I'm planning on getting an Galaxy Ace and i'm rhinking on installing a custom rom probably icecream sunday or gingerReal, but i have some questions:
1. Do these roms root my device or do i have to root first?
2. In the case of ICS final, if i want to install the latest slaidmod do i have to install ICS with or without tweaks?
3. How do these roms perform in soft gamong like angry birds franchise, zombieville, zenonia, most 2d games
4. If i install slaidmod v2 is it ok if i also install turboboost v8.5?
That's it for now
1. No you dont need root only cwm
2. I thought icecreamsunday has mods installed like slaidmod
3. Yes they work fine with games like angry birds

1. No. Most ROMs will auto-root your device.
2. You can install the one with tweaks, since (according to slaid) all his tweaks are backwards-compatible with each other. But then, I've never really tried.
3. Quite well actually. I'm not a fan of angry birds, but games like zenonia have 0 lag.
4. Again, according to slaid, his tweaks are also compatible with GadgetCheck's V8.5.

Thanks guys, but i've been thinking and another option is the xperia x10 that as a machine is a little bit better with 1ghz processor and 384mb of ram and the same adreno 200 but i havent't see a lot of development on that device i mean there aren't so many roms as for the ace and don't know if they are smooth or the performanceof the device, i've seen a few videos on youtube of custom roms and doesn't seem to be really goodand besides it's a 2009 device So tell me if i should go x10 or ace and why pro, cons everything that cross your minds about this

I so want to play this game on my phone..
and considering the benchmark score this game should run smoothly on the xperia x10
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.robotinvader.knightmare
I tried it on stock gingerbread but game was laggy and gameplay was impossible with all the lags..
I am now on Oodie MIUI Prime rom and same problem.
is this game too heavy for xperia x10?
thanks
Check out this thread:

thanks.. so it seems to be working for people have unlocked bootloader.. which I have.. I have oodies kernel and rom.. dont know what might be causing this.
any one got any suggestions for a good memory manager?
thanks
I have it running fine on Zdzihu's CM7 Z MOD on Doomlord's bootmanager for unlocked bootloaders, it's a bit slow in going through menus but the game itself works fine
alright.. so now it no longer runs laggy.. it does not run at all..
it just forces my phone into a restart
is this bcz of kernel or rom?
what should I change?
Which Oodie MIUI Prime version / kernel? Link would be great... I will load it up and see how it works fresh (just load up the rom/kernel, sign in to Google, install game) for a test run.
Thanks a lot deviant elf.. I have installed this version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295089

-I flashed the default kernel (first kernel, there were 3 on the kernel page), then the rom.
-Added my WiFi network
-Signed into Google, accessed market, downloaded Windup Knight...
-Nothing else, didn't change any settings or install anything.
It randomly caused the phone to reboot each time I played it. There was lag in the part before game play, but the actual game played fine... til it rebooted. I'd have to say the rom and it don't get along... though I'm no where near knowledgeable to tell you why.
It works fine on mine stock gingerbread.

I was wondering why Zenonia 4 is very Slow on Ace...
I cant use Chainfire Etheir not working
Cause its for 1+ghz
SGA is 800 only
Why They make the App installable on Ace? Whats the purpose...
Also is there a way to overclock Ace?
Some say Overclocking Is not supported on Stock Rom
And I heard that the combination of Working CH3D and SetCpu Can run HD games at their Best on Ace!
I I use SetCPU and I cannot notice The Changes.
All I know for know is Rooting sorry
I am studying Flashing of Roms etc..
Using (root)Mobile ODIN and I cant understand it,all i know its very complicated

Hi..
Yes zenonia 4 is slow on Ace if you talk about playing it on Stock(non modded) rom. I have played the game on various roms like Ics sunday, Omega etc most imp what I want to say is I played on Custom Rom with tweaks & scripts flashed on my cell..
As far as rooting & flashing Custom roms goes, I would suggest you to browse some posts & read..Its a very simple process once you have done the reading work..
To make things short,
In Layman terms Rooting gives u admin rights on ur device.
Flashing Custom rom doesnt require your device to be rooted.
I would recommend instead to installing CH3d first Flash some good barebone rom which would have no crappy appz that eats up ur Ram.
About how to flash them, I will just give a quick overview:
Step1: Install Clockwork Mod v5.0 (Just google it or browse though some old posts, You dont need Odin, trust me )
Step2: Install the Rom ( Procedure is present in all the Released Roms post)
P.S: I m purposely not giving you a walk through to these process..
Have Fun with Your Ace...n rem: ACE IS NOT A LOW ACTIVITY DEVICE
Press Thanks If I helped You

Let's all play Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation XD
Herpderp Defy.
yes.lets play it but i can only play 1 and 2 not 3
Guys what combination of rom and kernel do u most prefer for mni pro coz i been having a trial and error about this roms and kernel...tnx for the answers and explanation on why...
I am having the same issues. I find X Kernel gives the best battery life for Ginger Bread ROMs. I have yet to find a ROM that I am satisfied with. Currently I am running a rooted .62 and finding that to be the best balance. I have removed a bunch of apps based on the tutorial in this forum.
So far I've used the stock 4.0.4 ICS ROM with different kernels.
My most favorite kernels that were working are:
EXtended Stock Kernel - v2 4.1.B.0.431 (had a great battery usage... the most I got on-battery with this one was 22 hours with some light usage)
Rage Kernel v3.2 (i loved this one because of the swap and the ability to OC your CPU, but the battery performance was somewhat lower than the EXtended Stock Kernel - v2...)
You can always try the KRsH Kernel v3.0 but I didn't really like that one.
And currently I'm using the CM 9 RC1 ROM (check their official site) with FXP126 kernel and still testing the performance and stuff. So far I like this one more than all previous.
I hope this helps you out a little bit.
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. And don't forget to hit the thanks button if this helped you a tiny bit
can you give me a link for tutorial for apps removing?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089470
This link has apps that can be safely removed from the Xperia Arc. I removed the same apps from the Mini Pro without issue. The apps can be removed using Titanium backup on a rooted device.

ICS ROMs are in my opinion still work in progress, buggy if you will.
KRsH kernel v3 is very good at battery consumption
For stability, speed etc I prefer GB ROMs though.
Like CM7.2RC3 + Rage kernel, or Spartan ROM if you like stock. Also on Rage.
In the end it depends what you like. There is no absolute best ROM or kernel.
everyone likes different things.

Thank You very much
how about the combination for gaming guys??? do u have any idea?
and if i am using ics wht should a choose?
ICS sucks.. Bravia doesn't work on my minipro if i dont use xperia gallery app
+1 .. IMHO i prefer to use GB than ICS for a better gaming performance..my current ROM is real ICS lite 29th june, and my kernel is Rage Kernel v3.2 (which i suggest you it's worth to try)..and when im playing some HD game it's still LAGGY (which is not laggy in my previous GB ROM) like Vlachmed said.. i choose this kernel because of its swap capability..i really wanna go back to GB but cant find my old ROM's thread.. (Hybrom V17) apparently the dev has left XdA (too bad)
sorry for my bad english and grammar..
Best Rom and Kernel
Personally I use Real ICS and the kernel is Rage Kernel v3.2 ICS and my phone runs very fast and smooth
Gingerbread
For Gingerbread you can try NeroDroid , and Rage Kernel 3.0
After trying out many custom roms I have decided to try and make a performance test and see how custom roms perform relative to Samsung stock rom.
It is a stock XWLPX ROM with Dorimanx kernel.
To be honest the stock Rom is my primary Rom and all custom time where run as secondary.
Custom Rome include BluRom V5, NeatRom 3.3, Sensation 4.1, insanity ii ICS and JB. I excluded Custom Stock 2 and punisher since they were lagging to begin with.
The test wad done using CF-BENCH and wad performed right after a clean install except for the stock that had my full apps array installed.
Since the primary and secondary roms share the same kernel, the all tested with Dorimanx 5.80.
The results are that the stock outperformed all of them by quite a distance.
The most quick of the custom were the BluRom and NeatRom.
The custom roms averaged at these results 10150,3000,6100 the stock Rom averaged at 12500,3400,6440.
I do not know if the fact that they were run as secondary roms has something to do with the result, maybe someone that understands the underlying mechanism can comment on that, but that's it.
Nevertheless the customs had some advantage over the stock in styling and appearance when my favorite is the Bluarom V5.
Your opinions, experience is much welcome.
I will try some others in the future if anybody will find interest in this.

interesting man.
I had JellyBean MIUI for a while then I switched back to Standard Samsung based MIUI because I felt battery life wasn't as good on JellyBean without samsung sources.
So yeah

In my experience JB roms are not so good yet and their biggest problem is the memory leak that cause the phone to lagg big time unless you reset it once a day or two.

I never understood the stability or reliability of benchmark results, but maybe there are. The thing is, even if the results were way better in custom ROM I'd never give a damn about it and keep using stock ROMs.
Anyway, thanks to you for doing the comparison.

Bluetooth works - but not with music using loudspeaker
Hello friends,
I've just yesterday instaled the BluRom V5 by Blur75 ... IT IS AMAZING ... in my opinion )).
So tadoy when I was triyng to conect to my bluetooth car sistem (parot CK3100) is everything working OK - I mean it conects and I can talk over the phone witout problem.
The thing that does'nt work is the when I try to play music or even a video in my phone - and hear it over the car loudspeaker. In this case it is not transmitting the sound ((( .
Before I've had the 2.3.6 Gingerbread and using the app "Supermono Froyo" without a single problem :good:...
So somebady can help me with this -
THANK A LOT IN ADVANCE

Update
Chamileon 1.3 got good results much like Blurom and neatrom which means it also does not beat the Samsung stock.
I also did a test using a xwlpu stock deodexed rom as my secondary rom and it got results a bit better then the custom roms but not as good as the stock xwlpt rom which is odexed rom.
My conclusion is that most of the performance difference comes from the fact that all custom roms are deodexed. Maybe one of you devs can create the exact same rom - lets say chamileon - odexed abd deodexed and I will test both and report back with the results.

Hi,
I have Galaxy Nexus and flash it a lot. So I'm not newbie.
But I'm a total newbie once we talk about X10 Mini.
What are the most important things I must do with my Mini?
- CWM? Is there a cwm for mini?
- Titanium?
- Tweaks/tools/apps for speed and performance?
I want to stay with stock ROM.
Thanks for tips.
You flash Android on one divace but you newbie on Android on other divace hmmm
Whell if you wanna stick to Stock :
1.JIT
2.oc/uv module
3. fake DT
4.zipalign
that's it . You cant do much on 2.1 anymore - you keep the best - Camera and Radio and that's all . There no G-play for it you got few apps left on Market which is still support 2.1 and that's it. You can use A2SD via SDext2 from G-play.
spoken in 2 words - Camera and Radio =2.1
Android 2.1 on our small beasts is like driving a tank and shooting out the barrel with a pistol.
It can do so much more

Hi bro welcome to X10 Mini Forum, My tips for you is to Root Your X10mini, Install CWM, unlock the bootloader of it then flash a kernel and rom for it and also use V6 supercharger By Zep and Seeder(flashable zip) By Ryuinferno
that is my tip for u
PS: What is the manufacturing date of your x10 mini??? 2010 or 2011???
For Tools Search it here at XDA
superoneclick(Phone Rooter)
xrecovery(xrecovery will automically upgrade if you flash a new kernel)
flashtool(For Flashing Kernel And Stock Rom/Kerne)l
For ROMS
GB- MiniCM7 2.2.1 By nAa (recommended)
ICS- AOSP Ported by stelios
JB- Any JB Rom You want(only in this forum)
Thanks guys!!
I've got so much info in those three posts.
Let me chew everything now.
Thanks!

Q:
1. Do I need v6 supercharger on top of miniCM7? Is there a thread for X10 mini how to install that V6 supercharger correctly and get most of it?
2. Seeder? This thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987032 ??? Anything specific for X10 mini?

1. V6 supercharger is great for multitasking, no matter what rom. You just have to install busybox and run the v6 script from smanager (search on play store).
2. Seeder is mostly for heavyweight gamers, and not really suited for daily use, as, in my experience, it drains the battery.
