I bought this tablet:
Link: http://www.aliexpress.com/product-g...220-Super-Pad-HD-10-2-Tablet-wholesalers.html
And found out that it is a knockoff of the original ibex FlyTouch 3. This tablet model number is : SAWEE10. Instead of Disco10 or disco. I was wondering if there is any chance of running a custom ROM on it.?
The original flytouch comes with an 8000mAh battery while this comes with a 5600mAh battery.
If there is no chance of a custom ROM, can I even root this device and make a ROM backup so that I can try removing useless apk's? I think there might be an internal microSD card that contains the ROM, so I am planning on making a copy of it and then messing around with it.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
Hey did you ever find out what you can do with that knockoff you have? I have the same one and can't find anything on the net. Everyone in the forums tell me to return the tablet. That's not a challenge to me
I received it and found out that the Model number is : SAWEE10. It auto shuts off every 30 minutes or so. Playing back 720p mkv's are no problem, but gaming lags and games like raging thunder misread the accelerometer data, so it cannot be used. But Doodle Jump works fine
But no custom ROM for this model???
Sadly, none yet. But the stock ROM is not that bad as it is. I will open mine up soon and make a backup of the internal MicroSD card. Then I am going to remove all the useless apps and junk that comes preloaded.
What app are you using for "system info" I see from the site you got your tablet from, it has a ARM11 cpu. The site I got mine says the same, but when I run this info app I got, it says I have a ARMv6 in mine. Maybe thats why its so damn slow. It also says 791Mips
ARM11 CPU's are based on the ARMv6 architecture. Just like how the Galaxy S2 is an ARM Cortex A9 based on the ARMv7 architecture.
The app I am using is called 'Android System Info' : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.electricsheep.asi&hl=en
If you refer here: http://cnmaxever.com/blog/armv6-arm11-chips-telechips-tcc8902-infotmic-imapx200-zenithink-zt-180/
You will find that 1MIPS is 1.2MHz. Mine is the Infotmix IMAPX200 and says 839MIPS. So it is running at 1GHz.
Mind sharing the link you bought yours from?
I know it might be a little slow, but the multimedia performance is better than my old laptop with a 1.4GHz pentium 4 with 2GB of RAM.
Playing 1080p mp4 music videos and 720p mkv's through HDMI out is no problem at all. And games like Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds and Cut the Rope run quite well.
If you want to improve your touchscreen responsiveness, use this: https://market.android.com/details?id=br.shop4apps.touchscreenbooster.com&hl=en
Thanks for the links. That touchscreen booster made a big difference.
Here's the link where I got mine from. I can't remember the vendor, but there are
several hundred. I also just ordered some 7" models.
SORRY WON'T LET ME POST THE LINK I GOT THIS MESSAGE
"To prevent spam to the forums, ALL new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. After approximately eight posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thanks for understanding!"
It came from dhgate dot com. just do a search for 10.2 1ghz 512mb tablets and you will get several hundred vendors.
If I can figure out the vendor I will re-post it to you. But I would not buy from
again, had a hard time with the seller on some issues. But there are plenty of
others to choose from.
I also ordered and received the original 10.2" Ibex tablet, but not able to play with it yet since it came to me with a cracked screen. Waiting for the screen replacement.
Yeah, new members cannot post links. You need 8 posts to post links.
I like the tablet a lot actually. I got mine at a crazy cheap price, so I don't really care. The Ibex one costs a bomb(almost twice of what I paid for mine). At that price I would rather save a bit more and buy myself the Galaxy Tab 10...
And like I said, the stock ROM is not that bad. It can be improved with other apps and task killers.
So you are giving up on your first tablet and moving onto the Ibex one?
No I still like the knock off. And as you said the Stock ROM is not bad at all. If I can't find the app on its favor of Market, I just download the app as a apk file and then install it. Most of the time they work. I did open mine up and there isn't a sd memory card in it. I just got the new touch screen for the Ibex and replaced that over the weekend and flashed it with the Tim6a. Works fine. The Ibex did have a removable sd card inside. Also just got 2 7" tablets from the same place as the knock off. They are 1ghz processor 1gig memory and 8gig drive space. I really love the 7" ones. Very fast, really touch sensitive screens and much faster over all. Now I'm looking to see what trouble I can do with them as well
Wow, the 7'' ones have 1GB of RAM? That is huge!!.
I opened up mine too, and found the MicroSD card in it. Had to delete a bootnimation that was preventing it from coming on, so I used a virtual machine booting puppy linux to access the EXT3 partitions.
And the 7'' ones will always be smoother, because the resolution is so much lower than the 10'' ones.
Yeah I think I like the 7" ones much better for now. I even just ordered another one from this place. Its 1.5ghz and has ICS 4.0 Beta on it. So I wana play with that now too
http://www.merimobiles.com/Teclast_P76ti_1_5GHz_CPU_HDMI_8GB_7inch_5_points_p/meri0709.htm
Cap. Screen for only $119. Don't know what Im gona do with all these tablets LOL
Haha, lucky you. I am sticking with my 10'' because it is fantastic for watching movies right off a thumbdrive. And it plays it equally well when outputting 1080p to my TV.
Good day everyone,
I'm stuck in a predicament and looking for some assistance into taking a decision.
- I want to buy my wife a 7" Tablet, she will use it for reading on the train and such but also internet browsing at home and media use.
- screen has to be good, now my issue is that there's so many out there and I have a limited budget, max 300$.
- With so many tablets out it's getting harder and harder to chose, (A100, A1, B&T Tablet, Kindle Fire, Galaxy Tab 7+
now I've been reading a lot about them and they're all good choices, but there's a always a little something that keeps me from choosing a clear winner.
Also to note I'm looking for a tablet that can offer the full android experience (market, launchers), I've included Kindle fire and Nook Tablet because I'm looking at the possibility of flashing roms on them unlock their full potential.
Preferred Specs:
RAM: 1GB RAM
Storage: At least 16GB otherwise uSD slot
Processor: Dual-Core
OS: Eventually support ICS with HA, the thing about HA is that apparently Nook Tablet might not support it because the kernel ver. is too low and doesn't support HA. I don't know if that's a software issue or hardware limitation.
The only one that doesn't fit the profile is the Galaxy Tab as it's 400$, otherwise i'd be the number 1 choice hands down, this thread wouldn't exist if that was the case.
A100: Issues are mainly battery life, not much Dev, support. (Official ICS dunno about HA)
Kindle Fire: 8GB storage, no expansion, ROMS TBD
Nook Tablet: Locked Bootloader, ROMS TBD (Older Kernel, no HA for ICS TBD)
Lenovo A1: Low RAM, Old processor (thinking ICS w/ HA)
Any1 can shed some additional info that can help assist me into finally picking the right tab.
Thank you in advance
Rodi

bump for new section
I always narrow down to low priced tablets, which leave you with the Kindle Fire and the Nook Tablet. The Kindle Fire is, for some bloody reason, powered by Froyo so I kill that and suggest the Nook Tab.
I'd suggest to take the Vizio Vtab1008 into account, it has only a single core CPU 1ghz 512mb ram and is 8'' but its a very nice device with a good display and it costs ~200$ only
And it sports a nice it blaster to use it as a nice universal remote for home entertainment...
Hi to all.
Has anyone tried it or is aware of any review on Easypix Easypad EP970? I am thinking on buying one, since specs look very good without me being an expert on CPU performance data (9.7 capacitive, Rockchip R2918 1.2Ghz, 1Gb, 8Gb, 8000mAh, Gingerbread) and price is rather low for these specs.
Also, does anyone know of any custom ROM for it? The source code is readiy available from their site so I guess someone with knowledge can do it easily.

unfortunately this tablet is not focused from many people - the price and specs are fine - i would say the closest competitor is the Archos Arnova 9 G2
better specs vs better screen for 240€ - i would like to see a video about the quality of the easypad 970 screen
Android 4.0 for Rockchip 2918: Link
Thanks. So, am I right to assume that any Rockchip 2918 9.7" based ICS or Honeycomb ROM would do for the Easypad as well?
Talking about the Arnova 9 G2, it looks interesting indeed. Slightly slower CPU, one camera less, slightly thicker, but 50 Euro less!!
On the Arnova's downside, no mention on the battery capacity though (will be hard to beat Easypad's 8000mAh), and worse of all not avaiable for sale as yet.
I guess Prestigio will be coming soon with a similar model as well.

There would be still a ROM portation nessecary to adjust certain aspects and implement certain driver. But at least it should be simple for experienced Modder.

Yeah at beginning next year there will be some very similar and interesting devices in the low budget area.
Archos Arnova 9 G2; 10 G2
Easypad 970,
Prestigio
and also Coby Link
For now the Archos has the biggest community, i think root is already possible for Arnova 9 G2, because of the similarity to the Arnova 10 G2. Maybe next year other devices will be community or company supportet as well - unfortunately no one can really say.
Interestingtimes ahead then.
I think it is wiser not to rush now and wait for next year. Let's see.
Thanks
the easypad970 seems to be a good purchase now
Link
its identical to cube U9GT2
therefore easy to root and Android 4.0 final release is coming soon
Happy new year.
I got the 970 a couple of days before the new year. I couldn't resist the temptation when I had it in front of me. I also bought one for my bro as well.
Already I rooted it with Gingerbreak (minor snag after that, during shutdown, but workaround by another app), loaded with apps, and tested on dlna multimedia servers, etc etc.
Generally happy with it. Now is about time to experiment with ICS. Just to confirm that I can use a U9GT2 ROM without a problem, even though this one has 8Gb NAND instead of 16Gb of U9GT2?
Sorry for the noob question
BTW thanks for the links. Great help!!
grz - i got one too its cheap, good performance, good quality, and has a excellent display
i would recommend to change the Launcher and the Keyboard, to e.g.:
Go Launcher Ex and Hacker´s Keyboard
for Gaming install Chainfire3DPro and within Chainfire install OpenGL Driver
for Gameloft Games, like Order & Chaos you need to change the build.prop (\System): Link (Thread #8)
HardKeyboard + Mouse + USBStick work also fine
and yes - you can use the Cube u9gt2 ROMs - the USB Driver doesnt work as fine as the
970 but it works - with a installed cube ROM u need to use a RKManager to switch off the Tablet,
then press Volume (-) + Power keep pressing and put the USB cable in the computer, then
the Device will be recognized from the RKManager und you can take away the Fingers
Thanks for the good info. Congrats on your new gadget!
Will try games etc, but at the moment I am trying to find the best calendar and contacts apps in order to sync with Outlook and keep the categories, and some networking functions.
There is something in the German forum that you kindly provided the link, that I need to clear up: "richtet 1GB anstatt 500MB für Apps ein". Google translation implies not clearly that if I use the Cube ROM, it gives me 1Gb for installing apps instead of 500Mb as in Easypad. Is that correct?
If so, out of curiosity then, any ideas why Easypix gave us only 500Mb (which have almost run out on mine and I am also using Apps2SD)? And where does Cube take that extra space from? Is it from the NAND Flash memory which it has double than ours? If so, then we Easypad owners wouldn't have any problem with half the NAND and even then reduced by another 500Mb? Or is it just too trivial and I shouldn't bother about it? Because I need that 1Gb badly

Hey,
I'm one of those germans with an Easypad 970
Well I upgraded my stroage for Apps from 500mb to 1gb without any problems. I think the Cube U9GT2 Rom upgrade changed the partition sizes too. So we will lose 500mb from the normal NAND flash an can use it for apps.
greetings
yes its a decision for the ROM maker between more storage for the system or for the user - i really prefer 1GB for Apps
I would recommend the new Cube Firmware 1.05 = Android 4.0.3 (Source), i tried this one out the whole day and im very pleased. It runs very stable, has 1GB for Apps, flash works and some Apps look really good with ICS.
for Calendar - i use "Jorte" and youtube is here
Good.
I am also thinking of installing this specific firmware (or any update) by next week and hope by that time someone will fix the adb issue.
Did you notice any improvement on battery life?
no unfortunately i didnt notice any improvement in battery life, and in the next days we will see probably some more ROMs so there is no need to hurry
Hi, I also have the Easypad 970 and very pleased with the quality of the screen and overall speed of the tablet. Unfortunately, it seems there are some devices (like mine) with faulty/bad WiFi chips and this is a real problem. Currently, trying to get it fixed with easypix support and respons is OK so far. Tomorrow I will try to get an RMA for it.
Hello everyone,
I recently acquired a 7" tablet from my parents as a birthday present, and I have a niggling problem with it, but first I need to properly identify it.
Help me identify it
I know it is an Archos, it was bought from Argos in the UK, branded as an ALBA 7" Tablet. Using CPU-Z I see it is an Archos, but I can't identify exactly which model. The Board is listed as an AC70PLV2, it uses a MediaTek MT8127 chipset. Can anyone tell me exactly what Archos model it comes under? Cobalt? What Gen is it? If I Google AC70PLV2 only the Argos page comes up, no other results.
My issue
It is running Android 5.0.1, I have inserted a 16GB SD card, and there is NO Move to SD option, anywhere for apps. It only has 8GB of storage, 4.23GB of it is used by Firmware, leaving me with only 3.72GB usable after disabling all non-removable bloat. If I cannot move game data to the SD the tablet is useless to me and I'll have to regrettably ask my mum to take it back. I saw on some forum that if I go into Storage in Settings, then click Apps, then the three dots at top right, there should be a Storage Preferences option allowing me to change default storage to SD, but there isn't, only "Sort by Name", and "Reset App Preferences".
Installing games like GTA, SBK 14, and the new Android Tomb Raider temple run style game, all make the data be installed on internal memory, and as far as I can tell there is no emulated SD on it. There appear to be folders on the external SD for the games, but it isn't using them, it's using internal.
I've come from an Ace 2 phone which had Cyanogen 10.2 custom ROM, everything was perfect with it, and all big apps could be moved, as I swapped the storages around on it. Is there a Custom ROM for my tablet that I can do the same? I'd take screenshots but don't think this stock thing has the option. It's a cracking tablet, just this one issue for large games is a dealbreaker. I can run videos, pics and music off the external SD just fine. My dad's Galaxy S5 is running Android 5.0, his has a Move to SD option, and that's with stock TouchWiz
Anyone that can help I thank you so much. I don't want to demean myself having to ask my mum to take it back I have a feeling Archos have nobbled it, but that's crazy as it only has 3.7GB usable. One final thing is I DON'T want to be using 3rd party move to SD apps. This option has been built into Android for as long as I remember, why it's missing now I don't know.
Hello,
This tablet has to be an Archos Platinum 70.
This id matches in the build.prop of mine, altough both ac70plv2 and ac70pl3 appear, the latter being used as a model id for OTA updates, so I suspect I might have a newer revision.
Otherwise, the two tablets look like clones based on what I can find on the Alba-branded one.
This tablet boasts Archos' new trick called "unified storage", where space provided by an external SD card is supposed to be merged with internal storage, transparently making it bigger.
Obviously this doesn't seem to work this way on yours. DIfferent firmware version?

Thankyou lannig! I was curious about the unified storage, but no it doesn't seem to work. It appears to treat them the same, but once the internal is filled the "Insufficient storage" error keeps coming up, not giving me the option to use the external. Archos have just updated their website, and the Platinum 70 is indeed the same one as mine, I hunted for hours on their site and it wasn't there before. Sadly I've decided to ask my mum to see if she can get me a 16GB tablet, but it's nearing the 30 day limit, she doesn't have the money just yet, so I may end up stuck with the Platinum. A real shame, if it had 16GB internal storage it'd be perfect, but 8GB is the only option they offer for this model.
Well, if you're a very, very daring soul, you may want to try applying the OTA firmware update meant for the Archos Platinum 70.
It can be found at http://update.archos.com/AFMv1/storage/files/full/ac70plv3/20150723.065346/update-from-archos.zip
You'll have to install it from stock recovery.
Since I suspect there might be subtle hardware differences between the Archos-branded model and yours, there's a significant risk of bricking it. You have been warned.

Thanks again Lannig, although there's no need for that, as today my tablet was replaced, and I am one HAPPY bunny! I've received the 8 Inch Bush Spira B1 32GB (An Archos AC80DPL) as a replacement, and it has the default storage switch option that the Alba was missing, so now I have 64GB of switchable space including my SD card! I KNEW someone had crippled that cheapo Alba!
You've been wonderful with your advice, thankyou ever so much for taking the time to help me, I really appreciate it, and will do the same for you if I ever see you needing rescuing from a disaster, SuperNerd James to the rescue!
Well, thanks for the feedback. Glad to know that it turned out this way for you
And you're quite welcome.
Didn't realize that these Archos tablets were being sold rebranded under so many different names abroad...
Bush Spira 8" 32 GB
That's weird. I've got the same Bush Spira tablet as you but I don't have the option to combine the internal and external memory. In fact, the opposite is true. I can't write anything to the external micro sd card at all, seems like they nobbled this one too, obviously after you got it.
What is your firmware version? Seems like I've got a different version.

I need to get a tablet and would like to get a Chinese one as you get a lot more for the money but what do people recommend? I'd like one with a large high res screen with at least 2GB ram and preferably a metal body. I've been looking at the dual boot windows/android ones but not sure what to go for....
Oh it needs good dev support too!
Any ideas guys?
Thank

According to your request, I found this tablet: PIPO W1S, 10.1 Inch screen, 1920*1200 pixels display; 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM; Windows 10. More details to see the official website: http://www.pipo-store.com/pipo-w1s.html
Another interesting choice is the Chuwi Hi10. I personally bought it (shipping via DHL as we speak, so can;t offer any reviews) and will let you know how it behaves. There is a thread on the forum from someone that already received. it.

My new PIPO W1S from this pipo-store arrived in good shape yesterday. It works fine via Windows 10.
Overall, performance is good. It is fast and doesn't crash, lag, or have any problems, and I am very happy with it.
