After trying out many custom roms I have decided to try and make a performance test and see how custom roms perform relative to Samsung stock rom.
It is a stock XWLPX ROM with Dorimanx kernel.
To be honest the stock Rom is my primary Rom and all custom time where run as secondary.
Custom Rome include BluRom V5, NeatRom 3.3, Sensation 4.1, insanity ii ICS and JB. I excluded Custom Stock 2 and punisher since they were lagging to begin with.
The test wad done using CF-BENCH and wad performed right after a clean install except for the stock that had my full apps array installed.
Since the primary and secondary roms share the same kernel, the all tested with Dorimanx 5.80.
The results are that the stock outperformed all of them by quite a distance.
The most quick of the custom were the BluRom and NeatRom.
The custom roms averaged at these results 10150,3000,6100 the stock Rom averaged at 12500,3400,6440.
I do not know if the fact that they were run as secondary roms has something to do with the result, maybe someone that understands the underlying mechanism can comment on that, but that's it.
Nevertheless the customs had some advantage over the stock in styling and appearance when my favorite is the Bluarom V5.
Your opinions, experience is much welcome.
I will try some others in the future if anybody will find interest in this.

interesting man.
I had JellyBean MIUI for a while then I switched back to Standard Samsung based MIUI because I felt battery life wasn't as good on JellyBean without samsung sources.
So yeah

In my experience JB roms are not so good yet and their biggest problem is the memory leak that cause the phone to lagg big time unless you reset it once a day or two.

I never understood the stability or reliability of benchmark results, but maybe there are. The thing is, even if the results were way better in custom ROM I'd never give a damn about it and keep using stock ROMs.
Anyway, thanks to you for doing the comparison.

Bluetooth works - but not with music using loudspeaker
Hello friends,
I've just yesterday instaled the BluRom V5 by Blur75 ... IT IS AMAZING ... in my opinion )).
So tadoy when I was triyng to conect to my bluetooth car sistem (parot CK3100) is everything working OK - I mean it conects and I can talk over the phone witout problem.
The thing that does'nt work is the when I try to play music or even a video in my phone - and hear it over the car loudspeaker. In this case it is not transmitting the sound ((( .
Before I've had the 2.3.6 Gingerbread and using the app "Supermono Froyo" without a single problem :good:...
So somebady can help me with this -
THANK A LOT IN ADVANCE

Update
Chamileon 1.3 got good results much like Blurom and neatrom which means it also does not beat the Samsung stock.
I also did a test using a xwlpu stock deodexed rom as my secondary rom and it got results a bit better then the custom roms but not as good as the stock xwlpt rom which is odexed rom.
My conclusion is that most of the performance difference comes from the fact that all custom roms are deodexed. Maybe one of you devs can create the exact same rom - lets say chamileon - odexed abd deodexed and I will test both and report back with the results.

Do all Custom ROMS for all the positive features they may bring always result in less stabililty than a Stock ROM?
I imagine CM7 to be the best....seeing as he works for Samsung also. I certainly found it the best when I had the I9000/Galaxy. However looking at the CyanogenMod forum there are plenty of people raising issues with the builds (including 'stable' builds).
I really enjoy trying different ROMS usually but I am deliberately sticking with a rooted stock at the moment - and it has never froze, crashed or rebooted itself yet! I do miss fiddling with my phone though!
Thoughts/opinions appreciated.
Thanks
criskelo 31 + latest siayh - no problemo )))
Yes.

If you want a stable rom, then use the one in my sig. Oxygen is amongst the most stable roms that are out here. It's almost bugfree, because the creater of the rom, Adam G is a perfectionist.
You have no touchwhizz, just stock android that works. If you are looking for a shiny rom, then this one is not for you. If you want a stable rom and an almost bug free rom, then this one is for you.
ps you won't find this rom on xda, because he does not want that anymore.
Samsung Galaxy SII
try this combination...
*CheckROM Revolution HD v3.1.1 (fast and lite)
*Speedmod-kernel-s2-k2-18-test8-CWM.zip (best battery life)

I don't know if you can say that. It has some coding from CM, drivers etc. But it is supposed to be a stock android rom, the way google intended it, with (almost) no CM stuff.
I got my Galaxy ace a half year ago .. and I tested nearly every rom / mod & theme .
but I am quite searching for a rom that has the best performance, the best speed and it should be very stable - without lags. It don't need to be themed - it can look like a stock rom.
Thx for your help xda-team ♥
Choose stock....like me, i know there will be more comment after me saying custom is better (of coz, they made it)
But until now no custom rom is stable...
I use stock wxks6 then convert to ext4, plus...cf-root kernel and lagfreeV2 script....all working well.
Owh, and now using miui launcher...cool

oh nice thank you for now . . . i will check that out
After having tried many.
The Rom custom of the TheMyth (devilsking) are the best.
always the same functionality as stock.
ICS Final hands down. After flashing some other roms and looking around, this rom is by far the most stable and fastest I've tried. Never had any problems with the rom and I've been using it ever since the Final version came out. The only problems I've had are with random apps and such, never with the rom itself. Got a champion right there ;D
Highly recommend it.

hi all
I've noticed that android interface has a bit of lag ..... The problem is that I have tried other android, especially LG optimus HUB and user interface is smoother, this is seen for example in twitter app.
I hope you can tell me some adjustments or modifications to make my galaxy ace smoother
i have stock ROM
my compilation: GINGERBREAD.UMKP3
stock is prone to lags.
if u want smoother user experience go for custom roms. blackhawk and gingerreal 2.0 seems like good choice for rom based on stock

Hi people..
I have just unlocked my bootloader.. Can you please suggest ICS Roms for better and smooth performance than the stock Rom and the appropriate kernels for them!
And should I first install the rom or kernel?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
First kernel, then rom.
Head out to dev section and have fun in testing and finding which is best for you. Everyone have different opinions. But try aosp or aokp roms
try the new xperia pureness v3 its amazing, its still beta but its very good
You can try night elf kernel plus ka21.1 ics rom.

if u want smooth working phone install Polish Blood....
if u want customized with toggles and everything use AKOP,CM9
if u want stock rom use Spacious, smooth and light ICS
but if u want everything working perfectly & smoothly go back to a GB Rom -- codename_ei8ht-----a super rom by a super dev:good:
Get codename eight by emann... on gb..
Else for ics.. try otu whatever u can... i prefer aokp only.. and spacious by shradul..
Rest.. well.. not meant for me atleast..
I use Paranoid Hybrid based on Cynogenmod 9 unofficial version. It's heck of a ROM to start with. You get Cyno feel along with ICS 4.0.4 and also toggle between Tablet UI and Phone UI. It's smooth, fast and gives what you want. You can also use variety of Themes available for Cynogenmod. Please use FXP Kernel.

Though I agree that the rom is excellent, I would stick to 20.1 until issues with the market, gallery, walkman etc is resolved. 20.1 just comes off as a more stable release and recommended for those who don't want to spend time configuring after install. Just my opinion..
A good tip might be to use titanium backup, which can also backup contacts and text messages. Since you often need to format when switching or updating roms.
Kernel & ROM Combo
I also have the Night Elf Kernel plus KA21.1 ICS ROM. No need to factory reset if unlocked and already running a previous version of KA. No issue what so ever on my SE Neo Mt15a

how can u do that?
so im using, neat rom and appollo kernal, i flashed the cm version, weird thing is my phone is working fine, can i just flash the correct version over it ?
thx
There is a TW Neat and a AOSP Neat. Seems you have the AOSP Neat.
Anyway just dirty flash your rom again and it will overwrite the kernel.

so confusing, so do i need the cm version or the stock version mate, so many versions it drives me nuts, so its xwms3 neatrom v6.4, is that cm version or stock of perfomence x mod?
i now understand that by stock they mean its a stock based rom not stock as in the default rom by samsung

The one you will keep is a matter of personal preference. On the Galaxy S2 I use the AOSP version. It is lighter and you get Android 4.4.4. I do not like or use any of the Samsung crapware.
For starters keep the kernel that comes with the rom. It is more than good enough.
The link is here: [ROM][Sep 25][4.4.4] I9100 AOSP NeatROM v8.0.

so youre saying with the performence x mod i can use stock or the cm version? im on jelly bean 4.1.2 and yeah i decided to stay with the apolo kernal
yeah i still dont understand even after reading all through the pages of the performence mod, some people say i need the stock version if using neat rom, im guessing because its a stock based rom but he says if its a stock firmware to use the stock rom wich is what i thought at first
currently im using the stock version of performence x mod but id just want to know for sure im using the correct one for the best experience, im using the apolo kernal that came with the lite version of neat rom, on jb 4.1.2, but now im thinking i need the cm version because he says this
This engine works on any devices with any rom, but there is a version for CM's rom and one for stock based firmwares. So, CMx.x, Lewa Os, MIUI, etc.
Install the stock version only on your stock firmware of your phone....
if your device don't have gingerbread or ICS officially, install the CM version (This also applies to the AOSP)
Stock means the Samsumg Touchwiz Rom that comes with phone. Could also be a custom modified TW rom like Omega or NeatROM.
AOSP based roms are Slim, Paranoid, CM, Liquid, Omni, ... and, of course, AOSP Neatrom.
To further clarify, there are two NeatROms:
- Samsung Stock Based: [ROM][Aug 26][XWMS3] NeatROM
- AOSP Based: [ROM][Sep 25][4.4.4] I9100 AOSP NeatROM (Based on Slim rom)

thx for the detailed explanation mate, by the way i just installed the neatrom version you suggested with kitkat 4.4.2, i think the one i was using was a bit out of date, i like how light it is, lol it literaly comes with nothing installed really, anyways so i take it this aosp neatrom will use the cm version of the performence x mod then?
That is correct. AOSP NeatRom with CM version of PurePerformance.
If I were you I would use the rom for a few days before applying the mod. That would allow you to really feel if it will make a difference and if it is worth using it.

ah ok thx for the advice, im kinda not likin this one though mate, its a bit to bare for me, for a start i cant find the power save toggle no more lol, also it removed the default samsung galaxy music and video player wich i really liked and cant seem to get back, ive looked and cant find the stock one anywhere, there the 2 main things bothering me, i like to get rid of as much bloatware as possible. because then you can just have the stuff you want, but the stock music and video player were pretty decent
one other thing i went and installed the latest apolo kernal too, its the one for kitkat, had to update my gpu mali driver to install it, i just want the stock sgs2 music and video player back mainly now and ill be good
Samsung apps rely on Touchwiz framework. You can not run them under an AOSP rom.
If you feel you must have them, you have to use a TW rom, could be the TW neat rom.
I use these apps:
Video Player: MX Player - XDA thread MX Player
Music Player: Poweramp Music Player
The best apps to extend your battery life:
[APP][4.0+] Greenify
[APP][2.3+] LeanDroid - The most efficient battery saver

Glad to be able to help.
In this case I am not sure what to do. The S 2 I have is beeing used by my son and he out for two weeks.
Usually AOSP roms will allow you to suppress or change the network name. It is a status bar option called "Carrier Label" or something similar. I know it is not the best solution but it is what I can think of at this moment.
If possible please post a screenshot with the place where tmobile name is showing.
Not a problem mate apparently T-Mobile are same as virgin or something like that I read. Phone works fine. I put the kh3 modem on it too so that's probably why.
also you were rite about trying it without the performence mod, i did a tuntutu test before and after and with it, it lags like hell and i get 15000 and without it i get 17181 wich from reading everyone elses is pretty good, though i know benchmarks arnt accurate, its in game you get the results not these tests, but it can play gta san andreas well and thats what i wanted from it anyways, cant afford one of the newest ones
and theres not many games out that take advantage of the expensive ones yet anyways, games are gonna get good on these phones though thats for sure, maybe ill think about getting a better model when theres loads of decent games i cant play
atm i can play real trigger 2, real racing 3, though real trigger 2 on lowest settings for a smooth performence, gta 3 , gta san andreas overall pretty chuffed with this phone so far
oh and thx for the poweramp recomendation mate, its better than the samsung one, one last question, is it possible to get one of the stock weather widgets at all? can you not switch to the touchwiz launcher or something?
