Hello Everybody,
I tried to download the following apps in the Android market:
-UBS mobile banking
-GTA 3
Although there are a lot of comments stating the functionality on the GS2, the market tells me that it isn't compatible with my device. The odd thing is that my comment wasn't listed in the GS2-filtered view of the comments.
Now my guess is that the market cannot recognize what phone I own..? Maybe it is because of the root..?
Please tell me if anyone experienced a similar scenario and if there is a solution..
Thank you very much!!
No, GTA 3 is naturally incompatible as of yet on the Galaxy S2.
I live in a country where UBS mobile banking is not allowed to be installed here, so it doesn't let me install it. Probably your country does not allow it to be installed on your phone.
Try Market Enabler .

+1 ..... i experienced the same problem and i sort out by changing Country in GOOGLE ACCOUNT after that market allowed me to install and after installtion i revert back to my original country and application remains there working...
So try after changing the country in your google account
Thanks, i was able to install GTA III with your trick (changed country in google account)
My GS2 though still isn't compatible to the UBS app...
Could you solve your problem?
I told a friend to download it for me and send me the apk, which I could install without problems on my SGS2...
Its installed in /data/app-private/ so you need root to get the app from your friends phone...
#your friends phone connected
adb shell ls /data/app-private/
adb pull /data/app-private/com.ubs.swidKXJ.android-1.apk (check the exact filename from command above)
#your phone connected
adb install com.ubs.swidKXJ.android-1.apk

so in the new web based android market it know I have a device with market running, but doesn't know what it is. I can edit the name but none of the other settings. I tried to load tv.com and it would not let me select it from the pull down of devices on my account. I assume this is because we had to do the workaround to get market on the Archos, but wasn't sure if there was anything to do for the new web market place?
I am running Stock Archos software if that makes a difference.
Some items are protected, some aren't. If an item is protected our devices will be greyed out in the drop down list because the firmware isn't on googles accepted list.
I might give this (more here) a whirl a little later on, see if I can get access to them, but I don't know how successful it will be.
(EDIT - the suggestions that I linked to above will need to be done in dev mode. More than likely within UrukDroid as you need to have root and read/write access to /system)
Yes, it's definitly the "protected"-problem
I tried to install "GUN BROS" but I couldn't so I started the market app on my A101IT and searched for it: no results. So I think this is a protected app/game.
I tried again with an app I know it's unprotected (because I installed it previously using the market app and removed it again) and it's working!
gun bros
Hello,
for finding gun bros again, u have to uninstall market update...
make this clear, in aplication mynager where u usually do the "market fix"
u can uninstall market. but not the whole market, if u got an update for the market u can uninstall and use the old version. depends on which version u installed. there are several ways and versions.
the market fix did not find gun bros any more, but the uninstall update did it for me. even after getting the update again, i can still find gun bros. dunno why.
i had the version with arctools 0.43 or 034. dont know there is a new one out. and i dont know what it downloads (package) so if u can klick on "uninstall update" where usually stands just "uninstall" then it might help u.
ps: gun bros got an update to 1.3.0 it FC . so no gun bros at the moment. installed or not....
i hope i could explain goog enough what i mean.
greets from germany.
how to gain access to the protected apps
if you want to download a protected app just first get an market place if you dont have one:
I recommend arc tools from apps lib here
then just very easily root your archos device using archangels method is the easiest way here
after you get root download market enabler for free from the market and use it to enable tmobile usa market place

Didn't work for me. Still missing apps like Tank Hero. Also, causing my settings to force close, so I can't clear my market apps cache.
Have you tested this on an Archos device? Is it working for you?

Its because you need to have the google services framework installed too. My suggestion would be to install a new rom (not from china) due to the fact that it probably is a problem with it being from china (china- google problems). If you want you can install the framework and apps manually but that will probably require root access (che k sticky in development section)
Good luck

Hi
I am a newbie to Andriod and this forum so please be gentle with me.
I have just purchased a Star 9500 (Samsung S4 clone). Android version 4.2.2
Brand alps
Model 2206_jbla763_f
CPU MTK MT6589
Whilst familarising myself with this device and installing a few apps I decided to install AVG Antivirus from the playstore. I ran the program only to find one threat (malware discovered in play store app). Playstore version 4.5.10
Knowing that virus checkers give various results I decided to install a second checker so installed TrustGo antivirus and moble security and ran this program. Again it indicated malware in playstore app this time a bit more information
Threat low
Threat Adware AdUUCun.A2Andriod
This app uses UUCUN ad network. It may collect identifying information about your device such as its unique device ID (IMEI) etc.
recommendation uninstall app.
Now comes my dilemma
Having only just purchased this device I do not want to brick it in the first week of ownership
Is there a simple solution.
I understand you cannot uninstall system files? I assume as PLay Store came on the device it is considered a system file.
If I do manage to uninstall Play Store how do I reinstall?
Will I need to root this device to get at this app and if so can anyone supply a proceedure in simple speak.
Also I am keen to learn more about Android rooting upgrading to latest Android versions and there seems to be masses of information out there
but all very confusing so if someone can point me at a place to start it would be much appreciated.
many thanks for any advise in advance
strange, just tried AVG also in my nexus 5, no threat in playstore 4.5.10?! maybe, the manufacturer of your star has installed a nodded version of play store, and those signature does not seem correct to avg!
without rooting, you can try to install a clean play store apk:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...-play-store-activity-iap-indicators-and-more/
.. maybe you have to push this into your sys/app folder, for what you need root rights!
try to install it without root rights, if this won't work, root or ignore :/
How to fix Virus reported in Play Store App?

Thanks for your input.
I have tried what you suggested and downloaded a clean version of Play Store.
It seemed to install but after running virus checker again same error exists.
I tried to uninstall the original play store but was not allowed too. So doubt if original has been overwritten.
From my limited knowledge it appears I will need to root the Star9500 MT6589 - remove play store and try again.
Does anyone have a simple proceedure to root this Chinese phone as I do not wish to end up with a door stop after only a week of "use".
cheers
Hi all,
I have a ZTE S2004 from China that does not have the usual pre-installed Google apps. I had e-mailed the manufacturer (both the North American and Chinese customer service) and was notified that because the phone is from China, it does not support Google services.
I recently found out about and downloaded KingRoot v4.5 and Root Explorer v3.3.5 to try and install Google APKs as described in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874285. I installed the APKs , then changed the permissions to align with the other APK files, restarted the phone and then tried to install the apps via the APKS. They all said installation successful, but the apps crash and do not work, with the error message reading "Unforunately [program] has stopped".
Thanks.

Most likely because that thread is 3 years old. The apps are very outdated. Would try the same steps with the updated version of the Google apps.

Sorry I forgot to mention that the phone is using Android version 4.4.4 and I read that some of the APKs only supported 5.0+. I am unsure how to proceed.

Should just need the Play Store and Google Services Framework installed to get started. With 4.4, they should be placed into /system/priv-app with the correct permissions. 0644 I believe. Once placed there, permissions set, and rebooted, you should be able to access the store and download the rest of the stuff you need. I'd just grab them from a 4.4 Gapps package. They will be slightly outdated, but should be easily updatable.

I have encountered a problem with the Play Store installation. I had downloaded a newer version of Google Play Store and have tried to uninstall it, but it still remains and I fear it is blocking the 4.4.4 version. I cannot remove it by using the default removal option or even root explorer. I attempted to reset the phone but that has not worked either.
The installation for Google Services Framework was successful, but when I tried to use the Google Play Store, it would open and subsequently close immediately, no error message showing and the process itself still running.
So you've deleted it with Root Explorer and it came back after reboot or there was an error when trying to remove it?

I am unsure which custom ROMs are available, as I have been unable to find any for my phone model, S2004. The most common ones I've seen are the ZTE Blade and ZTE Warp.

Any update on this ? I have the same phone and it's useless without the google related apps (and it would be great to have a newer version of android on it too)
Thanks,
