutorials or links on how I can code and run custom operating systems on my phone. The thing is, I don't want it to be Android, I want to develop it from ground up, probably with assembly featuring. I've written a couple of tiny OSes on PCs with boot loaders and stuff using ASM but I don't know how to go about this with a smartphone as there are no resources on it.
Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge
Thanks

I am by no means an expert on this subject but first you would have to do is replace the bootloader on your phone with one that would allow you total control over the device which would mean porting something such as u-boot to your device. After that you would have following the porting procedure for whatever operating system you wanted to port.
Thanks for the reply I remember that on my tablet I had to place a uboot.bin file on the SD card before I could boot into CWM and some other stuff. Just wondering, rather than replacing the bootloader, would it be possible to run uboot from the SD card? Also, I was talking about writing an OS from scratch, not porting an existing one XD it's just for educational purposes, so I'd really like to try my hand at things like this
Thanks
Hi guys,
I got given a CNM Touchpad 9.7 for Christmas, there's very little info regarding this thing, but it's basically one of the generic Chinese jobs. Runs on an Allwinner A10 single core CPU.
I managed to install CWM with no problems, then found a thread with details on how to install CM10 on it. There are certain compatibility packs (which I assume are s/ware drivers of some sort). I appear to have installed the wrong one and now my screen is a lovely display of horizontal coloured bars.
I've tried re-installing the original firmware using the livesuit (their spelling not mine) package, however I still seem to have the same issue. I thought this would've wiped it.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what I could try next? Is there a way of controlling CWM from ABD so I can get it to install a different compatibility pack?
Thanks in advance
Dunk

This is the thread in question, but I am unable to post in it
For the record, I have rooted a Desire HD and I'm an IT engineer, so pretty tech savvy
