I used to be able to double tap my HOME button on my droid and it would automatically launch the VoiceTalk app while I was driving. Then I updated the firmware to allow for WI-FI calling and now it no longer launches the app. I can't figure out how to set it back up. So here I am posting to you great and all knowing people....looking for an answer. It is not a setting that I manually did, that I am aware of, as I have 2 of these phones and both of them have the same issue.
Thanks in advance!
Post Edit: I contacted T-Mobile and apparently, they removed it from the double tap feature and if you now hold down the search glass in the lower right hand corner, it will bring up 4 apps you can use. I still like the double tap feature, but might have to live with this change....

With both my OG Evo and Evo 3D I was able to long press the search button and bring up a voice command/search window. I was able to say something like "set timer for 15 minutes" and the clock app would open with the timer set for 15 minutes and then all I had to do was press "set" or "save" or whatever and it was done. You could also set the alarm clock in the same way.
Obviously, there is so search button on the LTE. I have tried both the search bar and the GVS button in the market, but both to the same thing-----it does a web search for the phrase, which is useless. Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing? I really miss this functionality.
well $hit......NOW it works. I tried this for half an hour yesterday and finally gave up. The only setting change I made was to change language from "automatic" to "English-US" but I can't imagine why that would make a difference. Sorry for the interruption. Please return to your regularly scheduled program.

i put it on that perma-bar in the lower right corner.
someone is working on mapping it to the multi-task button as a long press. i'm waiting for that too, although i'd like to see it mapped to a press of the camera hardware button from anywhere myself.

You didn't say how you got it working...are you long pressing a hardware key? Or did you find a widget? I REALLY miss the hardware key. Of all the buttons to remove. Really stupid. You can remove the back key by having a back gesture. Same with an up gesture for menu and three finger swipe for window cycling. But the search? dubya tee eff?!!

Hi guys this is correct. This only works if you set your voice input and output setting to English us as this is the only one currently supported by Google at the minute. To do this got to settings/voice input & output/voice recognizer settings/language/English US. Hope this helps.
Hi guys,
i need to disable double tap to wake up my H850.
How can i do this?
Thanks
There may be an easier way, but I carried over the same technique that I used on my G4...
Get QuickShortcutMaker from the Play Store. In the app, do a search on "knock."
This will yield a result for "settings." Tap that, and it will expand to reveal two "KnockOn" settings.
Tap either one of those, and it will open an "Edit Shortcut" screen. Tap the "Try" option, and this will open the KnockOn settings. In there, you can turn off the feature.
Doesn't matter which of the settings you choose, both will ultimately take you to a screen where you can turn it off.
Best of all, you don't need root (thank goodness).
On the Mate 10, when you have the on-screen navigation buttons, a double tap of the task button automatically switches to the last app and back and forth. I can't see how to replicate this with the single gesture key when hiding the on-screen navigation buttons.
I also wish you could customise the gestures:
Swipe to left, go back.
Press once, go to home.
Press and hold, tasks view.
I think this makes logical sense.
Btw, I love this phone.
I think its a copyright issue with regards to your second point.
Regarding your first point, switching apps with fp is not featured yet. But its a good idea and you should send it as feedback using the Hicare app. Either a double tap of fp to switch between last app, or configure the swipe left to do so (while the swipe right remains as "back") or maybe all together do a iphone x style swipe from bottom of screen to switch between apps.

To be honest I have no idea why we the consumer figure out this last app shortcut is a must, what happen to their software engineers, eating donuts too?

Are you aware of other manufacturers havings similar switch to last app on their fp button ? Probably all eating donuts I guess. Or maybe figure out that moving software navigation to fp guestures will have gaps and compromises.
And fyi, the switch between last app was implemented on emui first before android officially implemented it.

Are you a software engineer? Anyways I am guilty I am a regular on Krispy Kreme, Anyways I know double clicking recent app does bring you to the last app, what I am saying is there should be more easy way to do it because on Mate 10 its a lot better not showing the soft key 3 buttons on the bottom, I am asking about that they should place a shortcut on the fingerprint gesture which they don't, you can't double swipe the F sensor to go to last app, or the floating white button because it requires you to press and hold it and swipe up or left to call a command. When you have the Mate 10 you will understand what I mean, and I am not talking about other phones, I just want to remind you may be you missed it, this is the Mate 10 forum or may be I am wrong.
Did you found a solution to this "problem" because I really miss that feature. Doble tap to switch to last app.
I'm so sad because this option disappeared

OHHHHHHH lmao. soz
Hey Friends,
i noticed, that unlike other phones, I am having the issue of having to tap twice on the screen to get the phone to react.
More specifically, when I am scrolling up (for example the whatsapp contact list) and I tap on a contact shortly after the scrolling has hit the top the app will not go into the contact despite the tap.
I have to wait 1-2 seconds and then tap for it to actually register the tap itself.
I am having a similar tap issue with the nav bar below. I find myself often tapping twice on the circle to get to home. Somehow the hits are not registering in time/correctly.
To my surprise, there are apps (e.g. the home drawer) that react on the first tap.
Anyone with similar issues?
anyone?

I'm having similar issues but went to settings/ smart assistance and messed with "touch disable mode and glow mode"
Also try settings/ language and imput/ pointer speed.
I'm giving this a try for a couple of days before my return period expires good luck!
Case closed?
I thought i was the only one since i hadn't seen anybody post about it
I finally decided to remove the "tempered glass" which after removal I realized its not tempered glass, but a very thick screen protector (don't know what brand, I got this phone from a friend). So I was hoping that the screen protector is the culprit and YES, after removal my touchscreen sensitivity is better now. I wouldn't say it's performing perfectly, but it's much better than before. No more typo every now and then lol.
Edit:
Still getting trouble (just less frequent than before) especially when im typing fast, the letter S and A usually missed out. For example, i typed "missed" but result is "mised". And spacebar too! So annoying
Also like OP, nav bar sometimes i hv to tap twice.
i have problem with navbar not responding for about 1.5 sec after doing some stuff on homescreen. workaround for me was to switch to different navbar style after phone reboot. after next one delay returns. reported it to huawei and we'll see what happens. im on 8.0.0.129. to reproduce just tap anywhere on screen and then rigt after try to press any button on the navbar.
Same here, had touch issue since day 1. Sometimes it ignores space, sometimes I have a hard time using gesture with OnePlus gestures and so on. Gloves mode help a bit. Probably some digitiser are worse and the software can compensate only so much. I mean you can always use the warranty...
I enable quick tap and it works for a few minutes then does not. Change what it does or on and off works for a sec. What's up?
One hand mode works for a little bit then full screen on it's own.

As much as I don't like to bump a thread I'll make the exception here once.
1. Under system - gestures - quick tap, you can set a few different options for double tap on the back of the phone. I tried a couple of the options but decided to go with open notifications. I exit out and double tap and voila it works. Then I turn off the display or flip to shh or even put it in my pocket. When I take it out it no longer works. If I open settings and close it without doing anything it begins to work again. Wait a few minutes with screen off and it stops working. Am I missing something?
2. One handed mode. Either enable it for swipe down from bottom or a shortcut on the homescreen and it works. But as I'm reading it all of a sudden goes full screen again without even touching the phone.
So if anyone can replicate this behavior I'd be curious. I understand it's not a most used feature but it seems like a bug to me.

I have turned Quick Tap off because it doesn't work consistently for me. As you noted, it seems like it only works once you turn it on and/or you go back to the setting. Maybe this will be addressed in a future update?

I haven't used one handed mode much, so I can't weigh in on this one.
